Love this place, quaint little Irish pub in middle of danish community, serving up fish and chips as well as many Irish eats. Love the Irish beers on tap, I got the creamy stout and my partner got the other and they were so delicious. This is such a must visit, there were only two servers super busy but they were so sweet. Ordered the Irish nachos and fish and chip, would totally recommend. I will come back and try their bangers and mash and other dishes for sure. But it's a must to try their on tap beers. I can only rate the service as we decided to leave prior to ordering. My husband and I went in on 10/15 around 1:30 to get lunch. As there were only two other guest sitting at the bar looking at menus we decided to sit at the bar also. We noticed the only server seemed upset we were sitting there. My husband asked if we should sit in at a booth. Server said "I can't tell you where to sit". He then handed us two drink menus while returning to his phone. After a long wait to get his attention again we asked for food menus. He seemed aggravated by our request and slammed down his work device on the counter after giving us the menus. Not the best experience while visiting Solvang! I originally ordered the beef stew, but it came out COLD! It tasted as though it had been sitting out and they warmed it up in the microwave. Chunks of meat were still cold, though. Not good! The bread was stale and tasted old. When I asked the server to order something different, he claimed they make everything fresh, and that there was no way the beef stew was cold. Anyways... after he was done being passive aggressive, I ordered the bangers and mash and you could see the smoke coming from the plate when it was served. Great food at a very non-pretentious Irish pub. Came in on a cold and rainy Saturday night and just beat the crowd. Seated right away, I ordered the fish and chips with coleslaw and a pint of Kilkenny. There was only a single staff member working the floor and the bar so we had to wait a little bit before being served. However, once I ordered the food and beer it came literally within five minutes. The fish was very good and the fries were decent. However, I absolutely loved the coleslaw and that is a thing for me. had a pint of Kilkenny from the tap which is sort of like a softer, kinder, milder Guinness and enjoyed that as well. The potatoes are all freshly cut for their French fries and Irish nachos. Their corned beef was super tender and delicious in every dish we got with it in it. The biggest issue I had was fighting the flies indoors. We were starving, and even with that, the food did not meet any expectation. I ordered the fish and chips, and two of of three pieces of fish were not cooked well. My husband ordered a spicy burger with onion rings. The burger was luke warm and the onion rings were mushy. The only item that was actually tasty was the macaroni and cheese. Went to this pub this past Sunday to hopefully watch the Euro Cup Final. Hours read "11am-" After waiting on the curb with a bunch of other confused people until 11:10 (the barstools where still on the bar) I left and went up the street to the Solvang Brewery where I had a great time watching the match. This was my THIRD attempt to frequent this pub. The other 2 experiences were really unenjoyable. The owner is miserable and clearly detests customers. You know that feeling you get when you feel like you are doing THEM a favor by being there? Yeah, that's this pub. The absolute opposite of what you want out of a local pub. I'm done ever going here again. If you're in town visiting and want a great and I mean great local bar, drive a few miles to the Maverick Saloon (google it) it's one of the great American bars. Irish nachos were pretty loaded with corned beef and the potatoes were crispy like chips. I would totally give 5 stars if it weren't for one very minor detail I only noticed after leaving- the only table that was completely outdoors was occupied by a couple who was eating. When we arrived we asked for that specific table and was told "no sorry, no food is allowed there- only drinks". I was a bit disappointed to see that it seemed the very sweet and new waitress had lied to us. Ok that's the worst thing about this place. Food here was so good! I had the chicken pot pie and my bf had the fish and chips. I thought the spot is just gonna be okay, but we were impressed! The pot pie was very flavorful, the pastry was light and crunchy and it was pretty big, 2 can easily share it. The fish and chips was not greasy at all, it was flakey and moist at the same time. We visit Solvang at least once a year and found this gem. The atmosphere and decor is top notch. We came in for lunch and it did not disappoint. The service was great and the food was amazing. The Reuben is one of the best I have ever had and the onion rings were perfect. The America cheeseburger was a big patty and cooked to perfection, loved the thick cut fries. If you are traveling to Solvang, I would look into other options aside from Fitzpatrick's Tavern. We came here because there was a massive line at another nearby restaurant. The one word I would use to describe the food is edible. Most of the dishes (salad, calamari, pulled pork burger, Philly cheesesteak) weren't particularly horrible, but I certainly wouldn't go back for more. Food ratings are as follows: -Mac n cheese: 1/5 *noodles were extremely overcooked in some parts and the cheese sauce curdled -Philly cheesesteak: 2.5/5 -fries: 1/5 *some of my fries were partially raw. Pieces super inconsistent in thickness. -salad: 3/5 -calamari: 3/5 -pulled pork: 2.5/5 -Irish coffee: -10/5 *this was easily the worst coffee drink I have ever ordered. It tasted like water with a hint of coffee. As for the service, we were also highly disappointed, as our server forgot about one of our entrees (there were only 3 of us) and acted annoyed, despite my friend being very polite and accepting a small salad as her entree. Additionally, the server forgot my Irish coffee and brought it long after I finished my meal and didn't even apologize. Exploring Solvang I was surprised to find an Irish Pub.  One of the best chicken pot pies I've ever eaten was made by an Irish Pub in Palm Springs so I had high hopes for Fitzpatrick's Tavern.  Our waiter/bartender was very friendly and helpful. Chicken pot pie had a flaky pastry top which had a nice mild flavor.  Wish the pie had side and bottom crust but that is kinda hard to find in restaurants now.  I loved the flavors from the filling which had carrots, potatoes, cream sauce, and a mix of white and dark meat chicken.  Most of the pies I've tried only have white meat so the addition of dark meat was a pleasant surprise.  :-) I'll have to return and try more menu items as I really loved their take on chicken pot pie. read more

tl;dr: unprofessional behavior, slow service, mid fries I made a mistake reading the menu. Had to send back the food due to having ALLERGIES to an ingredient feeling bad and the manager came and gave me a menu pointing out what I misread on the menu. I apologized and felt bad but he then proceeded to tell OTHER CUSTOMERS and be loud about the instance. Made me feel really UNCOMFORTABLE knowing that he was talking bad about me out-loud to everybody. Mistakes happen and I felt bad but it's inappropriate to be bad mouthing a customer. Then when we asked him for the bill, we never got it and had to ask another waiter for it. The fries weren't great either. I came here for the chicken pot pie and it didn't disappoint. That along with the Poutine and guacamole bacon burger were all delicious. It was a raining day and the restaurant is welcoming and cozy. The absolute best thing about the experience was the staff. Mikala was AMAZING. As the rain came down more, more people started to come in and all areas of the restaurant had people in them and she never missed a beat. She was alone in the front and there was the cook in the back and together they helped everyone in a timely manner. I was impressed by her calm demeanor and ability to attend to everyone and get the food out and refill drinks. bus tables and still smile the whole time. It was a rainy evening in Solvang when we walked in here for our evening meal. We chose a table out on the partially enclosed porch. Even though the weather wasn't great, the patio area was very comfortable. We started with crispy calamari, which came out quite quickly. It was a generous portion and definitely crispy. There was lemon to squeeze on them, or a tomato sauce to dip them in. They were fine, but I've had better. We still enjoyed them though. My husband ordered the stew, which came out with bread. It was a nice presentation and he enjoyed the huge chunks of veggies and beef. I had the Dubliner's burger on sourdough instead of a bun. It was a large burger with lots of grilled onions, tomato slices, and lettuce on it. It wasn't the most flavorful burger I've had, but I still enjoyed it, perfectly cooked to my liking. I forgot to ask for the side salad, so it came out with fries, which I can't have. Our server said I could order a side salad yet, but it'd cost about $6. It was my mistake, so I said not to bother. Next thing I knew, he came out with a little salad for me at no extra cost. It was so nice of him to do that for me! From the outside as you see it, to the inside as you sit down, Fitzpatrick's atmosphere is a fun place to go to. The service was more than friendly; it felt like I was a regular. For food we ordered a burger and fish n chips for my girls and my wife got the short ribs and I got the lamb shanks. I was in ecstasy when I got to the joint of the bone and hit that gooey thick gelatinized fat or cartlidge part; I had to stop myself from gnawing at the bone. The vegetables were cooked well and still crispy with so much flavor! Ya'll gotta stop by! Sam the owner has done a great job putting his heart into his restaurant and made sure we were having a great time. My girls loved him!
