The pot pie was very flavorful, the pastry was light and crunchy and it was pretty big, 2 can easily share it. The fish and chips was not greasy at all, it was flakey and moist at the same time. Not the best experience while visiting Solvang! I originally ordered the beef stew, but it came out COLD! It tasted as though it had been sitting out and they warmed it up in the microwave. Chunks of meat were still cold, though. Not good! The bread was stale and tasted old. When I asked the server to order something different, he claimed they make everything fresh, and that there was no way the beef stew was cold. Sometimes you really are just meant to have a blessed day. My friend had had a very stressful week at work and wanted a relaxing day. She suggested going for a drive away from the city. L.A. stays chaotic. I suggested this area since it's the exact opposite of where we live and I hadn't been in a while. Also because she'd never been before. Downtown was full of life when we got there. We had just caught the end of what seemed to be a wine walking event. They were taking booths down as we walked around. We went around town looking for nothing and everything. After a few loops, we got hungry. We kept passing a bunch of spots that looked interesting, but every spot was ridiculous crowded. I wasn't about to wait so we kept walking until we ended up here. Truth be told I was sold the second I saw Guinness on the sign outside. A family sitting right out front had just gotten up to leave which worked out perfectly for us. I walked in and asked the lady if we could take the seats outside. She promptly cleaned the area for us. They had run out of a few things. Totally understandable with the event earlier in the day. I got the Fish & Chips. It's my usual order anyway so I wasn't disappointed in the least. Our dining experience got elevated to the next level when a group of out of towners sat right next to us. They were a fu bunch. Great food at a very non-pretentious Irish pub. Came in on a cold and rainy Saturday night and just beat the crowd. Seated right away, I ordered the fish and chips with coleslaw and a pint of Kilkenny. There was only a single staff member working the floor and the bar so we had to wait a little bit before being served. However, once I ordered the food and beer it came literally within five minutes. The fish was very good and the fries were decent. However, I absolutely loved the coleslaw and that is a thing for me. had a pint of Kilkenny from the tap which is sort of like a softer, kinder, milder Guinness and enjoyed that as well. Went to this pub this past Sunday to hopefully watch the Euro Cup Final. Hours read "11am-" After waiting on the curb with a bunch of other confused people until 11:10 (the barstools where still on the bar) I left and went up the street to the Solvang Brewery where I had a great time watching the match. This was my THIRD attempt to frequent this pub. The other 2 experiences were really unenjoyable. The owner is miserable and clearly detests customers. You know that feeling you get when you feel like you are doing THEM a favor by being there? Yeah, that's this pub. The absolute opposite of what you want out of a local pub. I'm done ever going here again. If you're in town visiting and want a great and I mean great local bar, drive a few miles to the Maverick Saloon (google it) it's one of the great American bars. The only downside was with them being understaffed, service was a bit slow, which was totally understandable. Having one woman tend to all the tables in the restaurant kept her busy. What a great authentic Irish pub. Excellent food, our waiter was charming and fun. I would definitely return.

We were a group of 7.. The server asked us to wait for about 15-20 mins outside in the cold, We had a baby and senior citizen with us. We had to wait for a big table so after waiting I just told her to separate the tables for 3 and 4.. after eating when our bill arrived she put that we were 6 on the table to make the tip bigger. But we were just 4. The bills were also 2 bills because different tables. We didnt eat together but she told us because we knew each other it would be automatic.. such a scam! The server scammers name is Melissa. Not leaving a tip and got cheated on is totally different. I would think that putting 6 people when it is a table for 4 is illegal. We were just 4 in the table. We would give tip but we just didn't want to get scammed. Especially with bad service. On Christmas eve you got only 1 waitress so customers don't get to have good service and you force customers to pay for 18% tip. If you are traveling to Solvang, I would look into other options aside from Fitzpatrick's Tavern. We came here because there was a massive line at another nearby restaurant. The one word I would use to describe the food is edible. Most of the dishes (salad, calamari, pulled pork burger, Philly cheesesteak) weren't particularly horrible, but I certainly wouldn't go back for more. Food ratings are as follows: -Mac n cheese: 1/5 *noodles were extremely overcooked in some parts and the cheese sauce curdled -Philly cheesesteak: 2.5/5 -fries: 1/5 *some of my fries were partially raw. Pieces super inconsistent in thickness. -salad: 3/5 -calamari: 3/5 -pulled pork: 2.5/5 -Irish coffee: -10/5 *this was easily the worst coffee drink I have ever ordered. It tasted like water with a hint of coffee. As for the service, we were also highly disappointed, as our server forgot about one of our entrees (there were only 3 of us) and acted annoyed, despite my friend being very polite and accepting a small salad as her entree. Additionally, the server forgot my Irish coffee and brought it long after I finished my meal and didn't even apologize. Irish nachos were pretty loaded with corned beef and the potatoes were crispy like chips. I would totally give 5 stars if it weren't for one very minor detail I only noticed after leaving- the only table that was completely outdoors was occupied by a couple who was eating. When we arrived we asked for that specific table and was told "no sorry, no food is allowed there- only drinks". I was a bit disappointed to see that it seemed the very sweet and new waitress had lied to us. Ok that's the worst thing about this place. tl;dr: unprofessional behavior, slow service, mid fries I made a mistake reading the menu. Had to send back the food due to having ALLERGIES to an ingredient feeling bad and the manager came and gave me a menu pointing out what I misread on the menu. I apologized and felt bad but he then proceeded to tell OTHER CUSTOMERS and be loud about the instance. Made me feel really UNCOMFORTABLE knowing that he was talking bad about me out-loud to everybody. Mistakes happen and I felt bad but it's inappropriate to be bad mouthing a customer. Then when we asked him for the bill, we never got it and had to ask another waiter for it. The fries weren't great either. It was a rainy evening in Solvang when we walked in here for our evening meal. We chose a table out on the partially enclosed porch. Even though the weather wasn't great, the patio area was very comfortable. We started with crispy calamari, which came out quite quickly. It was a generous portion and definitely crispy. There was lemon to squeeze on them, or a tomato sauce to dip them in. They were fine, but I've had better. We still enjoyed them though. My husband ordered the stew, which came out with bread. It was a nice presentation and he enjoyed the huge chunks of veggies and beef. I had the Dubliner's burger on sourdough instead of a bun. It was a large burger with lots of grilled onions, tomato slices, and lettuce on it. It wasn't the most flavorful burger I've had, but I still enjoyed it, perfectly cooked to my liking. I forgot to ask for the side salad, so it came out with fries, which I can't have. Our server said I could order a side salad yet, but it'd cost about $6. It was my mistake, so I said not to bother. Next thing I knew, he came out with a little salad for me at no extra cost. It was so nice of him to do that for me! From the outside as you see it, to the inside as you sit down, Fitzpatrick's atmosphere is a fun place to go to. The service was more than friendly; it felt like I was a regular. For food we ordered a burger and fish n chips for my girls and my wife got the short ribs and I got the lamb shanks. I was in ecstasy when I got to the joint of the bone and hit that gooey thick gelatinized fat or cartlidge part; I had to stop myself from gnawing at the bone.
