The Yelp Waitlist is not used by the restaurant, but shows up on Yelp. Just wait in line for your turn. This place was busy the day after Christmas, came at 1:23 and didn't get seated until 1:44pm. Took another 10 min until we received menus. After taking our orders of Corn Chowder Bread Bowl, Fish and Chips, and Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Our food arrived 40 min later, not suggesting to eat here if you and your family are super hungry. Corn Chowder Bread Bowl was creamy and tasted good. Fish and Chips was good taste and crispy texture, coleslaw was not overly powering with sweet taste, hand cut fries tasted okay wish the fries was more crispy. We ordered bit of everything from the menu to share and nothing disappointed. * Slider Burgers * Chicken Tenders with Fries * Chicken Pot Pie * Calamari * Goat Cheese and Beet Salad * Buffalo Bone In Wings I enjoyed the Chicken Pot Pie the most -- crust was so flaky and buttery, and the filling was the perfect creamy consistency enveloping chicken bites and vegetables. The kids loved picking at the wings, fries, and calamari. I'm sure this spot would be a good place to hit up for a lunch or dinner meal, but for our purposes -- it hit the mark. Tired of wine and sweet pastries? Head to Fitzpatrick's for some good ole comfort foods and a brew. It's a classic Pub in the middle of Solvang. We walked in around 5pm... beat from wandering up and down the streets of Solvang all afternoon. All we wanted was a beer and some fish and chips. OK... I'll be honest... I wanted the beer. The others just wanted to get off their feet and relax for a minute. We were sat immediately as it was still a tad early for dinner. But when we left around 6:30pm, it was filling up and only a table or 2 was open and the bar was full. It can get a bit boisterous... seems some locals like to come here, and they all know each other. So... if everyone is talking all at once and what not, it gets "lively". If you are looking for a quiet bar, this is not it. If you are looking for a bar with good eats that has some 'Cheers' vibes, this is it. We ordered all sorts of stuff including the aforementioned Beer for me. Note... the portions are generous, and I would recommend sharing unless you are hungry or a big eater. I had the Beet salad and the wings (half and half). What can I say? I like variety. Beet salad was big and fresh. The wings ... hot and meaty. The others had fish n chips which were very good. We were passing through Solvang (party of 3 plus dog) and spent the night there after a day of driving. Our good fortune led us to Fitzhenry's Tavern . There is nothing fancy about this place, which oddly has its bar separated in an adjacent room from the main dining area, which also has a bar and several booths. We ordered three items for dinner. - Fish and chips served with coleslaw - Chicken pot pie - Corned beef and cabbage The fish and chips were perhaps the best I have had from either side of the pond. Excellent. "805" enhanced beef batter over fresh cod....fat fries and generously large four pieces of fish The chicken pot pie matched the outline of. A Deflated NFL football. The crust was bakery quality and the chicken pieces were plentiful, mixed into a delicious creamy filling with potatoes, carrots and onions that were seasoned perfectly. The corned beef and cabbage was perfectly cooked-tender and sweet with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner. I had the best commercial burger of my life here. The spicy melt is such a specific combination of all my favorite ingredients, when combined it felt like a chorus of angels singing in my mouth. I was really excited to try this place. Was trying to choose between here and whiskey n rye. We chose here unfortunately. Server was terribly rude. When I did not hide my disdain for his comments he just shrugged it off, breezed by one more time to comment on the weather, and then grabbed my plate (I wasn't even done with it) but at this point was very over this establishment. Avoid this place. Went with family for dinner. They seemed understaffed which was fine but they took our order and didn't give any updates for an hour. When I finally asked, I was told a chef walked out but our food was up next. Then they came out and said they didn't have what we ordered... our first time visiting and definitely the last. The owner was busy drinking and talking inside instead of managing the orders or even checking on customers. If there was a shortage of food, the staff could've updated us during the hour. One of the few restaurants that was open on a Monday late evening. This was a small tavern type eatery with seating indoors and also on a small patio outside. There were 2 other families and 2 men at the bar when we walked in, we were greeted as we walked in and picked a table in the back. We ordered bd the food came out very quickly, my husband got the spicy burger which he LOVED as well as the truffle fries and my son and I shared the mac n cheese and corn chowder. To me the food needed just a little more flavoring but a little salt and pepper worked just fine. If you'd like, I'd be more than willing to drive by and show you exactly where this signage is located. We sat down at the bar at Fitzpatrick Pub and were completely ignored by the bartender. No greeting, no acknowledgment--nothing. After roughly 15 minutes, I finally asked if we could order a couple of beers. The response? A snippy, unprofessional remark: "Can I make my drinks first?" followed immediately by "I can get a third arm to get your drinks." That kind of sarcasm toward paying customers is unacceptable. We didn't interrupt anything urgent--we were simply sitting there, invisible, trying to order beers at a bar. We walked out and will definitely not be back. Yes, Solvang is busy and people will continue to go there regardless--but basic courtesy and professionalism shouldn't disappear just because a place knows it has foot traffic. Great tavern, has everything you would imagine or want from a local pub, but in the middle of downtown Solvang. Swung by in search of a pint, and this looked and felt the part. Sat at the bar with my mom who marveled at her first "bar" experience, and we just ordered a 20 oz of draft each, at I think $8. I think we got a Smithwick's and a Kilkenney, which were well-poured. The bartender/owner was approachable, friendly, seemed to know the regulars, and took pride and care in his establishment. Upon a man having some sort of quasi-spiritual experience after having eaten a Reuben, he pointed out a sort of Reuben Bible, which told, through scribbles on the backs of receipts, how much the Reuben had changed people's lives. Wanting to try it, but having dinner reservations, we resolved to come the next day, which we did. The following day (a Saturday), we arrived around lunch and ordered some beer and a plate of Fish and Chips, and the famed Reuben. The Reuben was pretty great: the bread was warm and crisp without feeling too thin and crispy, the corned beef was lean yet tender, the cheese gooey, and the sauerkraut cut into the meatiness of the beef for a really amazing, well-balanced mouthful, every mouthful. Wanted to come to a spot with outdoor seating, drinking, and eating and a place to watch the Dodger Game. I got all of that here. Typically I am not a Tavern sort of person because Hash or Beans or whatever the fuck doesn't do it for me. There is just one bartender but he is on top of it at every table while also minding the bar bringing great convo. Right off the bat, this establishment is absolute garbage. No liquor license, although it claims to be an Irish pub. Poor service, on purpose. The bartender clearly didn't want to do his job. 20-minutes of no acknowledgement and no service. My experience took place during Thanksgiving weekend and Solvang was packed with visitors. However, Fitzpatrick's Tavern was at about half capacity. At one point during our wait, the bartender made chit chat with other people, put a rack of glasses away, and wandered around a few times, without even acknowledging us. After 20-minutes of being ignored at the bar, my party of four called it quits. On the way out, another party was overhead saying, "we've been here 20-minutes with no service." They also left. I wouldn't be surprised to see this pathetic dump closed by next Thanksgiving weekend. Having been in the food and alcohol service industry for decades, I know bad management and poor employee behaviors the minute I walk into a place. Update: I have to admit, Fitzpatrick's Tavern is not a dump. It's actually pretty nice. They also have a very good beer called Kilkenny. I was really looking forward to having a Kilkenny at a pub that looked pretty pub-ish. But as I stated, 4 of us were seated by a friendly employee. The bar and restaurant were not busy, but we were completely ignored by the bartender, and that's not hyperbole. There are several past reviews that claim similar experiences. The owner has replied to my original review, and like many other of his responses, he'd rather make excuses and argue with dissatisfied customers. Customers! The very people that a business relies on to prosper. It's apparent that none of the reviews have lead to improvements. Does the owner assume that his staff and management can remain dismal because they exist in a tourist town, and don't have to rely on repeat customers? I don't know. I was visiting the area with my spouse and went here for lunch. I ordered a calamari appetizer and a chicken pot pie. To be honest the fried calamari was the bomb, very crispy and hot and a nice portion. Probably the best I've had. The pot pie was good and again a large portion but when I broke the crust and started tasting the pie filling it wasn't hot enough. The server,however, was very apologetic and took it back. The cool neighborhood tavern in town. True old scool Irish pub feel with a few seats at the bar, booths and a few tables and chairs. I ate here over a couple different days and at different times, as well ordered different items though I ordered the Fish and Chips twice its that good, with a soda the first round and sat at a booth during lunch. The second I sat at the bar with a Smithwick's and added malt vinegar and it was even better. The fish is really good, the batter golden brown the cod tender and moist with the right crunch to bite ratio. Just good fish and chips, the slaw again very good both times the same with the fries. Consistent good quality food. Between those, I stopped in one evening for a Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich with fries and a Smithwick's and I sat at the bar. The sandwich is really good, the pork is tender and very flavorful with the slaw on top, great the fries golden brown crispy outside and pillowy soft inside - thats pretty much perfect. A solid choice. This is a cool, small town Irish tavern that is in the middle of a Danish community. It is its own vibe, I liked the feel and the staff, it was a small tight crew. The guy running the bar and also my server was busy as he could be but always came back around to check on me, same with the woman who helped me on my first visit. Three times in about ten days, that speaks a lot to how well I enjoyed Fitzpatrick's well worth a visit, even if its crowded.
