While visiting the beautiful, vibrant city of Solvang we were fortunate enough to stumble across this Irish Pub on our walk among the streets in the heart of the city. My husband left me with the choice that evening to choose to dine at one of the many restaurants available. I quickly checked the Yelp app on my phone and the sound of dining at an Irish Pub easily and quickly won me over. My husband and I are huge suckers for a delectable, hearty shepherd's pie, and the restaurant quite nicely held up to our expectations. The mashed potatoes on top could have used a little bit of salt, but other than that we were two very happy campers. Along with our double order of their shepherd's pie, we ordered the barbecue wings appetizer, which was very palatable as well. Most of the carrots and celery went to our young daughter, but she too enjoyed some of the meat on a couple of the wings. Price was right and we were hungry after a few wine tasting in the area. It was walking distance from everything in Solvang. Tee hee. Bathrooms are outside by the patio area. Plentiful parking in the area. Errol was our server. He was pretty awesome with some good suggestions. He was informative and was really helpful with his favorites. What we ordered - Guinness Irish stew for me- potatoes were under done and the beef over done; Gaaaaaaah. Shepard pie for him. It was very bland and needs ketchup or hp sauce (very similar to Worcester sauce). Great service but can stand for better food. Overall the food was really lousy. Fries were still half frozen and hard. Shephard's Pie was overly salty, which attempted to cover up the othrweise lack of flavor. It had the consistency and taste of something that had been frozen and heated up. It was ridiculously bland otherwise. The beer on tap was quite good. Staff was super friendly and attentive. We ended up here on V-Day for dinner (group of 5). There was a small wait of about 30 minutes but that is the normal with outdoor dining and a busy holiday. So I'd say we actually were lucky it was only 30 minutes. We started with the Irish Nachos. Really good starter and tender corned beef. In all we ordered the fish and chips, shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, Guinness stew, Mac and cheese and tempeh sandwich. Everyone agreed their meal was on point with taste and serving size. I had the chicken pot pie and it was so delicious. Personal favorite so far, as I did also try the shepherds pie. Service was great and I think they are doing the best they can on what staffing they do have (it's hard on restaurants to have to lay off and re-hire). We were very hopeful when we walked in to have some much needed dinner after a long drive. It was a rainy Thursday evening in February so there weren't many customers. We had high hopes for the menu, and placed our drink orders almost immediately. After 45 minutes of waiting, however, we received neither drinks nor food. We approached the waiter twice to ask about our drinks (water and lemonade) and were told that there were many people in front of us, despite there only being 4 other people in the restaurant. Almost the entire time we were there, we could see our cups filled with ice sitting on the bar, never being filled. There was only one waiter in the restaurant at the time, but there was also a very minimal amount of customers at the time. While we were there, we observed at least 2 other people leave after not being served, and we eventually joined them. I would rate the food, but after 80 minutes, we never received it, despite there being multiple people in the kitchen. Friendly service and good food; I got the Irish Nachos and my boyfriend got the Spicy Melt Burger. He loved it. He liked the Kilt Turner he got as well. The guy who I think was the owner was nice enough to make me a lemon drop. Overall good environment! The two servers did seem a bit too spread thin with the tables they had, but they were both energetic and fun. They had some fun beer cocktails on the menu too. We stopped into Fitzpatrick's one evening while driving through the Santa Ynez Valley. We sat outside on the side patio because the seats inside were taken. It took us a bit to figure out that the servers weren't coming outside, so we went inside to grab menus. It took another 15 minutes before a server (who ended up being the bartender) came outside to take our orders. The Fish and Chips were super tasty, but the Carolina Barbeque was average at best. We also had to notify the bartender that we wanted our drinks replenished by going inside. After reading other reviews, I feel like we need to give this place another shot. Went for an early-ish dinner. There were a few people at the bar, one table of people inside, and one on the patio. All this to say, it wasn't very busy. All of the empty tables had dirty dishes on them and the one waitress/bartender had to clear them so we could sit. Placed our order and waited for our food. And waited, and waited, and waited. The waitress was outside for over 10 minutes talking to the one table of people out there. Meanwhile the kitchen is hitting the bell several times, to indicate that our food was ready. First of all, this place just felt friendly when walking in. Even with the sign saying they were short handed, we were constantly reminded that we weren't forgotten and would be helped out soon. When we finally sat, the drinks were brought quickly. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriend a chicken sandwich. There was a mixup with the food and she was given a salmon sandwich instead, but she liked it so much she didn't even complain. Even without us complaining they offered her a free beer, and made sure we'd get it. We ended up saying no to the free drink because we both loved the food and the friendliness of the staff. We live in orange county, but next time we're in solvang this will be our eating spot. Didn't take pictures of the food because we basically devoured our meals. The fries felt like they cut whole potatoes for each plate, they were crispy and delicious. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing, some of the most tender pork I've ever had and the sauce was delicious. Nothing wrong with this place. But not ecstatic. There was only one person serving/bartending and he did a great job. Worked his butt off and was still super friendly the entire time. We got the Reuben, 2 sliders (the dubliner and spicy something), Cheesesteak, and wings. The Reuben was good, not amazing, but the best of the four things for sure. It's my birthday today (2/23) and my family and I were interested in checking this place out for lunch. But when one of us went to ask the server if we seat ourselves or does she seat us, she was 100% rude in her response. And trust me when I say that I can be a bit sarcastic and rude as well, so I can tell when someone else is being that way. I was not ok with her treating my family member that way. So I let her know that some of us were in the restaurant industry too so we understand that she was busy, but her attitude and response was unnecessary. She couldn't even be an adult with a backbone and apologize and own up to her rudeness. Instead she was being a coward and was saying she didn't feel that she was being rude. Even while she was saying that, she was being rude again. We were very disappointed. Service was friendly and we enjoyed the dishes we tried: the Dublinger burger and fries (huge burger, full of thick cut bacon and all the fixings, and delicious thick cut fries) and fish and chips (big portion of lightly breaded fish, coleslaw and the same delicious fries), along with a "Red Apple" beer cocktail and Guinness. By LA standards, I would give this place 3-3.5 stars but this is a 4 star shop for Solvang. Service is great, fun casual but clean and modern ambiance, and decent food. We got the Shepard's pie ($13.95) which arrived piping hot. It was tasty and the beef was good. We also tried the Dubliner burger ($13.95) which comes with a side of fries. This was tastier than the Shepard's pie but nothing terribly special about it. Service was very good. Kitchen is a little slow in terms of food. They are open pretty late (for Solvang) and have lots of TVs with different games on. Not a bad stop for something different in Solvang but I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place. read more

What a nice find in Solvang! Happy to find good food and a change from the sugary sweet pastries and chachkis that Solvang is known for. Good beer on tap: Guinness of course, Smithwicks, 850, and a local IPA Nitro. The food is excellent: Shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, Irish Breakfast among other traditional Irish fare. Real Irish bacon and baked berms by the way. One day I had the fish tacos, and even though not vey Irish, they were the best I ever had, and that's saying something.The owner is very accommodating to patrons, on top of the kitchen, and is the barkeep. As for our order: I tried the shepherds pie which everybody is reviewing as really good, I'll agree that it is but if you are not into pot pie kinda thing like I am , then don't but if you are, Go for it! My mom ordered the calamari and the taste was fishy and off. Not the way calamari is supposed to taste. She unfortunately ate a few pieces of it since she was hungry but almost all of it was on the plate still. We have been coming here for years, actually drive two hours just so we can eat here. Sam the owner is amazing, and the food is incredible. Fish and chips are spot on, best we have had outside the UK. Lamb shank is super tender and delicious. We always get the spicy melt, like a patty melt with attitude. BUT the absolute best thing on the menu is their EPIC Reuben, if you don't like sauerkraut, like my husband, get it with cole slaw instead. It's so good, we share one and get one to go.
