Came here for a quick birthday brunch and it was actually really nice inside. First things first: service was quick & efficient! No complaints there, at least during my visit. I ordered the elevated egg sandwich with seasoned fries while my partner had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and seasoned fries. Portion was perfect, but I wish the food was more flavorful. We also ordered drinks: coffee, purple haze, tangerine dream, & kale tonic (to-go). All drinks were refreshing and tasty, BUT kale tonic will now be my drink of choice because it was just THAT good! My friend and I were looking to meet up for brunch. On our search for something different, we came across First Watch. Its location was convenient for the two of us, so we settled on this location. When we got there, there were already people waiting to be seated, but everything seemed to be under control. Our wait was long enough to give us time to peruse the menu without being too long that we got antsy. Each employee we came across was polite and nice, despite the hectic atmosphere. That was appreciated very much. Being the kind of person who likes to try new things, I went for the chorizo breakfast burrito off of their seasonal specials menu. Absolutely no regrets with my choice. The presentation of the plate was aesthetically pleasing. Everything within the burrito complemented each other without being too salty, which is always my concern with chorizo. I have no complaints. The food and service were terrible. We waited very long for our food and then when I finally get it they left everything out of my tacos except for potatoes and the tortilla was burnt. My husband never got a coffee mug and it was obvious they never placed his food order because it came 20min after mine did. Our waiter never checked up on us and never acknowledged how messed up our order was. When we went to pay we told the lady at the cashier and she gave us an attitude about it. The wait is always super long but here's a tip.... ADD YOUR NAME TO THE WAITLIST HERE ON THE YELP APP!! On countless occasions, our waiter or waitress has left us waiting to either order food or our food takes a long time to come. On numerous occasions as well, we weren't even greeted by our waiter or waitress - they simply just came to the table and asked if we were ready to order. In addition.... their paying system SUCKS! You have to go to the front of the restaurant where there's a huge amount of people waiting to be seated to pay. So the person who runs the front and seats people has to take car of a line of people that wants to pay. I honestly hope this changes ASAP! I don't understand why you can't just pay at the table with the server... But.... about the food - I always order the Farmhouse Skillet and my boyfriend always orders the Chickichanga. Both entrees are super flavorful and the portion size definitely leaves you full. The Kale Tonic Juice and their Orange Juice is amazing too. I came here with a party of 10 on a Sunday and there was no wait! It's pretty hard to go out for Sunday brunch and not have to wait, let alone for 10 people, so I was impressed with that already. As for the food and service, everything was great. They are also accommodating for vegans and vegetarians. They even have nondairy creamer options for your coffee! For food, I made the market skillet vegan by ordering it without eggs or cheese (I subbed extra potatoes). It was delicious!! My boyfriend tried one of the specials which was a salmon toast. First time - Nothing to write home about. After a 30 minute wait, my party of 5 finally got seated. Our server came to take our order... Overall, I enjoyed my experience. We were quickly seated and served. I disliked the open concept, warehouse-like dining room. It didn't feel intimate or private and gave a similar vibe to eating at Ikea. The music blasted over the various voices echoing off the walls and wooden floors. The acoustics made it difficult to converse with guests and waiters. The drinks and food were good. I got an iced coffee that was on the menu. It had cold foam, caramel, and some kind of topping over the cold foam. My coworker had a watermelon drink with a mint leaf and she ordered a 2nd cup. For the meal, My coworker had the trifecta (Pancakes, Sausage, and scrambled eggs.) I had the Salmon Frittata and substituted it with mixed greens for cheesy grits. The frittata was heaven, but the cheesy grits were HORRIBLE. I can tell they had been reheated from earlier in the morning because they quickly re-hardened in the cup it was served in as they cooled. I was unable to stir them or enjoy them. See, Grits often thicken as they cook further (and after as they sit). They needed to stir in more water, milk, or cream to thin them out to the desired consistency. The waiter was friendly and kind but missed small the things that improve the customer experience, such as providing butter with the pancakes, asking us how our food is, and telling us (as first-time customers) that we needed to pay the check at the register, rather than wait (30 mins) for him to return to our table, to take the check and process our form of payment. All of it was delicious and it really tasted fresh and natural. My turkey burger in particular was seasoned perfectly and I decided to add some hot sauce to give it a kick. It also came with a side of greens, although they offer soup on the side or other sides at an additional cost. The prices are also pretty standard (about $10 per dish) and the menu had plenty of options (pancakes, hash browns, eggs, omelettes, sandwiches, etc.). Oh and did I mention they have free coffee? Yeah, not only at the table, but also at check-in while you wait for your table to be ready! For drinking, I highly recommend their morning meditation juice. Website said there's no wait but we sat for 2+ hours waiting for our food and waitress couldn't give us an ETA. Manger kept saying that they got an overwhelming number of call in orders so kitchen is backed up and they were short staffed but during our 2 hours waiting, we saw at most 5 take orders pick ups. Of course if they were short staffed, they could've stopped taking phone orders but clearly they prefer angry costumers yelling at wait staff than turn away revenues. I just left this establishment after trying to go for brunch twice in one day. Initially, I joined the virtual waitlist - which advised that there was a 45-60 minute wait. Cool. I run errands instead.. thinking that I was killing time. Low & behold, once I get to this place.. they tell me that basically that waitlist is irrelevant & I needed to physically confirm in person. I'm sorry, but please explain wtf the point of a virtual waitlist is if you have to physically confirm your spot?! For some place that seems to be very heavily frequented, I would expect much better organization.. even more so with your waitlist. Then... your hostesses are very subpar as far as customer service. The wife had the sweet corn hash special and the watermelon juice, both she enjoyed. I had the Bacon Benedict which was very good and the right amount of food. We also shared a single banana granola pancake that was very good. The only reason this is getting a 4 instead of a 5 is because the coffee is TERRIBLE. I originally ordered a cold brew and it came out looking like iced tea. I sent it back and asked for a hot coffee, that was terrible too, just tasted like hot water. I go to plenty of places with terrible coffee, what made them loose the star over it was I said something to the hostess when we paid about how bad the coffee was and she said they get it a lot. I was in town in business and found this place to try for brunch. Service was good on Wednesday when I went alone so I decided to tell my coworkers about it for a Thursday brunch before work. Regrets to follow...Since it appeared that we had had perfect timing with our arrival, 4 tables being serviced, we thought we'd have quick service. Nope! There were 5 of us total and it took 13 min before we had any service to be asked "what would you like to drink?"and another 15 min before our orders were taken. (Approx 30 min to place drink and food orders) Thus it began...drink orders were incorrect for 3 of the 5 people. (Those took another 20 min to arrive) When the food finally came, over an hour after being there, it was incorrect for the Vegetarian and missing items for another 2. The Vegetarian returned the Market Scramble (All Veggies) 2 times. The first time they made it with All Meat (Farmhouse), the 2nd time it came out with chucks of ham! Have been here several times. Each time the food was good after mistakes were corrected by the kitchen.. Today was a totally different experience. I pulled wanting to grab breakfast because my Sugar was low and there didnt seem like a long wait The manager said good morning and asked was any one with me.. my response was no.. he said ok I have a table over here out of the sun, let me get it wiped off.. I sat down and waited. After 20 minutes I see 4 people of a different race than myself being seated at the same table . Being from a restaurant background I have to look at this in two ways. Either it was discriminatory because of race or was it becsuse there was a larger group than just me.. Either way I am a very unhappy patron and guess what the manager even tried to give a half-baked apology regarding the situation.. even came to my car.. It was treated very wrongly and doubt if I will return. My head is saying something but my gut is saying thing else. My salad was on the verge of spoiled, the tomato basil soup tasted like pizza sauce, my daughter found a string of plastic in her sandwich, we had to ask for spoons for the soup.
