I had visited First Watch down in Florida and I was so excited to learn that we had them in Jersey as well! Let me start off by saying that we came in around 11am on a Sunday and we're seated within seconds! This alone made my day. Our waitress was super sweet and informative. We ordered one of the Hash Brown bowls and a Traditional Breakfast. Everything was to die for! Unlike many other breakfast spots in the area, First Watch feels very authentic. The food being served looks and tastes fresh and real, unlike all the artificial/frozen dishes served by most other breakfast chains. I am a big fan of First Watch. But sadly they were not hitting on all cylinders when we came. Seated immediately, but the server seemed to be so occupied with other matters. Million dollar bacon was cold and tasted like $2 bacon. French toast with fruit...nah... very bland. And the Lemon Ricotta pancakes is something we probably will not order again. Food gets a 5 star Service gets 1 or less The people that are here are nice but they are really inattentive. We sat for 15 minutes without a single person saying hello. The waitstaff that was there seemed to be in no hurry to help or deliver food. Truthfully I am shocked. I have been out to eat so often and been to this franchise plenty of times but this experience was the absolute worst. With all that said the guy that finally did help us was so nice. I want to be fair here. We were actually pretty excited to checkout this spot for a while now. So we pivoted from Union Plaza Diner to First Watch. We got sat pretty quickly and requested to sit outside. Got out coffee very quickly and honestly, we got forgotten about. They were pretty understaffed for a Friday. Our waitress lost track of our food and apparently was manning the register and the tables outside. Other tables were experiencing the same thing. As it relates to the food, I got the power wrap and my pop got the work. It wasn't bad. Wasn't amazing either. But when you're missing condiments and already waited more than 30-40 minutes for food, sometimes a frustrating experience can take away from the taste. Didn't even get the check. Had to walk inside to pay. I likely won't be back since I don't live in the area BUT i do think if the restaurant can get the operations in order for waiters to do their job, and train them up to anticipate customer needs, really great spot for a quick bite with friends and family. Came here today for Sunday Brunch with my good friend. She received a coupon in the mail for a Buy One, Get One Free Entree #score. The wait time was about 10-15 mins for our table. We started with Summer Blush which was a refreshingly delicious juice drink. My good friend ordered the Tri-Fecta with a side of bacon which she meant to clarify that she wanted the Million Dollar Bacon but she got the regular bacon instead and it was nothing special like way too crispy. I ordered the Biscuits & Turkey Sausage Gravy because the other dishes have avocado (I am allergic) and multigrain (I am definitely not a healthy eater). Our server came over to our table with a wrong dish as she placed it in front of me then minutes later she realized and gave me my correct dish...smh! I was getting so annoyed because the servers kept kicking the legs of my chair as they were trying to squeeze between my chair and the other customer. Ummm it was quite hazardous to be carrying trays of hot beverages and food. There was so much space at the front of the restaurant...why not move the tables up so servers have a clear path to the kitchen...duh! The food was good but the service was eh. Where do I begin?! We sit down and don't see water/utensils for 10 minutes. We finally ordered food, and it was cold. They also were far less than generous on portion size. As for the eggs Benedict. The egg was barely cooked with the egg whites runny. They also put a weird lemon sauce on the food. I thought it was going to be a side salad but ultimately it was a few pieces of arugula on the eggs with a ton of lemon sauce. Bizarre. Lastly, service was a bit spotty. A couple tables are also outside. I got a tea because I felt 60 year white women. They gave me a various assortment of teas and a small kettle of water. I made my self 2 teas because the waitress was nice enough to give my coworker an extra mug even though she ordered an iced coffee. We'd come here both during and after social distancing and mask mandates, and both experiences were very similar. The tables felt just as close together both times, only difference today was patrons weren't wearing masks, but staff still was. Both our first time coming and today we were sat relatively quickly, if not immediately. And our food came out in what felt like a matter of minutes!!! I love their fresh squeezed juices and have tried their Morning Meditation and new, Watermelom Wake-Up!!! We came in specifically because we'd had a gift card from Christmas we hadn't used. Our food was good, not great. An elevated IHOP menu with cleaner and healthier options, if you will. I ordered my eggs over medium, and they came very runny and wet in the center once I broke the yolk. And if you're watching your sodium intake, their potatoes need no added salt! Average food with verrrry slow service. Our party of 5 was sat in just under an hour, and then another hour wait for our food (a bit much for eggs and pancakes). We ordered the million dollar bacon to start as soon as we sat but it was never brought out. When our waitress came over with the rest of our food, she said "they acted like they brought it out," something she would have easily known if she had checked on our table just once. The food on the menu sounded much better than it tasted & "The Traditional" breakfast was like a children's meal. I can understand if the restaurant was short staffed, but this did not seem to be the case as there were multiple servers and busboys. Glad Rt 22 got a brunch place other than iHOP. This place is new, industrialized- modern and spacious . It serves breakfast and lunch and closes at 2:30pm. I like that they serve a few juice tonics- I tried the Morning Meditation and enjoyed it! I also tried the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict that came on ciabatta with a side salad Coffee was ok .... but I like that they have Stevia on the tables which is nice . Menu had a lot of options including healthy options Service was ok/average. And you pay at the register once you're done you can add tip at the register so figure it out before you go up to pay. Very excited to finally try this place out. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and the vibe is nice. I love that the menu is very healthy. I HAD to try the morning meditation and I recommend you do the same. I chose to eat here because I've been craving pancakes and their pictures look good. Unfortunately my pancake didn't taste that fresh, maybe because the waiters were all busy they may have not brought my plate out when it was freshly done. I stopped by for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. My first issue is that the hostess didn't acknowledge us and we literally stood in front of her for 10 minutes while she was trying to figure out what was going on with her iPad. I was ready to leave but my boyfriend suggested that we stay. After putting our name down we waited about twenty minutes. Now the food was good. I would try this place again because I did enjoy my meal. The service was lacking. I asked for water and never got it. Our pancakes came without maple syrup and it took forever for the waitress to bring us some. Hopefully they work out the kinks because the food was pretty good. This is my second time here, and it was definitely worth the review. The first time I came, I ordered a drink that unfortunately isn't on the menu, but it was butterfly pea lemonade. The portion of this deliciousness was definitely for one person, which is ok because this place appears to be a spot for healthier eating options. Avocado toasts is one of the most popular thing on a brunch menu, the crab elevated it. Bite after bite, I couldn't get enough of it. We also shared a large order of the lemon ricotta pancakes. When I reached for the syrup dispenser (no handle), I was surprised that it was given to us warm. This is how syrup should be served at all places. My son had the Purple Haze drink, it's tart & sweet. Their coffee is on point. Service was really good given the many bad reviews about it. I was impressed with our waiter for taking our order without writing anything down. The manager also came by which I appreciate. Because I ordered take out I believe it was not as good as if I were to dine in. I only received 2 pieces of bacon in my skillet the cheese was also stuck to the bottom of the cardboard container as opposed to melted on top of the potatoes AND my avocado was black ...flavor wise it was great minus avocado which I took out completely! The smoked salmon benedict was hard to eat - the hollandaise was watery and tasted like lemon. I guess I won't get it right sometimes, because i was WRONG lol... also i imagine poached eggs was must the most difficult challenge in culinary school because most restaurants just don't get it right. We asked the server to bring the shareable items first then our mains. First item that comes out is one of the main dishes, then 15 minutes later the shareable plates come out. They give us our appetizers, with no sharing plates, so we were waiting for our server to return and after 15 mins of waiting, I had to get up from our table and walk back to the counter to ask someone for plates. About 20 mins later the rest of the mains come out (mind you they gave us the first main over half hour earlier) I ordered my eggs sunny side up and they were hard, my friend ordered his eggs poached and the egg yolk was hard inside. The "trifecta" was what I ordered, pork sausage was tasty, pancake was good. We started with the biscuit and gravy, that was good and tasty, the Floridian French toast was just ok, chewy bread, my friends ordered the eggs Benedict and it was ok, my other 2 friends had the different skillet breakfast, they said it was ok. When I went to the kitchen to see what the delay was, I saw all three of our meals sitting out in the cold. Apparently they were waiting on the country potatoes to be done cooking. We didn't see any cooks in the kitchen while we waited for the potatoes. When we finally got our food, our meals were cold, and we were missing the country potatoes. We had to ask for the potatoes 3 separate times. There was no reason why our food should have been sitting in the cold for that long. We were hungry, and in a rush, and ended up being 20 minutes late to work. This restaurant came highly recommended to us and we were utterly disappointed. I normally love First Watch. I've visited locations all over the east coast. It's normally a family favorite. However on this visit my daughter ordered a kids meal with pork sausage and the sausage was raw on the inside. I asked to speak to the manager and his response was "if you think it's raw" ..we check the temps and .... You can return there if you like but I do not spend money at places that take zero accountability.
