Creative sandwiches, burgers and hot entrees. We had a patty melt and a chicken sandwich - both were well seasoned and cooked well. Fries were crispy, just right. I've seen questionable reviews here and I'm not sure why. I've eaten here several times in one week during a business trip. Service and servers are exceptional. I was even asked how I liked my bacon and corned beef hash! That's never really happened elsewhere. Coffee is quickly refilled. I have had several people dining with me and no one has had a bad thing to say about the food or the service. The staff even makes recommendations that are logical and not about the upsell. I've had two eggs over easy with corned beef hash, also a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with both scrambled and fried eggs. Their French fries are among the best I've had. Crispy and hot. Tables are stocked with condiments and sugar substitutes are also available. Regulars here get treated like family. The parking is also abundant for this area. Front lot and back along with street parking seems not to be an issue. This is a positive experience for me all around. Add to it that no one is chasing you out to clear a table. read more

Well, upon entering the diner, we were seated right away by a gentleman then me and my daughter sat there for like about 20 minutes as a waitress (Tricia) walk by us and constantly waited on other people and never even asked us if we want anything to drink. what do we want or anything? I think we were invisible. Trisha would just go past us; people came in after us; Tricia took their order. Our order still was not taken so after a few more minutes we were getting aggravated and then I said well we can just leave and my daughter said well I'm gonna say something before I leave so we were getting ready to walk out and by the way that waitress Tricia is White. We were getting ready to walk out and a Spanish waitress named Pricilla came over and said excuse me, you weren't waited on yet and we said no and we're leaving and she said no don't leave drinks are on me. She said the girl that was supposed to wait on us was Tricia. Do you believe she went to tell Tricia that she never took our order and Tricia didn't care because she could at least have come back and apologized, but she didn't say one word .I hate to say this but I am going to say it anyways, I think the lady Tricia was a little racist . I was avoided like the plague. I simply ordered a takeout breakfast order over the phone. When I sat at the counter to pick it up, I was completely ignored MULTIPLE times. I flagged the employee, and was ignored again. I watched as the white patrons (that came AFTER me) were repeatedly serviced, by the female Hispanic employee, and I was just left to wait. Completely ignored. What a great way to start your day! A regular customer LOST. I will say that someone else, a very nice white female, apologized for my experience. I never like to bring race into things, but this was abundantly evident to me in the aforementioned scenario. Perhaps my skin color meant "I wouldn't tip". As a former restaurant employee, I always tip at LEAST 25% because I am very familiar with the system and the racial implications that are easily associated with such. According to the waitress, the diner is conserving and customers must ask for 2 slices of toast when they place their order.... Huh?........ @$#&#**@)#/.....according to industry standards, 2 slices of toast is the minimum offered. Also, customers were not notified in advanced of a policy change, thus giving them an option............ I guess next, you'll be cutting back on the volume of omelettes.. The Sunrise Diner pleasantly surprised me. Although they don't have stellar reviews, I was in the area and thought I should give them a try. The whole place was very clean, too, even the bathrooms. They have a very laidback and genuine vibe inside. The host and my waitress just did their jobs but were genuinely helpful and nice. You get a lot of food for the price. The chicken noodle soup was the best I'd eaten in a long time. I also thought that the included zucchini side was spiced really well. The chicken Francese was pretty good, but not outstanding. I even got included bread pudding. There were lots of available options, as diners often have. Thank you for your feedback. However, I did raise my concern with two employees. First, I raised it with my server. He replied by letting me know that the small serving was standard for that order. Second, when paying the bill, the cashier asked if everything was satisfactory, and I once again raised my concern. And, I was told the same response as the server. Since I did raise my concern to two of the employees, do you have any further suggestions? I don't usually write reviews, but I could not let this go. We really enjoyed our late diner here. Nothing fancy looking outside, plenty of parking and no wait. Greeted by a friendly Hostess and attended by a very good waitress who was efficient and caring. Inside was a clean environment with an extensive menu. We kept our orders simple- Bacon Cheeseburgers snd an order of Onion Rings. The burgers were prepared to order, they were juicy snd hot and most importantly - tasty. Onion Rings were plentiful, tasty and served hot too. Recently I was in Roselle Park, so I decided to stop at the Sunrise Diner.  I heard from friends the Sunrise Diner was good so I stopped. Atmosphere: The Sunrise Diner is everything you expect in a diner. There was a fair amount of parking (which for the area) surprised me. The inside has plenty of booths, tables, and a bar. One thing I appreciated was the salad bar. Not many diners I have a salad bar these days. Sunrise Diner Coffee: A The Sunrise Diner coffee was delicious. The waitress refilled it often and put lots of whipped cream on it. It was brewed hot and fresh and I was pleased. Food: The Sunrise Diner menu has everything a stereotypical diner typically has, plus more. I appreciated the full page of Sunrise Diner menu specials and the salad bar. I was between a few options and decided to order the mesclun salad with Swordfish. I don't know if I've had swordfish before at a diner, so I gave it a shot. The Sunrise Diner menu specials all come with soup, salad, a meal, and a dessert.  So much food!  Even the salad came with the salad bar. I decided to order my favorite soup split pea. It was one of the better split pea soups I've had. The salad bar was filled with greens, beets, beans, and all of the regular salad toppings. I decided to splurge on my salading and made a trip to the salad bar too. My mesclun salad with Swordfish was a lot bigger than anticipated. While the swordfish was slightly dry, I have no complaints.  The salad itself came with balsamic dressing, cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes.  As far as diner salads go, it was good. Dessert: I got my bread pudding to go and I was extremely pleased. The bread pudding was more bread than pudding, which is my favorite way to enjoy bread pudding. It was sweet but not overly sweet. In all, one of the better bread puddings I've had. Service: The waitress at the Sunrise Diner was great. She refilled my drinks often, made sure I was set, and my food came out quickly. I could not have had a better experience. Would I Come Back? If I'm in Roselle Park again, I'll come to the Sunrise Diner. It's an inexpensive but delicious stop. read more

I just tried to place a delivery order to an address that is 2.4 miles away from the restaurant and she lies and says that it is a 15 min drive one way when it is only an 8 min drive. I was in the area a Monday night around dinner time so I decided to stop in. I was very pleased with the food and service. Portions were generous and came with soup, salad and dessert. Prices were very reasonable. There was an older crowd there, mostly seniors and that was great because it was a nice, quiet ambiance. My chicken francaise was amazing! It's my favorite dish and I order it whenever I go out. They really did a good job. My daughter's burger was done a bit passed "medium" which is what she ordered, but she said it was still good. I've been here 2 times, so bear with me as I describe all the dishes my family and I ordered. FOOD: Pasta Bella with Grilled Chicken: Huge serving (pasta and chicken), cheesy, perfectly cooked pasta, served steaming hot, and flavorful. Served with soup and salad bar. Fried Calamari Basket: Tender calamari, moist/not dry, generous serving, not overly salty, breading is not thick, and seasoned well. Came with soup, salad bar, fries, and cole slaw. Baked Meatloaf with Mushroom Gravy: Large serving, many slices of tender meatloaf served on slices of white bread, and had decent flavor. Gravy tasted a bit sour, though. Came with soup, potato, salad bar, and vegetable. Fried Shrimp Basket: Plentiful, freshly fried, crispy, and seasoned well. Came with soup, salad bar, fries, and cole slaw. Fish & Chips: Decent. Fish used tasted extra fishy, came with 4 medium-sized pieces, batter was thin, fries were freshly fried. Came with cole slaw. Roast Ham with Stuffing and Gravy: Good, didn't like the apples mixed into the stuffing, though. The ham was shaved thin, gravy was decent, side of red cabbage was pretty good, and serving was plentiful. Came with soup, salad bar, vegetable, and potato. Access to the salad bar is included in many lunch and dinner options; it's listed on the menu, so you will know which items are included. The salad bar is small but clean, while the vegetables, toppings, and types of dressings available are fresh. SERVICE: Bridgette was the waitress who wrote down my table's order both times I was here. She is incredibly friendly and sweet, and does a fantastic job of making you feel right at home. read more

Stopped in for breakfast while waiting for a flat tire to be fixed across the street. My server was very friendly and helpful. Greek omelette was solid if basic and they definitely know how to fry potatoes in this joint. (My one recommendation is to the chefs to be a little more careful as I found a hair in my food, which kind of put an end to eating. My server offered to bring me something else, which was nice. When I first came to New Jersey about five years ago I had my first diner meal in the area at the Sunrise Diner. I found it nicely decorated, with a friendly staff and good food. Fast forward to 2009, and sadly things have gone downhill. Just look at the sign outside the diner and you'll see part of what's wrong. Several signs have been nailed to the main sign advertising cheap buffets, all you can eat etc. The diner is slowly changing itself into ... something else but not really a diner. But more on that in a moment. The interior has gotten a bit depressing. The front desk/cashier used to have candies and all sorts of things for sale and of course the requisite mints on the way out. Now? Nothing. The place isn't being upkept as well as it used to be and the staff is just totally uninterested. The day we went, we were seated promptly, but our waitress was so busy talking to customers she knew and chit chatting after a half hour and two requests, I never got a bottle of Tabasco sauce I had asked for. I will grant however that realizing her error, she took half off one of our buffet costs, but it was still really annoying. The diner seems to be changing itself more into a buffet style place. As I flipped through the menu, I saw well over a dozen items blacked out or pasted over with stickers. It was really messy looking. That said, the breakfast buffet I had was a steal. For $8, all you can eat and it includes getting omelets and eggs straight from the kitchen. To be honest, the food was actually good. The pancakes and french toast were light and fluffy, the grits nicely cooked and tasty and there was a bread pudding with cheese that totally rocked. It was a great combination of moist, sweet bread with some saltiness on top. Their Canadian bacon was also surprisingly moist and flavorful, not too salty and not too sweet. I left with mixed feelings about this place. I enjoyed the food, but between the bad service, depressing decor and sad looking menu I just felt, well, sad. And that's not how I want to leave any restaurant. Basically if you need a lot of food for a cheap price, check this joint out but don't expect good service or the nicest environment. read more

No one came to serve. Not even glassess of water were placed.
