The sandwich was delicious, although I felt it could use a little more meat. They went cheap, but still satisfying. The winner of the show was the pastel de nata. Tasted different than a traditional one from the famous Teixeira's bakery in Newark, but in a good way. Slightly sweeter and creamer, and it came out warm straight from the oven. Park out front, or on residential streets around the corner. Get fresh daily baked baguettes, French boules, Italian breads and rolls, and whole wheat loaves. Especially known for their hamburger and hot dog rolls, or "longs" as they are called, sausage and pepperoni breads, and ring-shaped pizza breads. Also, butter croissants, sfogliatelle, and Italian cookies. Also cheesecakes, cannolis, tarts and other pastries when the baker is so inclined. They also sell fresh pizza dough. The people in the shop are kindly, and prices are cheap. Walking in here is like a time warp which takes me back to my childhood. My aunt and uncle lived a block up from this place, and one of my earliest food memories as a kid was summer cookouts in their backyard. My uncle made great Newark-style deep-fried Italian hot dogs w/peppers & onions on these rolls.
