I've been coming to this bakery ever since I tried their empanadas years ago at a friend's potluck and had to find out where they were from. Since then, it's my go-to spot in the area for delicious Colombian sweets and snacks. You know it's legit when nearly all of the staff speaks Spanish--it gives me a great chance to practice! It's a very popular place, so they can run out of items quickly, but even if you try something new, it will still be tasty. Ample seating is available for lunch. I waited over 20 minutes to be served while multiple customers who arrived after me were helped first. I was sitting there, clearly waiting, and continued to be ignored as others were taken ahead of me. There was no explanation, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to correct it. The experience felt discriminatory and extremely unprofessional. Regardless of the reason, this is not how customers should be treated. I will not be returning and hope management addresses how customers are prioritized and treated. read more

I ended up having dinner here on a whim, had planned to watch the World Cup in Elizabeth but it was absolutely packed at the popular Colombian spots and after driving around a bit, we gave up and on a whim stopped here to watch the game. There were some fans also watching and cheering, but it was much calmer which is perfect for me anyway. The service was very friendly, I enjoyed my maduros and the Bandeja Paisa was large enough to share too. Rice was seasoned, beans were tasty, chicharron crispy / just right. The steak was what you would expect, thin but wasn't chewy. The sausage was bursting with flavor and tasty seasoning. We also had a few pastries but it was the end of the night so they probably would have been better in the morning. Overall a good time, family friendly spot and I'd recommend stopping in. Food here is decent. Don't think I've had Colombian before so I can't comment on how authentic it was. Portions are fairly big Ordered the Steak with garlic sauce, which was listed as premium, although it really tasted like mid grade meat at best. It was also drenched in creamy garlic sauce which made it extremely heavy. I think this dish is best shared, as it really is too heavy to consume by one person. There was no AC (at least the day we visited), so the restaurant was extremely muggy. We were all dripping with sweat. Everytime someone opened the door to enter, it was a moment of relief as some breeze from outside entered. Virtually no parking, although we were able to find a spot across the street. Our waitress did not really speak English, but we were able to communicate fine. I had lunch here with a work colleague. I've been a going to other Colombian restaurants in Elizabeth but I was told to try this place. We shared a couple of beef empanadas and cheese breads. I got the steak with onion with side of rice and beans. My guy got the bandeja de paisa. I think what shines here are the baked goods. they tasted more free than other places around the area. the entrees missed their marks a bit. The steak I got was very tough and more over cooked to my liking. The beans were cold upon arrival. The staff were nice but it definitely helps if you know Spanish. credit card accepted. parking may be an issue. I get nervous parking my car on a busy double yellow lines road. and I don't want to park too far away since is near Elizabeth. I'm trying to get lunch and go back to work. Cute place with great service! However the food was horrible! Worse Colombian place in town. My husband ordered churrasco al ajillo cooked medium temp. When he got it, the meat was not churrasco (which is skirt steak). It was like a sirloin and it was so over cooked that the meat was hard. The white rice was pasty and had no salt. We also order penne Al vodka with shrimp. The pasta was over cooked, super mushy and the shrimp were either over cooked or reheated because they tasted rubbery. The empanadas were also reheated, not fresh at all. The chicken breast was good, but that's not hard to get wrong. Would not recommend this place at all and will not be going back. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast and it was the worst sandwich I've ever had. I was not asked what kind of bread nor cheese/ham I wanted. The lady rushed to the back and came back with a croissant (Im in a Colombian bakery, I wanted Colombian bread) but ok..with a huge slice of cheese and ham. This is my first time trying out la Casa Del Pan. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy we were greeted by the host immediately and sat wherever you wanted to. I've been here several times in the past 3 years. A friend brought me here my first time. Every time they are friendly and attentive even though the place is busy. I've only come for breakfast so my review is based on that. Everything I've had has always been fresh, tasty, well prepared, and reasonably priced. I'm sure everyone had issues with hair in their food from other restaurants, but the employees wouldn't remake what I order "desayuno de casa" or get a refund for it. I wish I could've taken a photo to show, but as soon as I got it back in a container I threw it away... Also, the empanadas weren't to filling, I'll just recommend everyone to just go down the street where there's a better Colombian bakery. Update: forgot this was saved in my drafts! I usually love this place but I had a bad experience today. My server took our order while we were still standing and our apps and meal came at the same time. Wasn't paying attention to our table at all kind of ignored us. The soup was good and so was my chicken. The sides however I would pass. Their potato salad is HORRIBLE!!! I BROKE MY DIET TO EAT THEIR EMPANADAS AND PANDEBONO. I'm so in love with this bakery. I found out about this place when my friend brought empanadas and pandebono to a potluck from La Casa Del Pan. Since then I've been going here for all my Colombian cravings. I honestly think they are the best bakery in the area, and I have tried plenty of other bakeries from Elizabeth..nothing compares to this place from Union. It's also very nice inside, a decent amount of outdoor and indoor seating. Everytime I go, this places is popping with customers, but it doesn't take me too long to get stuff from the bakery--anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on the line. I also get meals from here as well. My favorite thing so far is the seafood casserole (cazuela de mariscos). But ive had many other dishes and all of them were very very good. Next time I'm going to bring more of my friends to try out the empanadas and other food. I also want to try some of their juices and desserts next time! I will be here often, thats for sure! I would give this place a 5 but I feel they should invest more in the interior of their restaurant like carpets, flooring, and space. First love the staff. They were all super cool, attentive and nice. We did not have food but the people around me who did made it look delicious and smelled really good. Since we were having an early dinner we decided to have coffee, natural juices and some tasty treats. The empanadas were filled from top to bottom and even though they are small they are very filling. All the breads we tried, pan de yuca, pan de bono, and bunuelos were delicious, steamy, and fresh. We used to go to another Colombian spot, (I won't say the name) which was good too but this place is just better!! There's a small parking lot next to it plus street parking, but the place is small so it's kind of annoying when it gets packed, but I promise you it's worth it! Service is usually very good!
