We've tried to give this First Watch location a couple of opportunities to win our confidence. On the first visit, my eggs arrived scorched and brown and my husband's pancake was cold Checked in via the First Watch app to get in line. Wait was approx 40 minutes. Waited for hostess to come and greet me at the "5 minute mark" per the app. The hostess tells me " our internet is down". Fortunately wait was about five minutes Food was 10x better than last time. Finally made it back, and the food is still great! Saturday mornings here are just rough as they are SUPER busy, so plan for a wait. At 10am we had a 30+ min wait; could have been worse I guess, but there's nowhere to stand so it's a bit awkward (fyi- it was pouring rain, otherwise I think it would have been fine to wait outside). Anyway, finally seated, it took way too long to bring coffee (about 10+ min after we ordered it) but once we had it everything started rolling along fine. The food here is amazing, so it covers over many of the inconveniences that may occur during the visit. I had The Works omelet and it was amazing. I love how they pair it with the mixed greens salad tossed in wonderful vinaigrette, a perfect pairing! Their ingredients are absolutely fresh and of very good quality which just makes every dish taste inspired. It is definitely a step up from other breakfast/brunch fair offered elsewhere. Visiting here always has its moments, but as long as they keep their food as tasty as I have experienced I'll be back again for sure. Maybe I'll have to try a weekday... read more

Aside from the crowds, which are out of their control, I thought it was amazing. They accommodated our large party and they kept our coffee and water filled despite the crowd. The service was also fast and attentive despite the crowd as well. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. The biscuits were a little dry despite covered in gravy but it was still very good. Ordered a side pancake and it was almost crispy which I thought was great. Skylar was our server! She was very sweet and personable. She checked on us often to make sure we were doing okay. My go-to's at First Watch are the biscuits and gravy and the salmon Benedict w/ a good kale tonic! I like that their biscuits and gravy is served with turkey sausage. I wish more restaurants would consider those that don't like pork. The potatoes were well seasoned and the eggs weren't cooked too hard. Did the register ahead so were able to get seated within 10 minutes. That was the best part of our experience. Interesting how they take names when come in, sort of chaotic. I ordered the tri-fecta, got two eggs, 1 piece of sausage for about $12. My pancake arrives about 10 minutes after I had eaten. Our waitress was non-existent, she did ask if I wanted a drink refill when she came by the one time, but I never saw her again My partner ordered the green chili hash, it looked nothing like the picture on their website. My husband and I had a good meal on a busy Saturday morning. The service was great and we didn't wait more than 10 minutes between ordering and eating. I had the pumpkin pancake breakfast. The pancake was delicious. It also came with two eggs and a piece of sausage. My husband had a regular pancake and a side of biscuit and gravy. Fantastic breakfast and brunch spot! My boyfriend brought me here for a nice brunch date and it was sooo good. Very inviting atmosphere and very clean as well. So first of all our waiter Deven was great, so polite and very good at his job. He made sure we were taken care of and made great suggestions as far as drinks and foods to try. My boyfriend wanted to try a drink but wasn't sure how he would like it, Deven brought him a sample and let him try it first before ordering it, great customer service!! The food was amazing. Let me just say the million dollar bacon! OMG I would go back just to order the bacon, it was absolutely amazing and delicious. Drizzled with syrup, pepper and cayenne pepper it's so flavorful and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the banana foster French toast and it was absolutely incredible! So yummy ! It saddens me to write this review because I've enjoyed my other visits to first watch in 3 other cities; but not this one in O'Fallon. The 2 stars are pretty much based on service and atmosphere. Just a month ago this place was Egg & I; the food was delicious. (Sigh) now it no Bueno for me and at least 3 of my friends. I love how they opened up the floor plan and made it more accessible to the entrance. However; The food is... how can i put this... horrible!!!!!! Why on earth would they change the menu so dramatically?!? I understand its a "different" business but if it ain't broke.... you know the rest. Now im all for second chances so after my 1st visit where my eggs were powder dry and my potatoes had no flavor; I returned and left still hungry (sigh). Second visit; grits were gritty, potatoes no flavor again but my eggs were moist. I don't think i ask for much just some seasoning on my potatoes, creamy grits, flurry/moist eggs; you know a well cooked breakfast. I wont be returning to this location. I must say this place has the right idea but wrong floor plan to accommodate breakfast goers. Our first visit and, would not be the last, was a mix of smiles and frown. You notice the plural smiles and single frown. This is because I have many to smile about and only one frown regarding this place. Where do I begin with the smiles? Well, lets start with the entrance and greeting. The host or seater was pleasant and directed us to a table immediately. Realizing how busy this place was during Saturday morning was no surprise; being seated immediately was! Just remember people "a couple is quicker to seat than a group" (SMILE) Table was clean and had all the usual condiments. Atmosphere was cosy and loud: typical of a busy restaurant. Waitress greeted us with a smile and a welcome and offered the all comforting coffee. She had other tables to serve which gave us time to look over the menu. Diverse selection and not what Dennis would serve so THANK GOD! I opted for the frittata rustica. (SMILE) was so good and healthy. The service was (SMILE) excellent and so that we will request her next visit. Bathroom was clean and with pleasant aroma. I am assuming it is routinely checked quite often since it maintained the clean appearance with so many customers. (SMILES) Price was acceptable. Now to the only frown. And, this refers to the layout of the place. tables were to close to others and our was located along the path from kitchen door to front entrance.(FROWN) Concerned me cause I felt a wait staff would pass by and bump me while I am eating. Okay so the wait was a bit long but it was a beautiful Saturday. We enjoyed our meals. Sat outside which was perfect and recommended. Inside is a bit too crowded considering masks come off when you eat. We got some biscuits & gravy, potatoes, carnitas omelet, and a chickalinga or something like that, and the lemon ricotta pancakes. We are from out of town and are here visiting family. Not knowing where to go for breakfast, we decided to try First Watch since it was near our hotel. We are happy we took a chance because everything was delicious and the service was amazing, Sarah was so nice and always checking on us :) The multi-grain pancakes were the BEST I have had in my LIFE!! First and last trip to a first watch. Server was terrible, didn't take the order I placed, modified it to be "easier" and didn't come confirm. Placed a random side without asking, when asked - no, sorry. No offer to get it right etc. Eggs, all kinds were terrible. Over easy = over medium. Scrambled = burnt and dry. Tried to kiss up at the end to save face but could tell she was tip fishing. Don't go here, wasted $74 for the three of us to survive this breakfast experience. read more

First Watch rarely fails. We love this place. The only thing I can fault them for is that my eggs were a little undercooked for my liking. Everything else was on point. Huge props to our server, Ashley. This young lady deserves a raise. She was kind, helpful, and attentive. If I was rating this experience solely on her service, it would be 10 stars. This location could use some training from the West County store. Food was not well prepared: dry and rubbery scrambled eggs, untoasted "toast," under dressed salad, lack of condiments. However, the issue here was service. Our server ignored our table for 10 minutes after being seated, greeted and served people seated after we were, and then she was abrupt and disengaged. Food runners brought our our meals in fragments, and our server was a rare sight after that. I don't want to speculate on why we were pushed to the bottom of service priority. I can get past the food being less than FW standards, but rude service is a deal breaker. read more

1) A few months ago, me bestoe and I decided to have a late breakfast at the O'Fallon illinois location. We did call ahead. We got there, and the doors were locked. They came to the door said they'd had an emergency (it happens) and we would be last sat. After awhile of waiting, we were served beverages which were not the normal quality. Then the waitress returns and says " you all don't want to eat do you? Well, um , yea, it's a restaurant. Apparently the manager had had a medical issue and the cooks were refusing to cook and the servers were trying to negotiate with them as well as cook. Emergencies are unexpected and understandable. However, they should have just said we can't accommodate you today. 2) Had family in town and it is ou tradition to go to first watch and have breakfast before they leave town. It happened to be mother's day weekend. Because of that, I completed call ahead seating at 930 am expecting there would be a long wait. It quoted me approximately 11:15 am. We were fine with that. At 10:50 I was notified our table would be available soon and to proceed to the restaurant. We checked in at, 11. At 1145 we still hadn't been sat. I approached the hostess stand to inquire and was informed that there were 27 parties ahead of us. TWENTY SEVEN! I don't even think that location had 27 tables. We called ahead and at that moment had been waiting 2 hours and 15 mi. For a table and that was 45 minutes past the time I was ASKED to show up. The response was our app does that. Then, frankly, get a new app. Zero concern or empathy or problem resolution. We went to jersey Mike's instead. read more
