I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. What I like is that it's a relatively quiet place - no loud music. The tv's play but they are not loud. The waitresses are great - kind, professional and attentive. The food is always good and quick in coming out. My father and I come here often. :) Tonight, a gentleman (perhaps an owner) came over and wished me a Happy Mother's Day. He didn't know that I wasn't a mother, however, He also didn't know how badly I needed that very kind gesture. We recently lost my mother and she frequently ate here with my father, too. My daughter, granddaughter, and I ate breakfast there this morning. Our waitress, Kacie, was excellent. With that said, our 3 year old granddaughter, who is on the autistic spectrum, was having a morning. Another waitress (did not catch her nametag) had the audacity to come over and ask us to make her stop climbing (which she was not) and to keep her quiet because others are trying to eat. We found this statement to be extremely rude and unnecessary as our granddaughter was not disturbing the eating experience of the other patrons. I visit St Louis often this has been one of my favorite places to have breakfast! The portion sizes aren't overwhelming the skillets are delicious and their homemade hot sauce so addictive I had to buy a bottle to bring back home in New England! Service is amazing we love Sam! So, we've been here 3 times. The 1st time was good. I got the whole catfish that was impressive. Got a salad and broccoli and was happy. The 2nd time, I got a pork chop and soup. The soup was absolutely horrible and I sent it away and wasn't charged. But, we went a couple nights ago; I got 1/2 slab of bbq ribs (they r baked) with homemade coleslaw and clam chowder. Keep in mind, the young server told me the soup is frozen and the only side actually made in house is the coleslaw. My fiancé got 2 pork chops and salad. The ribs fell off the bone but was swimming in bbq sauce and it was hard to taste anything other than the sauce. The clam chowder had nothing in it and was horrible. The coleslaw was so full of mayonnaise, it was inedible. The pork chops were so tough, she couldn't cut them. I had to put my shoulder into it. She lost her appetite and sent it back and was told she would still have to pay for it or get something in its place which was very uncool since the server/manager acknowledged they were overcooked. The young server said, "the cooks aren't American and sometimes mess up some dishes." WOW. What an admission!! We just got the liver and onions to go which is very good. But we will not return even though they even offered a free dessert. Service is great but they need to nix soups other than French Onion soup. Too bad. read more

First timers to the Round Table Cafe. They were open on the Fourth of July and we were hungry. Wow! Just coming in the door we were greeted with a smile and a welcome. I'm going to start off by saying that we got really good food and service here the first couple of times we came here and the servings are always good sized but today may very well be the last time we come back. When we came in there were only a handful of tables filled and more than enough wait staff. We were seated, waitress took our drink order and left, 5-10 minutes later a new waitress came by and asked to take our drink order, we let her know we had placed the drink order already but she asked us to give it to her again. So then we waited again, she came back and got our food order and dropped off drinks (which was incorrect but life happens right?). We waited for 15 minutes before a salad and fried mushrooms came out then the first waitress comes by and asks for our food order again. At this point we ended being there for just over an hour and are getting antsy for food yet we watched another table get to their table and get food before we did. Now I'm ready to leave after paying for the services we got, appetizers and drinks, but here comes our food so we decided to stick it out. We get into our food to find one plate covered in seasoned salt, the syrup for pancakes was watered down horribly, and a hair in the pork chops. Now it sounded like some tense words happening in the kitchen and the lead waitress told us that 2 people didn't show up for their shift when we asked to speak with a manager. There were plenty of excuses for the service but they did take the two meals that had hair in it and the one that was covered in seasoned salt off our ticket. I'm leaving 2 stars today because while it could've been much better (as we have experienced in the past) it also could've been worse. Hopefully they get their staffing and management issues resolved soon as this was/is one of my family's favorite places to eat out. read more

I like the Round Table Cafe. We have been for breakfast a few times and will likely go back more before we leave the area. I don't have any specific complaint about it as a business or a place to get a good meal. Our orders have been correct and well prepared (not spectacular but good enough), the staff is friendly and effective, its mostly clean. There is parking (my number one requirement for a place to become a regular destination). So now let me go off on a tangent. I'm not sure what I was expecting but what the place actually is- isn't. I thought it was going to be a local , home-spun place with this charming gimmick of only having round tables. It doesn't; in fact it seems like maybe it was a Denny's or some other chain place. So therein is one of my "so-so" feelings about it. They seem stuck squarely between warm local and cold corporate. I always sit there feeling like I'm in a movie set or something. There is a feeling of being not quite "finished" in terms of decor/feel/function of the restaurant. I think if that Restaurant Impossible (not that Round Table is failing) were still around this place would be a great candidate. Actually convert the space into a cozy "local spot"- get all rounds tables (otherwise why have that name), reduce the menu and be really good at a few things. read more

The Round Table Cafe recently opened in the space formerly occupied by the American Patriot Grill in front of Marco's on Main in West Belleville. They have a very extensive menu. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. BBQ. Salads. Eggs. Belgian Waffles. Chicken. Beef. Fish. Burgers. Sandwiches. Gyros. Country Cooking. Steaks. Senior menu items (a senior is defined as age 62 and older). Cake. Pie. Ice cream. Reasonable prices. They have refills on iced tea, soda, coffee, and lemonade. Waitstaff seems to be experienced and well-trained. Both the inside and outside of the restaurant have been extensively redecorated. The new owners installed a modern point-of-sale system and rearranged the seating. The server did a great job taking care of me today. Answered any questions I had. I will warn diners that with a menu as large as this one, they are still learning its ins and outs. So be patient. Today, I had the Salmon Caesar Salad. it was quite tasty. The dressing was very tangy. Croutons were fresh. There was NO iceberg lettuce in the salad which was a plus. The salmon filet was served with the skin and had no bones present. The salad came with a choice of soup. I had Chicken Noodle. It was served hot with an assortment of different crackers. Also noticed that the table had Tabasco Sauce along with salt and pepper and a large selection of jellies for toast. Background music plays in the dining area. They had printed menus you could take home for reference. When you come in the door, they have a white board listing all the specials and soups of the day. I rated them four stars for two reasons: (1) The floor runner coming from the kitchen, past the restrooms really needed to be swept or vacuumed. (2) The men's restroom was so cold you could hang meat in it and the electric hand dryer was very warm but the blower fan is about to die. Regardless, I recommend Round Table Cafe. But the waitress was a piss poor excuse. After finally getting drinks and ordering, we asked only 1 more thing from our waitress and that was more drinks and AL. Never saw her again till it was time to pay. I took what was left of my cold food home and left no tip. She was full of excuses. 5 tables and to waitress and still got shitty service with excuse after excuse. Alittle does she not know, I know the industry.
