The staff was very friendly but somewhat inattentive. This was a bit frustrating to me because the breakfast was very good all things considered. Terrific hometown restaurant of days gone by. I used to come here when it was Don Kaffers back in the 80's. I enjoyed an order of biscuits and gravy with side of crispy bacon. This was the very first place we ate when we arrived in July 2017 . I had reported for duty at Scott AFB. It was our first Saturday in a new house, we hadn't really stocked the fridge yet. This little gem was close...that was all we knew. Over the years Main Street became "church"...nearly every Sunday we ate breakfast there (actually only meal we have ever had there...became weird goal to only ever have breakfast). Anyway, over the past few years it was our comfort, something to look forward to. Then comes Covid-19. They closed, like everyone, for a while. Then there were fits and starts, we missed it, in that time we changed our ways, lost a combined 100 lbs. We are getting ready to leave this wonderful little town and head back to the crowded, frantic, rat race of Maryland. There are no Main Street Cafes (that I am aware of), only chain "diners". Maybe we will make it a mission to find one. So this morning we did carry-out (only option) for the first time. Every bite was coming home, every taste exactly like July 2017, even out of a styrofoam box. My favorite employee was still there, first bright smile that ever took care of us there. We are all 3 years older, the smile is still heartwarming. I type with a tear forming in my eye. We will miss Main Street Cafe. It doesn't have to be perfect, no business ever is. Very DISAPPOINTED with Dinners here! We went back to this West Main Street Cafe for dinner with our friends. My spouse had the 18 oz Porterhouse steak. Steak was very thin and not very tender. My spouse asked for steak to be cooked medium and it was cooked Well done. Then I ordered the Meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf was burnt and did not taste good. It was very Dry and pieces were Burnt! Tasted Terrible! We enjoyed the salad bar and the baked potato. But, we were Very, very Disappointed with our dinners this evening. My advice is Stay with the Breakfast selections. I use to really love coming here. Throughout time the food quality and service has diminished. They keep taking things away as time goes. ie. sliced boiled eggs with your salad, cinnamon butter with your French toast, and much more. The wait staff talks A LOT! It gets to the point where I get frustrated. I'm sorry, but I came here to eat, not to hear your life story. We had breakfast here this morning. This assuming restaurant is amazing. The food was delicious, hot and so reasonably priced. My husband had a ham & cheese omelet with hash browns. I had the sausage breakfast which came with 4 sausages, 2 eggs and hash brown, it also came with a biscuit and gravy. I did order a side of grits. We both had drinks. I just had a straight up humiliating experience here. I placed an order via DoorDash and came when I was notified that it was ready for pick up. When I showed up they seemed surprised and then I ended up waiting another 30 minutes during which time everyone avoided eye contact and did not exalt acknowledge my existence or address the fact that no food was coming. I honestly wouldn't of minded waiting. It was just very uncomfortable to be treated like an obstacle in the way rather than someone who had paid for two meals. Finally, I spoke to the original waitress. I met and asked and asked if my food was being cooked and she condescendingly told me that it takes 30 minutes to which I responded that I placed the order over 50 minutes ago and she got mad and walked away. But not before saying that it was "up to me if I wanted to wait" as if I had not already paid for the meal. I tried to get a refund. Eventually they brought the food. I told the waitress that it was very rude of her to speak to me like that she tried to again tell me this was my fault for ordering from them? A grown woman arguing like a preteen! I'm deeply disappointed that I can't go back to my favorite fried chicken place because that was awful. Shout out to the kitchen staff though read more

We where in Belleville at Christmas time so on Christmas day I was surprised to see that this restaurant was opened. We went here about 12 pm and they were serving breakfast and lunch. The menu maybe available all day They is a salad bar, something you don't see often. I ordered the Patty melt and onion rings. The waitress was friendly and our order came out fast. You can add the salad bar for $2.00. The Patty melt so a little greasy, I'd rate it okay it wasn't the best I've had. The onion rings were disappointing they tasted like they're frozen to long and didn't have much flavor. The restaurant was clean and the restroom was clean. read more

If you love a home-cooked meal, I highly recommend this cozy cafe. I'm not too fond of fish but my husband had me try a bite of his and I like it. It didn't have a fishy flavor. The seasonings they use in their batters are excellent. The service was a bonus. My husband is sarcastic. So we got a server who gave it right back (playfully). This is a local go to for a quick meal. Their breakfasts are very good portions. They have a very full menu and offer a large variety including a salad bar. Their food is always consistent. The service fluctuates but is always friendly and mostly timely. With a service consistency I would move them up a star. Booth and table seating ambiance. Nice decor but to standard for my taste. It's easy to find along main street with a big sign out front. Parking is plentiful, with a row adjacent to the building. This is also where the handicapped spaces are. Other spaces are across a traffic lane, but still pretty close to the door. We were greeted on entering and seated right away. Seating is a mix of tables and booths. It's an older restaurant but still looks pretty clean and there is newer paint on the walls. Many of the seats are worn, but nothing of real concern. Our drink order was taken when we were seated, and the drinks came out in a few minutes. It barely gave us enough time to decide what we wanted to eat. Our food came out on about 15 minutes. The hungry man breakfast has two eggs, sausage and bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit and gravy. The eggs were a bit less done than ordered, but not bad. The sausage and bacon were both cooked as ordered. The hash browns were a bit soft, but not soggy. They had a lot of flavor. The biscuit and gravy were good, with the gravy bordering on great. The strawberry French toast was a major hit. The berries tasted fresh, and the French toast was really good. It was a filling meal, and every bite was savored. Main street is a pretty good place where you can get a good meal for a good value. read more
