Loved the cozy, well worn locally owned vibe. Totally packed at 11:30am on a Sunday, but no wait. Service friendly and attentive. Menu is huge and includes sandwiches, salads etc for lunch and dinner, but my understanding is they earned their rep from breakfast, and indeed they have a wide variety of various egg, omelette, and pancake options available. I'm visiting Belleville for a few days to attend an event with my home-town family. I grew up here in Belleville but have now lived longer in Philadelphia than I lived in Illinois. I was happy to have breakfast here with my aunt and 2 very good friends. This is my aunt's favorite place to grab breakfast and I can see why. So many really good choices of omelettes, nice breakfast specials and very decent diner food. My omelette was cooked well and was filled with all the vegetables that were listed on the menu. It came with hash browns that were crispy and potato-y and a really good biscuit. Everyone was more than satisfied with their order and the service was quick and friendly! If you go with low expectations with a lot of time to waste and want cozy diner, then this is your spot. This is our go to place on the weekends for breakfast. The food is delicious, our server Othel is truly the gem at this location. It's the caring service as he gives menu ideas, actually butters your pancakes before bringing them to you just is GREAT at his job, and leaves you with a feeling you went to see a friend. The owners seemed to have done some upgrades on the space so it's a great neighborhood place. Prices did just go up, but it's sure to happen in current status of our economy in Bidens' world. Service is always good. I always call in and they're to the point where they greet my by name on the phone and already know what I want and how I like it. I get chocolate chip pancakes and they are LARGE. The pancakes are my favorite. The eggs are ok and so is the meat. You might get a shell but at least you know they use real eggs! Went this afternoon for the first time. I had the country fried steak special, it was homemade... Prices were really affordable, food was good but the service was excellent. In the days of COVID, service is almost non existent anymore and businesses act like they could care less if there employees or service is sub standard. We stopped in this restaurant for breakfast because it had 4 stars, but during our visit they didn't have any coffee supposedly the coffee maker shuts itself off randomly but they offered us warm coffee which obviously we declined and ordered hot chocolate. I got the crepes combo. I was surprised to see that I got just plain crepes. Typically when I order crepes they come with a type of creme not these. I had to ask the waitress why wasn't there any filling, she said oh you want filling in it..well I didn't order thin pancakes with syrup lol. So she brought me strawberry filling. Apparently Plain, Blueberry and strawberry are option but she never mentioned when I ordered so she brought out plain crepes. Bacon wasn't cooked when ordered, it was stiff and cold. Hot chocolate wasn't what we wanted but it was all they had other than sodas. We were the only patrons in the restaurant so not sure why the lack of food quality and beverage.
