We went to this restaurant for the very first time for breakfast on Sunday. It was a little jaunt, from our house but well worth the trip. For a little tiny restaurant, the place was packed with people and people were waiting to be seated. We sat on chairs, which was wonderful for me. I had two medium eggs, four sausages, and two pancakes with real squeezed orange juice, which was delicious. I enjoy their food very much. My husband had two eggs over, medium with corned beef, hash, and biscuits and gravy, and decaf coffee which was quite good, and they gave you plenty amounts of everything. Food was really delicious. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I experienced at the Pancake House in Belleville today. I was picking up food for myself and others while at work, and when I arrived, I realized that one of the orders was not what I wanted. I brought it to the cashier's attention at the time of payment so that it could be corrected. The cashier was polite, understood what I was asking for, and entered the correction appropriately. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple correction turned into a completely unnecessary and uncomfortable confrontation. Dennis, the cook, came out of the kitchen and into the lobby visibly upset and began arguing with me about the order. He repeatedly stated that he takes the order every day from the young lady who normally places it and that he "never gets it wrong." I explained that I was actually one of the people eating the food and that, although we may normally order something else, I wanted something different today. Instead of simply accepting that explanation and preparing what I requested, Dennis became increasingly argumentative and seemed personally offended that I did not want my "usual" order. At that point, this was no longer about an incorrect order. It became about the way I was being treated as a paying customer. I asked Dennis several times to please walk away from me and return to the kitchen because there was no reason for a cook to be standing in the lobby arguing with a customer over what that customer chose to order. He continued engaging with me despite my repeated requests for him to walk away. I then asked to speak with a manager and was told there was NO MANAGER ON DUTY. That is especially concerning. If an employee becomes confrontational with a customer and refuses to disengage when repeatedly asked, there should be someone in a supervisory position available to intervene. Mistakes happen. Orders get misunderstood, and customers sometimes decide they want something different from what they normally order. None of that should result in an employee coming out of the kitchen angry and confronting a customer in the lobby. I was not asking Dennis to defend his cooking or his ability to remember a regular order. I was simply asking to receive the food I wanted and was paying for. The cashier handled the correction appropriately. Dennis's behavior, however, was unnecessary, argumentative, unprofessional, and made an otherwise simple transaction extremely uncomfortable. Management/ownership should seriously address how customer concerns are handled and why there was apparently no manager available to intervene. Customers should be able to correct or change an order without being confronted by an employee because they chose not to order their usual meal. read more

There is not a single bad thing I could say about this place. We came in on a Sunday morning, which is a given that it'll be packed and it was. But walking in, we were told it would be a 5 minute wait (which was true) even though I didn't see a single table empty. Once sat, they brought drinks out right away and gave us some time for the menu. The ambiance was very homey and felt like a judgement free zone. From what I saw, it really seems like the employees treat each other and customers as family which is rare to find nowadays. The food was cheap for the portions received and it was absolutely delicious. Our server, Dakota, was super friendly and very open to conversation with anyone. Other servers didn't mind helping each other out which is nice to see. My boyfriend and I agreed that this will be a frequent place for us after the experience we had here. read more

Menu is huge and includes sandwiches, salads etc for lunch and dinner, but my understanding is they earned their rep from breakfast, and indeed they have a wide variety of various egg, omelette, and pancake options available. I had the biscuit&gravy special, my wife the strawberry French toast. Food was hot, fresh, flavorful, plentiful- if you leave hungry it's on you haha. Biscuits a little doughy but it's a quibble. I'm visiting Belleville for a few days to attend an event with my home-town family. I grew up here in Belleville but have now lived longer in Philadelphia than I lived in Illinois. I was happy to have breakfast here with my aunt and 2 very good friends. This is my aunt's favorite place to grab breakfast and I can see why. So many really good choices of omelettes, nice breakfast specials and very decent diner food. My omelette was cooked well and was filled with all the vegetables that were listed on the menu. It came with hash browns that were crispy and potato-y and a really good biscuit. Everyone was more than satisfied with their order and the service was quick and friendly! If you go with low expectations with a lot of time to waste and want cozy diner, then this is your spot. I believe this place is completely underrated. This has been my go to place for breakfast for quite some time based on the food and the service. I wouldn't classify it as a hole in the wall, but it's not frilly. Which shines here are the amazing omelettes pancakes, and even their burgers are great too. The servers are always nearby if you need anything and the prices are very very good for what you get. This is our go to place on the weekends for breakfast. The food is delicious, our server Othel is truly the gem at this location. It's the caring service as he gives menu ideas, actually butters your pancakes before bringing them to you just is GREAT at his job, and leaves you with a feeling you went to see a friend. The owners seemed to have done some upgrades on the space so it's a great neighborhood place. Prices did just go up, but it's sure to happen in current status of our economy in Bidens' world. Went this afternoon for the first time. I had the country fried steak special, it was homemade... Prices were really affordable, food was good but the service was excellent. In the days of COVID, service is almost non existent anymore and businesses act like they could care less if there employees or service is sub standard. Service is always good. I always call in and they're to the point where they greet my by name on the phone and already know what I want and how I like it. I get chocolate chip pancakes and they are LARGE. The pancakes are my favorite. The eggs are ok and so is the meat. You might get a shell but at least you know they use real eggs!
