Looked up somewhere for breakfast as we were in the area and found the North Main Diner. Walked in and they were busy, but there was no sign saying seat yourself or wait to be seated, so finally we walked to the front where there was a counter and then were ignored for a while until someone finally took our name and told us to stand in a small area off to the side. The table we were sitting at was really dark, so much so I had to lighten the photos so you can even see our food. The biscuits and gravy were bland and I am pretty sure the gravy was powdered as there were lumps in it. No flavor at all. The coffee was good but my cup was empty for a bit before someone came by to refill it, which I can forgive because they were busy. My husband said his French toast was just okay and tasted like bread with powdered sugar. The sausages also had chunks of something (perhaps apple?) that was not appetizing. His over-medium eggs were decent though. Finally, I'm pretty sure there was a dead cockroach in the dark single toilet bathroom, which doesn't inspire confidence. A city sign outside in the street proclaimed Edwardsville as a "foodie" town, if that's true then there must be better places to go. Skip this one. read more

Me and my mom went the other day and well no one else was there so the service was great. Staff was pretty friendly they checked on us a couple times. The food is a bit pricey for what you get. My moms salad was huge but pretty expensive. I got a burger and i was less than impressed. It was 50 dollars for the both of us which is pretty crazy considering the food was not that great. I've seen some of the older negative reviews on this restaurant but we have been coming here for breakfast on an occasional weekend and have been very happy with the food and service. The seating is a little tight and it does tend to get very busy soon after church let's out but they do a good job of getting food out quickly and the servers hustle. First time at this place for breakfast. It was packed. Waited a couple of minutes for a table. They keep the coffee in your cup full.( great coffee service- waitress gave us ice water with our coffee ) We didn't ask . Nice touch in my book. Big potions for breakfast. I ordered the Denver omelltte , husband had the traditional breakfast. Eggs , bacon, hash browns and homemade biscuits. He had to help me finish my breakfast. They have Coke cola products !! ( coke cola fan) Photos on the wall for sale. Our server, Kevin was great. You pay the bill in the back . When I was paying the bill. They had a waiting list to be seated. ( Yes, it's that good!!!) We did a bike ride and thought this would be a nice place to sit outside and have lunch. They have 4 tables and enough chairs to fit a group of 8 to 10 people. The server was quick to take our order, bring our drinks and we got our food without incident. I wish they had alcohol, I like a Bloody Mary in the morning. I'm not exactly sure why this is even a diner. The biscuits and gravy were frozen biscuits covered in a canned or powdered gravy with weird little square pieces of "sausage". I mean, seriously, the same thing you would get complimentary at 2 Star hotel. The bacon was not sliced thick bacon. Again, it looked like the pre cooked stuff in the box. The coffee was about equal to what I make at home with Folgers. When you walk by cooler you can plainly see they use a big gallon jug of Prairie Farms OJ and just pour it in a glass for you. The waitress was nice and kept filling up the coffee. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Hardee's at least has fresh biscuits and it costs less. Cute place in a great location but the food was "meh". A little pricey for what you get. Service was HORRIBLE - which I could understand if they were slammed, but the place wasn't even half full. All 3 of us had "stomach issues" about an hour after we left even though we all ordered different items. I'll stick with 222 Artesian Bakery right down the block. North main diner is a fine little place. It's a bit dated on the inside and absolutely as plain as the name would suggest. Their food was just eh in my opinion. I had an omelet and it was mediocre at best, not fluffy at all just mostly flat. My girl friend asked for scrambled eggs and those also came out in a flat pancake as if they had been whisked in the skillet once and left to set up like a plain omelet. It was cheap which was nice and the service was good. There are better places for breakfast in edwardsville but if you want something cheap and run of the mill, north main is your place. read more

I went there only to visit a friend and the food was memorable for all the wrong reasons. I had your typical pancakes with bacon and eggs and everything about the plate was cheap. The pancakes tasted as if they were microwaved and the bacon and eggs were at best spongy. An airplane breakfast would have been an upgrade in quality. I believe Fiona's is now out of business.
