A comfortable dining area. A great place to dine and catch up with a friend. We took two toddlers and felt it was child-friendly. Everything l ordered tasted great. I enjoyed the Sweet and Savory breakfast sandwich with tots. Their pancakes are sweet as well. The London Fog and Pumpkin Spice Latte were lovely to have on a cold rainy day.

The cutest aesthetic. I may be biased because I am a geography major, but the maps on the wall are adorable, amazing, aesthetic, and I assume have meaning! They matched the theme/decor of the entire cafe. Great place to chat or do homework. We took our drinks and pastry to go to walk downtown. The cider was good. I got it cold because it was rather warm outside so I didn't want a hot drink. The orange cinnamon roll/croissant was DELICIOUS! It had the perfect consistency and the right amount of flakiness to it. The taste of orange was very well present yet not overpowering. It was so good. I highly recommend!

The place has lavender and herbs growing on the beautiful deck seating area. So relaxing. We came because they offer gluten free, we will return for the wild mushroom confit and friendly atmosphere. The owner, Jenny, was very kind. Support small and local

I visited Cafe Birdie with my husband in the first couple of months of its opening, as I was curious to try the cafe that replaced the Queen's Cuisine. I was quite pleased. There were multiple vegetarian items for me to choose from, and my tomatoes confit with a fried egg on a baguette was delicious and perfectly seasoned. My husband got an Americano, which he said tasted great; however, it was served in a drinking bowl filled to the top and without a handle, leaving no cool place to hold the thing to drink it. The servers were helpful, and while the inside atmosphere was merely okay, it was delightful sitting on the deck next to all the planets with herbs. Thanks to the good food and vegetarian options, I knew I would go again. 4.5/5 (rated on Yelp 4/5) A few months later, we visited again, this time as a group of 3. We each had items from the brunch menu, including the pancakes (silver-dollar pancake sized cakes), the biscuits and gravy with a side salad, the smoked salmon biscuit, orange juice, coffee, and a Mayan hot chocolate. Everything was great--the Mayan hot chocolate was fabulous! Another customer was fishing to us about the coconut macaroons, and we saw at least two parties come in to pick up cinnamon rolls or macaroons for takeout. They hung maps to decorate the walls, and vases of fresh flowers graced the tables. I think this will be our go-to brunch/lunch place for visitors. Upgrading my help trading to 5/5!

Cafe Birdie is new and absolutely delish! As you step into this new spot, you will be taken back by how cute it is and the amount of options! Everything sounded fresh and flavorful. The coffee options are great. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it was super flavorful. If you hate dill you won't like it but if you do, you'll be in heaven! You order at a counter and then they bring it to your table of choice. Service was polite and helped me with the menu.

My new go-to spot just because I love the ambiance. The shop is at the corner of the street and also so sunny and cozy inside. Great place to chill or get some work done. Friendly staff. Food and drinks are decent home-made quality.

1st time stopping in for breakfast to go. Cute place and friendly staff. I had the tomato confit toast- was bummed to find out it had goat cheese on it--which for some reason tastes like manure to me. ‍I'm not sure if there was feta as described on the menu, and it was subbed by mistake, or if that's part of herbed cheese on the toast. All the other ingredients were cooked and seasoned perfectly, so was still able to get it down. Will def try them again-I'm intrigued by the Birdie Palmer I saw on the menu.

A delightful breakfast and lunch cafe. Bright and cheerful inside, and a very friendly staff. Coffee is from Sump (St. Louis) and is excellent. They put out a nice selection of baked goods including many gluten free items. Daily specials vary but they usually have a nice house-made granola, scratch biscuits and gravy, avocado toast, frittatas (usually vegetarian), etc. They open at 8 so not for early birds wanting their coffee on the way to work. And, they are open Wednesday through Sunday. Parking beside the cafe is limited (3 spots) but they are very close to the parking lot to the west of the library.

I can find unique items that you do not see at other grocers. I am wanting to eat healthier this year and this department is helping me achieve that goal. Another department that I enjoy is the, Deli and Prepared Foods. I have ordered from the prepared foods department for many of my parties. It makes life so much easier and everyone loves the appetizers. The butcher/meat department is as impressive as the produce. Also, the Dierbergs label is just as good as a name brand and it helps you save money on your total bill. If you're a drinker, the liquor department is a mini liquor store located inside a grocery store. The variety of wine and beer is huge. If you over drink and do something stupid, you can use Dierbergs florist to help get yourself out of trouble. The staff on the floor are helpful when I cannot find what I am looking for and the cashiers are friendly and move the lines quickly. Reminder: The store is in Edwardsville, so take your own bags, otherwise you'll be paying 10¢ a bag.

"Stick to the knitting" is the phrase that comes to mind. I believe it's a chapter title in an old…read morebook by Peters & Waterman called "In Search of Excellence." It summarizes their advice to businesses that have diversified so much that they've diminished the value they once provided in their most basic services. Here's why the phrase comes to mind in reference to D-Edwardsville. Years ago when it opened, it became my first-choice grocer, a moderately expensive but close-to-home alternative to specialty grocers in St. Louis. We could find nearly everything we really needed there, including gluten-free items. I was particularly happy that the fish counter offered fresh and previously frozen items that were as good as those I picked up 30 - 40 miles away. In recent months, I've been less enthused to shop at D-Edwardsville. Whereas the traffic flow of the east end used to draw attention of the shopper toward produce, deli, fish, and meat, now attention is drawn just as much toward the prominent placement of an expanded and generally high-priced wine-liquor section. The produce selection rarely seems as good as Schnuck's or Walmart. And the fish counter that I used to love is now a place I avoid, especially after some bad fish purchased during the yearend holidays. So bad that citrus juice and even alcohol rinse (with sake) could not save it. I imagine Edwardsville grocery competition is stiff these days, and D has a difficult challenge retaining market share and making a profit. I sympathize with the dilemma, but from my perspective, more alcohol or a phone app with coupons won't make much of a difference. In my opinion, flawed as it may be, I'll be muttering quietly as I roll my cart out the door, "Stick to the knitting.
