My boyfriend and I were a little desperate to find a place to eat this morning that didn't have too long of a wait. When we saw that yelp had a waitlist, we decided to come here! The waitlist was definitely helpful in being able to put a name down Without being physically there. We still had some wait time when we arrived, but I was sent a text when the table was ready! We were in a bit of a rush, so had looked at the menu beforehand and knew exactly what we wanted to order, so when we sat down, we immediately put our orders in. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive to the table, so I was impressed!! I ordered the SoCal breakfast burrito (that comes with a little cup of fruit and some salsa verde) and my boyfriend ordered the French toast. My burrito was pretty good. While I shouldn't have expected anything too flavorful since the meat was chicken, I do still wish the burrito had some spices and flavor other than from the cheese and guacamole (which was great). My boyfriend's French toast was a pretty basic French toast which he enjoyed. The food was okay, but nothing special. read more

Came in here and the decorations and set up are nice, I'm in between because I got a side of eggs scrambled and a side of potatoes. The eggs were a little too dry for my liking, I'd that makes sense. To put it plainly, they tasted like a boiled egg at first. The potatoes could have been a little better? They'd are crunchy on the outside but a little hard on the inside. The service was ok, but the food wasn't good. Our server seemed friendly, but more belittling than genuine. I went with my family and ordered the brisket hash. Not only did it take forever for the food to come out, and only a couple of items at a time, but the hash was ridiculous. I saw 3 small pieces of brisket in the hash and asked our server about it. She responds with the kitchen pre-weighs it and then mixes it in. I'm sorry, but 3 tiny pieces is ridiculous to be the serving..... especially when I'm paying $15. That's a lot for just potatoes, eggs, tortillas, and 3 tiny things of brisket. I expressed my thoughts to the server and her response was she could place an order for extra. How would it be extra when you barely give any to begin with? I don't want to purchase extra. I want my meal to come with an adequate amount.....not even a lot, just more than 3 pieces. Her response to that was completely changing the subject and asking if anyone else at the table needed anything. That was beyond frustrating. And then the whole table is just about finished and she brings out extra brisket. Really? When we're all done? I've had much better breakfasts.....that were definitely worth the money. Breakfast/Brunch spots are not usually my thing. I sleep late and the thought of paying $4 for a cooked egg gives me physical pain. Buuuttttt....i had a free entree coupon for my bday. First time here and I got to say I it was pretty good. I had an appointment across the street so I wanted to swing in for a quick breakfast. I walked in and although it was busy they got me seated right away I ordered a cup of coffee and they bring a whole carafe (I love it when they do that). I got the AM superfoods bowl which had chia pudding and fruit and granola and a side of toast with almond butter. It was a sweet breakfast but really flavorful and light. This place was outstanding! The host wasn't exactly warm but she was efficient and pleasant enough. Or server on the other hand was amazingly sweet and on top of her job from the get go despite prepping for a table of 15. I think her name was Larissa, I hope to sit at her table again next time I'm there, which will be at least weekly while I'm in the area. The dining area is just one large space, yet with as clever level change on one end the designer really made a large impact with a simple move that gives the place s more intimate and comfortable feel than one would expect in a one room dining area seating probably 90-140. And there are several tables outside as well in the cafe dining area. The food was fantastic. I had the Bacado, an omelet with bacon and avocado with sour cream, incredibly good multigrain toast and fabulous preserves, and a helping of breakfast potatoes. My breakfast friend had the Chickachanga, a breakfast burrito basically, with the potatoes. He also ordered the warm fruit compote which was amazing on the toast, or i'm sure anything you want to put it on! They're only open for breakfast and lunch so plan accordingly and make sure to visit because this is worth it! Parking was tight but worked out. If I could give zero stars I would. This MOLDY BLUEBERRY was given to my 5 year old. We had already gotten our checks and even tipped the waitress and then we saw this. We had to look through the fruit because my son made a face of disgust. We mentioned it to the waitress twice and never did she communicate that she would come back with another cup or apologize. We shouldn't have to check our food before eating it, we should be able to trust that we won't get served things like this. The first time I ever ate at a First Watch was in Cleveland. Generally I try to avoid eating anywhere that reminds me of Cleveland, but a tempting BOGO offer lured me in and this was the last day to redeem the offer! We got here around noon on Sunday and there were no parking spots in the lot whatsoever, even after circling the lot a few times. We had to park on the side street a short distance away. When we got to the restaurant the hostess quoted us at about 35-40 minutes wait. The paging system is by cell phone which is nice and also gives you a link to show where you are on the list compared to other people. It took about 30 minutes for a table to open up. We chose first available seating and we got a nice shady corner spot on the patio. Waiting 30 minutes gives you a lot of time to decide on what you want to order so we placed our meal orders right when the server came by to ask what we'd like to drink. I had the smoked salmon and roasted vegetable frittata. The orders took a bit of time to arrive since it was busy. When they did arrive the plates looked nicely presented. My frittata had well seasoned, fluffy eggs and I enjoyed the tomatoes, chives, and shallots in it. I really disliked the smoked salmon though. I'd say I enjoyed everything about the frittata except for that main protein. It was a large portion which I appreciated, but all I could taste was salt. I couldn't eat all of it. My husband ate the rest of the salty salty salmon and then remarked "I thought salmon was supposed to be healthy for you". His actual meal were the breakfast tacos which looked pretty good. The filling on the tacos was really watery though and it was hard for him to actually pick up the tacos and eat them because all the liquid caused the middle of the tortillas to become really soggy and fall apart. With so many breakfast spots in the East Valley, based on the longer wait time and sodium overload, I'd most likely pass on this spot to go to other places during the weekend. read more

I come to the First Watch on Dobson every month or so, and I've become a creature of habit when ordering. I love the Ham and Gruyere Cheese Omelet, and the Bacado omelet! The Avocado Toast is filling and tasty. I also enjoy the half sandwich and salad for lunch. I recommend asking for the multigrain bread as a substitute, as it's waaaay better than the regular bread they use. The salmon frittata is disgusting, don't do it. Just trust me on this one. I've just tried the Wake Up Call drink and it is my new favorite! The coffee is fresh and rich. No bitter taste (I drink my coffee black). Service is friendly, but this place is always packed, so be patient if they don't check on you as much as you'd like. Sundays there is always a wait. This place has a great atmosphere for breakfast and lunch, and the decor is modern and rustic at the same time. Overall, First Watch is a safe choice. Try it! read more

Received a $20 gift card from corporate to give this place a second shot. So (sans kids) we decided to make it our breakfast stop today. I ordered The Market skillet, and my husband ordered The Works omelette. My skillet was delicious and worth ordering again. The goat cheese was an absolutely perfect addition to the skillet. The fruit side was good, tho the honeydew melon was not ripe enough, and the whole grain toast and jam was good, but almost too filling, as I couldn't finish my skillet and the bread. My husband liked his omelette well enough for a complimentary meal, and felt similarly about the bread and fruit. We chose not to order coffee because in our opinion it's entirely too expensive for a single cup of average coffee, especially within a stones throw to Starbucks in the same parking lot. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We left her a good tip for her service. Overall, it feels like an average breakfast place, but not unique enough to go out of your way for. The prices are a bit higher than we'd like to pay for an average breakfast, so it's not likely we'll be frequenting or recommending to others. The bathroom was clean enough, but kinda oddly laid out. It felt like it is a 'reach and fail' toward wanting to be slightly higher class than it is. read more

The Fig Prosciutto had a hearty fig spread that has a seedy texture, every bite had that sweet and salty taste too it, which is a HUGE plus. The over easy eggs looked like they came out of a pictorial of breakfast books. They were perfectly made. I made my inaugural trip to First Watch a few days ago, and it did not disappoint! I went with two of my boys. They ordered from the kids menu, and I ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes, and the Morning Meditation drink. I have one word....amazing! The eggs were cooked to perfection. The Smoked Salmon was delicious, the tomatoes were fresh, and the bread did not become overly soggy. I could have done without the purple onions. The potatoes were a nice side compliment to the main course, and were very flavorful. Lastly, the Morning Meditation (Orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet) was completely refreshing, not to mention really beautiful looking. The only issue that I had, was that I could have eaten 3 of these meals. But really, it is nice to not be overly stuffed, and feel completely refreshed. I'm a fan. Second visit to this location really, really good food with a lovely design. It just feels homey and it's very clean. It brightly lit with families all around. Today I had the French toast. It was huge, filling and good. Just right for a rainy day. What made my meal? The perfectly brewed hot coffee. Typically breakfast places don't have great coffee to me anyway. This was different. The coffee was dark, rich, and the temperature was perfect. I had two delightful cups. 5 stars for the coffee! Service was so good, that I hardly noticed my server. I know that sounds odd, but he was like one of the stealth stage hands you can barely see at the plays. They are moving around taking care of business and they do it so swiftly and expertly you barely notice them working. Had my check in no time and a quick smile from my server. Check out was fast and easy. There was a big sign in the waiting area saying customers could check in with the app lessening the wait. Cool! This place is a find.
