I have been here about four times as well as placing a carryout order. I really enjoy the food, however the last two times I came here the service was absolutely terrible. On both occasions in which I received unfavorable service it was with the same waitress. She was very inattentive and I had to ask other wait staff for assistance. My lunch outing was much longer then expected on both occasions due to the lack of service. Unfortunately, I decided that I will not be returning anytime soon. I've been to first watch a few times but I think this is my first review. First off, if you are going on the weekend, use the yelp app to make a reservation. It works perfectly. Second, order the pancakes. They are so good. I had the banana nut pancakes and I have thought about them every day since. The turkey and egg white omelet is good and the coffee is strong. I've had other items off of the menu and been satisfied. The only reason this is three stars and not four of my waitress wasn't that great. I understand that food may take a minute to come when the restaurant is busy but I feel like she should've checked on us a bit more but I'll still be back! I'm a fan of first watch, Usually, I order my food to go. I have sat in and ate a few times. The only thing that I would say that I don't like about this place is that there is no way to place a reservation. They just put you on a wait list which is awful. Theyre always super busy, so if you aren't going as soon as they open-good luck trying to get a table. The food there is so good and the drinks are all freshly made in house (no alcoholic breakfast drinks too, by the way). I always get this green fruity drink when I go; if you arent a fan of green juices, dont try it. I also highly recommend the Farmhouse scramble (the one with avocado) and get sunny side up eggs- to die for! The place is also really affordable. I will always come here for breakfast, but if they can do something about the long wait times that would be fantastic. I really want to be able to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't. I have been to First Watch several times, and sometimes the food has been great, and sometimes just meh. The good points are that the food is very fresh and there is a great variety on the menu - from fresh veggie or fruit smoothies to waffles and French Toast, omelettes, eggs Benedict, etc. My main complaint about First Watch is that they over-poach the eggs in the eggs Benedict - my opinion is that they should not be hard! Throughly enjoyed brunch here yesterday with my sister and best friend who was in town for a couple of days. Our waiter was really funny, and kept cracking jokes with us when he realized we were probably the randomest people ever and were not going to be a serious table. Everything was delicious, highly recommend the pumpkin pancakes while they're here, I wish I'd gotten just those & not one of them + one of the hashes (which was also good, but I've had it before and the pancakes were some of the best I've had). Great food!!! The service can be sketchy at times especially on the weekends/holidays! However I still chose to patronize here because I've had great outcomes with the food/drinks! Need to make sure the waiters are experienced and used to dealing with high volumes especially in the Laurel Maryland location. It wasn't that busy, there were some empty tables when we were seated. The OJ I ordered never showed up and still billed me for it but the waiter was able take it off for me. It's officially Fall when can get pumpkin pancakes!!!! Love the refreshing kale tonic! I love the "groove" of the place! Fresh coffee while you wait for your table. And it's excellent coffee! I live in Laurel and had family in town for a football game at FedEx Field later in the day. We didn't didn't want to venture far from the area to enjoy breakfast so I turned to Yelp. This spot had some of the best reviews PLUS a recommendation to advance reserve a place in line. There were folks waiting outside and in upon arrival which were good signs. I liked the decor, ambiance, open kitchen, organic healthy menu options, and free coffee while we waited. Unfortunately...we waited and waited some more but not as long as some had been waiting without using the app. They could tighten up holding a place for guests not arriving on time but the biggest disappointment were our selections. My wife and I have been to this restaurant a handful of times, however our most recent trip is likely our last. The menu changed a bit, and the service is far from outstanding. This trip was special because I ordered a couple of things that were sub-par. 1) the biscuits and gravy - served at room temperature and flavorless. The texture and consistency was way off... Head to Hardees if you want something with a little more taste, temperature and value for the biscuits. 2) the mellon cooler drink- it is great if you Love Cucumber... Not so great if you are looking for something, oh I don't know, mellon flavored... I commented to the wait staff on my way out, before I paid, and she promptly swiped my card, and THEN asked if there is anything she can do... Updated: July 21 - knocking off an additional star. I thought it nice that First Watch reached out and offered a free meal for a second chance. However, I did not want to go back and be specially treated. So today, I went back with three co-workers...and had the exact same result as the prior two experiences. I started my stop watch as soon as the server took the table's order and walked away. Twenty eight minutes and 20 second later, the food for three of the party arrived. The fourth's lunch plate arrived at the 38 minute mark. Again, the food was tasty but the wait is a deal breaker - especially considering that two out of the three times I visited, I needed to wait for a table. The big clue here is get the food out quicker and perhaps people will not need to wait for a table. Upon check out, I mentioned the experience to the person (seemed to be manager) checking us out. Once again, the excuse was they were extra busy. I would challenge that statement. If a restaurant has X amount of seats and fully a third are empty, that is not busy - or at least it should be for a properly resourced establishment. Another hint would be to better use the floor space. Multiple four and 6 seat tables were occupied by 2 people. I don't blame the staff for this failure as my experience with the people has been good. I do place blame squarely on the shoulders of corporate who either have unrealistic staffing expectations in the kitchen or are not at all interested in the performance of this location. After reading some of the other reviews, I was a little skeptical. From the moment we entered this quaint and charming little eatery (a sign on the wall reads "Wakey, Wakey, Eggs & Bakey") we were impressed with the service and quality. A full pot of coffee, a great selection of herbal tea, and some delicious fresh squeezed OJ came to the table quickly. Wifey had the Floridian French Toast (very large) and I had the Superfood Bowl. Both were absolutely delicious and very fresh. The bacon was a little pricey at $4.49, but the slab they brought was large and perfectly cooked so it was well worth it. AWFUL PICKUP SERVICE! On 11/1/2020 at 9:45AM, I placed my online order # 914949560 for an 1:00PM pickup time. I arrived and my order was NOT on the table for pick up, so I waited. There were 5 other pickup-order customers awaiting their orders. One of the awaiting customer expressed her dissatisfaction to the waitress about the extreme of time she had been waiting for her order. At 1:15PM, a waitress came out to us and asked our names to give us an estimated time of when our orders would be ready. She returned and told me my order would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I canceled my order. It was UNEXCEPTABLE customer service!! I placed my order 3 HOURS in advance and to be forced to wait an ADDITIONAL 40 minutes for a PICK-UP ORDER is ridiculous!!!!! Came here with my boyfriend since I was working from home today after wisdom tooth surgery. Since it was a Tuesday morning around 9:30, the place was basically deserted and we had a whole large booth to ourselves. We perused the menu and there were plenty of soft options for me to choose from (phew!) I chose the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with scrambled eggs and potatoes. My boyfriend got breakfast tacos. Both of us quite enjoyed the food. I also asked for a cup of ice (delivered to our table right away) and I got coffee (nice and hot, but I had to water it down with ice so it'd be cool enough for me to drink with holes in my mouth) Our server was Jackie, she was quite pleasant and prompt.
