First Watch is such a cute, chill breakfast spot that also serves lunch. I mostly come here for breakfast, and my go-to meals are either the Traditional Breakfast or the works omelet. I usually come here with family or friends, and the staff is always incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. One thing I really appreciate is that they have complimentary water and coffee available in the waiting area while you wait for your table. This place is usually packed, so there's often a wait. Thankfully, they have an easy online waitlist system. We'll usually add our name to the list and run errands or stop somewhere nearby until it's almost our turn. They do a great job with the timing, so we rarely have to wait long. If we're not in the mood to wait, we'll place a to-go order instead. Overall, First Watch is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and I always enjoy coming back for the great food, friendly service, and relaxed atmosphere. read more

The food there is always terrific and it's the only place in this area, in my opinion, that can raise breakfast to the level of fine dining, like you're eating at a five star hotel on your vacation. I love this location. It's conveniently located in the heart of Laurel. It's spacious, clean, and the customer service is great. It's always pretty busy but this day there wasn't a wait. I ordered the trifecta with a lemon ricotta pancake, chicken sausage, scrambled eggs with cheese, and a side of potatoes. The food was nicely presented, and delicious. Started out with a trip to Miss Toya's around the corner, and culminated here. Miss Toya's wasn't it, so me and my guest ended up at this really chill spot. Love this place. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance. I had breakfast tacos with a side of potatoes. She had a ham and cheese omelette with a side of potatoes and a side of million dollar bacon (which we split). Amazing breakfast. We both had leftovers to take home. Even gave the server a $15 tip on a $44 bill + saved a few bucks over the $80 per person (for the brunch) I was going to spend a Miss Toya's. All's well that ends well. read more

It was decided to go to First Watch since we were up and about early that morning and they were pretty much the only restaurant opening soon at 7:00 am. I was excited to go because I thought I remembered ordering food from them at work before and their potatoes were good. By the time I parked the car and went inside my friend was already seated and ready to order. Arriving so early meant there wasn't a lot of patrons in the restaurant already and I loved that (quick service) I'm going to keep this short. There isn't a better way to put this but our server seriously had a communication or comprehension problem. I'm not too sure if it was just difficult for her to understand or what was going on but there were multiple occasions I had to explain something to her because she just didn't understand. The biggest issue was with a drink I ordered that she communicated and correctly so I asked for the manager to come over so I can get it but understanding of what was going on. Instead, when the manager came over, they had my drink in hand and not to speak with me. This interaction was a little uncomfortable because our server relayed wrong information to the manager and what I explained my request that understood what I wanted. I also informed the manager that our server had a problem with comprehension. The potatoes were extremely surprising because I thought they had more flavor the last time I ordered them As well as iron and peppers I only received one big onion In the Potatoes and it was highly surprised. The buttered grits were ok and all of my food was hot so that was good. I seriously hope I remember not to come back to First Watch for breakfast because I do not want to be disappointed again. This is the reason I am leaving this review so I can remember this is not the breakfast decision I want to make again. I do appreciate the manager taking care of the situation however I don't like feeling as if I'm trying to get over or looked at that way because of a server who had a hard time with comprehension. I went with the banana-blueberry pancake, and it was massive, fluffy, and packed with fresh fruit--plus that dollop of whipped butter just sealed the deal. F is for First Watch (2nd of 3): The Laurel location is the only one that fails to get a 4-star and in one case 5-star review of the locations I've been to. I went to this location 3 times as it's the closest location to my home. I used my birthday deal in February 2023 & then again in February 2025 with my g/f this time. I also visited with my g/f in March 2024, not on my birthday deal. Saturday, February 11, 2023: I was on a walk in Odenton with a group I was in and suggested going to First Watch with them. I mentioned my birthday deal and needed at least one other since it's a BOGO and said Laurel location probably still makes the most sense, it was closest to my home. The two of them agreed that sounded good. I got one of my 2 usuals either the pancake breakfast or the omelet as well as a blueberry drink, which were all good. Service was pretty good as I recall. Sunday, March 24, 2024: My g/f & I friends' who are a couple wanted to do a double date for brunch somewhere. He lives in Laurel, and I live just a couple miles beyond Laurel in western Anne Arundel County in Russett. We came up with First Watch as we like all like it. The other friend & woman in their relationship had a lot of dietary concerns & considerations, and she asked a lot of questions to the server about several items. These were not unreasonable and completely fair questions, and the server had an attitude to her and was curt with her answers. Frankly, this server had a bit of attitude with all of us to a certain extent. Sunday, February 16, 2025: I was here to use my birthday deal with my g/f. One of the 3 visits here, where I actually took a pic of my food. I got the omelet, potatoes, & toast; delicious per usual. A different server than from 2024, but he was kind of unfriendly & curt too. In general things were a little slow in terms of the service. Further, the 3 times I've reserved ahead at this location, it's always like another 15+ minutes beyond the posted time. In general, they don't seem to be running a very tight ship here, and there is some lack of urgency to get the orders in, out, the customers in & out efficiently. Two negative somewhat negative experiences out of 3 make this the worst of the First Watches. One positive in 2025 was when I showed the cashier the BOGO birthday, he took off & handed it back to me. I said so I can use this again. I wouldn't use again here to be fair, I'd go to different one on this deal. He said that was fine, and that gave us the opportunity to try the new White Oak location in early March, which will be my next review. read more

There was 4 people in our party and we all thought the service from the wait staff was excellent. Everyone's food looked great and from the silence at the table obviously it was also delicious! I'm so sad because I can't order from this restaurant anymore. I love the menu but the quality is terrible and this is my third time in a row receiving a bad delivery. My whole frittata is burnt to a crisp and I didn't get the two expensive items that I added to it which was bacon and sausage. I've been coming since it opened but I'm done now. read more

I also got a side of their grits and the kale juice. Each item was absolutely delicious 10 out of 10. For reservations I do recommend if you're coming with three or more people that you try to be strategic and getting on the waitlist if you're coming with one other person I recommend just sitting at the family table. It's not that bad and you will have a quicker experience. The staff at this restaurant are always incredibly nice incredibly kind. Came in with a large party (maybe 15 of us?) on a Sunday morning. We waited a bit for a table but ok. Our server was a bit MIA. He quickly brought drinks but I had to ask several time for a tea cup despite having the little tea kettle. Our food came out in waves which is semi understandable since it was a big table; however 1 person didn't get their food til everyone else was done. The server did admit he forgot to place her order. I got a single blueberry pancake. Which was MASSIVE but mediocre. Not fluffy. The bacon was undercooked and some pieces were over cooked. The majority the table enjoyed their food. I drive by this restaurant almost daily. Decided to stop in for breakfast on a Friday. No one was at the desk when entering, however less than 30 seconds a gentleman appeared with the great morning attitude welcoming us to the restaurant. We were immediately seated and no less than 2 minutes greeted by our server Lauren who was also quite warm with her greeting. She recommended the chicken pesto powerhouse bowl, I added eggs and this dish was fantastic! My husband had the trifecta which he really enjoyed. Menu looked appealing with a vast selection of goodies... Seated and not greeted by our waitstaff, who asked for our drink selection and looked and sounded "disturbed". Strike 1 Took our order and disappeared into the open kitchen area, which was bustling mind you. I didn't smell anything though. Food arrived in a decent amount of time. Here in lies the dilemma The Works Omelet: looked and tasted premade. Did they add the filling afterwards then heat it again? (egg over cooked and lukewarm, how?!) Toast...no preserves in sight. The potatoes...frozen then reheated? Zero flavor and zero taste Strike 2 Tri-Fecta: Belgian Waffle and Eggs were great. The Million Dollar Potatoes, they need to change the name. There are no words. Waitstaff never checked on our table to see if we needed anything, or if our food was okay Strike 3. We didn't finish our meal or ask for boxes for the leftovers. Nah... Will I comeback to try something else? Perhaps. The carrot cake pancakes sound like they may be a vibe. Not gonna lie, I don't get the whole "get in line" thing and it's annoying. Just freakin' take reservations! I took DGD for her birthday brunch because she loves it. Anyway, there's a lot of free parking because it's in a big shopping center. I saw in one review that it was good they added more tables & I never went before but I am not a fan. After about a 10 minute wait, which isn't horrible, DGD and I were seated at a two top wedged between two others. It's one of those situations I hate because (1) I feel claustrophobic and (2) I have to work hard at not hearing what the neighbors are saying. Happily, neither side was really loud. DGD was content to sit on the bench seat but I was glad to use a chair. Another wait for the server. DGD ordered hot chocolate & I just wanted water, but they left the two mugs on the table that were already there. This made the miniscule table overcrowded, due to the condiments. Wait time for the drinks was short; food took a reasonable amount of time. She was extremely happy with her food but as usual ordered too much, so the table was ridiculously packed. I honestly can't recall what she had. I chose the carne asada hash and I have to say it was very tasty. One off note for me was my fried egg was overcooked. Yuk. But the flavors blended well and it didn't require any extra sauce or seasoning. Large portion, so I took some home. The server was very pleasant but didn't check on us. To be fair, they were very busy. But still. At just over $40 including tip, it is a place I won't go back to. Friends, I veered off course (live a little, right?) and got something off the Spring 2025 Menu... the lavender French toast. First off, it's a beautiful dish. Second, that ah-mazing lavender whipped cream with the gingerbread crumble is the star of the dish. Third, but whyyyy when the French toast should be the star? The French toast tasted like it was simply brushed with the batter instead of being dunked in, and allowed to mingle with it. What a shame. I visited First Watch on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed as usual. My husband and I were able to get seated immediately. Our server was hilarious and made our experience very pleasant. I ordered the trifecta with an extra egg, two French toast, and pork sausage. I can hands down say the chef did his thing in the kitchen. Everything tasted amazing, I have no complaints about the food. However, my silverware was dirty, there was a particle of food stuck in my water pitcher, and to top it off a green spider crawled out from under my plate!! It was very traumatic for my husband who ended up killing the spider and cleaning the table off. The server said that particular window booth gets a lot of bugs but if they know that they need to spray it down with something to prevent further occurrences. Been meaning to come here for a while a finally made our way over to First Watch. We came around 9 am on a Saturday. It was busy but we were still able to get sat right away. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with sausage and eggs, my husband ordered the salmon eggs benedict, and we got a half waffle kids meal for our son. Our food came out quick. Our waitress was very attentive, and our food was good! I liked that they had a special blueberry syrup just for the blueberry pancakes. The traditional breakfast was ordered with scrambled eggs and what came was not scrambled eggs. They were eggs, but they were like a square brick. My friend called the food runner back over and said she felt she had gotten the wrong order since these were not scrambled. The food runner with a very negative attitude said those are scrambled eggs. At that point, I said those are not scrambled eggs because scrambled eggs are light and fluffy. He then snapped back saying I work here and those are scrambled eggs. I then asked where my meal was and he said I don't know. I just deliver what's told. The waitress came back and we questioned her about the scrambled eggs, not being light and fluffy or even resembling scrambled eggs and wondered where my meal was which has now been 10 minutes after my friend's meal was delivered. She said the kitchen is backed up. I'll get the manager. We never said we wanted the manager, but she didn't want to deal with us either about five minutes later the remade traditional breakfast came back by what we assume was the manager, even though he never identified himself as such and my meal came out as well. My home fries were completely cold as well as the omelette, but at that point, we didn't want to draw more attention to ourselves so we let it go. I have had ham and cheese omelette at many places and unfortunately all this was, was lunchmeat ham inside of the omelette with a piece of slice of cheese on top.
