The last time I was at FirstWatch, I ordered the Cornbread Carnitas Bowl off of their seasonal menu. I was curious about it so I asked my waiter if he would recommend it; he told me that he has had it for the past 4 days straight. Needless to say, this sealed the deal and I was very excited. I asked for it without the pork because I'm vegetarian, and my waiter even asked if I wanted veggies in it too. I said I would be okay without them because the bowl sounded like it already had a lot of different ingredients and I knew I would be full without the veggies - I thought it was a berry nice offer though! When my bowl arrived, I was immediately disappointed. The bowl didn't have many of the ingredients that were listed (no pico de Gallo, lime cream, or fresh cilantro) which essentially just made the bowl a bowl of black beans with 1/4 of an avocado, topped with 2 eggs that seemed very undercooked and tasted raw, with a grilled piece of cornbread on the side of the bowl. If I wasn't there for a work meeting, I would have said something. Needless to say, if this was my first visit to FirstWatch, I would not be returning. Since I had good experiences in the past, I will consider returning, but this past experience was very disappointing. read more

This place is one of. the best breakfast places in Indy hands down. Always great service and hot coffee. Best of all the hardest decision is what to eat. Everything is so delicious it took a long time to decide. Well I wasn't disappointed with the Parma Hash Skillet. Deeeeelicious! read more

First Watch - Cheesy Grits - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

Pretty good for a fast brunch between appointments! I stopped in the Castleton location because I was hungry for a somewhat quick, healthy breakfast as well as to do a little work between calls. First Watch fit the bill! It is a nice, modern sit-down establishment with a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. I was seated right away at my own table (there is also a communal table where singles can sit for some social interaction, but since I was working I opted out this time). My friendly waiter came right away with fresh water and a menu...he was super nice and attentive without hovering. I ordered coffee which was also served quickly. I chose an entree called the Tri-Athlete (not that I am one, but hey...it sounded good!) which consisted of an egg white omelette containing mushrooms, green chilies and tomatoes with a side of pico de gallo. Whole-grain toast with preserves and a side of fruit rounded out the dish. My order arrived in a reasonable amount of time; omelet was cooked to perfection, toast was hearty/thick cut, and the seasonal fruit was ripe and fresh. I enjoyed my quick brunch stop. Hope to do it again sometime soon! read more

Great breakfast spot. Also great with the kiddos. Waitresses go above n beyond. Avocado toast oh my. We also love the bread and get it to go! read more

I placed an order and was asked to sit and wait which is totally fine but unfortunately since they didn't ask for an order name or anything i had to wait 30 minutes until they finally asked me and realized my order had been taken by accident. I only have and hour to eat so was really disappointed i wasn't able to get my food on time. read more

happened to be in the area on a Saturday morning about 9am. These guys were starting to get real busy, but there was a spot open at their "communal" table, so I gave them a try I tried the Parm Hash - a milder Italian sausage, a sweetness from the roasted tomatoes - not a bad hash at all. If you go in expecting a meal like your get out in Vegas from Hash-house-a-gogo, you will be a bit disappointed. First watch is trying to go a "healthy" direction, controlling the portion size, whole grain bread, small mixed fruit cup If I am in the area again early Saturday - I can see giving something else a try read more

Great place for breakfast to start the day. I have been here twice. The staff is always friendly and greets everyone as they enter the doors. We were seated immediately both times we came to eat. The servers were attentive and provided great customer service. I selected the protein pancakes on the first visit. They were warm and fluffy with a gracious portion of fresh fruit. I selected the chickachanga on the second visit. It had a little spice and full of flavor. If you get the time and need a go to spot to power up for the day stop at First Watch! read more

I was really happy to find such a modern place in my parents' neighborhood, which tends to be pretty old school. My dad and I tried two of the hashes, and my mom had pancakes. I like that they us good ingredients, unlike some of the more traditional diners in the area. Portions were generous but not crazy, and we all cleaned our plates. Service was wonderful. I'd definitely go back. read more

My order was for pick up and I was late picking it up, but the food was still fantastic. Cute place inside and I'd definitely come back.

Legit! I've been to many locations of this restaurant including Texas and Kentucky. If you are looking for a top tier breakfast/brunch chain that serves home style and very unique offerings then get in here quickly. In this Indianapolis location we were greeted by a smiling host as we walked in. He said it would be a 15 minute wait we but only waited about 5 before being seated. Daniel was our server, he was very friendly and attentive even though he was serving several tables he balanced it very well. We ordered: The million dollar bacon - it's a must every time: 4 pieces of maple glazed bacon topped with green onion! Incredible! Biscuits and turkey sausage gravy - perfectly fluffy and buttery biscuits and amazing gravy with notes of what taste like sage. Come w side of seasoned homestyle potatoes. The best B&G's!! Pork Green Chili Hash - (I posted menu w ingredients). It was one of the best hash dishes I've ever had - Plenty of tender pork shoulder and seasoned very well. Can't wait to return! read more

What a very cool place! The food is great, especially the biscuits and gravy. Prompt and friendly service combined with amazing food and atmosphere will keep me coming back! read more

First watch is great for big, hearty portions at a good price. Got the biscuits and gravy and my husband got the seasonal chicken pesto hash which both hit the spot. They have a variety of brunch cocktails but I got the sweet and refreshing cold brew coffee. We went on a Saturday probably at peak busy time, there was a 25 min wait but they texted my phone so we ran an errand and then waited in my car. Also maybe it was just the day we went but the male servers were all jacked, I wonder if you get a free gym membership if you work here haha. Anyway, we had a great brunch and it's in the perfect location to get some shopping done afterwards. read more

First Watch is always so good. I hadn't been in a while and we went for lunch today, it was delicious. I am always torn on what to go, but eventually I decide on my favorite the chicken salad melt. It is hands down one of the best chicken salads in Indy. I did venture out tho and try the Purple Haze specialty drink. It was such a refreshing lemonade. David was our server and was excellent at dealing with our crazy bunch. Thanks David! read more

The frittata was amazing or I was insanely hungry or this experience was a little of both! I was apprehensive about ordering a frittata..bad experience at a different restaurant. Thankful I didn't let my prior experience ruin the joys of this dish. Description - classic Italian-style omelet with kale, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. This frittata was seasoned so well, I did the it's delicious shimmy. My taste buds and brain lit up! The various textures enhanced the meal. The kale still had a bit of a bite, the roasted Crimini mushrooms provided a meaty quality, and the tomatoes where divine. I believe they were roasted...wish there were more. I would eat them like candy!! I also had a side of dressed greens..not overly dressed and the vinaigrette had a nice zing to it. The meal had everything; salty, sweet, bitter, sour!! Lastly, the service was excellent. The gentleman that was the host sat me promptly, got me coffee and water. He also offered to take my order if I was ready before my server was available..super dope! My server David quickly showed up, took my order and joked and chatted with me for a quick moment. Food came out quickly and correct. I highly recommend First Watch. I'll definitely stop in again and try something new next time I'm in the area. read more

I came on the Labor Day and glad they were opened. We sat at the community table like a bar sitting to avoid the 30+ min wait. Wild Mushroom Omelette - 4/5 I love all of their omelette and this seasonal item is awesome as well. I gave 4 out of 5 because the truffle oil and the lemon butter were a little heavy and covered the flavor of mushroom and eggs Million Dollar Bacon - 5/5 A calorie bomb but totally worth it! I shared with my boyfriend and we both loved it Will come back and try the pumpkin pancake. read more

First Watch is a nice chain of breakfast and brunch restaurants which is not very common for larger chains. This restaurant was very solid - friendly servers, delicious fresh food, moderate prices, and easy parking. I'd give it 5 stars but our wait time to get seated was almost an hour - given that we booked a table in advance that's a bit too much. Other than that we enjoyed it! read more

Great breakfast and lunch spot! They have a very big menu- so there's sure to be something for everyone. I got 1 chocolate chip pancake and home fries. The pancake was huge... I could hardly finish it. My friends swore by the kale drink they have- I'll have to try it on my next visit. read more

For as long as I can remember while living here on the Northside, this has been our all time favorite breakfast place. At least once or twice a month we land here and due to the damn pandemic, we have ordered carry out which works for us due to their proximity. They have maintained quality and service during this time unlike 80% of other restaurants. Baisics: trifecta & traditional hit the spot with the whole grain pancake or waffle being a treat. -not to mention the tasty whole grain toast if that's your choice My fav's: lemon ricotta pancake, ham & cheese omelet, grain bowls Healthy: about everything! I've been a few times and it's always great. I generally visit for breakfast before playing golf with the guys. It's a peaceful place with great food and service. I'm from Terre Haute so it's kind of a treat to come here. I brought the wife for the first time on Monday. She got the chocolate chip pancake, I got the Ricotta and Lemon Curd pancakes and fresh OJ. The OJ was perfect and she liked her chocolate chip pancake but the star was the ricotta and lemon curd pancake with strawberries and powdered sugar on it. No syrup needed! Service was awesome and we didn't have to wait very long. Very enjoyable and easily my top pick for breakfast in Indy on the north side! read more

I went for the first time this past Saturday morning to First Watch on East 86th Street just a few blocks north of my apartment. It is one of four First Watch locations in Indianapolis. Especially given the numerous other breakfast options in the area, I don't forsee that I'll be going back. There is ample free off-street parking at this location in the strip mall lot. I arrived shortly after their seven a.m. opening and was pleasantly greeted and seated. The dining area is a clean, bright, medium-sized L-shaped room with a combination of booths, benches, and chairs. Floor to ceiling windows make up the north and part of west wall. There is some outdoor seating available. The overall ambiance is quite casual. I requested coffee and it was immediately served with the carafe being left on the table to facilitate refills. From the generous menu I selected a BLTE sandwich (a classic BLT plus two fried eggs and Monterey Jack cheese) with mixed greens, and an order of Biscuits & Gravy. The server returned from turning in my order to tell me that biscuits were not yet ready but would be shortly. We agreed she would bring the sandwich and follow with the biscuits and gravy soon after. The sandwich arrived about fifteen minutes later. It was alright, the predominant flavor being the bacon, but overall rather dry. Forty minutes after turning in my order--one hour after them opening and long after I had finished the sandwich--the server returned to inform me that biscuits still were not available and would not be for a while yet and to ask if I wanted them removed from my order. When I told her 'yes' she asked if there was anything else I wanted. I assured her there was not. She apologized for the situation and told me they were comping my sandwich and coffee. I thought it an appropriate action given the circumstances, but would have preferred to have been served my complete meal as ordered and paid for it in full. read more

Great breakfast and brunch items, didn't try the bacon but the kids items and omolettes tasted great! The wait did take a little long but that was because it was busy. My experience of First Watch was surely impacted by all the sunlight pouring in through the large windows; everything was cheery. Service was attentive but not intrusive, food selection seemed healthy and inviting, and the environment made it possible to have a decent conversation without the distraction of too much ambient noise. Loved my avocado on toast with two perfect poached eggs. My friend had a chicken salad melt, which came with a small salad on the side. We appreciated the small pitcher of water on our table, and my iced tea was fresh. The only disappointment was the juice. It seemed like it came from a can; it did not have the consistency of a juice bar juice and the cup was full of ice. I think it was $3.99, which is less than most juice bar juice. read more

We came here for our Mother's Day brunch, as the Carmel location never disappoints. Turns out, this one doesn't, either. We got a table within a few moments of being there, and not to mention the restaurant was PACKED!!!! We ordered the French toast, and pancakes. All very tasty. Group of 4 went yesterday before our trip to The Biltmore. I ordered a skillet and asked for crispy potatoes with scrambled eggs on top. BRUNCH LOVE!! The staff at FW were incredibly friendly and professional. By and large, my favorite was the Avo Toast!! It sounds silly because it seems so simple but their take on it was anything but basic. The bread alone was hearty and tasty. When topped with lemon, avo, a perfectly runny egg, evoo, salt and more.... heaven on a plate. Their millionaire bacon was also a flavor explosion and perfectly cooked. Not new to First Watch, but new to this location! Was looking to grab a late breakfast with my mom while deep in corporate shopping land (sometimes you just need to hit up a West Elm, ya know?) and found this location on Yelp. We were about ten minutes away and hopped on the Yelp waitlist while heading over. Our table was ready for us as soon we we walked in--I seriously *love* this feature! First Watch has a totally enormous (almost overwhelmingly so) menu, but I can appreciate the fact that they serve breakfast all day and have some good healthy options. I went with the avocado toast + the green tonic juice as I was feeling under the weather (plus about a million cups of their unlimited coffee). Both were great! The toast came with two eggs which made it really hearty. My mom had a salad + sandwich combo and liked her meal as well. Service was fast and helpful and the total was very affordable. Assert your unpopular opinion here: I think First Watch is better than Patachou. There, I said it. When I found out First Watch is a... wait for it... chain restaurant, I was shocked.
