    Side salad w ranch
    Lauren H.

I stumbled upon this place while waiting to get my oil changed, and I am so glad that I did! It is a quaint place... "no frills"... but they have delicious food! I ordered a small salad with ranch and sweet vinaigrette. I would skip the sweet vinaigrette next time, as it just tasted like sugar water. The ranch was homemade and the taste was great! I also ordered a combo with two over medium eggs. They were cooked perfectly!!! They do make their own ketchup. I'm sure some people love it, but to me, it was too sweet and thick. I wish they would offer more traditional ketchup, as well as their homemade batch. Overall, I highly recommend this little place and will return!

This place is pretty good! They get your food to you pretty quickly and it's a more no nonsense way of getting your breakfast. They make and sell their own condiments. The hash browns and bacon were good but like most other places that biscuits and gravy could use some help.

Small place doesn't stand out to look at. Food is way better than the place looks. Had Combo #5 scrambled eggs, hash browns and 1/2 biscuits and gravy. Gravy is seasoned well and thick, biscuits are fluffy and soft. Asked for my hash browns to be crispy and they did it right. The very veggie quesadilla with chicken was really good. They make and sell their own ketchup and hot sauce. Ketchup is excellent, taking one home. Had the cinnamon roll too. Super good!! Come to this place and you will love the surprise!

Yelp searched "breakfast near me" and saw some good reviews here so decided to try it! Close to 62 and Binford. I had the one egg eggs Benedict and my friend had the breakfast combo #3. It was good, a slightly different sauce than traditional hollandaise though, less lemony. Ham was ample and tender. They make their own ketchup and hot sauce and jam. I'm not usually a strawberry jam person, but this was good. Coffee was strong ( I'm a copious cream and sugar adder.) Only downside was everything could have been a tad hotter. But it was generally tasty and reasonably priced ($9-11 range). #yum #ReviewsByRL

Crispy hash browns and a delicious made-to-order omlette

Despite living nearby, we'd never tried the Uptown. Previously, it was a different breakfast spot there that we weren't fond of, so it felt like bad juju. I'm so glad we stopped in for Sunday brunch. The small place was full, so we took the last two seats at the bar. The food was all delicious, with the grape salad as a standout. It has walnuts, grapes and a cream cheese/sour cream mixture. Delicious! Service was A+. Coffee hot and fresh plus fountain Diet Coke with crushed ice. Decor is nothing special and location in a strip center off Binford not notable. However the food and friendly, efficient service will bring us back.

A small but warm and friendly interior greets all who enter this little indie gem.

Who would have guessed that my efforts to end my streak of recent 2-3 star ratings would finally end at a small diner only 5-10 minutes from my own home? Uptown Cafe, a sister restaurant to Noblesville's Sunshine Cafe at Uptown, is the kind of place where you feel welcome the minute you enter, relaxed the minute you sit down, and satisfied by meal's end and you're heading out the door. Open 6am-2pm daily, Uptown Cafe took over the spot previously housing Binford Cafe right next to Morellis Cleaners and in the same small strip center as Black Diamond BBQ. It's actually around the corner from Just Judy's another little hole-in-the-wall diner on Indy's Northeastside though, quite honestly, there's no question I prefer Uptown Cafe. Much of what is served in Uptown Cafe is truly homemade, from strawberry jam to truly fresh-squeezed orange juice to cinnamon rolls to breads and much more. They have a simple yet diverse menu ranging from breakfast faves, like hotcakes or egg-centric combos, to a variety of healthy bowls. In fact, Uptown Cafe is truly one of the first establishments I've seen that seems to openly embrace the breakfast dining spectrum. You can easily eat here under a ten spot, though my meal of three silver dollar pancakes, two sausage patties and an unsweetened iced tea came in at just over $10 - $10.70 without a tip. Quit shaking your head. I left a tip. Uptown Cafe has two accessible parking spots directly in front of it along with an appropriate curb cut. The single glass door opens fairly easily, though employees were at that door opening it before I could even get to it. They did the same thing on my way out. Do I actually need someone to open my door? No, not really. It's a really nice thought, though. The dining room itself is decorated simply yet beautifully, a bright friendliness the overwhelming aura of the place with a quiet warmth and hospitality throughout. It's a small establishment with maybe a dozen tables and table/booth combos along with a retro-styled lunch counter that was, much to my delight and surprise, actually wheelchair friendly. The employees were sublime. I have no idea of Uptown Cafe is a "family" establishment, but if not they should be as these folks are friendly, helpful and a cohesive unit. I was super impressed with how much they helped one another and, yes, I was watching. My server, Morgan is the name on my receipt, was a delight. She was friendly, helpful, attentive but not invasive, and made sure my tea glass wasn't empty. In fact, she made sure I got one to go and did so even after I'd paid the bill. Bravo. The meal? These hotcakes were slightly thinner than one might expect, but the flavor was spot-on and they truly satisfied. I ordered a side of sausage - the patties were nice and thick with a slight kick to them. The hotcakes alone were $5.99 with the sausage (or bacon) add-on taking the price up to $7.49. I don't remember the last time I paid $1.50 for a side of sausage/bacon. The meal was filling without being too much and really became one of my favorite breakfasts on this particular side of town. I was able to read my newspaper, which I always appreciate, and pretty much every employee who was working that floor acknowledged my existence. Uptown had a steady stream of customers, though my gut tells me that when the neighborhood really catches on that small dining room will experience even greater numbers. This isn't a hoity-toity five-star rating, but a five-star rating based upon this being a truly sublime experience. I loved everything about this quiet Sunday morning experience. As a single adult who lives alone, I often find myself seeking those dining experiences that offer true hospitality and a sense of welcome. That was present in abundance here at Uptown Cafe and, quite honestly, I can't wait to go back.

Uptown Cafe is a welcomingly unpretentious breakfast/brunch/lunch eatery in a small strip mall in north-northeast Indianapolis just off Binford Boulevard at 64th Street. A small but adequate private lot provides convenient parking right at the front door. The dining area is one medium-sized clean and bright rectangular space with seating for about fifty customers at booths, tables, and a few counter stools. There is one muted TV behind the counter and recorded music playing quietly in the background throughout. I was immediately greeted in a friendly manner upon entering at approximately 7:30 on a recent Thursday morning, seated, and quickly served my requested coffee. From the generous and reasonably priced menu I ordered eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy, and a side of hash browns. It was all served up in about five minutes. My server was identified on the ticket as Miranda. She was the one person working front of house and she did so quite capably: greeting customers, taking orders, and delivering food from the kitchen. My coffee cup never got more than half empty before she was back to top it up. The food was all excellent. The thick hollandaise sauce and equally thick gravy were both special delights. Uptown Cafe is a place well worth seeking out.

Tucked into a small strip mall right off Binford it's easy to skip by this place. The inside is warm and welcoming with a touch of traditional diner. The staff were absolutely friendly and seemed to really have a good relationship with their regulars. The menu is pretty small/standard. Breakfast on one side and lunch on the other. Plenty of ways to customize your sides and get the perfect meal you are craving. As soon as i saw they had homemade cinnamon rolls and I knew i had to have one! Luckily you can make it your side for a small charge. I ordered the French melt, French toast sandwich with shaved ham and cheese, served with syrup. Food came out very quick and looked amazing! The sandwich was pretty good, I wish there was a dash of cinnamon or vanilla in the batter but it was a pretty good French toast. The syrup on top made it really sweet and paired well with the salty ham. The cinnamon roll was a generous size, smothered in icing. It was so warm, the bread tasted good and the sweet gooey middle of the roll of pure heaven! Overall a really great and fantastic little place, I do think the price point is a little higher than it should be, but it really was a good place and I look forward to another trip.

Menu. Sorry I stink at crisp photos.

Got to try here before closing time. Combo 4 gave plenty of tasty food for a decent price. Refillable soda glass. Got refill to go. Elijah provided good service. Will come back again and try other menu items. 7 varieties of salads for example. Menu photos attached. Salt pepper sweet packets sugar. Hot sauce at the table. Sorry I wasn't paying too much attention this time was hungry. Wheat toast came buttered. Hash browns were seasoned and cooked crispy outside. Bacon was Thicc and well not burnt. 5/5 will come here again.

But a friend wanted to meet up for coffee in the area, and neither of us had tried here. The menu is fairly standard Starbucks fare. But I'll say that the frap she got was prepared and presented with panache. If you look at my photos attached to this review, you'll see what I mean! If you don't mind that this is definitely a church establishment, then this is a great place to grab a coffee and have a quiet visit or study. There were lots of comfortable chairs and power outlets. I'd much rather camp out here for an afternoon than an overcrowded Starbucks if I need a place to work.

If you drive by Northview Church's Binford campus, then you've undoubtedly witnessed the growth of…read morewhat had been a decently sized medical office building into a genuine church campus that includes the church itself, Capstone Cafe (part of the church), and Pathways Learning Academy. It's actually a rather beautiful campus that seems to have really perked up this area of Binford Boulevard. I'd been curious about Capstone Cafe ever since I saw it pop up as a church offering. It's located on the south wing of the campus and is clearly marked. The entire church has quite a few accessible parking spots as they have a defined ministry for children with disabilities. I will admit this is part of why I wanted to support Capstone - as an adult with a disability, I feel strongly about churches that work to be inclusive of those of us with disabilities. They also do have an automatic door, though it actually was open when I arrived since they were bringing items in/out. Capstone Cafe is essentially a little coffee house. The nearest comparison might be The Haverstick, though this is not really defined as a "co-working" space. That said, as I arrived a group had gathered at one table and appeared to either be working or studying. It's a really comfortable space for either one, though I didn't see plug-ins around and I'm not sure if they offer wifi. The first thing I noticed about Capstone, though, was the sense of welcome. It was immediate and it felt very genuine. Several people were present decorating for the holidays and there was a sense of hospitality everywhere I turned. I had one person turn around from what she was doing and open the door for me and I was greeted by at least 3-4 people working in the church. However, in case you're wondering, it didn't have an agenda to it. The employee working was also super friendly. She showed me both of their menus (drinks and food) and other things around like snacks. They keep things pretty simple here and they support local roasters including Indie Coffee Roasters, Tinker, and Limelight. I ordered a 16-ounce drip coffee (Tinker) for $2.75. I also opted for a grilled cheese weaving together gruyere and mild American for $4.00 (I think it might have actually been $4.25 as I'm pretty sure I paid $7 total - surprisingly, it also included a small serving of Broad Ripple Chip Co. chips). Regardless, it was a definite value to me. They offer a variety of drinks including a variety of coffee variations, teas, and hot chocolate along with soft drinks. They also have smoothies and fountain sodas. They have a breakfast and lunch menu - it's definitely on the lighter side including breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, a panini, a grilled cheese, a soup and sandwich combo, turkey chili, some baked goods, some chip varieties, and a handful of other options. Everything is reasonably priced and you can easily pick up a light lunch here for under $10 and all of their coffee options are under $5 with the highest price I saw being $4.50. There are tables around Capstone and a few tables spaced out around this particular wing of the church. Between the church, the school, and Capstone this place stays steady if not busy. I'll admit that the 5-star is possibly generous as it might build up unreasonable expectations for what is truly just a simple church-based coffeehouse type shop that keeps things simple and focuses on hospitality. The thought that kept coming back to me was that this felt like actual ministry. In some churches, this type of operation either feels like a "business," which makes me feel icky, and other times feels like nothing more than a "gotcha" opportunity. This felt like actual ministry and I really, really liked it. Admittedly, the hours are not the most convenient for me during the week. I happened to have taken a day off work and wanted a place to relax. This was perfect. However, they do also offer Saturday and even Sunday hours (I'm assuming in conjunction with their morning worship). While I expected to appreciate Capstone Cafe, it actually exceeded my expectations in both hospitality and actual quality of offerings. The employee was friendly and helpful and welcoming, the coffee was delicious, the grilled cheese hit the spot, and the overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. I may not be back as often as I'd like, but I'll definitely be back.

I ordered the A La Crossing Benedict, side of gravy, lefse, side Norwegian potato cake, and peach ginger hot tea. I was thrilled to find the hot tea was loose leaf in a pot brought to the table. It's a lovely touch. The Benedict had perfectly crispy bacon and so much asparagus. The egg yolks were perfectly runny and the hollandaise had great flavor. I picked the house salad with champagne vinaigrette for the side and enjoyed that as well. I tried the gravy on some of the sourdough bread and it had a great flavor. The biscuits and gravy will probably be something I order next time because it was so good. When I read they season their sausage in-house I knew I had to try it even though I wanted the Benedict. The Norwegian Potato Cake was a delight! I love every take on a potato pancake or latke and this one had great flavor. That could not be more true. We both did Pick Two: I got a chicken salad sandwich and my mother got a turkey and cheese both with the soup of the day which was butternut squash. Soup was OK, sandwiches were OK. I got a side of chips (not made in-house) for $3. My daughter was upset when we arrived bc she was napping in the car and she proceeded to cry for about the first 10 minutes so, I walked around with her to calm her before I sat down since it's so cramped to try not to disturb everyone else. She was not happy the entire time so we were trying to calm her and feed her. Cake slices and cheesecake are $17-20 each. They're large but other reviews say dry and taste old. That's pricey. We skipped dessert at those prices based on the quality of the rest of our meal... I got an $8 peppermint mocha which was good but, served in the smallest teacup imaginable. It's extremely small inside. Like, uncomfortable. Granted, I had a lot of items with my baby and her and we were seated at a table for two with her in my lap but it was close quarters and the waitresses were squeezing between the chairs to walk around. They have about 6 tables inside with a small event private room in back. Our waitress was kind but, the manager or owner was off-putting. She went to every single table seated except ours to ask how their meal was and experience and, when time to pay, she wanted to personally ring me up to ensure we left in a hurry. I get it, some places are not meant for babies, but, since it's billed specifically to kids, I thought this was. Nope, I was wrong. (She's 19 months - so, too young for this bougie of an establishment clearly) I would not come back at all unless it was for my, older daughter to have a birthday cake experience and get a couple cute pics. As far as instagram-worthy goes, they know what they're doing. As far as quality of food. It's like a 2.5 stars. I wish we'd waited and walked into the larger one in Carmel and just shopped and got some cookies to go!

(My friends called me over as I walked past to alert me to the amazing deal.) Despite the restaurant being super busy, we were seated quickly and warned that it would take at least 20 minutes after we ordered for our orders to come. Although everyone was seated, there seemed to be just one waiter to service everyone's ordering needs. Shortly after being seated, this waiter came by to drop off a pair of waters, and I remembered to asked for menus which he brought to us immediately. I watched as this guy served everyone throughout the restaurant. There was a lot for him to remember! Since we were in a rush, I immediately ordered soon as he came by to check on us. My state director got a beef burger with salad and house dressing; I got a beef burger with fries. The burger contains two cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce on a regular burger bun. Our food came within the 20 minutes he said it would take. The salad my lunch friend ordered was large and delicious as were our tasty burgers. The waiter brought ketchup and came by a couple times to check on us. If you are staying at this hotel, you can opt to charge the bill to your room. They also take cash and credit/debit cards. Either way, check out was also quick and easy. Thank you for the yummy lunch deal, Keystone Café! We made it back in time for our conference!

I don't have a traditional office, so I'm always looking for remote places to work. I love a change of scenery and environment. Over the past year or two, I've slowly faded out my visits to a certain popular coffee establishment with a name shared by a character on Battlestar Galactica. So, when a friend told me about The Haverstick, I needed to check it out! I'm so glad I did. It has become my go-to office of choice! Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. They also have conference rooms for rent. I'm grateful this church has opened its doors to the public and offers such a wonderful and inviting atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and getting some more work done.
