A tough to please customer, my friend and I tried METRO today. Full restaurant, still sat quickly and treated like the only customers in the place. I went because of the reviews and the experience exceeded them all. Kelsey was attentive and welcoming, Walt escorted us to the booth and at the end of the meal, Steve the owner checked in as well. FOOD was prepared excellently, large portions and reasonable pricing. I had not a single compliant or improvement to consider. Metro Dinner man what a experience. The food top tier like always and orange juice on point. The French toast and pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The customer service was also amazing. Our waitress was super nice and was a joy to have around. The music was good and they had a great selection of music. Everything was really clean and was in place. UPDATE: I'm removing stars. Immediately following our breakfast my fiance and I both had bubble guys followed by the aftermath... It was not a fun afternoon for either of us. Could be a coincidence but likely that will be our last visit here, at least for a while. I've been a fan of Metro Diner but they feel a little short today. My fiance got biscuits and gravy which were pretty bland. (I tried them and agreed.) Also the coffee seemed kind of weak. I tried the cranberries Benedict which was a seasonal special. It was decent but I asked for hash browns crispy and they did not come out that way. Also my eggs were a little more loose than I like. Overall this visit was a miss but I'm still giving them the stars because I know it can be better. read more

This is a great place to eat with kids! We came in to try their summer promo of kids eat free after 2pm on Wednesdays with an adult meal. I had never been to metro diner for dinner before, but they have a HUGE lunch and dinner menu ranging from meat loaf to burgers to salads! They also serve breakfast all day, so we had to get a table pancake. The cinnamon roll pancake was incredible and the cheese curds were great! There are lots of kids meal options and the staff was wonderful with kids! Walt and the servers went above and beyond being friendly checking in and making sure everything was going well. The restaurant is big with lots of tables or booths. This is a great restaurant for kids! read more

Went to Metro diner for brunch the other day and it was delicious. I started off with a mimosa flight, prepared to perfection by my server. They give you 4 different flavors and they were great. Not as strong as I might like but still good. The service was fast and my server was on top of everything. I had the Meat Lovers Scramble Bowl. It contained hash browns, sausages ham, eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese. It comes with hollandaise sauce drizzled on top but I'm not a fan so I subbed it out for sausage gravy. Great choice offered to me by my server. All and all it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back. read more

Had a real top-notch experience dining here on 12/8. I've been...twice before, but never left feeling impressed or wanting to leave a review (negative or positive). We stopped in, unplanned, after running several errands in the area. My husband always wants breakfast, but I was in the mood for something more substantial. It was around 2pm. We were sat in Trenton's section and I am so happy that we were. Trent was able to answer our questions regarding menu items, make suggestions, and was very thorough and thoughtful when taking our orders. My husband doesn't always fully read the description of items listed on the menu, so I was happy when Trent would ask detailed questions about each item ordered. For example, my husband ordered grits. Trent asked if he wanted cheese. Hubby was ecstatic and responded "oh, I wondered if you guys could add cheese", but he would not have asked if our server hadn't mentioned it. We also ordered mimosas and Trent mentioned that they had a flight. I love a flight (of anything) and, cost-wise, it just made sense. Metro Diner is one of my go to spots for a hot, fast, diner style breakfast or brunch. They also serve lunch and on some days are open for dinner as well. On this trip we elected to eat lunch and ordered the double decker BLT and the chicken sandwich. Their fried chicken tenders are always so good. The breading isn't too heavy and is crispy and well seasoned. The double decker BLT was great too - bacon cooked perfectly and the sandwich constructed very nicely. Seasoned fries are always a safe bet. They're larger sized and they always come out hot and crispy outside, fluffy inside, never soggy or over-fried. I'm always impressed at how efficiently the kitchen runs - our food never takes long even during their morning rush and always comes out hot. Our server was very friendly and checked in just the right amount of times during our meal. Metro Diner will definitely remain on our repeat brunch spots list. read more

We were in the area and wanted some diner food. Though this location is more of a store front in a strip mall instead of the usual stand alone diners, we decided to try it out. I was so happy to see fried chicken Benedict on the menu this is what I ordered. My companion ordered the steak tip with mash and green beans. It didn't come with soup or salad as at other diners. Our food arrived and as soon as I cut into my Benedict the eggs were cooked hard! So disappointed!! My companion was disappointed with their food as it was served in a bowl instead of a flat plate. The green beans had a crisp bite to them which was not to their liking. There was more mushroom than steak tips but I thought the flavor was good. I said I'd take it home and buy another entre but they insisted on eating it anyway. I got my chicken Benedict back after sending it back and this time the poached eggs were soft and blended into the hollandaise sauce. I enjoyed every bite! This location was clean and the service was quick. Despite our hiccup I'd try this place again. Hopefully give it another star! read more

Went to their location in Clearwater for kiddos birthday brunch. Shout out to our server Trent for the fantastic service! Ironically, my son hasn't liked breakfast for years, so we chose a a place that had great breakfasts and lunches. He had a loaded Mac and cheese with a side of bacon while I had a meat lover's omelette with grits. Mine also came with toast. They were out of GF bread that day which was a bummer. (And Indiana doesn't actually know what "sourdough" means, but I digress.) We got what we ordered, and it was fast, hot and delicious. Our server was very attentive and very friendly. She was quick with her service and delivery. My daughter ordered the mimosa flight, which was mostly juice. Our breakfast were very good and delivered while still warm. The only issue my daughter had was her over medium eggs were over hard instead, and her toast was barely dark so they took both back got her new eggs, which weren't bad, but the toast was burnt behind recognition. It's a very clean location and it has a back room as well as the front dining area. It has a lot of booths and a few tables. For some reason I always prefer booths. read more

The food was disappointing, the service was great. I had avocado toast. The avocado was spread pretty thinly and the bread was not hearty enough. I have had better in other places. My husband had biscuits and gravy, with a side of hash browns and and egg. The gravy had no flavor and the hash browns were mushy. I discovered Metro Diner through a Yelp pajama party years ago and have been a semi-frequent visitor ever since. I love the variety of the menu and that when they are open later on the weekend, you can still order brunch. Some unique things about MD are their chicken and waffles, made with this delectable strawberry butter, the option to do traditional (dark and white meat chicken), all dark meat, all white meat, or chicken tenders. Regardless, the flavor is on point with their breading and the meat is tender and juicy. They have regular syrup, sweet and spicy syrup, as well as a full adult portion or a half-sized portion on the kids menu that adults can order. I'm also a fan of their bread pudding (although sometimes inconsistent), ham dinner, and turkey dinner, which comes with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and cranberry sauce. When ordering to-go, I wish a bit more detail was shown because I've ordered the turkey dinner many times and they always forget the cranberry - I have to remind them ever time (it's SO good!). This is especially inconvenient with DoorDash because it's just left out. Again, just a little more attention to things like this (consistency, nothing left out) and I'd easily give 5 stars. I also enjoy their club sandwich (it's huge and fresh), as well as their flavorful avocado toast. The to-go is an easy process. Sign up for their emails and you'll get half off an entree, as well as a free birthday dessert (happy to have been able to use this on bread pudding recently). You can call ahead or order online. There's a designated spot to temporarily park in front of the restaurant door where a team member will run food out, if you'd like. All in all it's a great choice for a chain spot that does not taste like you're eating chain restaurant food! read more

I tried the pumpkin pancakes, and they were like a little plate of autumn! Each bite was packed with pumpkin flavor, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and the cream cheese drizzle added a nice hint of sweetness to the dish. It reminded me of a lighter, fluffier version of pumpkin bread. The order came with two pancakes, with each one almost as big as the plate!My mom had the croissant French toast, which is what i was planning on getting before I saw the pumpkin pancakes. It looked delicious, and it was a big portion (4 slices) for a very reasonable price. My sister and dad both had the bacon, egg, and cheese croissants with hash browns on the side. They both enjoyed customizing their hash browns with sautéed vegetables and melted cheese. After trying a bite, I regretted not ordering hash browns for myself! We all ordered off the all-day breakfast menu, but Metro Diner also has many options for lunch and dinner, like their signature chicken and waffles. One thing I thought was interesting about Metro Diner is that, along with Coke products, tea, and coffee, they offer beer, wine, and brunch cocktails. Metro Diner is THE PLACE to go no matter what you're craving. In one word...EXCELLENT! Just a great place with an extremely wide variety of breakfast, lunch and even dinner items (for Friday, Saturday & Sunday), as well as a cool "diner vibe". We had a large party of 9 and Casey our server was phenomenal. He was EXTREMELY nice and patient in answering all of our questions and even providing some suggestions. Not to mention always checking in with us. We were there in the morning so most of us went the breakfast route. One recommendation were the bowls and they were excellent. I had the Meat Lover's Scramble Bowl...Hickory smoked bacon, sausage, ham, and scrambled eggs served over hashbrowns, topped with cheddar cheese and drizzled with a sauce. It comes with Hollandaise sauce but a suggestion of the sausage gravy sauce was made. (they even let me try a small sample of both). The sausage Gravy sauce was just perfect. Many of the others went with a variety of the Benedict's plates. They also had a variety of mimosas available. I saw a few folks in the diner try their flights. (We were all going to be driving out of town so we passed). In any event, NOBODY in our party was disappointed in any way with the food, Casey's service or just an overall pleasant experience. A friend and I went in for breakfast and tried the highly acclaimed breakfast French Toast & pancakes for Fall! Service good, however servers tend to stand in groups and talk to one another!! No interest shown for clients or customers. Food I would describe as over cooked, with the flavor of burned butter overpowering everything else. French Toast had to be cut into bite size prices with a knife!!! Unreal! A lesson learned: $50 breakfast inedible with fair service.
