Also, by Oct. 26, they were all out of their October specials we had read about online, so had to recalibrate for regular menu. I had the trifecta w/French toast & scrambled eggs ("good"), bacon (perfect) & warm berry compote (very good). For instance, the French toast was fine but the "custard" batter description conjured images of a thicker dip vs. the very light touch batter it turned out to be. They had English breakfast tea in stock & bring you two packets (bonus points, but for $3.39 that's already several hundred percent markup) Wife's bacon avocado omelette ("Bacado") & coffee also termed "good" though she hates when spinach leaves are mixed into lettuce in the greenery on the plate, so she took a few points off for having to pick that out. We stopped here on our way home from the beach. We have a First Watch in Georgia that we love, so we knew we'd enjoy the food. I was glad to see so many precautions being in place for social distancing and mask wearing. (Refreshing after a week in Destin seeing very little of either.) I didn't understand why everything took so long once we ordered since the restaurant wasn't busy during this time. The food was also disappointing. Only the bacon and toast in my traditional breakfast was good. The scrambled eggs were dry and most of the potatoes were too hard to eat. My husband ordered a side of bacon, potatoes, and turkey sausage. His potatoes were also hard and the sausage wasn't good. This was upsetting since we had waited so long for our food to arrive. Although not in a glamorous location, this place offered a high end experience with ingredients, flavors, options and stellar service. Keke was our server and she did everything right. We visit this place almost weekly. Last couple of visits have been very disappointing. Food quality has decreased significantly. I don't see the manager we used to see, so new management is definitely spiraled downhill. Last visit our food was lost (we could hear the server asking the kitchen where one of the dishes was). First set of pancakes were burnt. Sent back and second set was cold. Potatoes were half cooked and not crisp at all. Toast was so cold the butter was caked on top. Hopefully management turns this around. This place used to be excellent- now it is average. I guess the tourists will still come. But guess what - tourist season is over so you should strive to make the locals happy. read more

Tables are spaced out and they have this one spot for people to sit together called the community table to meet new people. Thought that was a cute choice to have within the room. The ambiance is very open and seems to be fairly clean. Our waitress seemed to be frustrated so our service wasn't the best. Our food was good, but the star of the meal was the mint chocolate chip cold brew. The veggie sandwich had great flavor but a lot of soft textures. The honey pecan salad was interesting. It had a warm dressing which gave the salad more of a heavy feeling instead of a light and crisp feeling of a salad. The salmon eggs benedict was good but not great. Overall, this is a good place to try out when on vacation or passing through Destin, Florida. We will be going back to try something else on the menu. read more

First Watch has become our "go to" breakfast spot in Destin, we have our favorite orders and mostly use the take out services. We live nearby but have eaten at the restaurant twice and I really like the layout and vibe of the space, always seems pretty busy but never overwhelmed. Service is fast and efficient, great coffee, my go to are the breakfeast tacos served with black beans, my wife goes for the elevated sandwich with potatoes, both are wonderful, delicious and spot on everytime we order. I was told this change was made when "corporate" took over. My wife can't eat margarine so we ended up just ordering her a side of bacon, poached eggs and fruit. My boyfriend ordered their traditional breakfast platter with toast, turkey sausage, eggs and the house potatoes. We shared the Floridian French toast, which was to die for. Let me just say, everything so go fresh. That's such a overlooked quality in most breakfast places, but I'm glad to see that's not the case for First Watch. I've been to First Watch before, but we were on vacation so we had to stop! We always enjoy the food and drink selections, especially the seasonal specials. The wait at this location, at least when we arrived, was only about 5-10 minutes which is very rare for First Watch - definitely no complaints! However, it took a few minutes for our waitress to get our drink orders once we sat. Then we had to have waited about 20 minutes or so for our food after we ordered. I ordered the Vanilla Chai Latte Pancakes (because Chai has my heart), and my husband ordered The Works omelette with GF toast. The pancakes came out looking beautoful, with seed toppings and a plethora of berries and banana. Unfortunately, they were pretty dry and definitely a little burnt on the bottom. Luckily maple syrup helps. The edges had a nice crisp. But they also didn't have as much flavor as I was expecting. Also, I'm pretty sure they were supposed to come with 2 eggs which I didn't get, but I didn't want to ask and wait for them. Overall, i'd probably order them again. My husband enjoyed his omelette and toast, but I think he just goes for the jelly! The experience wasn't too bad.
