Amazing food and service, reasonable prices and down home feel. Highly recommend this restaurant

The first time we tried Bubba Jacks was for breakfast. With limited choices in DFS, we made the short trip south to Freeport to try them out shortly before Christmas. We are so happy we did! Delicious food and great service! They definitely know how to make "dunk-able" over medium eggs, epic omelettes and hearty breakfast potatoes with toasted home style bread. We had gone for breakfast several times and noted their daily lunch specials which sounded really good so the next time we were in Freeport later in the day we decided to go BJ's for lunch. Best chicken fried steak ever! Next time we stopped for lunch my husband got the buffalo 10 chicken wing special and I had an awesome (huge) Chef salad. His wings had a nice heat build up and he was sweating at the end which is his perfect wing experience. Service is awesome with obvious teamwork. "ORDER-UP" means somebody get it to the table, and they do it while it's hot. The atmosphere is homestyle comfort just like the cooking and the prices are reasonable. Last but not least, is the "pay it forward" they do. You can buy a ticket for a meal and the ticket hangs outside to be redeemed by someone in need. This my friends, is small town America at its best, taking care of each other. I rarely leave reviews--good or bad--but I felt this experience was worth sharing. We've tried Bubba Jack's twice because it's always busy, so we assumed the food must be excellent. The first time, there was about a 30-minute wait. When I told the waitress we had a party of four, she responded in a very irritated tone, saying it would be 30 minutes. That was completely fine with us. I worked as a server for years, so I know everyone has stressful days. Our kids were hungry, so we decided to come back another time and didn't think much of it. I always like to give a restaurant more than one chance before forming an opinion. The second visit is what changed my mind. We arrived at 10:09 a.m. and waited for a table. We were seated at 10:29, planning to order breakfast for our kids. Our server didn't come to the table until about 10:34 and then told us breakfast had stopped being served at 10:30. I understand restaurants have cutoff times, but we were seated before 10:30 and had no opportunity to place our order before then. Rather than offering any flexibility or apologizing, she spoke to us in a condescending way, saying that if we wanted breakfast, we needed to be there before 10:30. It wasn't the breakfast cutoff that bothered us--it was the way we were treated. Customer service makes a big difference, and we left feeling like we were an inconvenience instead of paying customers. The restaurant is obviously popular, so the food may be great. I can only speak to our experience, and unfortunately, based on the way we were treated during both visits, we won't be returning. read more

This is definitely a place worth exploring if living nearby! The price is amazing for the portion of food and the fried chicken was absolutely crispy, juicy and flavorful. We missed out on breakfast as they do change their menu after noon. So if you want to get breakfast items, make sure you get there earlier since there are lots of people at the restaurant. One down side is that the parking is a little harder to get when it's during their busy time. Also, they do not have that many staff so there might be a short wait on taking orders and requesting for service. Food and price though is definitely a 5 star! read more

Quaint little breakfast place that you would expect for this beautiful rural area. Super friendly and very obvious that everyone was local. The omelet was huge and stuffed with all the meat and veggies. The coffee was fresh and hot. Not pictured, but I got a side of gravy to dip my biscuit in. The biscuit was warm and flaky and the gravy was full of sausage chunks. If you're passing through, they are worth giving a shot for breakfast or lunch. Fantastic variety of Wings here good sports bar atmosphere and their pizza is also very good.

The food was delish! The club sandwich was so much bigger than I thought it would be for the price. The service was fast at 10:30 am and a good amount of people in there. The restaurant was super clean and easy to figure out! read more

Eggs Benedict was full of flavor and served warm which is tough to get! The hash browns were perfectly grilled! Service was fabulous.

Very good selection of lunches. We had soft tacos, club sandwich, and the meatloaf sandwich. All are good. Water and sweet tea were gladly served by the welcoming and helpful staff. Bubba Jacks has been around several months now and was filled to locals. We hope it's here for the long run. If today was any indication, it will be. Bubba Jacks always has great daily lunch specials, affordable meals and friendly service. There's even a clip board outside the restaurant for those u able to afford a meal- just grab a prepaid ticket. Will definitely return! read more

We finally made it here and had the fried mullet and shrimp. We really enjoyed the meal. The mullet was nice and crispy and the shrimp was fried to perfection. The sides were a nice compliment to the meal. Service was fast and timely. We will be back. read more

We entered the restaurant at 10:20am and we were greeted very rudely by what we thought was one of the servers. Who informed us that they were getting ready to switch to their lunch menu at 10:30. I informed her that we were. I told her we were there for Father's Day breakfast and if we needed to, we could go somewhere else. She stated there's nowhere else to eat here. She then proceeded to take our order in a hurry to try to get it in before we were seated. She pointed into a back corner of the room and said there's a table back there. We waited 40 minutes for our breakfast to come out without anyone coming to check to see if we needed anything. The food was decent, but overpriced. come to find out the older lady who greeted us at the door was actually one of the owners. Will not be returning. read more

Awful place very rude owner. Stay away!!!! We were seated by a worker and and then were talked to very rudely by the owner..... saying we should not have been seated until all party was there .... Some of the staff are a bit rude, especially if you sit down when they are transitioning from breakfast to lunch exactly at 10:30 - no breakfast at 10:31. The food sits in the warming window and tends to get cold before they bring it to the table. Lunch specials are usually very good but don't expect the toast to be toasted on your avocado toast and don't expect the English muffin to be warm and toasted on the egg's benedict. $14 for a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich seems high for an unadorned restaurant with simple tables, little decor and a young greeter who doesn't seem happy to have customers. I really don't know what to say here but that there's room for improvement, and there are easy fixes. Please add more cheese to the Philly Cheese- I just saw one slice of a 'white cheese' that only covered 2/3 of the inside meat slices. Get better bread, and offer homemade salad dressings (it tasted like it came from a bottle). Thank you for the bowl of Au Jus, that was good. Just make it look more appetizing on the plate if you are going to charge $14, and please crisp up the meat a bit longer. My dinner guest enjoyed the shrimp tacos and, I'm sure that will be what will bring us back, plus there was one blond haired server who was very sweet. Last comment, you have to also trash the credit card system. It's unsettling, to say the least. I'm giving you 4 stars because I like how you took care of your regulars. read more
