We came for brunch prior to the Sandestine Wine Festival. My friends come every year, and this is part of their itinerary. They don't take reservations, so we put our name on the wait list. We started at #21 and by the way our shuttle got there from the time share we had moved up to #5. It's a happening spot so I suggest you do the same. When we were finally seated we had a nice spot outside to people watch while we ate. It was a beautiful day so that spot was perfect. The menu has a lot to offer, but OF COURSE, we started with drinks. Two ordered the peach bellini, one ordered the whipped pineapple mimosa, and I had the Lavender Paloma. The Lavender Paloma was different. It hinted of lavender, not too sweet and I couldn't taste the liquor, but I definitely felt it after awhile. Then we ordered brunch. I'm an eggs benedict fan, so I ordered the Trifecta, which was a combination of three different styles of egg benedict: Cochon, Chicken St. Charles and Bayou Shrimp. All three were quite tasty. My partner ordered a side salad that she was raving over (spring mix w/tomato and champagne vinagrette). We also had fried green tomatoes which were perfect, French toast bites, and an egg platter with potatoes and bacon. Everybody enjoyed their meals and drinks. The service was inattentive. Beignets were bad. They were like fried chunks of doughy bread with powder sugar. We had two Southern Breakfasts. The fried tomatoes were inedible. Quite a bit of grease for just two pieces of bacon. The plate was covered with it. The breakfast potatoes were the premade frozen type. There were squirrels at the front entry and climbing all over the outdoor furniture and we all know what they leave on the furniture. We over heard an employee say they feed the squirrels potatoes. They should be discouraging not encouraging the squirrels. We do not recommend this place. read more

My girlfriend and I walked in Thursday morning and were greeted by Lisa, who is an absolute gem ! Turns out she was called in to work last minute this morning ‍, but she took care of us and other patrons like a champ . Her high energy and smile made for a pleasant early morning interaction. My girlfriend particularly liked the "homey" feel brought on by having the coffee creamer in little individual metal pitchers and the jam in small dishes rather than packets. The poached eggs was cooked to perfection! And then there was the Bananas Foster French Toast -- dessert for breakfast in the best way possible. It was decadent without being too sweet, with caramelized bananas melting over thick, buttery slices of toast. A true New Orleans-style indulgence. So glad we found this place for brunch today. The online waitlist was not working so we put our name in when we arrived. We were told 20-25 and we would get a text. 30 minutes later we checked with the host and he said the text went out but we didn't receive it. No worries though, as he seated us right away outside on the patio. Our waitress came to us quick and got our drink orders. I had the Bacon Bloody Mary which came with a slice of bacon and pickled green beans garnish. My wife got the Ruby Mimosa, both were very good. We got the Pig Candy Bacon Bites, which was 5-6 half slices of candied bacon. Delicious! If more than 2 people I would do a double order of these. For our meals I got the Trifecta and my wife got the Southern Breakfast. Our daughter got the pancakes and scrambled eggs. All of them were large portions. The food arrived hot and not a long wait. Been here a few times over the years and I must say that the Ruby Slipper is getting closer to a default breakfast joint in the Sandestin area. We've plenty of First Watch and Another Broken Egg back home, so we look for local spots whenever we visit the panhandle (or anywhere) since we frequent so much. After another go-to has apparently rebranded and died for all practical purposes for us (RIP Sunset Café), we're looking for a go-to. Is the Ruby Slipper that spot? Maybe. As far as the food goes, they're solid all around. - The cinnamon toast bites are a great app start Over the years I've had the gulf shrimp omlete, the Spanish omlete, and the build-your-own version as well. They're all very good. I've had the shrimp and grits and breakfast tacos, both also pretty flavorful and sit in my B/B+ tier. There's plenty for the kiddos as well and perhaps (unrelated) maybe if I try more of their morning cocktails this will move to the top of my go-to breakfast spot. Service was expedient and attentive this Sunday morning so that was appreciated. I would recommend getting waitlisted over walk-ins unless you're confident of your timing. read more

Coffee from French Truck Coffee was fresh but don't expect ground coffee. Great place for kids and a very small 5 seater bar for adults who want to get in and out. Nothing takes long and they also have outdoor patio seating. There is a "Village Fee " of 2% just like all surrounding placing on Baytowne Square. My husband and I were here on vacation. Twice on seperate mornings we decided to walk down to the Slipper to grab a quick breakfast. The first morning after being seated, we noticed that the table and menus were sticky. It was from leftover cream that had not been wiped up. No problem. Husband went and asked for a damp towel so that HE could wipe down the table. Not only did the waitress seem bothered by his question, but gave him a dry towel to wipe it himself. We let it go. 2nd morning, we decided to walk down to grab something to go. Soon as we walked to the bar, waitress acted like we were bothering her. Didn't greet us, didn't smile. Just took our order like we just ruined her morning. While waiting,my husband walked back to the garage to grab his car as I stayed behind to receive our order. When it was ready, the bag was slid to me abruptly without a word from the waitress. When I looked up, I said "Oh! Thank you" Waitress responded with a "mmm hmmm" . Unacceptable behavior. Came here Memorial Day weekend for an early breakfast before heading to the beach. We were able to join the waitlist through Yelp before arriving so that helped with the wait time. Our server started off pretty good but kind of forgot about us towards the end and we had to grab her attention. The food was delicious. Ruby Slipper is located in Sandestin in the wharf. Perfect location to eat outside and enjoy the sun while dining with your friends. i would say must haves are the French toast bites. The portion size is a good size to share w a group of 4. We also got the beignets which were good, but I would lean towards to the French toast bites if you were choosing between the two. I order the migas which is pretty much like chilaquiles. I would say this was a little difficult to eat with a for since they use tortilla strips instead of the entire chip. My eggs Benedict with bacon were delicious and I appreciated how they separated the hollandaise sauce so it didn't get soggy in transit. Staff was amazing! Very helpful when needing support on deciding which meal, provided recommendations, was attentive and intentional with their service. From our table waitress, to the host staff, to other staff in the building, everyone was welcoming and gave us a great experience. We went for coffee our first day in and though the place was closed, they still allowed us to order a coffee. We knew we would need to be back. I don't know how we missed this place the first time we were in Miramar Beach but I won't forget it now. First things first, the beignets were amazing. Every beignets we've ever had in other restaurants (including one in NOLA) fell short of expectations. Not at Ruby Slippers: these were fluffy pillows of joy. We loved them so much we came back the next day to have them and took more to go. The pancakes with cinnamon butter were nice and fluffy. Delicious!
