Really really wanted to love this place but we did not have a great experience. The restaurant is gorgeous and a great environment. Unfortunately the service brought it down tremendously. Our entire meal ended up being comped which we were appreciative of, but we hoped for so much more from the restaurant. The food is fine. Not bad but not great. The restaurant is in a little nook with other businesses. Parking was a little tough to find but we did alright. The atmosphere is very nice inside and is casual. The service was very good and prompt. The grouper had very good flavor and isn't fishy tasting. For those that don't like seafood I would recommend trying it. The crab leg boil was seasoned but didn't have much flavor to it. The fish tacos were fine. The steak was tender but didn't have much flavor to it either. We visited during a holiday trip to Destin. It was a cold November evening. This spot is essentially outdoors - we just had basically see-through tarps covering open spaces. When we were seated, the host didn't offer to clean a table close to one of those standing heaters. Instead, we asked our server, who got someone to clean it so we could move. Apparently, this spot has really great views, but because of the season it was pitch black outside. When visiting a new restaurant, I tend to try a core item. Something they're know for or should definitely have down. So, I got their signature burger, which was honestly underwhelming. Their brussel sprouts were quite good, but could have used a bit more seasoning. I think I should have gotten some kind of seafood, because others in my party said they were fresh and tasty. Overall, I think they need an overhaul for accommodating low temp seasons and some pizzazz for late night diners. read more

We got lucky with the parking spot right out front. We had reservations so it didn't look like we really needed them and we were seated right away. We had a nice waiter who brought us water and menus right away. It looked like a great place with a great view and we thought it was going to be perfect for our last night in town. Up to that point we had enjoyed a great week in Destin and we had met and talked to a lot of really nice people. The wind was coming off the water so hard that the napkins wouldn't stay on the table. So we asked the waiter if we could move and he said it was fine with him but he would have to ask. Another server came over to try to lower the shade screen but it was broken and couldn't be lowered to block the wind. We waited only about 5 minutes and our waiter brought my friend her drink and the appetizer she had ordered. We kept waiting for someone to come move us to a different table out of the wind. Then we waited about 5 more minutes and decided to just move to a different table out of the wind. It was about 6 feet away next to a nice family with two small children. There were 2 other tables near us that were empty and it was after 5:30pm so it wasn't very busy yet. I was with my friend who is 65 years old and her 11 year old granddaughter. We were sitting at the new table about 2 minutes when the manager came over and started being INSANELY AGGRESSIVE. So I stood up to talk with him and explain the situation but he wouldn't listen to anything I had to say. He kept saying "You broke the rules and that's not how we do things here!" The table we were sitting at had already been cleaned and was available (and out of the wind) but this guy's ego for some reason just wouldn't let it go and he wouldn't let us stay at that table. He kept telling us we had to go back to the table in the wind and wait for someone to re seat us. At this point I was pretty sure we were in clown world. He was loud, rude and making a scene and my friend and her granddaughter were embarrassed and scared. The couple with children were staring were in shock and no one around us could believe the guy was being this crazy. Then as the crazy guy got closer to my face I smelled alcohol on his breath. I realized then I was up against an angry, intoxicated fool. When I told him I smelled alcohol on his breath he freaked out and told us to leave. He called security and the tall skinny security guy led 2 senior citizens and an 11-year-old girl out the front door. Needless to say we were all in shock and my blood was boiling. We went to Boshamps and had a great meal and the people working there seemed much happier - and they were definitely a lot nicer all around. We have an all guys fishing trip planned for late July with me, my brother and 7 of our friends. We DEFINITELY WILL NOT be going to the Edge. I feel sorry for the staff that have to work with crazy boy. He's the only A-hole we met in Destin. I REALLY wish I could talk to the owner. I looked him up and his name is Chris Thomas. If I could give ten stars I would!!! We had a large party and got seated right at our reservation time and had our food within twenty minutes. Our server, Brandon, was absolutely wonderful and so helpful with figuring out substitutions and recommending menu items. The seating is all open air, so it got a little warm, but not too much of an issue. Could possibly use more fans and lights. The steak was well-plated but lacked flavor, but my mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese were INCREDIBLE! I also had a bite of my cousin's burger, which was insanely good as well. Great texture, flavors, the whole nine yards! He says it's the single greatest burger he's ever had! All in all, a must-visit if you're in the Destin area--we'll absolutely be back next year :) read more

1. Parking is terrible. 2. When we got there, the hostess was RUDE! 3. Went upstairs. It was so windy, we moved tables. We had to sit by the server galley. 4. Crab boil is a joke. No meat in the crab legs. 5. Oysters for appetizer are disgusting. It's like they take them out, put them on ice, and then put th back on the shell. Not fresh at all. The ice in the container they put them on was melted. The server spilled it in my water when she took it away. Never offered to bring me a new water. 6. If we could do half stars, this would be a solid 4.5 . The parking isn't great, but we got there around 5:30, and was lucky enough to get a really good spot. The location/view is awesome. You are right on the water with an awesome view for your dinner. We had a party of 7, one a baby with a high chair, and was seated in about 25-30 min, not too bad. We were in a booth, so it was a little tight, but we made it work. Our server did a good job and was very friendly. We started out with an order the Harbor wings. We have been coming to Destin for about 8 years, and these were the best wings we have found. No different sauces to choose from, just their own buffalo style sauce, but they were delicious. So good, we ordered a 2nd order and didn't feel bad about it for one second (5). If you like wings, like we like wings, you know how important the ranch is, and the ranch here was very good. We all tried something different, which is always nice so you can get a good feel for the food. Blackened Mahi (4), Grouper (4 ), Snapper sandwich (3), blackened shrimp (3.5). The fries got rave reviews (5), mashed potatoes (5). Chicken (4). We would definitely go back to the Edge, and if your entire party is 21+ you can eat upstairs where the view is even better. One thing that is a big bonus, you can make reservations for the main seating section. read more

We went to The Edge on Mother's Day to enjoy the view and have a seafood boil with my mom, siblings, and our family. My kids, who are 14 and 16, were with us. I was not aware that minors were not allowed upstairs until after we had already been seated and all of our food had been served hot at the table. Then the manager, BUD, came over abruptly and told us we had to leave because my kids were underage. I understand that restaurants have rules, but the way he handled it was rude and unnecessary. I told him I had no problem moving downstairs, but since our food was already served, I asked that they help accommodate us with a table downstairs and move the food. Instead, he told me that was something I needed to do myself. When I said I would move once a table was arranged, he threatened to call security. That completely ruined what was supposed to be a nice Mother's Day lunch with my family. The issue was not the policy. The issue was the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic customer service from management. read more

We made a reservation for 8:30pm and weren't seated until 9:45pm, which is completely unacceptable for a place that takes reservations. Unfortunately, that was just the start of the issues. Multiple meals at our table came out wrong, and in some cases, had to be sent back more than once, which made an already long night even more frustrating. The food itself was underwhelming and not worth the wait. The only thing offered to make up for it was comping a couple of our pre ordered appetizers, which felt minimal given how much went wrong. Overall, a really disappointing experience and negatively impacted one of the most important nights on our trip. We won't be returning and would not recommend. read more

We have lived here for over twenty years. Last Wednesday we took two out of town guest to The Edge. This was the worst dinner we have ever had in twenty years. Destin is known for its fine seafood. The gumbo was too salty. To the point that we could not eat it. Then we ordered corn fritters. They were under cooked. The outside was over fried. The interior was mush. Two of us ordered the Destin Red Snapper. A $34 meal. The fish fillet was small, bronzed (blackened), and over cooked. It was so overcooked that it required a knife to cut thru the fish. It had a fishy smell. Probably frozen at some point. It was not edible. Fresh red snapper is a go to fish for the locals. Very disappointing. The young waitress could see that we didn't eat our meals. She offered a free dessert. We passed. We did give her a 20% tip. She tried to make up for the terrible food with good service. We won't be back to The Edge. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Waited for an hour to get seated and weren't served for 45 minutes. Nobody even came by to offer water. We left after the 45 minutes because the table behind us was having a similar problem. They waited ONE HOUR for their check and said the food wasn't great. This is embarrassing for a nice restaurant. Service should be top notch considering their menu prices. The Edge should rethink their entire business strategy. Any other restaurant will be MUCH BETTER. WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

Very disappointed We were excited to try a nice fancy restaurant for our last day in Destin, but we chose the wrong place for that. We arrived at 6 and the place was absolutely packed. We were ready to wait 2 hours because we're used to doing that at popular places during busy times. We got to the host (an older lady with blonde hair) we told her we had a party of 3. She said we could go upstairs and find a seat so we walked upstairs and the place was packed with people, no open seats, and tons of people watching like hawks for someone to get up. We go back down and ask her to put us on the wait list and she said she could sit us right away at the bar around the corner, all we had to do was pull up a chair. We walked over and there were two open seats but no extra chair anywhere (we had a party of 3). We went back to her for a third time just begging to be put on a wait list for an actual table and we finally got on there. We were handed half priced drink vouchers to ease the pain of the 2 hour wait. We went to get our drinks and they grabbed a milk jug full of a premixed drink and poured us one. The drink had no alcohol in it seemingly and it still costed $7. 2 hours later we finally got sat at a booth. Our waiter Brandon was very kind and took great care of us (no hate on him). I got some shrimp gumbo as an appetizer and It was the best thing I had there. I got oysters as my entree and they were good. My fiancée got the Caribbean chicken and it was dry and tough like it's been sitting for a while and not cooked fresh, and her asparagus was raw and rock hard. The food came out about 5 minutes after ordering so we knew the chicken wasn't cooked fresh. We let Brandon know we didn't like the chicken and he promptly replaced it with the lobster mac and cheese. The Mac was flavorless and the lobster tasted like fish. It also came with bread that was rock hard and extremely spicy. We're really sad we waited two hours and spent over $100 on something so disappointing. It just seems like they lower standards when it gets really busy, and maybe it would be better during a slow time. read more

We came here for my bachelorette party. It was the only meal out that we had planned and I was very disappointed with the experience. All of the staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. However, we had several issues. First, we called earlier in the morning in an attempt to move our reservation from 6pm to 7:45pm (because there was an open reservation slot) but they told us that was not possible so we had to hack the system to move our reservation time. Next, when our food arrived two of the meals were missing and took 20min to come out. Those two members of our group did not get to eat until well after everyone else was done eating. Then, we were told those two meals would be taken off our receipt for this inconvenience but they were not. The most tragic part of this whole story is that we were unable to go somewhere to get ice cream after our dinner because every place was closed by the time we were done. And I'm the bride so I never get to do this again unless I get divorced!!!! Sorry to my husband in advance. read more
