Smoked Tuna Dip
Mark W.

Recommendations: Smoked Tuna Dip Snow Crab Legs Crab Trap is decorated in a beach style that truly gives off a relaxed coastal vibe. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the breeze from the sea, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We started by sharing the Smoked Tuna Dip as an appetizer. Just like many other Yelp reviewers mentioned, we loved it. The restaurant served it with crackers, but cucumbers are available upon request. The tuna had a rich smoky flavor, and each bite made you want to go back for more. For the main dish, we ordered the Snow Crab Legs, which came with 1 1/2 pounds of crab along with corn and new potatoes. The crab was fresh and packed with sweet, tender meat. It does take some time to crack and pull out all the meat, but it is absolutely worth the effort. Crab Trap also provides wet wipes for your hands, so do not be afraid to dig in and enjoy the full seafood experience.

All I can say is Delish! Our waitress Alo was the best we have had in Destin! She is very attentive and makes you feel like you are family. The food was so delicious. Our granddaughter had the snow crab legs, an abundance of yumminess. We also had the cajun chicken pasta, the seafood platter, boiled shrimp, and kids chicken fingers. The restaurant was decorated with the usual sea creatures but very tastefully done. I totally recommend this place. A helpful hint: go early and no wait.

Cobia fish plate

We ate here twice when we came to Destin if that tells you anything. First time we came we had the Cobia fish meal. All of it was delicious. The second time for dinner we had their crab plate and it lived up to its name "The Crab Trap". We will absolutely be coming back for some crab next time we're in town! Service was fast and every waiter we had was friendly and enjoyable. The vibes of this place right on the beach are wonderful!

The Crab Trap had one of the most beautiful views! I know the surrounding restaurants have a similar waterfront view, but it was still so nice to sit back and enjoy it. I ordered the Catch of the Day, which was bronzed amberjack, served with potatoes and steamed vegetables. The fish was flavorful, the vegetables were steamed perfectly, and the potatoes were soft and delicious. I also tried the gumbo with rice. The rice was a little more al dente than I expected, but the gumbo itself was rich, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The customer service was great from start to finish. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely come back.

Lovely view of the back deck. The Barish crab legs were very delicious a bit sweeter than snow crabs.. my sister's meal was quite average as she had crabcakes that were obviously not from the backfin crab meat and had too much breading. Epic fail.. the cocktails were weak. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet.. the view alone was worth it! Be prepared for a pricey meal, of course for us tourist. The crab plate was $77. Enjoy

Enjoy the Wednesday firework near the Pier. Then we head straight to The Crab Trap. We came in big group, it took them a little while to set up our seats indoor. Gladly our server was prompt and friendly. We ordered raw oysters, they were fresh and good. Seafood gumbo (bowl) - it was good but the portion is little. Fried calamari, Fried red snapper and jumbo shrimps, fried fish fingers - thick batters and dry. Stream snow crab and shrimps (for two) - portion is okay but not outstanding. Piña Colada - I thought it was for kids. My kids got the crab bucket and they were happy.

We eat here every time we come to Destin. It's one of our favorites! It's on the beach so what more can you ask for. The kids got buckets which is super cool! Highly recommend! Service has always been great!

Ask the Community - The Crab Trap, Destin

Are pets allowed on the patio?

Do they serve Raw oysters?

Yes they do and they are freaking delish, some of the best I've ever had

Is the playground still there?

Yes it is. We were last there in June and our grandkids played out there until our table was ready.

Why are you charging a 'S.E.A' s/c? I saw nothing to indicate you're still following Covid guidelines (had regular menus, no one was sanitizing tables, etc.). It wasn't a lot of $ but it all adds up if you're adding it to everyone's ticket.

I don't have a problem with charging a environment fee but let it be my choice. Trash was flying everywhere because of it being windy outside on the deck. I couldn't find any server or other restaurant staff wearing a mask. I didn't see any patrons…

Do they have live music?

No it doesn’t

We visited The Local Market because we kept hearing they had "the best Cuban in Destin." After…read moreeating there, I honestly do not understand the hype at all. First off, this is not a real Cuban sandwich. The bread was completely wrong. Real Cuban bread, especially if you've ever had one from Ybor City in Tampa, has a very specific texture and press. I even explained before ordering that I only wanted the outside pressed and toasted, while the inside stays cool. That's how an authentic Cuban is made. Instead, they brought out a sandwich that was heated completely through. The meat, cheese, everything inside was hot. It completely ruined the sandwich. When I politely asked about it, the employee seemed irritated and had an attitude about remaking it. They eventually brought another one out, but honestly it still was not good. The bread tasted wrong and the sandwich itself just wasn't enjoyable. It got worse from there. My grandson ordered chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were bad, and the fries tasted like old grease that should have been changed hours earlier. My wife ordered a shredded chicken and cheese sandwich that honestly smelled questionable, like the chicken may have been turning. The final straw was the fruit cup having visible mold growing in it. At that point we lost our appetite and decided to leave. Very disappointing experience overall. Poor food quality, bad execution, and not worth the money. We will not be returning.

For a quick lunch before flying home to Houston, this place was a wonderful reprieve from the tourists and heat. We ordered: -Beef tartare: this was delicious & one of the best tartares I've had. Generous portion. -Bone marrow & escargot: this was meh. It was hard to scoop the marrow out & hardly anything came out. Would be better to cut the bone length wise like other places. Also, the bread the escargot was on top of was wayyy too thick. -Foie gras torchon: rich & really delicious. Perfect ratio & balance of flavors to balance out the fattiness of the foie gras. -Blue crab pappardelle: this was amazing! If you're a crab lover, this is a must order. Generous portion of crab & great al dente pasta. -Husband ordered fish of the day (branzino I think?): fish was nicely cooked, but the sauce was inedible. Was way too sweet, like candy. -Kids had the fettuccine Alfredo & wagyu cheeseburger with fries from the kids menu. I thought both were overly salty, but they all enjoyed it. Fries were exceptionally good, but again, just too salty. Overall, we found some orders to be either exceptionally good or underwhelming. Service was attentive & we were given great wine recommendations to accompany our dinners. We enjoyed our meal & had plenty for lunch leftover with the generous portions.
