We ordered the fried green tomatoes for a starter, which were delicious as always, I ordered the bread pudding pancakes, they were good but not as good as before. A little too sweet for me. Our server was phenomenal, she was upbeat, always nearby and never allowed our water glass to get below half full. It was very busy inside and outside, but was not loud at all. i cook at bunkleys burger and grill and i got to baytown early so i desided to eat breakfast here and the food was good don't get me wrong but i got the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes and it had a straw wrapper in it and that means my food should be a semi priority. no. it took 20 to 30 minutes until they brought it out and i was still waiting on my eggs after getting the pancakesand on top of that we had piss poor service. we desided to sit outside and simply got 2 waters a dr. pepper to drink and we are only empty on drinks and our server is literally at the table beside us petting a dog and we get her attention to get refills and we ask to pay. we wait 10 minutes and nothing so we go inside to pay to look for her for and ask abt her she is pcling up another table. i end up leaving my pancakes at the restaurant and get it taken off the ticket read more

Ruby Slippee Cafe hasn't been open to long, but in the coming weeks and months I definitely suggest doing the join waitlist to save yourself time waiting in line for a table. Ruby Slipper is located in Sandestin in the wharf. Perfect location to eat outside and enjoy the sun while dining with your friends. i would say must haves are the French toast bites. The portion size is a good size to share w a group of 4. We also got the beignets which were good, but I would lean towards to the French toast bites if you were choosing between the two. I order the migas which is pretty much like chilaquiles. I would say this was a little difficult to eat with a for since they use tortilla strips instead of the entire chip. We ordered take out from here through the website, biked to the beach and had a wonderful breakfast. My eggs Benedict with bacon were delicious and I appreciated how they separated the hollandaise sauce so it didn't get soggy in transit. My husband and I were here on vacation. Twice on seperate mornings we decided to walk down to the Slipper to grab a quick breakfast. The first morning after being seated, we noticed that the table and menus were sticky. It was from leftover cream that had not been wiped up. No problem. Husband went and asked for a damp towel so that HE could wipe down the table. Not only did the waitress seem bothered by his question, but gave him a dry towel to wipe it himself. We let it go. 2nd morning, we decided to walk down to grab something to go. Soon as we walked to the bar, waitress acted like we were bothering her. Didn't greet us, didn't smile. Just took our order like we just ruined her morning. While waiting,my husband walked back to the garage to grab his car as I stayed behind to receive our order. When it was ready, the bag was slid to me abruptly without a word from the waitress. When I looked up, I said "Oh! Thank you" Waitress responded with a "mmm hmmm" . Unacceptable behavior. Staff was amazing! Very helpful when needing support on deciding which meal, provided recommendations, was attentive and intentional with their service. From our table waitress, to the host staff, to other staff in the building, everyone was welcoming and gave us a great experience. We went for coffee our first day in and though the place was closed, they still allowed us to order a coffee. We knew we would need to be back. We went for breakfast the following day and it was superb service. With that, we will be back every day during our long weekend stay. read more

I don't know how we missed this place the first time we were in Miramar Beach but I won't forget it now. First things first, the beignets were amazing. Every beignets we've ever had in other restaurants (including one in NOLA) fell short of expectations. Not at Ruby Slippers: these were fluffy pillows of joy. We loved them so much we came back the next day to have them and took more to go. The pancakes with cinnamon butter were nice and fluffy. Delicious! We stayed at the Grand San Destin and this little brunch spot was a stroll down from our village. The wait was about 20 minutes but worth the wait. What an amazing find down here at the Wharf! Between the delicious breakfast food, refreshing cocktails and excellent service- this is a don't miss if you're in the area. The real hit was our ringleader of a bartender Rosie. She handled an insane rush while maintaining a positive attitude and insuring personal service to everyone she came in contact with. I genuinely thought she was the manager. Don't forget to get the cinnamon bites! The food is great, but the service was terribly slow. Granted it was brunch hour, but my expectation on this is that you're staffed properly to handle the rush. In this case I saw a lot of movement but not much being done. The waitress took our order and no sooner had we confirmed our drinks did she bolt off. We then waited another 10 minutes for the drinks to come back and then she didn't stay long enough for us to even put in our food or ask for things such as creamer. I noticed several other tables experiencing the same behavior. One spoke up and mentioned that their food order had been prepared improperly because the server had not waited for the woman to ask a question about an ingredient. It's busy, it's hectic on the weekends, but seeing as I've eaten at this chain and its sister location in Charlotte I was really disappointed at the difference from an experience standpoint. I was visiting the area for spring break with my family and we found the restaurant on yelp because it was in walking distance from the hotel. Everyone at the hotel spoke highly of the restaurant so my family and I were excited to try the food and restaurant. The food came out in a timely manner however my order was messed up twice and after that I was not excited anymore about my experience. Broke my vacation rule and dined at the same place twice because I enjoyed the first visit so much. This proved to be a great example of why some rules are made to be broken. All of my earlier comments stand. Service was friendly and attentive, atmosphere was vibrant and casual. Started with a Ruby Mimosa--mimosas are not usually my thing, but this one was enjoyable. Ordered the shrimp and grits for my brunch--amazing! Some of the best shrimp and grits I've had a long while. Shrimp were cooked perfectly, the pork chunks were like little flavor bursts, and the green peppers and onions added just enough pop. Enjoyed a sazerac sipper to close things out (best description is that it was like a more refreshing version of a rye-based--very enjoyable). I also want to commend the manager and my server. There was apparently a mistake in the kitchen, and so my food was a bit slow getting to me. Didn't bother me, but the manager came out to apologize and comped one of my drinks for the inconvenience. The only reason I'm giving this location 4 stars is because you have to stay on the hostess about the wait, they are supposed to text you when the table is ready we were told 15-35 min. It took us an hour to be seated and when we walked after I asked was a table available - there were clearly plenty of seats. The food was good and our food waitress made sure our water was never empty. I ordered a mimosa flight which was pretty tasty and provided a little buzz. The blue flavor was disgusting though. Not to mention its location luckily we beat the crowd and made reservations but if you don't go that route you can walk around and see the other amenities and they'll call you. It came with a chipotle crema, but it needed some plain sour cream to help cut the heat of the rest of the entree. That's the only critique I would give. Ordered DoorDash twice this morning because the first time they forgot our 32 oz. coffee and no syrup came with our order of French toast, we do not carry syrup at home. The actual French toast was also quite bad, effectively just soggy bread and it was missing toppings. Our eggs and sausage sides were very average but nothing was technically wrong with them. I called the restaurant in between 5x in an attempt to confirm syrup and to just cancel the order if they were in fact out of the coffee. Ignored all but once when an employee picked up, said hello, I began speaking (100% politely) and he abruptly hung up. Second order came and refer to the photo below, our "32 oz." coffee wasn't half full, they effectively charged us 16 dollars for a Starbucks Venti. Is this safe to drink? Like it's an already opened Gatorade bottle with coffee in it, not labeled or sealed. The pancakes in the second order tasted like simple syrup dumped into a pan and cooked it for a bit, pretty bad but I would assume some portion of people wouldn't complain. Not a fan of roasting restaurants but this was totally justified, just terrible. Garbage, disorganized tourist trap of a restaurant with middling to bad food and worse customer service. read more
