Grouper platter, cheese grits, green beans and hush puppies.

The service was great, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is family oriented and has such a hometown feel to it.

Nicks is along a remote section of the highway and by the amount of cars in the lot we figured it had to be decent. Mostly locals, it seemed. There was a table full of officers who were finishing up their meal when we arrived. There were lots of families, kids of all ages. The walls are lined with some really great pics and memories (maybe of the family?) and also some pretty impressive w trophies from hunting and fishing trips. There's lots to see. I didn't get a pic but my husband had the fish sandwich. It was huge. Three large pieces of fish. Would be enough to share. I ordered a half pound steamed shrimp. It was very tasty. We also ordered a fried shrimp platter that my son and daughter shared along with a grilled cheese for my other kid. The side of hush puppies was more than i realized.... They were really good too. The food was all seasoned well. Only one complaint.... Service was pretty rough. We got there around 1:45.... Waitstaff was frazzled at the hind end of a lunch rush and tho we were seated fairly quickly, we sat quite a while waiting for someone to come address us. Maybe they were just having a bad day? If we were locals, we'd definitely be back. The food was great and the casual mood was just our style. I'd go back with low expectations for a warm welcome tho....

My $25.00 fried fish meal. Gloppy grits, 4 shrimp, and 2 fish nuggets. I was robbed.

I drove by this scenic place a hundred times and always told myself I had to eat there. We finally did, and it is just a big regret from start to finish. We ordered 2 seafood dinners and a fried chicken breast dinner. The wife got grilled shrimp and fish, and I got the fried version. First, the chicken...the portion was good, but the chicken was overcooked and dry. My fried fish and shrimp were fine, but for $25.00, it was an absolute ripoff. The fish weren't even whole fillets but 3 inch sections of a larger fillet. Basically, they were 2 fish nuggets. Do the math on this and you quickly realize that you have been had. The wife's grilled was the same meager portions, but to top it off, the skewered shrimp were hammered and tough. Someone forgot about them on the grill or they sat and sat. The cheese grits were anything but creamy. They were actually gloppy and unappealing. The cooks have to had known the grits were obviously gloppy, yet they never took the effort/initiative to heat them up, add some milk, and get them where they needed to be. The place wasn't busy, so they couldn't say they got slammed and lost the quality. Walked out and paid $95.00 for 3 people - no appetizer, no beers, just 3 meals and 3 sodas. Sad.

Love this place. We went there for the crabs as usual and everything was great. One of our "go to" places when we are in Destin.

Food was awful! The quality of the food is not good for the price . The seafood platter was too expensive.

The service was very friendly. The food was good/decent. My wife enjoyed the tile fish and I had the blackened grouper and cheese grits.

Great local place with history and heart. Best fried shrimp on the Gulf Coast! Family owned and operated still, which is rare these days.

I really wanted to like this place, but it ended up being a disappointing experience overall…read more The one standout was the gumbo. It had a nice kick to it, was full of flavor, and the $10 cup was a generous portion. My partner and I both ordered a cup, and it was easily the best thing we ate. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill. We split the fried redfish basket, and for what it cost, it felt almost criminal. There wasn't a price listed, so getting the bill was a shock (especially because all the other baskets were $30). The fish itself was decent quality, but the breading was heavy, bland, and overwhelmed the redfish. The curly fries were unique, but they left both of us feeling greasy and weighed down afterward. Service was mixed. The hostesses were friendly and welcoming, and our server was pleasant as well, though it felt like there was a strong push to upsell throughout the meal. In the end, two cups of gumbo, one fried fish basket to share, and our total came to $85 including taxes and tip. Considering the quality of the fried basket, the value just wasn't there. If the fish basket alone was around $50, that price is hard to justify. It felt more like a money grab aimed at visitors than a restaurant focused on earning repeat local customers.

From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like we were old friends, so warm, so welcoming, and genuinely fun to be around. We were laughing and enjoying ourselves before the food even hit the table. We sat outside with low lighting, soft live music in the background, and the most perfect relaxed atmosphere. The music was lowkey but so good, it added to the experience without taking over. And the food... wow. The wedge salad with the fish of the day was fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, and just done right. This place is intimate, charming, and honestly feels like a hidden gem. Safe to say this is our new spot

Came out tasting fishy and not fresh. Sent it back after trying two, just to make sure the first one wasn't off. Sent it back and they said they took half off the charge for the crabs. I let them know that was unacceptable and I wanted to remove my entree from being made. They came back and said they took the whole cost off, but it's what should have been done from the beginning. I still didn't get my entree. I completely understand that it could have just been a bad batch, but ingredient issues are the problem of the restaurant and not the customer. Fried pickles were breaded in corn meal. They were crispy and tasty. Son got the spaghetti (linguine noodles) off the kids menu. Said he didn't like it because it had a weird texture. I tried it and the noodles were over cooked. Sent it back to be remade. Came back a little over again. He ended up not eating it. My wife got the triple tail (blackened) from the catch of the day. It came covered in a remoulaude, with green beans and a garlic mashed potatoes. She loved her entire meal. My daughter got the fried shrimp with a side of fries. Fries were perfectly crispy but a little under seasoned. Fried shrimp was crispy and seasoned well. She enjoyed her meal. (Son also approved of the meal as he ate some of hers due to not liking his food.) Slight off smell when you walk in, but it fades quickly. (Could just be a me issue as I am hyper sensitive to smells.) Lights dimmed to give a nice ambiance, but then they sit you in hard metal chairs. Kind of confused as to what they are trying to be. Michael was a decent server. Really disappointed because I wanted this to be a great experience.
