Whenever my family goes down to Destin we see rave reviews for Outcast Seafood. They have built up a bit of a miniature empire and have expanded both locations and types of food. My wife and I went to one of their new seafood locations which had been open about a month. We went at an off time (2pm) so there wasn't much of a rush. the dining area is large and there is also a long bar at one in. It was a bit of a utilitarian space, not surprising since it is in a Florida strip mall, but still it was fine. The waiter was nice. We chatted with him about the food and the restaurant. They had a good selection of beers at the bar with my wife getting a gose that she liked. We decided to split a grouper basket and then a crab boil. The baskets are an absolute steal for the price. It was outstanding. The boils are expensive, and you can choose from a number of different seafood options. There are two spice levels, we went with the standard over the hot. It was flavorful. Not hot, but definitely had a cajun punch to it. The crab was well cooked and we really enjoyed it. The only knock is that it came with just one piece of corn and one potato. These aren't very expensive sides, and for a "boil" I expect more. This is a pretty minor issue though and overall it was a great time. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. The only good thing about this place was that my son, who chose to come here for a lobster, very much enjoyed it. Other than that everything was terrible. We had originally tried to go to the one in Miramar beach which has great reviews but with the size of my party (6+1 high chair) it was going to be a 2.5hr wait, they suggested to go to the one in Destin because of the location being bigger, we would be seated faster. Before I left that location, I asked the host "is it the exact same?" They said "yes". I feel like I got scammed. It was the worst experience. Service was horrible. Our waiter would tend to the tables around us, even make eye contact with me but never came over to ask if we needed anything else. When he took our order, we asked for a dozen of oysters - sold out. We asked for the fried calamari, they were all out of calamari. We asked for the scissors and cracking tools for the lobster we ordered, they had none to give us. We had to wait at least 10 mins until they could give us a pair. We ordered 1lb of shrimp with head on, and it was all over cooked. The shrimp were falling apart. My daughter's corn dog basket was $10 and only had one small corn dog with a load of fries under. My husband ordered the jalapeño poppers, they were extremely hot, he cut them in half to cool down, and when it did cool down, the cream cheese had harden. With the other location having such good reviews, versus this one, I should've waited the 2.5hrs. There's obviously a reason why that location was packed and this one barely had anyone. Cleanliness was a zero as well. The women's restroom had paper towels falling out of the trash can and toilet paper all over the floor in the stalls. The table that was next to us had a huge puddle of what looked like water, nobody was wanting to clean up, they had a caution slip sign by it when we sat down and when we left. Hands down to this place for its tasty food and service and kudos to our kiddo who suggested we try it. Service: I'll give our server Kennedy 5 s . She was super friendly & did an amazing job with food suggestions and she kept out drinks topped off. Ambiance: super casual, family friendly Food: DELICIOUS, tasty, the portions were great and very reasonable prices. We had the head on shrimp" hot" spice on ours and it was sinus clearing but very tasty & yet not extremely hot. And we also tried the fried shrimp basket, which was very very lightly coated and it was perfect. Suggestion: don't wear a white or light top like my mother. They do provide bibs and gloves, but what fun is it if you can't get it all over the place. Will definitely be coming here again. read more

We stumbled across this place by Google chance when our original destination had a one hour wait. What a great find this was! They were busy, about 30 minutes wait. I was annoyed (hangry) and just wanting some shrimp. The hostess said we could eat at the bar. I was annoyed by this idea because I hate eating at bars, but again...hangry. So, I plopped my big butt down and looked at the menu. I immediately noticed the music...awesome 80s rock. That always makes me happier. I like the layout of the restaurant. It is very open and the tables aren't packed in. The openness of the place adds a laid back, comfortable vibe. I found it relaxing. The bartender was awesome! I did not catch her name, but it was her birthday, and she was working. Kudos, my girl! What a wonderful attitude! My husband has trouble seeing (and refuses to get glasses). The bartender grabbed a big board that had all the seafood listed. I ordered the head on shrimp. Oh! And we know how I love spicy. I piled on the spice. Hubs ordered crab and heads off shrimp (no spice...wimp) and sweet potato tots AND cheesecake. Guess he was hungry. Everything was so good. Now, next time, I think I will order my shrimp heads off, and here is why. I sampled some of Hubs shrimp, and set it in my dish where it soaked in the spice. It seemed to absorb the spice better than heads on did. So, atmosphere was chill, food was great, and service was excellent. I was talking to the bartender about how we were here looking for a wedding on the beach destination for our son and his fiancee and how we were just clueless where to start. She gave me a name of an officiant. And with one quick message to this guy, days of stress went away. Okay. I know this has nothing to do with food, but when you walk into a restaurant hangry and with stress, and you walk out with a very happy belly and stress relieved...nothing beats that! read more

Food was soooo good we got the Seafood Boil with extra shrimp, it was amazing specially for the beach day! Service was very attentive, our server Chris went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Actually do not go here. As an entire Florida native my whole life this is an absolute scam. 60 doll hairs for 2 legs of snow crab ? Not even stone crab, snow crab. The cheap one. The one you can even get for 3 whole pounds at Sam's Club, heck even Publix for 30 dollars. I didn't even take pictures. I normally do when I review a place but the shrimp boil comes out in one of those throw away aluminum baking dishes for a personal banana bread. Like 8 by 4 inches. It only came with 7 shrimp, 42 dollars and that was with the add ons like the corn, potatoes, egg (2.50 per boiled egg). Also there is a scale when you order a boil for heat. So I chose in the middle considering it is a scale. The waitress rudely said there was no scale and it's either hot or not, even though there are markers denoting levels with skulls. Please go anywhere else for a boil. And if you are in Tampa bay rusty bellies, heck even me and Mrs crab has a better deal without the mid taste this place is. Also this place was sticky with wet floor signs in the main path the whole duration of our time (2 and a half hours). read more

I knew by the line outside the business at this location was top tier. Unfortunately for me my experience was just not "great." Our bartender was extremely good, and this review isn't a knock on this establishment at all. My wife and I just aren't seafood lovers. Just wanted to try it. The shrimp was amazing. I would come back and eat nothing but the shrimp and corn omgggg fantastic. The crab legs were just too much work for us for not enough reward. Overall the scene was nice and family oriented, well put together business. We just aren't big seafood guys. But based on the line outside and happy customers to our right and left I would say if you're in Destin and enjoy seafood you should come check it out. read more

When we walked in the door with my service dog we were immediately told my dog couldn't come in the restaurant. When I explained to the hostess he was a service dog the hostess asked what 2 services he did. The hostess violated my rights as a disabled person by asking why he was a service dog. The hostess names Alexis was extremely rude and her tone was condensing. Because of the way we were treated when we walked in we almost left. We decided to stay but the experience didn't get much better. Our servers name was Jason. He had moments where he was extremely pleasant but also had moments of acting like we were bothering him. He perked up when my boyfriend told him we would do a positive review and then was backing over backwards to try to be pleasant. The hostess n server ruin what could have been a fantastic experience because the food was actually really good. If you don't mind staff with an attitude then I'd recommend the place. Our meal cost $170 for both of us. For spending that much money on a meal for 2 of us I would have liked to have had a better experience with the staff. If we ever go back (which I doubt) we will ask NOT to have to deal with Alexis or Jason. I hope management sees this review and educates both Alexis and Jason the importance of providing a positive experience. As i said our seafood was cooked perfectly along with everyone else's food in our party. Almost forgot the bathroom was nasty. The food was AMAZING! The boil is a signature blend that they make in house and I've never tasted a more flavorful and decision boil. The crab and lobster were cooked to perfection so that the meat pulled out easily and was all intact (no waste). Prices were reasonable for the delicious food you get and it was all super fresh. They have options on the menu for non-seafood eaters as well so if you have crazy people o in your group that don't love seafood- they will still get a good meal. MJ and Shane were super friendly. We met one of the owners to and he was very passionate about his business and friendly. He expressed their desire to provide folks with good food and a great atmosphere. My husband loved the Mississippi catfish. I had a Caesar salad which was just bland snd served in a tin foil bowl. The pork rinds were tough .My husband ordered a numbly numb drink which ended up costing $18. The price was not on the menu! The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The place was neat and the food was served in trays instead of a flat plate or bag, which honestly is better. The only thing disappointing was that the flavor was lacking. We went with the mild, which of course, nothing crazy, but it just didn't have as much of a kick as some of the other seafood places we visited.
