They cook their steaks in a green egg. They are smoked. The steak was tender. Cooked MR like we requested. It had a very strong pepper seasoning on it. To much for me . I missed the searing & char. Also A lot of fat & grisle. I had 2 sides. Mashed potatoes & brown gravy. Plus glazed carrots. Both items were just ok. Instant potatoes.baby carrots- not really glazed, just sweet .The side salad was fresh & generous. We enjoyed the cowboy beans. The service was Slow & spotty. We went here for the first time today. I've heard mixed things about it but wanted to try for myself. The restaurant itself smelled like cigarette smoke but it was nice otherwise. The service was ok and timely. The food however is what brings down this review. The food might possibly have been the worst thing I've ever eaten. I feel sick even having taken a few bites. It was so bad that we had to ask them to take it off the bill because I couldn't even stomach taking a few bites. We won't be coming back. It felt like an episode of Hell's Kitchen. Price was crazy for this fish and chips. $17 for 3 of these fish sticks. Next to a crinkle fry for reference We had a burger that was no cheese but they put it on there. I walked around to tell them we would just take it and add another one plain. What I saw was the server scraping the cheese off with a knife and holding it in her bare hands, clean or not, that is gross. It was passed through the window to be made. What if the person had a lactose issue or something. I did address the issue with her and she apologized it's just the point that it happened. They refunded the burger but still gross. Arrive for a late lunch, and looking for good food. They were not busy, so took a table, and server was on top of delivering menus and silverware. She took our drink order promptly. Placed an order for Shepherds pie and country fried steak. Our server said the pie was one of her favorites. OK - correct me if I'm wrong, but is Shepherds pie made with ground lamb?, the serving of pie was very small, and came with an equally small piece of cornbread. My husband commented that it was just ok, he left hungry. I had the country fried steak with white gravy, which was good. I'm NO authority on this, since it is only the second one I've ever had. It was hot, a fair sized serving, gravy was tasty, and side of okra and greens were good. We tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday and we're excited to try it, however the food was not good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and it came on a bed of lettuce that used to be green but have started to turn reddish brown. The green beans came from a can, the okra tasted like it was frozen, the chicken was ok but was nothing special. Very frustrating to spend over $40 for a meal I could have made at home. I stopped by Brothers Kitchen at approximately 5 pm after an appointment in Niceville because the location was convenient. I have never been there before, so I reviewed the menu online before going inside. I knew immediately that I wanted the "fish and chips." The menu specified "cod" so I was expecting English-style fish and chips. The waitress promptly came to my table with a smile and a menu. As I had already decided on my meal, I gave her my drink and food order. My food arrived, I was discouraged to see what I had ordered. From the uniform size, shape and texture of the three pieces of fish, I was obvious that the had been frozen and simply dropped into the deep fryer. The hushpuppies were also from frozen, but had a decent taste and texture. Rather than "chips," I had opted for the potato salad, which was obviously prepared in house and not half bad. The coleslaw was barely passable. It was served with a generous portion of tartar sauce, which helpfully provided some flavor to the fish. When I arrived, I was one of two tables in the ample dining room. Most of the patrons (about 16) were seated around the large island bar in the center. They were not overly loud, but the audio from the dozen or so t.v.s was a but distracting. Judging from the food I received, this is not so much a culinary destination as it is a neighborhood bar (in a strip shopping center). Overall, I'd give it a pass. read more

Stopped in after church on Sunday. I've ate there before and the food was pretty good. I had a fish basket, wife had shrimp basket and brothers in law had catfish. The fish was some of the worse fish I've ever had. More batter than fish. It was obviously frozen and greasy. My wife's shrimp wasn't much better. She only ate half of her meal. Brother in law said the catfish wasn't fresh but it wasn't bad. Not sure why a good restaurant would serve such bad food but I won't go there again on Sunday. Appears they have a different menu for Sunday, but for $81 for 3 people, is a high price to pay for scrappy food. read more

Decided to stop in for the first time for some good ole southern cooking. Was surprised to see the place a little empty since it was a little after 1 pm and was a bit skeptical at first. But let me say, they really exceeded my expectations. I was stuck between the Cod fish basket and the shrimp poboy. We got the fried mushrooms as our appetizer. DELICIOUS!!!! The shrimp poboy was AMAZING. Generous size. My friend got the spicy chicken sandwich and left no crumbs. HAHA. Took some friends for lunch. Service was bad, hardly any diners they had 1 maybe 2 servers working. Took 10 minutes to get a menu. When order was taken it was about 45 minutes before we asked about our order. Server said he'd check on it. When he came back he said there was a printer problem & apparently our order didn't get put in. Then 2 of the orders came out. The other were out in about another 15min. My food was fine & everyone else's was ok. Management needs to get involved & see that they have enough servers & cooks especially at lunchtime. I personally won't be going back. read more

Always delicious. From my understanding, the previous owners sold, I was very concerned that the menu would change, the quality, etc. as happens a lot with changeover. She never sent it to the kitchen. This isn't the first time this server dropped the ball with my orders. She's too busy playing with her phone and socializing with her favorite customer. Having visited several times now, I find the quality of the food to be consistent and well prepared. The American southern comfort food is a nice mix of restaurant fare with some touches of home style goodness. Service is prompt with traditional humble and kind southern friendly graces. The restaurant has a bit of the sports bar motif, having a bar as well as conventional restaurant seating. TVs with sporting events are high on the walls and visible from both the bar area and conventional dining areas. A nice place to have a relaxing lunch or dinner dining experience. read more

I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes. The people with me had a hamburger and fried catfish, with fries. Food came out fast and was plenty warm. Old school presentation. I enjoyed the fries and mashed potatoes; the catfish got great reviews, though I didn't try it myself. I found the country fried steak serviceable but not overly impressive - the batter was a little salty, and the gravy tasted like the kind I get from the store. However, still a solid place to go out to eat in Niceville. I'm interested to see how it changes over time - especially curious as to what the full menu will look like. All three of us stopped in to try their burgers and we weren't disappointed. The meat had a nice char-grill flavor, the buns were Brioche and delicious. I had the cheeseburger and the cheese was the right amount and flavor. The french fries were delicious, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside with the right amount of seasoning for me. There weren't too many people in the restaurant so we got good service. Priced right and delicious is all I could ask for, for a good burger. read more

The food is advertised as southern but it is really just basic and simple, and not very good. Think cafeteria food. I saw previous pictures people took of their food in this place and what we got when we went there was not at all as nice. The New Orleans Roast Beef sandwich was this huge bun with a 1/8 inch layer of runny roast beef. The bun was 6-8 inches thick and tasted like it was the cheapest bun available. Everything is a level or two below Po Folks, so really a huge disappointment. read more

We decided to go to Brothers since we were in the area. We started with fried green tomatoes, my husband ordered the rice and beans and I had the country fried steak as entrees. What a wonderful surprise to find such flavorful and comforting food in Niceville! The fried green tomatoes were nicely fried with the right amount of crunch and the fried okra, which came with my country fried steak, was tasty too. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful and explained what was popular on the menu. The portions are large and prices are reasonable. It was average for food and service. Nothing we were served wowed us. First of all the menu... there is a section that lists meats and vegetables, but they are not available. The only meats (four available; 2 beef and 2 chicken) and veg available are what is on the chalk board of the 'blue plate special'. Please don't list what we can't have - or what might be available Tuesday or Friday night or next Sunday. In other words, they rotate out what they have selected for the day from the master list they have printed on the menu. The fried green tomatoes were the best thing we had. They were thick sliced and cornmeal battered. I ordered chicken fried steak with cream gravy, potatoes and broccoli. My potatoes came with brown gravy, I wasn't asked but thought it would match my meat. The other order for the table was fried chicken never asked white or dark, potatoes with brown gravy (again not asked, but the brown gravy was good) and fried cabbage. When asked how cabbage was prepared, it was explained that it was fried in a cast iron skillet. It came out dark brown and in some kind or beef broth or maybe something else to season it with, and very soft. More like boiled cabbage. Dinner rolls are not individual rolls but rather a slice of a roll, like half of a Hawaiian king roll, good, but not what I expected. read more
