The place is a cozy, older styled southern restaurant with lots of charm. The waitress we had - I…read morecannot remember her name - was extraordinary and took such good care of my family and I. Three out of four of us had ordered the hamburger steaks and while we waited our waitress checked in on us, refilled drinks multiple times, and kept updating her with the status of our order. We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes when our waitress came back and informed us that the kitchen failed to communicate that they were actually completely out of hamburger steaks. She was super apologetic, asked if there was anything else we wanted, and immediately offered compensation for the issue. We all ordered something else and she got the order in as quickly as possible, came back to check in on us some more, and got her manager to comp one of our meals and some pies for us. The food came out maybe 20 minutes later and everything was hot and fresh. The fried okra was SO GOOD and the chicken was basically falling off the bone. The toast, as seen in the picture, got a little burnt, but my husband had no complaints when he ate it. Overall, our meals were great, the pies were delicious, and the customer service form the waitresses and manager was phenomenal. The being said, this restaurant would 100% be 5 stars for me had the kitchen been communicating with the waitresses. However, they did not and it caused so much unnecessary issues for the waitresses and caused a long wait time for food during my families visit. All in all, this place is worth the try especially for the price point!

We decided to venture out beyond Destin and do some exploring -- and that's when we stumbled on Maui Bus Stop in Fort Walton Beach. So glad we did. The loco moco was great, the teriyaki steak was smoky, well seasoned, and tender, exactly what you want. The mac salad side was creamy and just a little sweet, a perfect complement. And the prices? $10 for a loco moco is absolutely insane in the best way possible. Worth the short drive from Destin. If you're staying in the area and tired of the tourist trap spots, do yourself a favor and find this place. A total hidden gem.

Spam musubi falling apart quick when my girl picked it up (it should stay together until you bite that sh*) The smothered sauce tasted like mostly soy sauce mixed with cornstarch, and too sweet.. poured over the meat. The rice and musubi were bland and not seasoned at all, and the overall taste was very plain. The BBQ/teriyaki chicken was also burnt and cold when served. To make it worse, the portion size was VERY small for over $12. The quality, portion size, and taste did not match the charge at all. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it wasn't what I thought.

The barbecue was delicious - slow cooked, smoky, and the meat was super tender and falling off the bones. The ribs had a molasses-y sauce and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of sauce was on the chicken - it was yellow (curry, mustard, saffron?) - whatever, I liked it. The beans were sugary and cooked over the grill and the potato salad had lots of hard-boiled eggs. At first, I thought $8.99 for lunch was expensive but it's big enough for two - you get 5 ribs, 2 pieces of chicken, bread and sides. Or you can enjoy it a second time. I can't wait to go back.
