We stumbled upon this place last year when we were visiting Destin. My husband has mentioned it several times since we left. He has declared that we must go back multiple times during this year's trip. We just got in tow and we're going to eat there tonight. The chicken is absolutely amazing! It has such good flavor and wasn't dry at all. The fried plantains and fried rice was also very good but I loved the fried yucca. We got a whole chicken and 2 sides for the two of us and it was way more food than we needed. We were able to have left overs, so it is a great value too! read more

El Pollon - 1 Whole Chicken + 2 Large Sides Peruvian Fried Rice Fried Yuca - Peruvian Near Me - Destin, Florida

El Pollon is a pretty good bet for a fast-casual type chicken place. The ordering process was you order at the counter and they brought my food as I waited at the counter. There was a bit of a language barrier, but I conveyed my order easy enough. For a fast-casual type restaurant, it had an appropriate ambiance. I went with a quarter chicken and for my two sides, I went with fried yuca and onion rings. The chicken quarter was a bit small, but the sides were generous. Ultimately, I would recommend El Pollon for a fast-casual type restaurant. read more

While visiting Destin, Fl, decided to stop by and check this place out. As soon as you walk in, you have a big open space dining area (see photo). There are plenty of tables to accommodate large parties. The menu is simple and offers a variety of delicious side items! I was very pleased with El Pollon and will visit again when I see myself in Destin! read more

Lomo Saltado 3/5 - It was tasty but was disappointed on the quality and quantity of the meat. Hardly enough meat and it was a bit chewy. Friend Rice 4/5 Plantain 5/5 Chicken 5/5 Service 3/5 - Has room for improvement. The lady that took our order didn't say hi, smile, didn't say much so ordering the food was awkward somehow. Ambiance of this place and cleanliness 4/5. The place is huge but it lacks of more decor. They have a fridge for drinks but we're empty. Bathroom was 4/5. read more

El Pollon - Lomo Saltado (if you look closely, not enough meat!), Peruvian Fried Rice, Fried Plantain and Chicken . - Peruvian Near Me - Destin, Florida

Absolutely amazing food! 1/4 chicken, dark meat 10/10 Great flavor, juicy, tender. Perfect cook. Comes off the bones easily. Peruvian Fried Rice 10/10 Really good flavor. Love the egg, shredded chicken, and scallions. Perfect cook on the rice too. I also added the mild yellow sauce into some of it too. I came back again the next day for more and the rice was not made the same. Similar, but not the same. Fried plantains 10/10 Great caramelizarían on the outsides, so delicious!! read more

El Pollon - Signature chicken with yucca and fried rice - Peruvian Near Me - Destin, Florida

Really good-- reminds me of viva chicken, but even better!!! Loved the rice and chicken

Not sure where the good reviews are coming from but I didn't have a good experience. The cashier and another worker were counting money in the register at 4pm and didn't acknowledge me as I waited to order. We were the only customers in there and that should have been a sign. I ordered the 1/2 chicken and both the dark and white meat were super dry. Luckily their sauces were tasty but I had to drown the chicken in them to make it edible. The yuca fries and plantains were very good but not enough to make up for the dry chicken. If you are a chicken restaurant the chicken has to be good. Also, charging nearly $4 for a fountain drink is robbery. I know lots of places do it but it's just wrong. I can't recommend this place and doubt I will be back. read more

Summary: a "Peruvian" restaurant that doesn't have the sides that make it a Peruvian restaurant..... no yuca, no plantain and no chicha... BUT IT GETS WORSE... if I can give this restaurant a negative, I would.... Took a Togo order around dinner time... my Peruvian wife insisted that we eat at this restaurant since we were here last year and the food was relatively ok....Well, this year... we came in, fans were keeping the place relatively cool... which was ok.. we are in destin after all.... BUT IT GETS WORSE..... we got back to our rental property only to find out that we were 1 whole chicken short.... We called the restaurant, the guy who answered said he can only give us a "discount" for "next time we come back"... AND FOR THE WORSE PART-----the chicken was very undercooked... look at the attached pictures. Needless to say, we won't be back here read more

Food, service, cleanliness-- everything top-notch. Can't wait for this business to come to Crestview.

Chicken is good for fast food. We ordered a family whole chicken and we had a leg and breast chicken to take to go, asked for extra sauces- they will charge. Lost a star- for the extra charge. read more

This place has ceviche on weekends - enough said. It was delicious. We also had the chicken with plantains and yucca. Yummm!!!!! The yucca was fried perfectly. The chicken was moist and flavorful. It's such a comfort to have natural foods that are not over-salted while traveling. The person helping us order was kind and down to earth. I am not sure why it took a while for my food to come out, but it could be related to the beginning of dinner rush in some way, bc we noticed multiple families coming in about 5 minutes after us. NB: Those families, btw, were also Peruvian. Being viet myself...you know you found quality eats when ppl of the same culture will eat there. The restaurant has really loud chairs (metal on hard flooring makes for very loud sharp sounds that echo). You will want to carry out or eat outside (there was a table out there not sure whose though) if you have sound sensitivity. We were happy with the food here all in all :) read more

I love El Pollon. It is great food, hearty portions, and inexpensive. I order deliver and eat there regularly. Why the one star review? Each sandwich or burrito comes with a yellow and green sauce that they put in insanely small containers, like the size of a dune. I request extra through delivery never get it. I ask for extra in the restaurant, it's as if I just informed the employees to move mountains for me. Why are they coveting these sauces as if they are caviar in liquid form? I have no idea, but take the one star because I've asked for an extra set of miniature sauce containers maybe 25 times now and 0 of those times has the response been "yes, no problem", there is always an issue or I just outright don't receive it. read more

The place seems ok but if you look closely you probably would not want to come back, the food is good but it does not deserve 4.5 stars, because it makes me wonder how clean is the kitchen. read more

Ordered a full chicken that came out dry. Ordered vegetables that were clearly frozen before serving, and were still cold when served. The sides, bean, coleslaw, plantains and Peruvian rice were better. Didn't stay for dessert. read more

Sweet lord smothered in a spicy green sauce...Shoutout to Nic B's review which convinced us to come. This was de-licious!! The chicken was spiced so good...we wanted to get more but while the spirit was willing the flesh was weak. Delicious flavor. Out of the traffic jams of West side. Courteous staff. Great change of pace.

We are visiting for a couple of weeks from Seattle and thought it would be fun to try something new. We weren't disappointed. The chicken is bursting with flavor and melts in your mouth. The onion salad with tomatoes was incredible. The sauces they give you were delicious. We will definitely go there again, and again. read more
