We ordered the following takeout flavors buffalo, hot honey and bbq. It was gone before we knew it and we wanted more. Great wings, fried and tender. The buffalo was spicy but not the traditional just tossed in buffalo sauce, there was other spices on it that were great, the bbq was solid a good solid bbq sauced wing, and the hot honey stole the show. Sweet spicy goodness. Everything came with carrots and celery. We also ordered fries. Those were the thinky sliced but fried for a great crunch to softness ratio. Salt and pepper only but overall really good. My only knock to give which I'll still give 5 stars but it was a bit of a pain trying to figure out was the blue cheese and ranch dilemma. We ordered both obviously for a big party and there were smily faces in marker on them. When you walk in, you walk to the counter and order your food. You are given a number and you can pick a seat. We both ordered the dark meat chicken plate with collard greens and Mac and cheese. We recently met up with friends for lunch at Waldo's Chicken & Beer and had such a great experience. I really appreciated that the menu is small and easy to read -- no overwhelming choices, just really good ones. The combinations are well thought out, and whether you're in the mood for rotisserie chicken or fried chicken, you honestly can't go wrong. I ordered the Tender Chicken Sandwich, and wow -- the sauce absolutely made it. So flavorful and just the right touch to pull everything together. After driving for five hours for our stay in the Miramar Beach area, my wife and I were hungry for lunch before we can check into our hotel. We wanted to be closer to the outlet malls since I wanted to see what they had. In checking Yelp, Waldo's had good reviews so off we went. It was a late lunch so the place wasn't hopping. First time stopping by Waldos and glad I did. I had heard that they had some delicious food. I noticed that they have a pretty good menu with some great choices to choose from. We ordered the 1/4 dark rotisserie chicken with a side of Mac and cheese and some greens and some tenders with potato wedges. The food was freshly cooked and was served hot. The tenders were seasoned very well to the point that we ordered some more. The only thing that wasn't as good were the potato wedges, which were too soft and not flavorful. Although the food was pretty good I must say the restaurant definitely needed some attention. There were food particles on the tables and on the floor. We even had to wipe down our table. I noticed that a staff member would come and get the dishes once someone left, but didn't take the time to actually wipe off the tables. Although there were a few people dinning in the restaurant, I think that's a detail that needs to be addressed as often as possible. Other than that, it was a pretty good visit to Waldos. read more

The service was not stellar. When ordering we had to stop/slow down the girl taking our order to let her know any adjustments with our sandwiches. The food took an incredibly long time - this place seems like a fast food location, but time wise, felt like a sit down restaurant. The pulled chicken sandwich was good, but not a satisfactory amount of chicken or Alabama sauce for the bun size. The chicken club was good as well - the breading is really good, but it had a pickle taste to it (not sure if added by accident then removed?), but it was unfortunate. I got cold fries after asking for my food to be hot, it took 7/8 minutes to get new fries so my chicken got cold while waiting... The owner is a great guy but when he's not there, the food is not the same. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and OMG!!! It's sooooo worth it!! The seasoning on the chicken is PHENOMENAL!! It's so flavored that you really don't need sauce for the chicken. We wanted to try a few sauces but all of them are good. I'm not really a fan of bbq sauce and even the bbq sauce was amazing! I'm also super picky with cole slaw and it was yummy. Wow! I saw this restaurant as I was trying to get to the Adidas store in the outlet mall. I thought to myself at that point this is a new restaurant and I really should try it soon. I found out later that day that my aunt did try it and she said it was very good. I know she mentioned it a couple weeks ago, but I really wasn't familiar with where she was Saying it was located. So again I stumbled upon it just passing by to find a parking spot. I did not eat that day, but I was over exchanging something and decided to pick up a snack and try it. I wanted to try it where I wasn't starving and it wasn't going to be my only meal for the evening just in case I didn't like it. I've noticed that the reviews on yelp Have not been all that favorable, but I really don't understand why... I found this place to be quite interesting. I love the decor of it and the cashier was very friendly. He asked me questions as I placed my order. I didn't have to wait long for my food. I got home which was about five minutes down the road, and it was still hot and very tasty. It was crispy with a tad bit of spiciness, which I really liked. The taste was unusual and not like any other fried chicken taste I have had before. I am a connoisseur of chicken! I love chicken as much as I love barbecue and pizza! I love everything that isn't good for me. However, I will eat things that aren't good for me as long as they taste really good. So I bought the four piece chicken tenders here as well as the quarter white meal that came with two sides. I picked the fries for the tender meal and fries and macaroni cheese for the fried chicken meal. Well I don't know where everybody is from or what is going on with their tastebuds, but I have to say that this chicken was very good. Just for my brief understanding of how they make it they brine it for so many hours and I have had a lot of places to say they do that including an expensive chicken place that is in Vegas and at home in Texas not a fast food place but I wasn't impressed with their brined 24 hour chicken. This I was totally impressed! I love Popeyes chicken but they have some sort of miniature wings or chickens lately because you can get five wings and it really is the size of two. I hate that! If I didn't love red beans and rice so much I wouldn't go there at all. So I would say that this chicken is better than Popeyes. It certainly was fresher and it was not some prepackaged processed meat that Popeyes probably uses. Do I still go to Popeyes? Yes but I really wish they would change the size of those wings! I will still go to Waldos because right now it's the best chicken I've tasted here or anywhere. I am going to make it part of my regular routine when I come to Destin because it definitely deserves a spot on my playlist. The fries were like a hand cut fry or a cross between because they were smaller and stayed crispy. Let me address the macaroni and cheese. Some of you think that macaroni and cheese should be like Kraft macaroni and cheese or noodles with a cheese sauce. Now this certainly is a perspective of macaroni and cheese, but this is not my preferred macaroni and cheese. I like a macaroni cheese cheese just like this Waldo one. This was a baked macaroni and cheese delicacy that could be on anyone's Thanksgiving table or with a chicken meal. So those of you who prefer a baked type of macaroni cheese this is the real deal! I definitely will recommend Waldos and will return. I just have one suggestion in regards to the fried chicken. I really wish that they would separate the wing and the breast when you order that meal. Fried chicken is supposed to be separate if you have rotisserie chicken or baked chicken, or maybe even barbecue chicken you can leave it as one piece but fried chicken is separate and that is so the crispiness gets to all of the pieces and they have their own defined moments. So I wasn't thrilled that my wing was still attached to the top of the chicken breast because I really couldn't unattach it and it gave me less of a wing because of that. I know you guys buy it from the store like that, but you really need to either buy it separately or find a way to detach it before you fry it. That is the only suggestion I have for you, Waldo. Keep going and hopefully next time when I return, I will be able to have a wing that is not attached to my chicken breast! Otherwise Waldo, you are my new best friend for chicken here in Destin! read more
