Went to lunch this afternoon up the road from our resort on our way to get groceries. Never shop on an empty stomach. We came across Cafe Destin only open until 2 each day listed as a brunch cafe. They have a nice breakfast menu with a small lunchmenu .a nice coffee selection. And soda and juice We both went with the Chicken sandwich with fries. A vary friendly atmosphere. The sandwich had all the fixing, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and unfortunately sweet pickles. only down fall. (In my opinion, Dill only) For this i give 4 starts. read more

Review is for the whole experience and about the business model and food with presentation. The service was excellent (5 stars), the host and servers were quick and friendly. The cafe is large and spacious. We came during a weekday late morning-midday. The omelette was good, however, the salad that came with didn't seem fresh. The avocado on the omelette also has some brown spots. The salmon toast came uncut, not freshly toasted, slathered with very creamy tzatziki sauce. It was not the toast I was expecting. And to make the experience less appetizing, everything was served in paper plates and plastic silverware. I asked for actual silverware but they didn't have it. I had to cut my toast with a plastic knife. The side of fruit was this tiny plastic cup and the fruit looked like it had been sitting for days - I did not touch it. To want a true sit-down cafe experience, everything was less than to be desired. We won't be returning. Especially for the price - these are more than NYC prices, it's not worth it. It's a bit of a confusing concept as it's self seating but you need to go up to the counter to order. Service was friendly and welcoming. Food was good but my meal, the omelcado had two hairs. I'm guessing the prices are high because they are having to afford the location. Got 2 orders of biscuits and gravy one smart water and coffee came out to $46 plus they asked for tip so thinking it was going to be good I left a tip. It was not good. There was no service. You seat yourself, you have to get your own condiments and you have to order at the counter. Not to mention. Really enjoyable breakfast/brunch spot walkable from a number of condos and hotels, which is handy (if I can avoid driving on 98 while I'm down here, it boosts the enjoyment factor tenfold and saves the blood pressure...). I'll need to get back to try lunch (burgers sound good), but breakfast choices are solid. Tried the Red Eye, basically eggs Benedict but with pulled pork and red eye gravy, plus a side of crispy, seasoned home fries. Pulled pork was good, the gravy accented it nicely. Quality biscuit base. The poached eggs were a little overcooked, but it didn't ruin the meal or anything, and I suspect it was a one-off error as everything else I saw looked to be prepared quite well. Big stacks of fluffy pancakes, omelets looked quite good...look forward to getting back to try one of the latter. Cold brew coffee was solid. Another spot that I have to pick on for not having fresh OJ...as I said in reviewing another restaurant, if you're doing breakfast/brunch, you just have to find a way to get fresh juice! I was really surprised not to have it here, as they have a fantastic lineup of coffees and teas, it just seemed natural they'd have fresh juice too...but, a small knock on an otherwise strong meal. First time trying this place . I had the club sandwich, it was good , maybe a little more of the garlic aioli as it's on sourdough bread and it can get soaked into the bread quickly . Speaking of the bread it could have been more toasted but overall it was good . The other people I with me had the pulled pork sandwich and said it was good , another had an omelet the build your own and said it was good and the other person chose the build your own bagel and they enjoyed their meal . We found this place off TikTok in Destin and came to check it out. The line was super long when we walked in but that usually is a good sign. It moved pretty quickly and we ordered. $5 for a Red Bull was kind of high! But the meals weren't too overly priced. Tip option comes up and we tip $10. My husband gets to the table and I was like Jesus! That was the quickest 10 buck tip, but we were ok because we thought we were going to get a server. Our meal was brought out and we asked for napkins & syrup. No one came back. Eventually we grabbed napkins from a dirty table on side of us. 20 minutes later the "server" / food runner came back and asked for napkins and syrup again & she just pointed to the napkins on the table that we had took from the other dirty table. At this point, we were kind of annoyed because we tipped 10$ for them to walk us our food. If you are accepting tips for absolutely doing nothing then that's when customers get a little annoyed. Besides the service, the food was good! The Nutella waffle 1000/10!! The veggie omelet 10/10!! The red eye was ok. Husband wasn't too crazy about, maybe a 5/10. The only reason I didn't give a full five star review was it was order at the counter instead of full service. But still 4.7 overall. I was between a 3-4 and decided on a 4 after writing by review and realized I had more positives than negatives but really it's a 3.5. The restaurant is cute, nicely decorated. Let's start with the positive. Gouda grits! Oh my grits they were delicious! Serving sizes, neither of us could finish our meals. I had the club and it was tasty. My Hubbs had a waffle with strawberries. Self service sodas- I guess that's a positive. Quick to get your food. Everyone working was very nice. Clean bathroom Not so positives: Paper plates and plastic cutlery. The menus smell, like made my hands stink kinda smell. Mildewy- yuck! No iced tea. Parking not the greatest, as Cafe Destin is tucked in the back corner off 98 Hwy behind other restaurants, but once you walk-in, it's straight to the counter to order your meal.
