My husband and I stopped at Smashburger in Destin because the aroma coming from the restaurant was…read moreso inviting while we were shopping nearby. Unfortunately, what started as a promising experience quickly turned into one that left us uncomfortable and unable to eat the food we ordered. When we entered, the restaurant was fairly busy, but it did not take long to place our order. While waiting, we observed a cashier who appeared to be assisting with both customer service and food preparation. Repeatedly, she would remove her hat, touch and rub her hair, wipe her face and mouth area, handle cash and customer transactions, and then return to the food preparation area without washing or sanitizing her hands. We watched this happen multiple times. As we continued waiting, we also noticed DoorDash drivers and other delivery personnel accessing and handling bags in the pickup area. Some appeared to be looking through or touching bags while searching for their orders. This created confusion and made it difficult to tell whether customer orders were being properly secured before pickup. The final concern occurred when the same employee who had been touching her face and hair returned to the food preparation area and began assembling order bags. We observed her pick up a serving of fries and place them into a bag without first cleaning her hands. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable consuming the food. As a result, we left behind our milkshakes, Smashburgers, and fries and only kept our sealed bottled water and bottled beverage. Losing the money was disappointing, but we were more concerned about food safety. Beyond the hygiene concerns, the overall order assembly and pickup process seemed disorganized. There appeared to be little separation between customer service, food preparation, and delivery pickup activities. Additional training, clearer procedures, and better control of the food assembly area could go a long way toward improving both food safety and customer confidence. We chose Smashburger because it smelled amazing from outside, and we were genuinely excited to try it. Unfortunately, our experience left us unable to enjoy the meal we purchased.

We ordered the following takeout flavors buffalo, hot honey and bbq. It was gone before we knew it and we wanted more. Great wings, fried and tender. The buffalo was spicy but not the traditional just tossed in buffalo sauce, there was other spices on it that were great, the bbq was solid a good solid bbq sauced wing, and the hot honey stole the show. Sweet spicy goodness. Everything came with carrots and celery. We also ordered fries. Those were the thinky sliced but fried for a great crunch to softness ratio. Salt and pepper only but overall really good. My only knock to give which I'll still give 5 stars but it was a bit of a pain trying to figure out was the blue cheese and ranch dilemma. We ordered both obviously for a big party and there were smily faces in marker on them. We couldnt tell which was which so we had to spend time opening each trying to figure out whether or not it was ranch or blue cheese.

When you walk in, you walk to the counter and order your food. You are given a number and you can pick a seat. We both ordered the dark meat chicken plate with collard greens and Mac and cheese. The chicken was PIPING HOT! Literally burned my fingers. Surprisingly it was seasoned well and very crispy Greens needed salt but they were good. The Mac and cheese was not good at all. The star of the meal was the biscuit. I wanted another one I had a spiked strawberry lemonade and it was really good! I would definitely eat here again

We visited The Local Market because we kept hearing they had "the best Cuban in Destin." After…read moreeating there, I honestly do not understand the hype at all. First off, this is not a real Cuban sandwich. The bread was completely wrong. Real Cuban bread, especially if you've ever had one from Ybor City in Tampa, has a very specific texture and press. I even explained before ordering that I only wanted the outside pressed and toasted, while the inside stays cool. That's how an authentic Cuban is made. Instead, they brought out a sandwich that was heated completely through. The meat, cheese, everything inside was hot. It completely ruined the sandwich. When I politely asked about it, the employee seemed irritated and had an attitude about remaking it. They eventually brought another one out, but honestly it still was not good. The bread tasted wrong and the sandwich itself just wasn't enjoyable. It got worse from there. My grandson ordered chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were bad, and the fries tasted like old grease that should have been changed hours earlier. My wife ordered a shredded chicken and cheese sandwich that honestly smelled questionable, like the chicken may have been turning. The final straw was the fruit cup having visible mold growing in it. At that point we lost our appetite and decided to leave. Very disappointing experience overall. Poor food quality, bad execution, and not worth the money. We will not be returning.
