I stumbled on Dat Burrito a few years ago when vacationing with my family. We wanted something that was a quick to go option with reasonable prices. Dat Burrito had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is in a busy shopping center in the heart of Destin. It is just north of 98 and west of the 293 bringing you over the bridge. You are going to be near this location at some point in your vacation so keep it on your radar. You do have to be actively looking for it as it is a pretty unassuming building. The food is a mixture of standard Mexican fare (e.g. tacos, burritos etc.). You can eat in store, or get it to take away. There isn't much ambiance, so this is definitely more of a "to go" type place. I would note there is a great toppings bar in the store that you should take advantage of even if you are getting a to go order. Man old man where do I begin? Place #2 on our Destin visit and another winner. Plenty of parking right out front and you file in on the left and order at the register. They then provide you a number and bring drinks and food to you as it becomes available. It's a typical fast food style experience but all the food was very very good. They also have beer and margaritas. The margaritas were ok and the beer was beer, so excellent! We had barría and fish tacos, a burrito with French fries in it, as well as steak bowl (awesome). We got a side of queso and it was a really nice size serving.they had a variety of salsas available to grab as needed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The burrito was a solid portions, but flavor wise, nothing special. For me it lacked seasoning. I also would have loved the fries inside to be cooked more crispy to give it some texture and maybe some cilantro and diced onion for some extra flavor. The shrimp taco was pretty solid and the small salsa bar help save the day. The place was clean and tidy. Would recommend and would go again. The food was good, as was the service. The front cashier was very sweet and professional. What dampens all of the experience is the lack of transparency on the price. The owner has one price on the menu board and another price when they ring you up. If you ask why the price is different they point to a very small sign that says the prices on the menu board are cash only. This is very dishonest. What would have been a great experience was damaged by an owner who hides their real prices. Most people pay with cards not cash, so use the price on your board that 90% of people are going to pay.
