Went with spouse to First Watch in Chesapeake this morning 8-14-24. We were tried to get in several months ago on a weekend. line too long. We made it in mid week and was just so so. We wanted to give them another try before putting them on our DON'T BRING VISITORS HERE list. Today, everything was quick and very good tasting. I had the biscuit, turkey sausage gravy 2 eggs and home fries. Coffee was hot and good tasting. Food came out quickly and was hot. I needed a bit more gravy, and our server said that she would warm some up and bring more. Spouse had a bowl with scrambled eggs, home fries, tomatoes, spinach etc. I finished all but some of the potatoes, Spouse brought half home, and will add some sausage when rewarming. Food sure looks good but none of the utensils I requested were included so not sure how they expect me to eat it. Note to self to break the seal and validate everything is inside before I leave. Now I have to find a fork so I can eat my lunch as I'm not going back. I love to see Chesapeake on the come up! This place is popular at the moment so expect a wait, especially if you're going during the weekend. Ended up sitting at the bar, service was kind of slow, but I think she was multitasking going from the bar to the back. The pomegranate sunrise is a must try! Almost put me to sleep. Solid 4 stars. Pretty good breakfast menu, a little upscale, a little relaxed. I was craving scrambled eggs and grits and First Watch didn't disappoint. My daughter got the Elevated Egg sandwich and she said it was amazing. Had avocado on it, I would've never put egg and avocado together but she claims it to be "bussin," whatever that means (not even sure if I spelled "bussin" correctly). Top it off, we each got a "Morning Mediterranean Fresh Juice" and that hit the spot. In fact, I got a second one to go. Topped it off with a fresh biscuit. Legit. First breakfast in Virginia and we found the right place!! We just happened to pass by and noticed First Watch, which is very cute from the outside. Inside, it's even cuter. They did a great job with decor and branding. For a restaurant that has only been opened for a few months, they have it running smoothly! We came on a Friday morning around 8:30am and we were sat immediately. Our server was very nice.. wish I caught her name. We asked for suggestions since everything on the menu sounded good and we went with two of the things that she mentioned; the Bacado (bacon and avocado) omelette & the Biscuits and Gravy. We noticed that everything is served somewhat healthy, compared to many other breakfast joints. Examples: omelette served with greens, breakfast potatoes weren't fried, toast was seeded and wheat, sausage was made with turkey! First Watch has always been a solid choice when it comes to breakfast or brunch food. Of course for this side of the water, Va Beach has been the spot to go to. I'm glad there's another choice in Chesapeake. I came within 3 weeks of opening and like any new spots, there's still some things they need to iron out. The food however is still as good. Service here was inattentive and missed things like water and didn't check back in after taking orders. From a food standpoint there are minimal expectations from a breakfast place like this but one of them is to be able to properly cook eggs. To my dismay the Benedict that I ordered had eggs that were absolutely hammered. The key component to a Benedict is the runny poached egg, but unfortunately here they seem to serve them hard boiled. read more

This has become on of my go to breakfast spot. Their service is great even in a busy restaurant. The menu is diverse and give you plenty of options. The decor is cute and restaurant is clean. My first visit here and will not be my last. I am not a big breakfast person however I've heard amazing things and I was not disappointed!! We came around noon and the wait was not bad. Doug (Manager) was awesome enough to open the outdoor section for my husband and I and I am now currently writing this review from the sunniest spot in the place!!! The restaurant itself is clean and organized and well lit. Definitely a very European set up with the open space and outdoor seating. Our waitress Michelle was amazing and friendly and was on top of anything we could need! I ordered the Monterey Club and Cobb Salad both were phenomenal! The bacon was cooked to perfection for the sandwich and the avocados were perfect in the salad. My husband ordered the works and it came with a side of toast and jelly that was again phenomenal. We also got an order of the Fresh seasoned potatoes and they were even better than mine!!! I had a mimosa as well which again was delicious and I love how they serve water!! This is my new #1 breakfast spot in the area and I'm not even a breakfast person!! Their breakfast and sandwiches are second to none and I can't wait to go back!! Typically First Watch is a staple for me and I come here about 1-2 times a month. This location is new for me, as my husband and I just moved to Chesapeake very recently. We came here for brunch on a Sunday and I used the app to get in line. Waited about 30 minutes after checking in. We ordered quickly, as we had plenty of time to decide what to eat. Not sure if I've ever noticed before at other locations, but the coffee here just wasn't great. My Farmhouse hash was extremely too salty and it arrived cold. Our waitress maybe checked on us once just after dropping off our drinks. She wasn't the one to bring our food out, so it felt very "get in, get out" to us. Not really sure if I'll be back to this location, though may try again on a weekday when there are less crowds. read more

Just landed from my flight and I'm starving! My family and I decided to stop here for some breakfast and this place is busy, busy the wait was over an hour there's a bench in front you can sit on and a bench inside where you can also sit while you wait however we waited in the car. The line grew as we sat there we also noticed at this time they weren't seating anyone outside at all and it was beautiful out. Once we finally got seated we sat in a booth inside was nice and spacious. For Drinks we got coffee which was so necessary after traveling, my daughter got an apple juice and my brother got a watermelon wake up.. My brother got a I did want to try a cocktail however we kept it simple for this time around. For our meal my daughter got a pancake which is a large size however it was very crispy she ate about half of it I tasted it and though it was just alright she got this with a side of bacon. I got the French toast with pecans and Bananas it was very good and a side of seasoned potatoes they were also good . My mother got million dollar bacon which my daughter pretty much stole from her they said it was very good I do not eat meat so I could not try but from the look of it has a good amount of seasoning on it.. She also got the waffles and a side of grits and cheese. She enjoyed her food as this wasn't her and my brothers first time being here she said the food is always good. Brunch was served at its finest today. Everything made fresh, with flavors that were well described in the menu. I tried to find something to complain about but couldn't find anything in any of the foods ordered. As far as service goes our waitress was very upfront, funny, and came with recommendations for our order. She was also very quick to serve us whatever we needed or wanted, couldn't thank her enough. As always, with First Watch expect this place to be packed so you'll be waiting for some time. Service at the bar was excellent on all three of my visits. This place runs a wait often, so be prepared. First visit I tried the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes which were AMAZING but it is a huge dish. I wish you could get a single. Second visit I had the classic benedict, which is not classic in that it is served with ham on baguette instead of with Canadian bacon on english muffin. The eggs were cooked PERFECTLY and the hollandaise was lemony and delicious. The lemon dressed greens were not great, get the potatoes. Third visit was a weekday but I still sat at the bar. Each time I treated myself to the wonderful Bloody Mary, served in a pint glass. This time it was garnished with a slice of million dollar bacon, which was not for me. My meal was a special beef chaiquilles bowl, too salty for me but a good concept made with quality ingredients. Overall this is a great place with wonderful service. Go knowing it is going to be busy and that means a wait for a table, wait for your food and a noisy dining room. read more

We keep coming back hoping that this place would improve, but sadly not. We went for my birthday for breakfast and had put our name on the list. We were seated immediately to a sticky table that wobbled. We sat for over 10 minutes being totally ignored. No one came by to get a our drink order or to tell us someone will be with us soon. Others around us were sending their food back to the kitchen because it was undercooked (raw waffles!) We continued to wait and wait. We tried to get a servers attention. My friend and I decided to head to Greenbriar today for brunch and shopping, and we decided on First Watch for the brunch. Unfortunately, my food did not come out hot, but the flavor of my BLT Benedict was very tasty. It had a nice lemon zest to it. She also commented the same on her dish temperature wise. New favorite breakfast/brunch spot in Chesapeake! The drinks and food were SO good. I liked the drink so much that I ordered one to-go! The picture was about halfway through my meal. It was a very solid portion of food, and the bacon platter was enough for two people. I actually really enjoyed the light lemon vinaigrette on the greens. I was worried that there may be too much kale in the omelette, but it was the perfect amount! The price was so affordable! I think my meal was roughly $30 for an entree, 2 mocktails, and an appetizer. This season speciality drink was the Watermelon Wake Up. Very refreshing! I get my usual Farmhouse Market breakfast bowl. I usually say no tomatoes but this time I kept it in! I added spinach in but the cooks did not put spinach in. Can't blame it on short staffing because there are loads of staff loitering around. Definitely not focused on customer service at this location. We had put ourselves on the waiting list for this place via the app. They texted us and told us our table was ready. When we get there, there is no organization. You do not know where to stand to show them you were notified and like several people kept cutting in front of us. I got the traditional breakfast. I ordered over easy eggs, bacon, English muffin and potatoes. The potatoes were salty and over cooked and under cooked at the same time. Didn't think that was possible to do but here we are. The over easy was over medium and the bacon was over cooked. The English muffin was the best thing I had on my plate. I am gonna try and give this place another chance but I will try the location on Lynnhaven and see if that one is better. The place was clean. read more

I am so happy that First Watch came to Chesapeake ! I've tried the one in VB my first time & it was a decent experience. Something about this new location, I really loved. Located in the Greenbrier area. This place usually is busy so I highly suggest joining the waitlist online. I've ordered a few items & drinks on the menu & every single one was delicious! Everything tasted fresh from the eggs to the veggies, potatoes & the drinks. The waitress were still attentive even though they were very busy. The prices were average mostly around $11-15 for a meal. This is probably my new go-to brunch spot. read more

Been to a few First Watch locations and this was typical of most locations. This location was very nice with lots of windows to view the outside. My wife and I almost always order the same thing every time. She gets the avocado toast and I get the smoked salmon Benedict. She enjoyed her avocado toast very much but I thought the salmon Benedict was rather bland for some reason. The smoked salmon didn't have much flavor and the hollandaise wasn't that tasty either. The potatoes were fine, but I've had better. The service was good although between ordering and getting our meal the server disappeared for awhile when we wanted to order water. read more
