But to add to everything, it was such a great experience because of their unique Filipino sweet bread with the ABU yeah that they put in all their baked goods and even their coffee! It's a great place for your "average" Coffee... And an even greater place for something unique, refreshing, and totally different in the best way! This is my 3rd time getting coffee here so I could give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just don't understand why their coffee tasted like nothing. There's no coffee taste whatsoever but milk and the syrup flavor. My first visit was the worst where I literally felt like I paid about $7 for a cup of hot water which I had to dump it out after couple slips, and I thought I'd give them another shot since I thought they legitimately made a mistake like they forgot to replace the ground coffee or push the wrong button on their espresso machine? My second visit was okay like nothing about my coffee stood out or disappointed, but during my latest/ third visit, I'm totally done getting "coffee" here. My mocha tasted straight up like hot milk. It was better than my first visit but there's still no coffee taste, and I had to dumb it out cuz I wanted real coffee. While the staff was friendly and service was quick, ultimately the coffee from a cafe is my main focus of my rating. read more

Since the cafe was celebrating its 2nd anniversary there was a DJ and a food truck. The music selection was great and wasn't too loud. Hard to believe that it took me this long to visit Project Seed's newest location. We did a Saturday morning drop in for coffee and were rewarded with a delicious White Chocolate Pistachio Latte (seasonal flavor) and a Turon Signature Latte. We couldn't resist adding an Ube Ensaymada and an Ube Pandesal with Cream Cheese & Halaya to our dine-in order. Both hot lattes were full of flavor. The baked goods were fresh and warm, making the visit extra special. We loved how easy it was to find parking and how much bigger this location is. The latte was just okay, not really my favorite but the Spanish bread was really good. I truly wish I enjoyed the coffee and pastries here but I did not. My sister brought us here this morning for a last minute get together for my birthday. She raves about the cafe, I had such high hopes. First, as soon as I walked into the cafe it smelled like a mix of wet dog and coffee. I don't blame the cafe for this, since when I left I saw that their neighbors were a vets office and I assume the smell was coming from that side. There were no animals in the establishment at the time. The ordering process was easy, their menu is fairly small and the young woman behind the register was nice to explain anything, very patient. I got the Buko Pandan with Ube cold foam, the ube cold foam was so yummy, but I wasn't a fan of the base. It was super cute though! Then I purchased the ube with cream cheese, I was sad that I also didn't like this either, the center was good but I wasn't a fan of the actual bun itself. Seriously super bummed about this because what girl wants to be disappointed on their birthday. Overall 3.5/5 for me but I didn't want to give a lower score since my sister truly loves this place, it was just not a good choice for me today. So I rounded my score up. read more

Soft opening today and the new spot is amazing. The owner Erene was there to greet us with a smile as we walked in. The building is clean, roomie, and designed for gathering with friends or buckling down for a business meeting. You can definitely get some work done and enjoy the bright light shining through the large windows while sipping your coffee. I got to try the Miso Caramel Latte as a special. It was very unique and delicious, just the right amount of sweetness. I also enjoyed the moist longaniza biscuit. Visiting from out of town and this was my second time here. We usually enjoy the iced Ube latte and iced Buko pandan but my second visit the vibe was just off with the workers. Drinks were good but the Gen Z's working here gave me this stare of I'm an idiot for not knowing what I wanted when I walked in. They weren't very enthusiastic or friendly, felt cold to me and it made my visit unpleasant. I asked what the difference was from Ube velvet and their Ube halo halo special but he didn't even know. I wished their door wasn't so hard to open and hold. I had 2 drinks in a drink holder and 3 pastries in a box. Juggling to hold all that while trying to open the heavy door was hard. I saw a vendor "Jack Eats" selling items while waiting for my order and I'm glad I got to try them. That Ube brownie was so divine. Yum yum yum!!! Always a treat to pop in and try something new. I hot one of their specials the Samosa cookie latte and I got brown sugar cold foam on top. Love it! I like to be able to taste the coffee in my drinks and even though you think this would be crazy sweet,, its not its just the right balance. But the better surprise was the biscoff Ensaymada. Don't let the outside looks fool you it may look like a cupcake but it is not, the texture is so different. Its light and fluffy and pulls apart so nicely. It was so good it was gone in a blink of an eye. I think i'll have to nab this everytime i see it in the bakery case from now on it was just that good! Service is always a delight everyone is so friendly inside, plus the new space is definitely a plus as there is more seating so the community can come in and enjoy each other's company or enjoy a spot to get some work done. This place is soooo cute! I love the decor inside and how they have popup of local shops in the area. I got the ube velvet ice latte which is DIVINE. My husband and I stumbled upon this cafe, while we were on a hunt for coffee, one weekend. A quick Yelp search on what's nearby and voila! Found this quaint, and cozy cafe! I never had Ube in my coffee, so I went all out and ordered the Ube Velvet Latte with pandan cold foam. Why not? Being Southeast Asian, I grew up eating pandan desserts, but as a cold foam? That's new and interesting! I LOVE IT! The Ube Velvet Latte with pandan cold foam, is now one of my fave drinks. The Ube adds a velvety texture and most importantly, it's not too sweet (iykyk). I also ordered the Ube Pandesal (love). My husband had a cold brew and a brownie, which he enjoyed. The staff was so friendly, even though it was busy . We received our drinks in less than 10minutes. A cute little shop serving up Filipino-inspired treats and beverages and a cute little retail space as well. While staying in VA beach, we came here one morning for coffee and treats. I got the iced Ube Latte made with coconut milk it had a really nice flavor- hint of the earthy sweet Ube, and was not sickeningly sweet at all, it was the perfect balance of sweet and coffee-bitter. I also ordered the Spanish Ube bread which was a small soft purple roll with a swirl of a Ube sugar mix throughout- delicious especially warmed up. I loved Project Seed for years but just had to update my new opinion of the new location. Obviously, the classic drinks remain. I picked up a calamansi to go. So yum! I also got a new menu item - the miso Carmel latte, iced, per owner Erene's suggestion. I LOVED it. I got to chat with the owners, Erene and Brantley for just a few minutes, as I came after a rush where a ton of seats were filled, but there was no one behind me for a few minutes as they made my coffee and got the calamansi. They're such interesting and genuine people. It feels like family when you're there. The ambiance to the new location is just so Filipino in the coolest way. I'm not Filipino nor have I ever been to the Philippines, but the inclusive representation makes you feel like you're a part of it. Love the map on the wall. The decor. Everything. I also have to mention their pop up shops. Here's where this place goes above and beyond. Erene has taken it upon herself to bring everyone up with her on her climb to becoming the best coffee shop I know. They host pop ups of so many other up-and-coming artists, makers, creatives and bakers. She features people of color. She features women. She elevates everyone around her and while I'm not a creative or baker or artist or maker, I feel as if I've been elevated and lifted up a notch just by hanging out in this space. She's said a bunch of times that her "project seed" is to plant seeds in people's hearts and lives and spread the message of hope and Jesus. I think that's what makes this place so special. It was special in their first location. It was special when Erene was just a modern day milk (wo)man and it continues to flourish and thrive bc the people working there and the people it's attracting are just on a different level. We are from Charleston, South Carolina and were in the Virginia Beach area last weekend. My wife and I stumbled upon this place randomly after the gym Saturday morning. When I Googled local coffee shops this was the first place that popped up so we went. We didn't even read any of the reviews we just decided to go and give it a chance. We had no idea or even a clue that this was a Filipino owned and inspired coffee shop which made our visit even better. MABUHAY! My favorite place to get coffee when I'm in VB. I am a big fan of anything UBE. I am also a fan of the pop ups that show up often! I got an americano, with a bit of Ube flavor. I'm not going to lie it was very watery which took away from the flavor. I also ordered the pork bao bun and the Ube cinnamon roll. The pork bao bun never misses! The Ube cinnamon roll was so disappointing there wasn't enough icing. It also didn't have the consistency of a cinnamon roll. It wasn't soft with a gooey center, it was the texture of subway bread. The staff is always very helpful and service was fast! There are places to sit and enjoy your coffee, I took mine to go and on the way out I visited "Gingersweets" stand I love trying new things! We stopped in today as part of our local coffee passport adventure and discovered this sweet little gem slightly tucked away from the main roads. The shop itself is very small but incredibly cozy -- a great spot to sip a drink and get lost in a book. I ordered their current special called Ube Halo Halo, a unique UBE-inspired cold brew with coconut milk and almond milk. It had great texture and flavor, and I could definitely taste the coconut -- maybe even a hint of chocolate. I'd rate the drink a solid 8.5 out of 10! The owner was so kind and welcoming. She greeted me right when I walked in and was understanding when I asked if it was okay to film part of my livestream. She kindly requested that I avoid filming two customers who didn't want to be on camera -- which I completely respect and appreciate the heads-up. The only downside for us personally is that the shop isn't dog-friendly. As a dog mom who loves including my pup in all our adventures, this was a little disappointing -- though I understand it wasn't the coffee shop owner's choice. The building owner doesn't allow dogs inside, which meant my pup had to sit this one out in the car. The drink was made in about 4 minutes and it was absolutely amazing! I loved the Ube flavor with the coffee as it was the perfect amount of sweetness to the drink. The pandan foam was easily the best part of the drink, not only was the color visually cool, but the flavor of the coconut and vanilla was just spot on! When you come inside, it's like being at home. You are welcomed with a smile, especially from Ms. Erene. Ms. Erene is the owner of the establishment and one of the founders of Mabuhay 757. This place also hosts small business pop ups which I think is awesome for the community. My favorite drink is their signature Ube Velvet Latte and it's even better with the cold foam!
