Project Seed Coffee is a coffee house is highly recommend to my friends, family, and co-workers. This location is on the side of Historical Kempsville in a small brick building. When you come inside, it's like being at home. You are welcomed with a smile, especially from Ms. Erene. Ms. Erene is the owner of the establishment and one of the founders of Mabuhay 757. This place also hosts small business pop ups which I think is awesome for the community. My favorite drink is their signature Ube Velvet Latte and it's even better with the cold foam! I'm conflicted. I usually get Project Seed Coffee when they are at events and festivals. So it comes bottled. It is fantastic. Here is my conflict. I have gone to the main coffee shop where they reside and have gotten the same drinks but they are making them fresh. They have NO flavor. The other day I bought 2 drinks. Totally different flavor profiles and my husband and myself said they both tasted the same. It taste like sweet coffee with no flavor profile that I picked. So I wonder why the big difference. I am so bummed because I would have given 5 stars if I just get the bottled. Seems like when they are making it in house the quality control is just not there. But the bottled drinks are fantastic. I hope they will get the fresh drinks tasting as good as the bottled. They are a small coffee shop and they hold events here sometimes. There was a running club and the line was about 15 people deep. I stood in line while my friend held 2 chairs for us to sit in. I am glad she is getting all that business. I just want good coffee. If I see them out and about I will get the bottled but until they can make the fresh coffee with the flavor profiles they are off my list of coffee shops read more

Project Seed Coffee is a Filipino-owned coffee shop that started as a pop-up until they opened their coffee shop a couple of months ago. They serve Americano and Cappuccino coffees, but my favorites are their unique coffees, such as Salted Egg Yolks and Ube Velvet. Ambiance: The coffee shop promotes both Filipino and Virginia Beach culture. I love how they incorporate both cultures in their decorations. Drinks/Foods: Salted Egg Yolk Latte - Rich and Flavorful. It tastes like custard Spanish Bread - aka Señorita Bread. The bread has butter filling inside. Ube Bread--This bread has an ube spread filling. I love that it has a good amount of ube, but the bread is too thick for my liking. It's perfect for ube lovers. Service: Everyone was nice and friendly. After an earlier visit, I couldn't wait to go back to Project Seed for more of their awesome offerings. How surprised I was when I walked in and Erene greeted me by my name after just one previous visit. That's terrific customer service & a great way to generate a loyal following. She is very friendly, pleasant & welcoming. It's an inviting & happy atmosphere. The store specializes in Craft Specialty Coffee, many with Filipino flavors. In addition to the wide variety of coffee choices you'll also find baked goods & merchandise such as cold brew cups, mugs, shirts & other goodies. A cooler contains "to go" containers of Cold Brew. If your favorite flavor isn't there then Erene will prepare one for you. The Bakery goods are absolutely "to die for". I'm addicted to the Purple Ube Spanish Bread. I took two home with me for breakfast the next two days. When they were gone I felt like going into mourning. They also offer Spanish Bread, Cookies, Chocolate Chip Muffins, Ensaymada, Ube Pandesal (yummy) and Longganisa & Cheddar Biscuits. My drink choice was the Ube Cold Brew. It was absolutely delicious, my favorite so far. The taste was light but flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness for my taste buds. My previous choice of the Salted Egg Yolk Cold Brew was also yummy. Project Seed has inspired my quest to visit every Filipino Bakery in town & discover other items that are Ube based. The location is the south side of Princess Anne Road, just west of its intersection with Kempsville Road. A direct turn off Princess Anne Road isn't possible because of the layout of the rerouted pathway of Princess Anne Road. When coming from the west on Princess Ann Road turn right on Oaksmere then a quick right on Lord Dunmore. Wind your way back to the to the building. The Project Seed entrance is on the east side of the lower level with easy parking access near the entrance. If you approach from the east a u-turn will be required to approach from the west. The building itself was a beautiful 18th Century two story home that stood in the pathway of the Princess Anne Road widening & rerouting. The project was planned to improve the traffic flow at its intersection with Kempsville Road. I remember well when the home was moved to its current location to save it. It was very surprising to see a 3rd level added beneath the historic home. Although still beautiful, the addition took away the 18th Century character, so easily recognized in our historic city. Project Seed Coffee is one of the cutest, coffee shops in the area. Since I've followed the journey of this awesome business on social media, I knew I had to stop in and support. I was quickly greeted by the friendly staff and asked for some coffee recommendations. I was very intrigued with the Salted Eggyolk Signature Latte flavor, which they confirmed didn't include egg yolk, but tasted more like a custard. I was told it went very well with the vanilla foam so I was sold. The shop also offers treats and I couldn't help but try the Ube Spanish Bread. My first review and I couldn't have picked a better place to start! Project Seed is an amazing coffee place to just relax, get some work done, and drink a refreshing cup of coffee! I've been pretty familiar with Project Seed, they delivered to our area, so if you weren't in the mood for making your own cup of coffee you already had it there waiting for you in your fridge. I ended up getting their Ube | Purple Yam Cold Brew Coffee and it's absolutely delicious. It's vibrant purple color, and the smooth texture of the coffee makes it even more delicious! Aside from getting their coffee, I got their Ube Ensaymada. The Ube Ensaymada is a light pastry that is of course, the Ube swirled into the pastry, and had the perfect sweetness. Their prices are very reasonable, with their Signature Lattes being $6.50+, Cold Brews $5.50+. Their Bottled Cold Brews are $5.50+. I'm excited to see Project Seed Coffee now has a store open for my coffee fix! From being at local markets to front door delivery, you can now get coffees, latte, desserts and more! Off of Princess Anne Rd close to the Kempsville Rd intersection, you will find Project Seed. There's plenty of parking and seating inside to do some work. I love the coffee flavors that highlight's Filipino flav like ube and pandan. Also the dessert follows the same Asian sentiment with ube pie, matcha cookie and Thai Tea cupcakes. I just found out Project Seed had a new coffee shop in the area, so i stopped by. They're located off Princess Anne Rd in one of the brick buildings thats part of Historic Kempsville, right before you enter the neighborhood. When i walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff. Erene and i chatted for a second while i waited on my coffee. Shes really sweet and friendly. I tried her cold brew samples at a previous event, and enjoyed them. They were unique flavors and tasty. I got the ube coldbrew with ube coldfoam. It looked pretty in the cup how it was layered. It was smooth and creamy with a nice kick. I went home and cleaned for 2 hours after drinking it... Lol. I was lit. I am not a daily coffee drinker, so it put some pep in my step for sure.. Lol. The drink was about $9, which is fine. I do wish the cup was a little bigger. I would certainly get it again. They had merchandise for sale, other coffee drinks, and different breads, like ube spanish bread. It looked good and was vibrant purple. The cupcakes looked good also. It was time for a repeat to this small spot for some coffee and treats. The 1st time I was here was back in May for a Yelp Elite event. Their salted egg yolk iced coffee with Ube foam was pretty good. For this round, it was just me with Sophia having other plans. Jack Eats, a pretty popular company on the Southside, was here on site for pop-ups. So you know I had to be here and catch up on things :) Upon entering the coffee shop, which is quite small, the owner, Erene, had us separated by 5 people at a time who were standing in line for Jack Eats. This right here was organized just right and reminded me of the days when they had their pop-up in Selden Market. Fun times indeed. I even ran into fellow Yelper Ryan H. and her boyfriend catching up on what's going on in Hampton Roads. In the meantime, Erene told us that if we wanted to order, we could go online through Door Dash and they'll bring it right to you. Guess who did that right after??? I selected a hot caramel latte along with an Ube Ensaymada, both which hit the spot. The latte was brewed just right, and the treat wasn't too sweet. It was actually pretty warm when they delivered to me in line. And of course, I ordered a good number of treats from Jack Eats for both Sophia and me. You know you can't leave with just one. The espresso, the basis for their drinks, is horrid. I don't think the people who run the machine drink espresso. If they did, they'd make something drinkable. The cappuccino has a small amount of espresso, more on par with a ristretto, which should make it super sweet, but isn't, is topped with a very large amount of scalded milk. The extraction looked great, nice and drippy, syrupy, but it tasted way under roasted, like hay. To add insult to injury, they over steamed the milk. They burned the sweetness out of it. I then ordered a double shot of espresso so I had something more than a large cup of hot, scalded milk. The cashier asked, so you want 4 shots? Shocked again. No, 2 shots. Double shot as in double, as in 2. As long as it's double the amount of ground coffee and not more water run thru the same small basket (lungo). I don't get how this place has good reviews or stays in business. I don't think the people running the espresso machine are trained or even like coffee. Maybe they hate coffee and dislike milk but fill it with copious amounts of sugar and think it's good? As to the atmosphere, they have the coffee pick up near the door and the ordering at the far end of the counter. Maybe they did that so if a line forms it doesn't block the door? Place is very loud. They need a white noise generator or sound baffles. Went to meet a buddy to catch up. We couldn't hear each other. The place amplifies sound. You can do deaf in there. We left the nasty coffees and stood outside in the cold to talk, if that gives you an idea of how bad this place is. If you like coffee, avoid this place like the plague. I get why a friend from South America told me to open a coffee shop in the 90s before there was a starbucks here. People here don't know what coffee should taste like. Maybe I should expand my consultant biz to coffee shops or open a biz and put everyone else out of biz. Then again, it'd probably fail as people love sugar and scalded milk instead of good coffee. read more

Project Seed Coffee is a delightful spot with a unique and inviting atmosphere. I would have never thought that area would have a hidden Filipino inspired Coffee Shop. We ordered the pandan and ube lattes with the spanish breads & the flavors complemented each other perfectly. The ube latte was on the sweeter side but still enjoyable, with the coffee taste present but slightly overpowered by the sweet ube flavor. Despite the line, the cute interior and ample seating makes the wait worthwhile. There's a small area to purchase local Filipino products, adding to the charm. I used to follow the owner to farmers markets whenever she was at one, so it's pretty nice that she has a shop now! The salted egg yolk custard will forever be my favorite. I tried the miso caramel but I personally didn't like it. (Doesn't mean you won't) The barista was very kind and asked me if I wanted something else, but I didn't take her offer because it was nothing they did wrong at all, just a personal preference :). I was really excited last year to find that a local coffee shop was opening within 5 minutes of my home. I'd been searching for a comfortable coffee shop where I could spend an afternoon sipping and reading. Project Seed is so unique - incredibly inspired flavors, friendly baristas, game to try suggestions (the recent limited Fluffernutter Latte was based on a Facebook request!). When they made the announcement that they were planning to move, I was a little sad and hoped that they wouldn't move further away, but stop in on any Saturday and you'll see that it's evident that more space is sorely necessary - they were busy and space was a bit tight, but they also served everyone quickly and efficiently. I backed their Kickstarter and hoped for the best. Turns out: they are moving *even closer* to my home! I am so excited to help support them in this endeavor and can't wait to see what they do with the space. My recommendation: get the cold ube latte with the pandan foam. It is SO good. My partner and I jokingly call it Beetlejuice Coffee because of the colors, but it's wonderfully yummy. He usually goes for the ube pandesal, while I'm an ensaymada fan. This past weekend, I grabbed some ube and pandan cold brew from the fridge to have this week, and both have been amazingly tasty. 100% highly recommend Project Seed. I have always loved Project Seed, and I am so happy they now have a physical location. It's a cute lil house. My husband got the buko pandan latte which was delicious and tasted just like it is named. I had the ube latte with cheese foam, and it was yummy. I like having the cheese option! But I do wish the ube flavor was stronger. The longanisa scone was SO GOOD. The flavors of herbs was perfect. Nothing was too overwhelming. The service was great, they were all so kinda and helpful. Tried them for the first time today and had very high hopes but tbh it was disappointing. Ube cold brew had zero flavor of the ube and pandan had barely a hint of pandan flavor to it . It lacked flavor and all you could taste was the coffee. Also tried the iced salted yolk latte and that too lacked flavor. It just tasted like straight up coffee. I am Filipino and a transplant from California ( I am used to having a lot of good local roasters ), the owner ensures the coffee beans are fresh, they are sourced from local roaster who respects the process of coffee roasting, they serve quality coffee and a little flair of Filipino flavors that we are used to from home, bit does not take away from the flavor notes of the coffee beans. Yum yum yum! From a girl who drinks coffee maybe 2-3x a month, this cold brew was so good I could've drank it every day. I bought this cold brew at the Farmer's Market at Oozelfinch. I was indecisive, and the owners had sample cups so I could taste the vanilla bean and the ube. I decided to go with the Ube as it gave fall vibes and was something different to try. I appreciated the vendor being on the opposite side of the tunnel as I've been wanting to try their cold brew based on reviews from individuals on social media. I have been seeing this place a lot online lately, but I finally tried this place out yesterday w/ my friend's recommendation. I have now been here 2 days in a row. Yesterday, I ordered an iced matcha w/ ube cold foam, longganisa + cheddar biscuit, ube spanish bread, and pepperoni bread. I originally wanted to try the roasted matcha, but drink was still sooo tasty. My boyfriend and I got everything to go, and let me tell you, the longganisa + cheddar biscuit was amazing alone but paired with an over-medium egg!? I wish whoever made it was at my house cooking me breakfast every morning. The ube spanish bread had amazing texture, very flavorful, not too sweet, but also satisfied my sweet tooth. My boyfriend ordered 2 of the pepperoni bread and only let me have about 4 bites. All good enough to have me come back the next day. Today, I had the sweet lady who also helped me yesterday pick my drink. I really wanted to try one of their signature beverages but couldn't decide which. She had the pumpkin maple spice (seasonal) w/ maple cold foam made for me, and I am so sad at how short it lasted. Starbucks could never. I ordered for pick up at the Oozlefinch Farmers Market as I'm up in Williamsburg and there's no local delivery to this side of the water - but you lucky cold brew coffee lovers who live in Norfolk, VB, and Chesapeake, y'all get a modern milkman (or rather an awesome milkwoman) offering incredible flavors in her creations and local delivery right to your doorsteps. Ordering online is easy, and seamless, and the customer service provided is fast, helpful, and cheerful. Here's the thing. I'm an ube aficionado, so obviously the ube cold brew flavor is my favorite. The Iced Ube Cold Brew with Ube Foam and Iced Ube Velvet Latte with Ube Foam from Project Seed Coffee had the best flavors, and they weren't too sweet (I don't like very sweet drinks).
