Sugar cookie
China B.

We have an event coming up here. So i decided to drop by and check them out beforehand. Its in a shopping center close to Sharetea. I couldn't find it at first, but there's a sign in the window if you look for it. Its a cute little bakery with a few tables to hang out at. The owner is a very nice lady with a welcoming smile. Very friendly!!! She answered my questions and told me what she had baked for the day. She had sugar cookies, scones, strawberry jam cake, and a few other things. I came for the ube cake, but she didn't have any on this day. So you should definitely call first if you're looking for something in particular. I got a sugar cookie. They were only a dollar which was right up my alley, so i got another. She had her son bring one from the back. My only complaint was he brought the cookie out with his bare hands. No gloves or with a tissue!! He was wearing a backpack so idk if he was just outside or what he had been doing, so that small moment did bother me... Because it just wasn't sanitary. But i know it was a simple mistake so i got over it. I prayed over that cookie in hopes that his hands were clean.. Lol... Please Lord. That's my only complaint. I do hope she'll fix this one issue. She has vegan and gluten free options as well i think she mentioned.. The cookies were crispy and pretty good. Just enough sweetness and reasonably priced. I am gonna return to try the ube cake because the pics did look good. It also smelled good like baked goodies. I love bakery smells. Lol. Check them out!!!

Ube Sponge Cake

Ube is my thing. So when I saw that they had it last week, I got to try it. This Ube Sponge Cake was soft, moist and delectable. I wouldn't know it's GF. The icing was not too sweet and exactly the right umph for this cake. If she makes it again, I will not think twice to get it again. Maybe two slices this time.

Gluten free loaf of bread

So, let me just say that I'm so disappointed I didn't out about this tea room until right before we're about to move to Maryland. Boyfriend is gluten free because it causes inflammation, so we came here after a recommendation on Facebook from the Hampton Roads takeout group. We got there and Donna was taking a call, so we waited a bit before she came to open the shop. Donna is a whirlwind and such a big personality. I love it! She's also very knowledgeable about gluten free basically everything and easy to talk to. We bought two turkey meatball paninis with pasta salad, a loaf of bread, and creamy earl grey tea. The bread for the panini was fresh baked that morning and the panini was put together to order. The same bread she baked was made by her and also gluten free. The whole meal was gluten free as is the tea. I've never had gluten free bread taste this good y'all! Boyfriend has been semi on his own because I'm a carb lover and it's hard, but this will make it easy and we will be ordering from Donna to take with us. I will say it was a little pricey, but gluten free traditionally is but, Donna also does organic and I'm perfectly content with paying for great, quality ingredients that taste great. Definitely go check her out as her food offerings change daily and it all looks so delicious. Do not miss out.

100% Gluten free cafe?! These are far and few to come by. A friend who is also gluten intolerant recommended I check this place out. It's so nice not to have to ask additional questions to decide whether something is going to be safe to eat or not. Ms. Donna the owner was so enjoyable to talk to. She explained how she can do custom made orders and I'm really excited to order some cinnamon rolls. Anyways onnto the food. I decided to sit down in this cozy Cafe and enjoy a Turkey Reuben with no sauerkraut. The homemade gluten free bread was delicious and had the perfect texture. I also got an apple donut, Toffee crunch cookie and chocolate glob to go. Ms. Donna let me know they do different events at the Cafe which sounds so amazing. Also, you don't have to be gf to support. It's small businesses like these that you really see the people put their heart and soul into the food but don't get enough recognition. My panini came with chips and I also got a water. My total was around $20 not bad at all but that did include a 10% discount for being a first time customer. I felt so at home and will be back

Their big Apple panini on gf bread was the best gf sandwhich I've ever had. Their cranberry scone is also amazing. Definitely will be coming back here.

Gluten free chocolate chip cookie

First thing first, the owner is super sweet and very knowledgeable, so you have any question fill free to ask and she is more than welcome to answer and help you out. This was my first time going here by I follow her fb posts a lot and it's a good place to check in first before going just in case she had to close for a bit to grab her son. I grabbed 3 different sweets for Valentine's the chocolate chip cookie which I loved and ate before I drove off in my car. I waited to try the other two till we got to my sisters. We loved the whoopie pie even though the filling is a bit to sweet for my taste but loved the outside layer. The sugar cookie was way to sweet for me but my sisters husband loved it. I definitely want to come back to try one of her lunches she makes. Oh and she is 100% gluten free in her products so no chance of cross contamination

***Writing this review as a member of a group even that was booked here as a venue*** We booked a group event for this location where we hired an artist to do a paint night with our Ladies Group from church. Overall things turned out well and everyone had a good time - with the exception of a few snafus. While booking, we were given two difference prices for the venue + food. The second quote happened when we came back to finalize plans and square up. The second quote was higher than the first, but since we had booked the artist and had RSVP's in-hand, we didn't have much choice. I am also responsible for this, as I should have gotten quote in writing for the use of the venue and provision of food and tea. The second moment at which we ran into an issue was NOT the fault of the owner of TranquiliTea, but more of an issue with the folks she leases from. We were all getting settled in when a landscaper knocked and lets know that though we were parked in designated spots, we needed to move several vehicles so that he could get his truck around the building. Oops! We complied, of course, and things were back in the swing within 10 minutes or so. After that, things went swimmingly! The treats she provided were delightful, she was kind and served tea throughout the duration of our event, and she was happy to do it all. They have a great selection of teas and the environment was very nice. I haven't been in the shop when it is set up fully for tea and retail, but I look forward to returning for a visit!

Erica S.

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a tea shop. I visited TranquiliTea on two different occasions, both of which were within normal operating hours and yet the shop was still closed. Before I attempted on the third occasion I called and the shop was still closed but the owner agreed to meet me at the shop (she had been home with her 15 year old sons that had a cold). The shop is cute and has an open layout, however, the inventory was extremely limited, and all of the teas come prepackaged so that you can't see or smell the leaves. This is odd for a tea shop. Despite my utter disappointment up until this point, it gets worse. I paid $26 for 100g (3.5 ounces) of Earl Grey. For anyone moderately aware of typical tea prices, this is unheard off. A good tea is typically three to four dollars an ounce, her markup put the tea at $9 an ounce. Doesn't end there however, it's really the gift that keeps on giving... when I get back to work to check out this $26 tea, I opened it up and it's a vacuum sealed bag directly from the whole seller!!! I then go online because I have to see just how much this tea was marked up, I create an account online because you don't have to be a business, and see that the exact earl grey I purchased is sold for $16.04 for a 500g bag!!!! I pad $26 for 100g. So essentially it's $3.20 per 100g . So yeah, TranquiliTea is nothing more than a brick and mortar middle man. A hustler, a swindler, a bamboozler... I've been hoodwinked and I'm outraged. For the love of all things good, steer clear, save yourself a trip and either frequent Quintins Tea Emporium in Virginia Beach, or just go to www.jenierteas.com because that the supplier that TranquiliTea uses. This is egregious. A total violation of ethics and common decency. I do not recommend this shop, or agree with the business practices. I'm not sure if there are any laws against markup, I understand that profit must be made and that markups are a part of business, but this type of price gouging has got to be a violation of at least ethics.

Delicious Tea and cake at Donna's Tranquilitea on Centerville Turnpike.

Kara was my server and she struck that perfect balance of warm and friendly without feeling scripted or like she had just completed a corporate training video on "How To Smile At Guests." I ordered a blackberry margarita that isn't even on the menu, and she later came back with genuine curiosity about how it turned out. That kind of attentiveness is rare. The margarita itself was excellent too. Bright blackberry flavor and, thankfully, not drowned in simple syrup like some places seem contractually obligated to do. I ordered the fennel sausage and sweet onion pizza. Worth noting: pizza is half off on Thursdays from 4-9pm and all draft beers are $5, which is a very dangerous combination if you have even a moderate amount of self-control issues. Flavor-wise the pizza was good. The fennel sausage was nicely seasoned and worked well with the sweet onion. The one issue was the cheese. It did not appear to have formed any sort of meaningful attachment to the pizza. Each slice came with what can only be described as a full cheese blanket sliding off the top like a landslide. Not ideal. I'm not sure what the technical pizza science is behind making cheese actually stick, but whatever that step is... it may have been skipped here. Overall though, service was quick and friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the margarita alone was worth the stop. With the Thursday specials, it's an easy place to drop in for a casual dinner.

Their iced praline mocha is soooo good! The right balance of mocha and coffee, not overly sweet but enough to give you a pick me up while enjoying their amazing food! Next time must try their lavender latte or pistachio... but gotta get it before 5/31 as it's available for a limited time! Definitely recommend the brekki bowl with cheese grits and fried chicken! You will not be disappointed. Cheese grits like "buhhhttah" without the oily and maybe the calories?! But honestly, so flavorful and creamy without the guilty feeling for having something that tastes so good. The veggies are fresh and perfectly cooked to give you great texture contrast. And let me tell you about their fried chicken!! Chefs kiss! Moist, flavorful lightly breaded chicken fried to perfection that had a slight kick for this girl. In full disclosure black pepper is spicy for me so take that with a grain of salt. And for those of you like me that believe there is never too much salt and add salt to your salt but need to cut that bad habit... this whole dish is the perfect amount of salt. I literally never had to add just a little more. The goat cheese crumbles gave each bite the little extra tah-dah pop that might have been otherwise gotten had you like me added a few more shakes of salt to the dish. Seriously though, if you are watching to slowly cut back on having to add salt to your food, this dish is for you! The service was great and everyone was friendly and hustling! This place is the best for a quick sit down or a group brunch. I saw a table of like 10 menly bros enjoying a huge selection of food, drinks, and catching up. Really awesome to see that as the next few tables were a mix of families with and without kids, in laws, aunts and uncles just coming together for amazing food, great and accurate service, and overall fantastic experience ina random Saturday morning!
