Absolutely wonderful time here. Everyone was beyond friendly, accommodating and just generally fun. It's home without being home. The food seems to be made with fierce passion , the drinks are created with love. Thoroughly enjoyed this place and will be back. The bolognese was to die for. Jake was awesome read more

Very unique menu. It was a nice moody spot. We ended up in a dungeon room. The service was great and the food even though entire party was nervous was delicious !!! Just order and trust the chef it's magical read more

Six of us had dinner Friday night and none will ever return. Ridiculously overpriced for uninspired food. So many great new spots in Phoenix do not waste your time here. read more

What an incredible experience! From the drink 'On Island Time' (which is my favorite time!) to the half chicken with polenta, cacio e Pepe pasta. I was on cloud 9! Must check this place out! read more

LOVED THIS PLACE. Perfect date night location. Great food wonderful service and amazing cocktails. Love the rotating menu. For sure going back. read more

Unfortunately, my partner experienced some health issues after dining at this establishment. We had dinner on Friday, the veal with cheese, and from that night onward, he began experiencing food poisoning symptoms. We're certain it was from this dinner since it's the only thing he ate that day. He had to be hospitalized due to the severity of the infection and dehydration. read more

Love this place! I take my son the the park that is right next to this place and never knew it was there. I just went for a couple cocktails and they tasted amazing. The balance was on point with both drinks. The bartender also suggested a twist on a drink I love and a whiskey sour but he made it topped with wine!! Can't say enough good things. Haven't tried the food but watching it go by I definitely will soon :) not sure if kids are allowed but if they are I'm definitely going after a park day read more

Great experience last night. Really liked the decor and ambiance. They have seating above the bar! I definitely want to sit there next time. Tried the Cacio and Pork Belly. Both were delicious. I like that there's a rotating menu. You'll get something new each time. Service was great from bartenders, hostesses, and wait staff. All in all super impressed! read more

I got the cacio e Pepe was pretty good but I don't love eggs so I didn't eat the topper. The noodles tasted homemade. The table we sat at was really low and it was pretty dark in there. The staff is very friendly and give great suggestions. read more

Flew in from LA, bad flight, rental car mayhem at Sky Harbor, hurried to the Airbnb (Encamto area) and looked up anything that was open past 9, First & Last turned the whole trip around, what a place! Great wine list (not massive but well chosen), ordered the Cy's Salad and the cauliflower, both were awesome, ended up ordering the asparagus too, maybe the best of all. Lamb Ragu, Ceccio de pepe and pork belly entrees, all really well done, the pasta was amazing, added a banana split sundae and espresso on the end, with awesome service and a great talk with owner Ashley, such a great person, I hope this place is around for many visits. Super comfortable atmosphere, but so well designed and planned out, considering going every night on this trip, can't imagine finding anything better. read more

Great date night! Food, cocktails & service were fantastic. This has been on our "check it out" list for a while and we are so glad we did. Will be back for sure. read more

Top notch food quality and customer service. The ambiance was trendy, and both upscale and casual in its own way. We really enjoyed the scallops, pork belly ragu, salmon and half chicken. All of our entrees were so flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. The only negative is the portions are somewhat small compared to the price, but the quality of the food makes up for it and we all left full and happy. read more

Zac and Cody are the most beautiful and brilliant mixologists! We plan on frequenting this establishment not only because the food was spectacular but because they were sensational! Cheers! read more

First & Last - Downstairs bar area is pristine - Italian Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

What a delightful surprise. My husband and I were headed downtown for a concert and wanted a quick bite. Pulled up Yelp and stopped into First & Last. The pictures do not do the place justice! The ambiance is divine and there are many areas to dine around the restaurants: bar area, upstairs, and quaint tables. The food and service were impeccable and we will definitely be back. Definitely a swanky, date night spot. read more

What a nice restaurant! We came here the day after his birthday (he chose his own bday dinner place, and I chose the next day) and we were both so pleasantly surprised, especially as two design snobs. I had the steak and he had the pork chop. We split the salad. Omg the salad was so good! Everything was so good, actually, including the service. Thank you for having a couple of non-alcoholic drink options too! We had both! I would highly recommend and I would definitely come back when I'm in the area. read more

New favorite! We recently moved just a couple of blocks from First & Last and stopped in for dinner as we were exploring the area. What a gem! We loved everything from the eclectic decor to the FnB to the friendly staff. "The Scenic Route" is my new favorite cocktail and the appetizers and main dishes we ordered were all amazing. Apparently, the menu changes so we will definitely be back regularly to try new dishes. read more

They made me feel so special on my birthday! Free dessert and Champaign. There were multiple staff members wishing me a happy birthday. The steak is perfect. Great drink program. read more

Atmosphere, food and service was delightful. The roasted carrots starter set high expectations, which were definitely met! The cy salad, hold the goat cheese and topped with the fried chickpeas was phenomenal. Black pepper pasta had a touch more spice than expected. Sponge cake portion very generous! read more

Good food good drinks wish they had more options of drinks but highly recommend trying great date night spot. Service is fast

Amazing place. The food and ambiance were great as was the service. Would highly recommend.

What a great find! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the super mean hostes with black hair that was working last Sat night. We had a 7:15pm reservation. My husband and I arrived earlier and decided to wait for the rest of our party downstairs at the amazing bar. The bartender was brilliant, he walked us through the amari cocktail options, made us fantastic drinks. When our friends arrived right on time to be seated we asked if we could finish our drinks at the bar. The other hostes, who was pretty cool, said we could and 40 min later we realized she might have forgotten about us, because she hadn't called us yet. Long story short, they either forgot about us and gave our table away or people were not leaving, but we didn't sit at the table until 1.5+ hr past the reservation time. The blond hostes offered us a round of drinks, the black haired one made us feel as if it were our fault for not getting seated. Anyway, once we ordered appetizers and entrees everything was great. Service was exceptional. Food so sooo good. Definitely, going to be back. read more

Our group of 7 had dinner today. I was extremely unhappy with the service. Our waiter forced us to split the bill in 4. We were forced to pay more than what we ate and drank. I would never recommend this restaurant. The food was ok. I am very unhappy with us being forced to pay more than what we consumed because we could only split the bill in 4. Do not eat there unless you want to pay extra. read more

My husband and I went for date night. Off the bat service was lacking - we sat at the bar and were not even acknowledged for quite some time. Once we ordered drinks it took 10+ minutes to get them. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer- I will say that stole the show of the meal. It was delicious! It set the bar for the meal, but unfortunately the dinner did not live up. My husband ordered a steak- for $60 you'd expect more. It was served with plain old French fries which weren't even very good. I ordered a pasta dish- the sauce was WAY overpowered with black pepper. It was all I could taste and couldn't even enjoy it. Overall, would not return (except maybe for that calamari!) was disappointed. read more

What a great find!! Their menu changes frequently to keep up with the seasons to provide a farm to table experience. The ambiance was lowkey, low light, and all around good vibes. Our server was amazing! I ordered the Braised Bacon Bolognese and it was to die for. I will be coming back to try the next menu:) read more

We first saw First and Last on Marc Tarbell's PBS program, Check Please. If you're not familiar with the Roosevelt Row area, it may be difficult to find. There is overflow parking in the parking garage. We decided to go on Friday when they open at 5:00 pm.. From the outside, it's appears small and deceiving, but once inside, the open space has ample seating, there is also an upstairs, the Nest, and seating in the lower level, Little Debbie's. The hostess was friendly and walked us to the large U-shaped bar with comfortable barstools with high backs. They were well spaced apart with ample leg and elbow room, and a hook underneath for your bag. They have a few craft cocktails, wine, and beer, on the HH menu. There was plenty of bar-servers and we didn't have to wait but a minute or two. One of the bartenders, Ray, was especially helpful in listening and understanding what I wanted. He made it perfectly!! The servers were attentive and friendly, filled our water glasses in a very timely fashion, and Ray explained the food options. We asked which he preferred between the two that we narrowed it down, and once again, he nailed the suggestion for us. The burrata was explained perfectly, as it doesn't sound like the flavors would marry very well, be he assured us that indeed they would and we would not be disappointed. We would not have ordered it if it weren't for his descriptive explanation. After the burrata, we had the calamari which was presented with a nontraditional dipping sauce. It was very rich and flavorful, and not too salty. To finish off our happy hour we shared the tiramisu with was soft and fluffy, with just the right flavors of chocolate, coffee, and cream. It was not soggy but fresh, and felt as if it was made just for us. Kudos to the chef! The restroom was clean and easy to find and the communal hand washing station was good and well stocked with enough soap and paper towels. On our way out I witnessed a server hand shaking a drink from the bar. It appears everyone chips in as needed, there is definitely no one just standing around. That is good training for staff. We recognized the husband owner from the PBS program, and witnessed him mingling with the customers and also helping the staff as needed. The wife owner was also visible and we exchanged a nice conversation with her about how they got started. By the time we left, the entire restaurant was full with people waiting. A reservation is definitely a must. Our next trip will be with a reservation for dinner. One suggestion, if you're with a date, ask a staff why the name of the restaurant is First and Last. read more

This restaurant has quickly became one of my favorites. The decor and atmosphere is so cozy and inviting and the food is consistently delicious every time. The whipped feta, jalapeño corn bread, and street fries omg. I like that the menu changes frequently but still keeps staples on it. Last night I had the carbonara and it was AMAZING. Hope that one stays! I've been pregnant every time we've gone so I haven't been able to try any of the cocktails but I can't wait to go back after the baby and try them! read more

Great cocktails and wonderful dining experience. Their signature cornbread is everything they promise and more.

Great food and great atmosphere. The French Fries are to die for and the entrees are amazing. Would recommend this to any one looking for a hip date night spot with both good food and drinks. Great location as well. read more

The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the ambiance. As others have mentioned rude servers and managers. The cacio de pepe was inedible and modified from what you see on the pictures (different pasta and a breaded egg on top). An individual in our party ordered the NY strip medium and it came purple and when he kindly asked for it to be cooked longer it was as if the manager took it personally. They literally through it back on the skillet and she returned in less than two min. No one ever asked how our meal was and we were celebrating a birthday to which they dropped of a tiramisu and didn't say a word. Our first and Last visit. read more

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar on a busy Saturday night- the service was great! The 3 bartenders were all so friendly and attentive. We tried the Squash appetizer and Veal Parmesan special- both were AMAZING! Highly recommend this spot read more

The food was great. Not much to complain about. The three stars is mostly for the rest of the staff when we first walked in the front and nobody directed us where to go so we were standing around looking around wondering if its open seating even though I made reservations. The host wasn't that pleasant either. It is clearly a 110 degrees outside and asked us if we want to sit by the windows in the front where the sun is beaming down. Politely asked for a table in the shade. The ambiance is cute but the workers need to be just as kept as the restaurant itself. It wasnt even busy at the time we arrived so was hoping for more hospitable workers. read more

Delicious dinner and drinks with my sister. Peach salad was fresh and tasty. Cocktails were delicious. Sister had chicken dish, I ordered Merguez sausage and pasta which was very good. Service was awesome. Will definitely try it again, as the menu is seasonal and changes. read more

What a great dining experience. The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere and intimacy to it. Our server Chad was helpful and had some great recommendations for drinks and dining. We had the steak entree and the Cacio e Pepe. Both were full of flavor and balance. All and all, everyone there was very friendly, receptive, and helpful! Looking forward to trying more items on the menu. read more

Ashley and Rob are a great restaurant team that Phoenix needs more of! Whether you're looking for a date night, a solo night at the bar after work, or a big group, I always feel welcomed and accommodated. The menu is always creatively made and the ambience is relaxed and positive. There's been little to no turnover in staff since I've been coming in since late spring, which is another testament to good ownership and leadership. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great atmosphere, loved the hanging Pothos plants and many of the real plants they had, appetizers were great and the entrees( grilled pork chop, grilled quail) were delicious and and cooked perfectly. The drinks were okay based on 3 different cocktails. But I came for the food and atmosphere and it delivered. Very knowledgeable server and very polite. Would definitely return and highly recommend this place for a perfect date night or celebration. read more

I had the Quail, it was packed with flavor. Great ambiance, go for drinks or a small party.

This will be the FIRST and LAST I ever eat at this restaurant. This is the first time that we have walked away from our cocktails without drinking them, we tried 3 different ones and all left them almost full. Very strange not compatible taste combinations. We started with 4 appetizers, and did not enjoy any of them. The flavor or lack of flavor combinations is hard to explain. I feel like the popularity of this restaurant comes from the ambience and a hip generation that doesn't know how to cook or what good flavored food taste like, especially considering the high cost of it all. read more
