Sweet potato waffle fries
Lauren L.

I genuinely enjoy their wings and sauces and am so glad FOTM has arrived in Central Park. However, tonight we got a takeout order and the $11 sweet potato waffle fries were a little burnt at the edges and pretty hard overall. I like a crispy fry, but these were clearly overdone.

I discovered Stanley Marketplace a few years back and this bar was such a magical hidden gem. I believe it used to be a 60s airline-themed bar until new owners took over and I was delighted by the new look and feel of the place. The moment you walk in it feels like you have found something special, tucked away on the third floor of Stanley; the only business you'll find on the floor. From the soft glow of the candles in the entry way, to the friendly servers and bartenders, something about this place instantly feels welcoming. It's a smaller and quaint space but I love the cozy vibe. There are a few different seating options, including bar seats and tables (for the tables I recommend a reservation as there are only a few and this place is usually popping after 4pm). My favorite spot is grabbing a high top seat by the window, as they usually leave the window cracked if the weather is nice and you have a great view of the sky, back patio, and soon-to-be park behind Stanley. The service is exceptional and you can tell right away the bartenders are both knowledgeable and accommodating, always trying to make sure they meet your preferences on drinks and food. It's an oyster bar and has small bites, but the real stars of the show are their amazing esoteric cocktails! Each drinks feels so unique and is creatively hand-crafted with a name that matches the ingredients and flavor profiles. I'm always so excited to see the presentation of the cocktail, as no two are alike. They also offer seasonal items so the drinks tend to be on-rotation, which is a fun way to try different concoctions, depending on the season. Whenever I am having a tough week, need to get away, or just want to relax and forget all the worries happening in my life, my go-to spot is Traveling Mercies. There's nothing like listening to their eclectic playlists, sipping a yummy and creative cocktail, while reading a good book. If you haven't already, please come check this unique bar out! I can guarantee you'll enjoy the experience.

Traveling Mercies has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the Denver area…read more The cocktails are the standout here. Everything is well balanced, thoughtfully put together, and consistently impressive. There's a good mix of classic foundations with more creative twists, and it all works. The food holds its own too. The oysters are always fresh and well shucked, and the smaller bites are just as strong. One of my favorites is the caviar with Ritz crackers, tartar sauce, egg, and chives. It sounds simple but it's done really well. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of both the drinks and food makes it worth it.

We had a 5:45 PM reservation but the dining room was already full, so we sat at the bar and were immediately offered menus, water, and house-made chips and homemade salsa (Aaaah-mazing salsa!). Service was friendly and welcoming from our server Hunter to the bartenders and food runners -- everyone was happy to chat. We sampled a couple cocktails (Elderflower Prickly Pear and the Spicy Mezcal). If you like mezcal, the Spicy Mezcal is a perfect balance of heat and bright citrus. The prickly pair is too sweet for my taste buds but love the presentation. For my entrée I tried the Nomada's Best of Plate -- a grilled taco, chicken enchilada (I added green chili), and crispy carnitas (I ate these with a tortilla). All three were excellent and distinct; the chicken enchilada was my favorite and likely what I'll order next time. My wife had the crispy carnitas fajitas -- a generous portion and very easy to eat thanks to a thoughtful presentation. Highly recommend -- just be sure to make a reservation.

I was by myself, and the waiter walked right by me numerous times and finally after about 15 minutes he comes over and wants to take my order... whoa... how about a drink and some chips and salsa first. So, several minutes later, they show up and he wants to take the order. I said let me enjoy these for a bit and come back in about 10 minutes. The salsa was really good but pretty spicy. So, he comes back and takes the order. I had the steak fajitas. They were not what I was expecting. The steak was ok, but not too many veggies, and just a small amout of cheese. The rice was white rice which seemed strange. Beans were ok. An extra plate for the tortillas would have been nice. I asked for a drink refill and it took at least 20 minutes. I got pretty annoyed. He finally said something like "I've been really busy" or something like that. It was a bit mumbly and I didn't bother to ask. I won't be back.
