Have to update my review here. I've been going to FotM since it opened in Wash Park and to the Highlands one prior. Lately, I've been disappointed. The prices on everything keep creeping up while the quality goes down. I understand food inflation, but coupled with declining quality I'm just no longer a regular customer anymore. The last 3 times I've gone, the fries were very brown on the outside but not overcooked, indicating the oil was old and needed to be changed, this gives them an off flavor that's not good. When done right, their fries are fantastic, however this is a regular issue now. Also, they changed their burger in the past year, something I used to order a bunch, but not at all anymore. It used to be a grass fed patty and now they call this a wagyu blend, but it's awful and tasteless compared to the old one. Additionally, their wings (for some reason only when getting to-go) are either way over sauced, sitting in a pool of sauce and thus get soggy or they're under-sauced. The issue with the oil is really what gets me though. I'm guessing they're dragging it out longer before changing it to save money, but they're doing it at the cost of quality and now they've lost a regular customer. To go order Sunday night and the place was hopping! Opening the door you instantly smell so many amazing aromas. Outside and inside seating available. Order was ready quick. I kind of wished they would just let us pay when we preorder to avoid having to wait in line to pay, I think that would help lighten the congestion up. FOTM continues to be our wing place when in the mood despite now living about 30-minutes away. They are a bit pricier and smaller than other wing places, however, almost every time we've gone we've gotten more wings than we ordered (ex. 10 instead of 9, 14 instead of 12, etc), which is a really nice treat! We ordered 3 of the 9 combos with spicy peanut, raspberry habanera, garlic parmesan, buffalo, and lemon pepper sauces. We also got a 5 boneless jerk wings and the Jamaican jerk sandwich with a side of tots for the table. The tots came out probably 10-12 minutes before the rest of the wings which was definitely a bummer as we were hoping to eat them with the wings, but in order to have them hot, we had to eat them beforehand. All of the wings were great, however, we are unsure of whether the spicy peanut was actually spicy peanut or something else as when it was delivered the waitress said bourbon chipotle, but the sauce didn't really taste like peanut, bourbon, or chipotle... whatever it was it was really good, but definitely a mystery sauce. The boneless jerk wings were huge - more like tenders than wings in my opinion. The Jamaican jerk is my go to sandwich here and it is always fire. I usually love this place but I was really disappointed last time I came. Saw they had a special going on for a pimento dip. I usually love pimento dip but it was honestly kind of inedible? The dip was $12, and came with some bread. I was kinda shocked how small it was when it came out, but I didn't finish it anyway. The bread they brought with it was pretty burnt, so I asked if they had any other bread they could bring out instead. Server was super nice about it but when she brought the new bread out she ran away before I could process how burnt the 2nd batch was as well. It wasn't her fault, but I couldn't get past the burnt taste. Not sure if that was why I didn't like the dip either, didn't really have anything else to try it with as a control (even a spoon). After spending $18 on a single 10oz beer (after tax/tip, but should have paid attention more tbh) I just felt really guilty for trying to show my SIL our fav restaurant and regretting everything I got. The chili cheese fries were crispy under all the hearty chili and melted cheese, total comfort food. The queso was creamy and perfectly spiced, great for dipping.
