Walked in and walked out. I interrupted the hostess' conversation by walking in and they continued their conversation even after saying "table for 3". We were sat down and the waitress seemed bothered to do her job. We waited for quite a while. No one came out to ask for our drinks and the menus were placed at the end of the table for us to grab. Had a work lunch here and decided to go for a salad as I wasn't feeling like a burger. I got the Morrocan salad with steak and a side of onion rings. The salad and dressing was sooo good! So was the onion rings. Very flavorful and I love the ketchup that came with the onion rings - it's a bit tangy and has a little kick. The steak however was terrible. I asked for a medium and it was well done. It also wasn't seasoned at all, and I could taste the meat used wasn't super fresh. Good thing was they gave a good size portion of steak so too bad it didn't taste very good. We also ordered a few appetizers to share among the group. The appetizers were quite large, not as I remembered last time I went to a Finny's. We ordered: coconut shrimp - they used jumbo shrimps and so was a good size portion per order. I however did not love it as much as some other coconut shrimps I've had. Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls.- large, but just okay. I wished it was more savory. Might have needed some peppers in it to help balance out the rest of the flavor Boffola cauliflower - just okay. The batter wasn't crispy even though it was a nice golden brown. And it didn't have very much flavor. All I tasted was the soft cauliflower inside and the buffalo sauce that was drizzled on top. Presentation looked great, but flavor was really lacking Tuna over fried rice - delicious, the rice was perfectly crispy, and the tuna on top was a little tangy and a little spicy. Would definitely order again Lettuce wrap - loved this dish as well, if it had just a little less salt. The dish was crispy and had many ingredients, but it was just a bit too salty sadly. Wanted to try this Finney's location in Brea now that we have one closer to home but definitely not as enjoyable as the one we stopped in at Santa Barbara. Came by on Friday night, the host was able to seat us right away at a bar top table. We wanted for about 10-15 mins for our server to acknowledge us but nothing, unsure of who our server was. Just kept seeing the staff walking by, maybe not their section. After a waiting a little while, we ditched the table headed to the bar top hoping service was faster but still not much acknowledgement. Just some eye contact and they just seemed preoccupied. After sitting at the bar for about 10 mins we were finally acknowledged, appetite was out the window, just ordered a beer for my wife and I. Drank the beer, paid and still left a tip and headed down to a more tried and true establishment that we frequent often in the area. Hopefully management can get the team to be more attentive and create a better experience for the guests because as locals, we want to support local spots here. 2 stars because the amber beer was solid! read more

Finney's is a fantastic addition to downtown Brea. Yesterday, we went for a ladies' morning out, and it was such a treat. For the table, we ordered the coconut shrimp and cheesesteak egg rolls. The shrimp was divine - perfectly cooked with a deliciously crispy breading and a spicy dipping sauce. I had a baby bite of the egg rolls, and they were also well-seasoned and tasty. Everyone loved their main dish. I went with the single smash burger and fries. I love Finney's addition of cherry peppers; it's definitely a nice touch. My raspberry lemonade was giving major lemon drop vibes and was so refreshing! Our server, Emily, was attentive, and all of the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Come here if you want to wait 15 minutes for water or to order after you have been seated. Come here for feeling uncomfortable when an employee yells profanities as they walk down the sidewalk. Come here for truly great food, they know what they are doing with that at least! It seems like they have a ways to go before the environment is one I would say is nice. Go to tempo for a wonderful environment and great service, but if you don't care about that, come here for the food! Out of 5, +1 star for the amazing food and nice staff that are understaffed but trying their best, -4 for an employee walking down the sidewalk yelling profanities and the long wait for water and to order. It seems like the staff are currently super stressed, probably because they don't have enough staff if I had to guess for the size of the restaurant. Watermelon and strawberry miss the mark. 5/10 Bison burger: Solid flavor with the additions of the cherry peppers. Small in size but to be expected with a bison burger. 7/10 Fries: Maybe just a bad batch but we're stale and cold. For having to pay extra for fries you would expect them to be at least fresh. 2/10 Service: Attentive at first then a sharp decline once the food came out. For being the new kid on the block you would expect all hands on deck to be ambassadors of the brand, but seems to not be the case. 6/10 Ambiance: Design interior is great but it stops there. Finney's brea feels like a shell of a restaurant that's still trying to find its soul. 6/10 Overall: 6/10 Not worth the wait unless you can get an immediate seat at the bar. For the record, we love Finney's.... In Orange. It's one of our go to places. The Brea location, which we've been to a few times falls short, at least in customer service. They've been open for a while now so training and staffing are no longer an excuse. Our most recent experience is walking in for an early dinner, being seated without a wait, plenty of servers and manager walking around, but No service!!! We sat for about 15 min+ and no one came to our table. Needless to say we left. On top of that, we were seated by the large street facing windows, and someone is skipping out on their cleaning duties... dead flies and food on the window sill, pretty gross, as well as the women's restroom, dirty. Leaving a negative review is my least favorite review to leave. Since I ended up in the ER after visiting I need to share my experience. My husband and I visited on Tuesday evening for a date night. I ordered the smash burger with sweet potato fries, he ordered the ahi sandwich and sweet potato fries. When I got my burger it looked blah it didn't have the type of oil and shine as a fresh burger does. I even felt the patty; it was warm on the inside and cold on the outside. I was really hungry and didn't want to send it back which was my own mistake, instead I gobbled it down. The fries were really good. I woke up at 4 am the following morning with terrible food poisoning and ended up in the ER not able to keep any liquids down. I am still recovering days later. I really liked this place before and it's so close to home. I am bummed but will not be returning. read more

The restaurant is small and very open, but it felt a bit too brightly lit. They seemed to squeeze in as many tables as possible, and we were seated at an awkward table right by the front door. Every time someone came in or out, we felt a cold breeze, which wasn't very comfortable. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel appetizer, which was good, and the dipping sauces were solid as well. I got the pastrami sandwich--it tasted good, but it was a little too greasy. The bottom bun was soaked through, and I also found it odd that the sauerkraut was served in a cup on the side. When I tried to add it to the sandwich, it ended up falling apart. My girlfriend ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich and asked for the Nashville hot ranch on the side. Unfortunately, they put it on the sandwich anyway and also gave it on the side. The waitress was very nice and helpful and replaced it for her, but the replacement took a long time to come out. Both sandwiches came with potato chips, which were just okay. I would have preferred fries and wouldn't have minded paying to upgrade, but fries were only offered as a separate side. We did order tater tots on the side, and those were good. Overall, prices were very reasonable, and the service was friendly, though there were some comfort and execution issues that took away from the experience read more

It isn't my favorite place, but it is often the default one because of the variety and the consistency. We love Finney's. My son and I went today for lunch. First time we had a terrible meal my son ordered steak quesadilla. It had such a funny taste. I couldn't eat it. I also think since it's a sport bar.. depending if Brea allows it due to the curfew if you had for example parties just how downtown Fullerton has it. Or hear me out speed dating events. Our server came by after a few moments of being seated to introduce herself and we quickly asked her if we could order which she obliged. I finally got to try this place and I certainly enjoyed the experience! I thought the service was amazing and I really like the vibe of the whole restaurant. I tried the double smash burger and was pleased with how tasty it was! They really have something for everyone on their menu. That being said, I personally don't care for when the price of a burger and fries are separated at restaurants. I feel like it's a bit misleading. The portions were also quite small in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of sitting in the back next to ski ball. I asked to move as people continued to play. Not a huge deal but I just didn't want to hear that noise the whole dinner. I noticed a significant reduction in is the space ( I had not been in the space since the Farell's days) The layout feels bit odd, there are booths in the middle of the space and tables towards the back of the room. The beer selection is one of the great features about the place. I had their Hazy IPA, so refreshing for the hot weather. They lost me at the food.... I ordered a salad with salmon and the salmon was very dry. We also had a couple burgers and they were okay, fries lukewarm. It was not busy, so It would be hard to say that this was the cause of the food being subpar. Hope the food quality improves. read more

The food here honestly deserves 5 stars -- the chicken and waffles were amazing, and even the Sprite was great. But unfortunately, things went downhill after that. I ordered a chicken sandwich that did not mention bacon at all in the description, but it came with bacon. I don't eat bacon, so I had to send it back and get it replaced. The real issue came when it was time to pay. We tried to split the bill, but there were so many complications. Items we already paid for still showed as unpaid, and it took a long time to get everything sorted. I even had to pay for a Coke Zero I never ordered, just because I was ready to leave at that point. Drink: their hef was great. The service was slow. We didn't get greeted after 10 minutes of waiting I went to the host stand where the manager was to alert them. She apologized and was met with our waiter. Server was okay but didn't follow simple requests like no ice in water or sauce on the side for burger. We would've gotten dessert but wasn't approached with the idea. Maybe because they were closing down so probably wanted to go home for the evening. This is a review for the Brea location. The food was really good. The wagyu burger was really good and better than the bison burger but because I'm not really big on the sweets and the bison burger had bacon jam which was sweet for my taste. The tater tots were crunchy and the onion rings had lots of cheese which is good comfort cheese lovers. The place was really busy last night but I think they said that it was a once a year country event going on. The place is pretty big and I think they could utilize some of the empty spaces to add more tables. The service was great and my girlfriend and I managed to find a table at the bar which actually worked out better than the booths since we got to see the angels and dodgers game. First person at bat was Ohtani and he hit a home run which was cool. The bartender that we had was nice and had awesome service. Got us menus and drinks quick. Went to Finney's in SLO and was excited to see location Openning locally. We went to Brea location on July 5th and was able to get seated very quickly . Service was great and. Food was great we had shrimp tacos and tritip tacos. Cost was 90 dollars for meals and 3 drinks. We will definitely be going back read more

Visited on Tuesday, June 3rd around 1 PM with my daughter. The restaurant wasn't busy, and we were seated right away, which was a good start. Drinks came out quickly, and we placed our order: the loaded bacon tater tots to start, a kids' cheese pizza with fresh berries for my daughter, and a double smash burger with truffle fries for myself. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. The tater tots arrived first, but they were lukewarm at best--clearly had been sitting out a while. No utensils or napkins were provided, and despite the name, I couldn't find a single piece of bacon in the few tots I ate. If there was any bacon, it must've been microscopic. The flavor was bland, and the texture suffered from not being served hot. Next came my daughter's pizza. It was decent and she liked it, but again, no napkins or utensils meant she ended up with pizza sauce all over her clothes. The "fresh berries" on the side looked anything but fresh--definitely not appealing. My burger came out nearly 10 minutes after my daughters food. I'll take the blame for ordering it with the pepper spread--not realizing it was bell peppers, which totally overpowered the rest of the flavors. The truffle fries were good. The Arnold Palmer was actually really good, and they have a decent beer selection, but overall the food was underwhelming and the service felt uninterested and inattentive. With a little more care in the kitchen and on the floor, this could've been a much better experience. Sadly, it missed the mark on multiple levels. I have a feeling this location will be empty soon once again. read more
