We went to Figo for lunch today. Although we missed our initial brunch reservation by 2 hours, they were kind enough to allow us to order off the brunch - instead of mid-day - menu. We ordered the Margherita pizza and olives. Both were surprisingly good, despite the reviews we read of this place. Along with a glass of wine and some Mezcal, the total was $60. (The one ounce of Mezcal seemed to be less than one ounce.) The whole meal was kind of expensive for what it was, although we did enjoy the food and atmosphere. It was pleasant. I liked the open kitchen concept and brightness of the interior. Our server was also pleasant, except on asking us at the end whether we wanted two bills instead of one. It was my husband. It felt awkward and inappropriate, and somewhat lessened my overall and otherwise to that point positive feeling of Figo. It's a beautiful space and an expansive patio. We went for Sunday brunch without reservations on a sunny day. Not problem getting in. There were still a lot of people but I have to say from what I've seen you wouldn't wait long. Had the Figo breakfast - covered all the basics plus tomatoes on the vibe, mushrooms and to my surprise sourdough bread. Honestly, it was delicious. Coffee was so on point I really wanted to find out the toaster so I could have it at home. Customer service was on point too. Everyone was friendly except the hostess she could learn a thing or two from pretty much everyone else. It's an important role and can set the mood to start but fortunately we had a great server. The resto has a nice atmosphere and really nice decor. It is definitely on the fancier side with people dinning in dresses and suits. In terms of food, I think the taste is just average. There was nothing spectacular or special about the pasta, pizza, or salad my friends and I ordered. However, the bread as seen in the photo was definitely the highlights of the meal as I believed it was baked fresh and was delicious. This restaurant hit the mark! I can only speak to the two items I ordered, but they took me straight to heaven. I would highly recommend the Rosalina cocktail if you like something that is spirit forward, complex and refreshing. And for dinner, the Paccheri rabbit pasta with butter, mushrooms, and fresh peas was delightful. The pasta probably could have used 1 to 2 more minutes... It was just shy of al dente. But once I stirred it up and let it sit in its own broth, it came to the proper texture after a while. That's a minor complaint. Loved this place. They have a very nice indoor and outdoor sitting and an open kitchen. We came here for quick lunch, the outside patio was very nice and you can see the CN tower from your seat. Our waiter was very friendly. We got a cocktail each to start very good. We got the carbonara and the zucchini chips to share and they were both so good. The carbonara is a must when you come here, the perfect balance of light but creamy. We ended up sharing a lemon/ pistachio cannoli and it was super good. Super cute spot. I've been seeing pictures of this place on Instagram for the past year and finally got to come experience the place today. It was super packed when we arrived on a Sunday at 1 PM. I found the front door to be a bit odd looking but whatever that's not the reason why I gave this place a four stars. The hostess is the first person you see as you enter.. The girl was very nice, she greeted me with an upbeat hello and seated me promptly - I did have a reservation. I noticed it was very loud. Omg, so loud that two girls dining across from each other had to yell so that one could be heard. I noticed our table wasn't in the best location. I was constantly being rubbed by other patrons or by purses. The seat itself is not made for a much plumper girl either so beware. Let's take a moment to comment on how beautiful the colours and architecture of this place are. I found myself starring at the ceiling for a good minute. The bar is stunning. I also love how attractive everyone is that works there. I also love open kitchens. I think it's great when you can see a bit of the action going on back there. Our server was Andreas. Very friendly fellow with impeccable manners and grace. We looked over the menu and I decided to order the Figo spritz. It was very tasty. Just the right amount of bitterness and fizz. I also ordered the Chicken Arugula Salad. I wasn't aware that it came with huge pieces of sardines in it but honestly I really didn't like it. It's a very pretty salad but not my taste. Andreas noticed that I didn't eat much and asked if everything was okay. I told him that it just wasn't my taste but that it wasn't Figo's fault. To my surprise he told me that he would discard it from my bill. That was very nice of him but please don't expect that this will always happen. This is rare kindness at its best and I DONOT want anyone reading this and thinking that it's there protocol. I really found his gesture very kind so I instead used the money that I would have paid for the salad and gave it to him as a tip. Now let's get to the reason why I gave this place a four stars. The washrooms are dis-gus-ting! For a place as beautiful as this I was quite taken aback. The washrooms are unisex which is fine but when I went to use it there was urine everywhere. On the seat to the floors.. there was also paper towel everywhere. There should be a staff member going in on the hour to clean especially with the traffic they have coming in and out and being so busy. After this lengthy review I would definitely go back! Calamari Fritti with lemon aioli ($16) - the calamari itself was average, I've definitely had better but this wasn't bad. wish they had more pieces though. the lemon aioli was pretty good. Spaghetti a Limone with spinach, caper and parmesan ($18) - the addition of the lemon flavours were interesting, so if you're not a big fan of lemon you'll probably think this pasta tastes weird haha. also, the few pieces of wilted spinach in this pasta made it sad looking. it was not bad but I wouldn't order this again. Cacio E Pepe Spaghetti with black pepper and pecorino ($20) - creamy and cheesy, could've added more black pepper but I did enjoy this pasta. now I want to try their cacio e pepe pizza and brunch item. Overall, portions are on the smaller side but it's not too expensive here so I guess that's why. With the beautiful attention to design and central location (amidst a lot of meh restaurants in the Entertainment District), this place is perfect for a girly get together (in fact, every time I go, there seems to be a baby shower or some other similar celebration). In the summer, the patio is great. This is one of my go-tos for weekend brunch for one reason: eggs cacio e pepe. Order this. It's a generous portion of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs with shaved cheese and pepper on top of bread, with a refreshing side salad and roasted baby potatoes with lots of herb seasoning. It's filling and delicious! They also have a 3 course brunch prix fixe that I had once, but it was too much food for so early in the day! It is a good deal though if you are very hungry. Pizzas are also a solid option here. I have always found the servers here genuinely friendly and attentive. I even got into a discussion of Netflix shows with one recently, as she overheard my friend and I talking about shows:P read more

Boy was I ever disappointed. Where should I start? The tap water was room temperature; and our Toronto city water isn't anything to be coveted. Then again, good move on the restaurant's part to up sell $20 cocktails, etc. Not to go overboard on my first visit, we ordered simple meals that even a junior chef wouldn't have problems heating up in a microwave. The was where the disappointment began. The clam pasta was of average flavour; however, it was the clumping of the pasta that threw off the entire plate. It wasn't one or two strands that were clumped together. It was practically the entire dish. The pizza we order was just so average. Considering the hype and reviews this was a complete let down as we have had much better in Toronto. It was borderline soggy and not cooked the way expected. Figo is on a popular intersection in the entertainment centre just around the corner from the TIFF Lightbox. The floor to ceiling glass walls make it a good space to people watch and the decor is stylish and clean. Service was accommodating and more than happy to make recommendations when we were torn between choices. Food wise, I was disappointed. I had the gnocchi and shared a beet & strawberry salad. The gnocchi was unfortunately over done, which made it really gummy. Also, the flavor was bland so overall the dish was not to my taste. Had a delicious dinner here recently on a business trip. The space is beautiful, the hostess friendly, service prompt and informative, seating very comfortable, and great atmosphere. I could have stayed longer, moved to the bar for a night cap, but emails called me back to my hotel room. The starters were good, calamari which was fried perfectly. The toasted bread, cheese, and cured meat was also very good - albeit a little hard to eat. Ample portions for appetizers, just enough to get you ready for your main. I had a pizza, a lovely white pizza with mushrooms. The taste was perfect, the char on the pizza just right. Though it was a bit oily on top, was okay though - just used my crust for the oil that fell :) The pasta and clams were lovely, portion on the smaller side but the pasta was filling. Semi private dining space, and outdoor seating as well. Would def. recommend this place and would put it on my list to come to when back in lovely Toronto! read more

I have been to Figo quite a few times, as it is near where I live - both for weekend brunches and dinners. Firstly, I want to mention the lovely decor - it really is a very classy place, perfect for a girls' brunch. They also have a great patio in the summer. For brunch, there is a pretty good prix fixe menu which includes coffee/tea, an appetizer, a main and a dessert. But I actually prefer their dinner menu. Some of my favourites on the menu include the Soppressata pizza (the honey added just the perfect touch of sweetness), and the tagliatelle with clams and dill. I find that the pasta portions are not that big, so if you are hungry, then definitely go for the pizzas. If you are planning a visit on the Friday or weekends, I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time (can book via Opentable). Came here for dinner a couple of times, its a convenient location between theatres. At dinner time around 7pm it can get very busy and a table could be about 30 mins to an hour without a reservation. After 9pm the wait is about 10 mins usually. The interior is lovely lots of white and floral murals with an arch near the kitchen. Dimly lit with candles. They also have a big patio which should be excellent in the summer. Prices are reasonable for the area and the food. The fried zucchini app is good at first, it comes crispy and light like tempura but the bottom gets soggy by the end but great for sharing. Curdo is fine, fish felt fish and a good cold app. Their cheese and charcuterie plate is good for $30 you get a variety and is filling. The clam tagliatelle, is more broth based not much sauce but the pasta texture was good and the flavor was light. The seafood fregula is more like a stew, not pasta but it came with pearl couscous, good variety of fish like a tomato bouillabaisse. But the best thing is the wild bear ragu! Just skip the first two mentioned and get this one. The pasta texture is super chewy which I love. The sauce is meaty with the shaved cheese on top, its extremely savory and cozy. Service has always been nice, can take a bit long for the food to come out but thats fine with the atmosphere. read more

This review applies to brunch only. I was looking forward to this visit as the feedback from hard to please friends was positive. Add to that they took reservations for brunch (apparently getting harder by the day or weekend :) was a major plus as we were a larger group. They have a decent selection of items which should cover all bases. The prix fix caught my eye so decided to stick to that. I had the arancini which was great the eggs benny (below average as the bread was sub par) and affagato for dessert. The side of potato was tasteless and forgettable. Others in the group said the pizza was decent which could also be substituted to a margherita. The baked eggs also fared well. Omelette was OK as well. Hmm nothing special here with decent service. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in Toronto and unfortunately, Figo didn't win my heart. I ordered their pasta and was disappointed at how small the portion was. The pasta was a bit undercooked, which made it difficult to chew. Their pizza was delicious though - authentic Italian pizzas with a thin crust. The service was great and our server consistently checked in on us and kept our waters filled. However, we were charged $8 for sparkling water (they didn't give us the option to choose regular water - probably forgot). I would come back but only order their pizza. read more

Trendy and instagram pretty... thats the review summary I got when I read about Figo. I have to agree that the space is stunning in pictures. It's really well thought out and makes full use of the light entering the space through the large windows. But once you look around, you notice the wear and tear is taking it's toll heavily with chips, rubbed off paint, and marked up walls. I feel the emphasis is on the micro second moment in an instagram shot and less on the overall tastes and experience you can have. The space is light, airy, and gives you a young energetic but elegant vibe. It's a really pretty space. So if you're looking for a nice atmosphere for drinks, this might be a good spot to meet up. The bar area is a highlight and just a wonderfully long large space. Though everything is instagram pretty, don't look too into the details. The tables and chairs are showing a lot of large paint chips and there's lots of scuffing on most things. It's like the upkeep in the past year it has been open isn't working as well. Service here is efficient and polite enough. Nothing seems out of place from a staff perspective but it just feels a bit robotic. They're all doing a decent job but nothing seems sincere compared to other nice places in Toronto. As for brunch, the menu had enough variety to give most people a few happy choices. They even have a price fixe which is unique and novel to the brunch scene. Prices are definitely higher than your average neighbourhood spot. For my salad, it was about a 40% mark up from what I had from Cafe Neon ($12.5 compared to $17). Figo is definitely a different feel, look, and location but it's still a jump in price that I have to wonder if it is worth it. Tuna Salad - A hearty salad for those who don't necessarily want a big pizza or red meat for their brunch. This had a good amount of tender tuna that wasn't overly fishy. On top of the salad sat a perfectly poached egg. The olives was a nice burst of acidity and sourness to give the small leaves a flavour. Overall, it wasn't over dressed but I just found the overall flavour to be a bit bland. Everything was fresh, well executed, and looks perfect on a plate... it was just missing a flavour that made me go 'this is good'. 3.5/5 Meatball Puccia - Large potatos made of lardo and veal were cooked in a tomato sauce and stuffed into a pita looking bread. It was also served beside an arugula salad. Similar to the tuna salad, everything was fresh and well executed but it was missing flavour. Decent meal but nothing would on the plate would make us want to book a return for a dinner. 3.5/5 Home Fries Potato (side) - We asked for a side of potato... these were really nice and crispy. For $6, this was a bit steep compared to Wickson Social where they had the phenomenal duck fat fries. Figo was half the size of Wickson's and more expensive. 3.5/5 Overall, it's not a bad choice for brunch but it just leaves you wanting something of substance and memorable tastes beyond the first moment of 'instagram pretty'. It doesn't help when you literally have all the tables beside you trying to recreate a shot from above to post on Instagram and Mean Girls side eyeing everyone. read more

Figo is a pretty decent spot for some staple Italian food - albeit a bit pricy for the quality considering the stiff competition in the city. Good location, very nice and spacious patio with a large seating capacity. Servers were attentive and friendly for our meal. Food was good but not great. We had a couple of pizzas.... I really enjoyed the spicy soppressatta pie - very tasty. The appetizers were okay but the Wild Boar Ragu was on par with a ground beef/jar tomato sauce/package spaghetti meal you could cook at home, and less tasty. This was on an older Toronto Life list for one of the best new restos in the city, back in 2015 or 2016 I believe. However, there are spots that do pretty much everything that Figo does, better. Pizza - Libretto, General Assembly, Buca, Maker. Pasta - Enoteca, Gusto, BUCA. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop-in if you don't feel like waiting for a table at PAI or fine-dining at the insanely-good Byblos. But don't expect anything mind-blowing. read more

Such a beautiful spot! My friend and I went for an early brunch on a Saturday morning. We reservations so we didn't wait at all. The interior is stunning. Perfect for a girls lunch or even date night. We ordered the burger which was really good and ricotta pancakes! The pancakes were amazing!! The were thick and fluffy and had roasted almonds on top! Super good. We also got two Americanos that came with little biscottis. The service was "ok". The waitress wasn't unfriendly but wasn't friendly, if you know what I mean. Pros: It has a very cute patio and interior and is very suitable is you want to take cute photos. The food was good enough. Cons: The wait was incredibly long. I think it has to do with how we came at a busy time, but my friend and I waited for nearly 30 minutes for an eggs benedict and eggs florentine (we came ordered around 1:50). As I mentioned, the food was good but it was definitely not worth the money we paid for it as it tasted pretty basic and the portions wore quite small. This might be related to what we ordered because another table's pizza looked pretty good. Takeaways: Most likely would not come back, and if I did I would not be ordering what I ordered this time.
