The service here was ok it was a little bit slow considering the amount of people that were there. I liked the unique items on the menu. The difference beverages you don't find at every cafe shop. They had some pastries and other "snack" items. They also sell wine but starting at 11 am. The inside is a bit small so it's more of a grab to go place. They don't have that many tables. The parking in this area isn't free you have to pay for parking at the meter. I tried their simple avocado toast with cream cheese and that was good as expected. It's a little pricey for something like this at $10. For the drinks I tried the Les fleur which is an early gray matcha drink and that was by far my favorite. The creaminess from the earl gray salt foam really blended well with the matcha. The drink was even aesthetically pleasing. I would come here just for this drink. The other drink I tried was the Uji city fizz. I would say pass on this drink if you don't like yuzu in your matches and lattes. It didn't suit my palate. It had a refreshing taste but the flavors didn't mesh well for me. I'm still giving this place a 5/5 because this is just a taste preference even though this particular drink was a 2/5 for me.
FIFTH VESSEL COFFEE CO. located in downtown Houston across from the university of Houston downtown campus. Parking can be hard to find during busy traffic hours so try to come earlier in the day. The cafe is really cozy and vibey with large windows for views. They use Rocky's matcha here, which I heard is a popular American matcha brand. Their menu changes all the time, so I hope I'll get to order the yummy Les fleur a few more times! It has uji matcha, blueberry, & earl grey sea salt foam. Sooooo yummy, smooth, and creamy!!
The perfect coffee shop for your matcha fix! I was craving matcha this weekend and wanted to try a new spot. While in the downtown area I spotted fifth vessel coffee and I'm sooo happy I decided to check it out! It's located downtown so naturally parking can be a pain, but I was able to find street parking not too far away. I ordered the strawberry matcha "Ichigo" and LOVED it! Perfect texture, creamy + smooth and right amount of sweetness from the strawberry portion to balance out the umami flavor. I also tried the blueberry scone (served warm) and it was delicious! The blueberries were tart + sweet and the actual dough was so soft and not overly sugary. The only shock factor was the price. The total price was $28 for two matcha + the scone which I was a little surprised by. However, I just knew for those prices, they must back it up with excellent quality (which they did lol). The ambiance of the coffee shop was quite nice as well. The large windows in the front of the store were open allowing for a nice fall breeze. This coffee shop is definitely worth checking out!
THE BEST MATCHA IN HOUSTON! Wow I mean I've tried Rocky's matcha at home but a place that uses it is crazy work! They have so many options too! The place is small yet cute and chill, could be a place to work or hang out. The service is good, can get busy and take a while but it was all worth it! I've tried over 15 matcha spots in Houston this week and this is my favorite! I highly recommend and would come back! The flavor is unique, strong, and balanced!
This is a cool, quaint spot off the rain in downtown Houston. I was thirsty so I stopped to get a matcha to quench my thirst and it was great. Staff were lovely and they had food but I was in a rush, so only tried a drink. I'll definitely be back to try the food and enjoy the ambiance. Peace.
We needed a pick-me up and stopped here. It was a pleasant experience. We enjoyed everything, it is slightly more expensive for the portions (I would consider them slightly on the smaller side)
This coffee shop may be one of the best in Houston. I discovered from my Houston Coffee Passport and I'm so glad I did. Staff were nice and patient while I ordered. They took time to explain what the scones and loaves were in the pastry case. I ordered the Bonito iced but honestly it would be just as tasty hot. The place was busy and pretty full so I sat outside in a nice shady spot. I will be back and can't wait to return. Happy Yelping!!
Stopped by Fifth Vessel since I needed to be in the area for lunch later and was able to spend a nice two hours in the space nursing a delicious hojicha latte. Wasn't able to try any of the food but the options all looked great. Highly recommend this spot for all your caffeine needs, and there are plenty of outlets if you need to work on a device while enjoying your beverage or food. Would love to come back and try the other tea drinks on the menu sometime!
My boyfriend and I try a new coffee shop every Saturday, and this past weekend we checked out Fifth Vessel. It's a small cafe tucked into a corner off Main Street, but right now there is a lot of noise from construction happening directly in front of it. We arrived around 8:30 in the morning and there was only one other person inside. People came and went pretty steadily but not a lot of them stayed. We had planned to hang out and play cards, but we forgot to bring them. With all the construction noise it wouldn't have been the most relaxing spot anyway. I ordered an iced chai with almond milk and I really liked it. It was sweeter than I usually prefer, probably because of the almond milk but the flavor was so good that I didn't mind. My boyfriend got an iced coffee and said it had a great taste and strong brew, just the way he likes it. Overall, this place is super cute and I would definitely come back once the construction is finished and you can actually enjoy the vibe in peace.
Easy place to get to and i loved the matcha. Inspired me to try rocky's matcha and make it at home!
I've been wanting to try Fifth Vessel for a while and I'm so glad I finally did - it was delicious! The interior was beautiful as well and I ended up staying to study for a while. I got the Momo (matcha and peach) and it was amazing. I drank it in just a few minutes and wanted another drink, but I will say they were quite expensive so I refrained. There are several matcha and coffee drinks that I'm excited to try in the future though! The parking situation is a bit difficult since it's street parking only but I got lucky and got a spot around the corner. I'll definitely come back to Fiffh Vessel, and I highly recommend!
I desperately needed an early afternoon pick-me-up, so was happy to see that Fifth Vessel was a stone's throw away from my job. Thankfully, the barista was patient with me as I am still a newcomer to coffee drinking so had a hard time deciding on what to order: I settled for a caramel white chocolate latte and it was dessert in a cup! The inside space is quaint and cozy with lots of natural lighting so I'd love to return for a workday.
Didnt even get the food options (oh! Best scones around!) that looked honestly like chef competition food! Great prices too for the portions and quality. The coffee ... well.... I have been to all the main spots but this one is now added to the top list.. trust me. Go and see for yourself. Only issue is parking but hey , we could all use the steps, right?
The strawberry matcha was nice and could taste both. Enjoyed just wasn't enough and an actual cup instead of plastic would be nice. The shot of espresso, I prefer more viscous and there was no spoon to break the crema but honestly wasn't much to need one. Still it was ok just a thin tasting shot with no flavor or life to it. Love the stainless glass though. They don't have a price difference between single or double shot. Boo Maybe their lattes are nice but if the espresso shot is what they use in lattes it wouldn't be enough to break the milk. Little pricey Cool logo and chill place. read more

The jalapeño scone was 1000/10. Dense, moist, actually a hint of spice & sweetness with the perfect amount of cheese distributed throughout. This is a masterpiece and I'd have everyday. The blueberry matcha with early grey foam I think was solid. I liked that it was the right touch of sweetness throughout by having the blueberry on bottom & foam on top. read more

Cool lil coffee shop on the edge of downtown. I think what I ordered was called cardamom matcha. It was very cute layered drink. Now I'm not an avid coffee drinker so I could be wrong. So take my suggestion as a grain of salt lol. Maybe infuse the foam or include a spoon so the guest knows to mix it. The goodness was at the bottom. The top was just bland so first few sips were confusion until I got the bright idea to combine everything. Most definitely check them out they have all the classics and some dope curated drinks as well. I did see some cute plates coming out so food and pastries are available. read more
Disclaimer: I'm on a hunt for the best cafe to work from as I'm working remote. My review is based on factors for a good place to work from and not necessarily the coffee or food. Overall great cafe for work (if you manage to get a seat) and coffee is pretty good. I came on a Friday morning 9am and crowd was light. Noise level - 60db quiet conversation Wifi speed - 94 down 184 up Power plugs - only 4 along the wall Seats - 10 indoors Parking - Paid street parking can be expensive The service was great. My flat white came within 5 minutes. I didn't get any food but there are plenty of choices. This cafe is Japanese themed and people don't usually stay for long. The owner is a cool guy and I'd definitely come back! read more
Employees are friendly, pretty and open space for a small corner spot, yummy flavors for drinks and pastries. It's worth going out of the way to get drinks here! Ichigo matcha tastes like strawberry pocky, in the best way possible. The peach is pleasant too but strawberry matcha just hits differently. read more
Stopped in to try their matcha, and no I can't wait to come back and spend a couple hours doing some work here. Very cute spot in downtown. It's small, but cute inside. Staff were very friendly. Their matcha is a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it. May be the best I've had in Houston so far. I got the guava matcha and my friend got the strawberry one -- I liked the guava better. read more

Cardomom matcha - 9/10 - $9.50 - Loved the cardamom flavor and creamy foam, would prefer a tad more matcha Strawberry matcha - 8/10 - $9 - Tasted like strawberry milk with matcha, would be better with strawberry puree and more matcha but still good Maple matcha - 7/10 - $9 - Vanilla foam on this was good but the sweetness overpowered the matcha flavor Fifth vessel has some of the stronger matchas ive had (rockys matcha) even though i personally would prefer a bit more Overall a good spot for matcha if youre in the area but definitely overpriced for their small cup sizes (mine was gone in like 1 sip) read more

I highly recommend Fifth Vessel Coffee! I went today and the ambiance is so beautiful with gorgeous lights inside and a very neat kitchen. The staff were very kind as I'm from out of town so I was asking if they knew of a bus stop nearby and they went above and beyond to help me look for one. Also, they were kind to ask how sweet I would like my iced matcha. read more

Ten stars. This is one of my favorite coffee shops I've visited in awhile. Find them in the heart of downtown Houston. They are tucked at the end of a street, right before a big bridge/ramp. The outside has a huge colorful mural that is fun and welcoming in itself. I then saw the Bible verse on the outside by the front door that explained why the staff was beyond lovely and clearly working to not only serve great food, but love people well too. They are legit. The woman behind the counter had the warmest smile and I wanted to give her my full attention but my eyes were also distracted by the amazing-looking pastries, the detailed coffee menu, and items marked as their specialties. My design-loving soul also was soaking in the stunning wood-paneled walls with the curved shelves, mod light fixtures, and incredible natural light pouring through the windows. I wanted to take photos of everything. I saw on their Yelp page that folks love their homemade sausage rolls. Since my husband is from England, he was delighted to find an American spot that sold those and ordered one immediately, along with an espresso. I ordered the sourdough toast with scrambled eggs for our baby and a breakfast burrito for myself. I looove matcha and saw that they're known for their peach matcha and couldn't resist. When you're in the south and you see an item with peaches, you order it. Everything was amazing. Even the simple toast and eggs seemed made from scratch and had delightful herbs and a buttery texture. My baby loved it but I definitely ate as much of that as I could. The burrito was delicious and my husband liked the sausage roll too. The drinks were unique but spot-on and we'd definitely come back if we lived here. Come here for sureeeee! read more

I really killed this place. I went in the weekend and it was not super packed. It is really beautiful on the inside and not loud at all. I also loved the avocado toast that I ordered! 10/10 recommend! read more
It was a cute little coffee shop- there was paid parking across the street or if you live close you can light rail! The inside could seat around 10-15 people (it was on the tinier side). It had beautiful windows and natural lighting though! Service was fast! My only issue was finding outlets if you were doing work. I could only find 2 outlets along the walls, which were also highly sought after. read more
I swung by this spot on a crisp Sunday morning and decided to grab a cortado with a slice of coffee cake. I'll admit, I've never spent so much on a single slice of coffee cake, but hey, there's a first time for everything. The café's interior gave tremendous modern vibes with large windows that flooded the space with natural light and sleek, wood-paneled walls - I did not expect for the indoor space to be slightly cramped. I also couldn't get enough of the Harley Davidson wood benches out front. Fifth Vessel Coffee Co. truly shines in Houston's buzzing coffee scene and I found it to be a laid-back yet refined atmosphere that definitely made me want to stick around. There will be a next time! read more

What an amazing place for folks who nerd out on coffee. They source exceptional beans from roasters around the world and have an extensive pour over menu. All three pour overs that I had were very well made, to boot. I had a coffee from Nomad, a quite well known roaster in Barcelona that I'd never been able to try before, and also two coffees from a roaster in France. They have beans from some US based roasters, quite a few from Australia, and several other countries. They were running out of beans for one that I ordered, so they made me a small batch with the last of the beans on the house. Their espresso is also excellent. I had two house espressos and one super espresso (this was across 4 different visits, I should point out in case my doctor ever reads this). I also had a seasonal drink, an espresso tonic over ice with a peach jasmine syrup. It was awesome. The staff was friendly, engaging, indulgent of curious nerds like me, and really know their stuff. It is also a nice spot to hang out and get some work done. Had probably 5 or 6 tables for two plus two long communal tables. Can't recommend this place highly enough. read more
