Several other reviews have noted the food tasting like poop so I have to admit my family and I were a bit nervous before receiving our meals. We, however, do not know what poop tastes like, nor do we want to find out, but we do know what it smells like and this place does not smell like a used john. Is it a real 5 star restaurant? In the Vail Valley this is as good as it gets for Mexican. Being a local leaving town I wanted to shout out to these folks who have been feeding me for the last 5 yrs. Try the Tacos al Pastor or the Chile Rellenos, both solid and as far as I know authentic. Portions are large and prices are rational for the valley. We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon around noon. Only a few patrons when we sat down but the place was jumping by the time we left. I had the chimichanga Cancun. The shrimp were tasty and the mushrooms were a great compliment. My husband had the shredded beef burrito. Both were delicious. The platters are loaded with rice, beans and guacamole. I am from Phoenix AZ, so I may be a tough critic when it comes to Mexican food. I asked the server what was popular and he said the chicken fajita burrito, so I ordered it. It was ok. The service was good. The fruit margarita was the bomb (contained premium tequila)! They get 3 stars because the sauce on my burrito was watery, and the salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce with onions and cilantro. A Mexican food restaurant without fresh salsa is unheard of in AZ. He opted out from eating his a few bites in die to the poor flavor, and ate half my food. My husband and I went here last year after skiing. It was a typical Mexican restaurant- nothing special. This year we are here with our kids. Decided at the last minute to try to do take out because the kids were exhausted. They have a take out menu so we figured it would be fine. Called and they declined to take our order or allow for pick up. Fine. My husband asked if he could come in, order and then asked to have it boxed. They said they also couldn't do this. BUT if we came in and didn't eat all the food we ordered then would they box it up? I mean apparently not since clearly you can't pay for food which they then shove into a box without us even taking up a table. Totally ridiculous. So much for customer service. In general I don't like to support poorly run businesses. On that note, try Agave because they at least offered to let us order at the bar and take it to go even though they were busy. read more

We got two of their specialties which were rather buried in their menu - an enchilada and the "crazy donkey" burrito, featuring skirt steak. The steak was tasty but occasionally chewy. Very strange, my unhappy review just disappeared. After several of years buying salsa from this restaurant they tried to charge me $10 for a ten oz container of salsa ( have been paying $3.50). The waiter even called the owner and told me they didn't really want to sell salsa to the customers. Lost me as a customer! We were looking for some Mexican food near Vail,CO, for a birthday celebration luncheon. We saw this advertised and thought we'd give it a try. We waited quite awhile to be seated, interesting since there were only three other tables occupied. When we finally were seated, they seated us in a booth that had torn and uncomfortable seats...reminder there are only three other occupied tables. The prices weren't bad but the food was bland and contained very little meat.The wait staff could have cared less that we were there. He was rude and wanted us gone as soon as possible. Avoid this restaurant! I ordered the burrito a la crema. They brought me the wrong dish, with an entirely different sauce. The waiter said that they just forgot the sauce and simply added the crema sauce on top of what was originally brought to me. But it was obviously still the wrong dish, confirmed by cutting open the burrito to find a different filling than what was described on the menu, he just thought I would be too stupid to notice. However, not wanting spit in my food, I decided not to send it back and to try to make the best of it. Taste wise it was just OK, but the combination of the two different sauces made my stomach roil and the dish went uneaten. The waiter again seemed indifferent to customer satisfaction and I'm sure bad mouthed me after I left for not leaving a tip. I cannot think of a single positive think to say about this restaurant. The only thing more disappointing than this meal is that Yelp requires me to rate it at at least one star, a rating this restaurant would struggle to achieve on it's best day. read more

Worst experience ever! (From start to finish) we started our evening by being seated at the storage tables in the back. No specials, no menus, no salt and pepper shakers on the table. We waited for our waiter for an exceedingly long time. Finally he came with a surprised look on his face. He asked us if we needed some drinks (chose not to tell us what the specials for the day were) we ordered simple Mexican food out of their 150 item menu. (as a joke I ordered a plate of their American chicken wings) because that's exactly what you want to see on the menu in a Mexican restaurant. The waiter asked me if I would like some ranch or blue cheese since the chicken wings were a little dry. I said yes please! And lots of water! Then we ordered our food (lol..) which they decided to bring us what they wanted us to eat. Food was so terrible salt couldn't do it justice. Finally I had enough when the waiter asked me if I wanted a box for my food before I started eating. I asked him to see a manager. Surprise! No manger in site. I storm out and said "please charge me for what I ate"... P.S. Sitting beside us, was a family of five, sitting in a small table for two. This place needs help! FAST! read more
