These are nice folks and they do a good job. I live down the block so I walk home after dropping off my car. I have 3 cars so I get 3 inspections a year. Just show up with my insurance card and the renewal form and it's done. I have found their repairs to be good and honest maybe not the cheapest but I want a station 4 blocks from where I live. On the other hand if I have a small issue the service folks fix it straight up including leaking tires and other small things. read more

They are just the best! Instead of doing endless repairs to my 15 year old Lexus, they suggested it may be time for a new one. They were right, and I very much appreciated their honesty. I love their full service with attention to the vitals of my new Lexus! read more

I've been going to these guys for years. I am going to be completely honest here. They are not the best at communication (you need to actively call for a status and they may or may not make their ontime service commitments). However they keep the customer's interest in mind, never overcharge, and provide a great value. read more

Longtime customer here, recently subjected to one of the perpetually-scowling owner's tirades. If you enjoy dealing with a ticking time bomb and walking on eggshells around a business owner, you'll love this place. If not, save yourself some headaches and just go to Lamb's down the street. The owner should find another line of work and leave the business to people who know how to deal with customers. I would recommend prison guard as a suitable profession for her personality type. read more

My heater started turning off whenever I was stuck in traffic or stopped at a light, and when I complained about it at work two different people recommended Ferguson's down the street, citing good service and fair prices. I called them right after leaving work and was astonished that I could bring my car in immediately without needing an appointment, like Firestone usually requires; I was also quoted $48 to investigate, which seemed fairly reasonable (I was expecting maybe a hundred, though I don't know how much this service typically costs). Upon arriving, a tech named Smitty came out, looked at my car for approximately 0.03 seconds, and figured out I had apparently no coolant in my car whatsoever. He added coolant, had me drive around the block, then added more coolant after confirming this was the problem. To top it off, when I asked how much the charge would be, he said it wasn't a big deal and to just go home! I left feeling like this dude was the MVP of my Saturday. Thanks so much, Smitty! I'll definitely be bringing my car back Ferguson's for any future repairs (of which there are many, haha). read more

I lucked out that my tire pressure light came on not far from Ferguson's. I was back on the road with a patched tire in less than 20 minutes (even though it was after 6pm on a Friday). So grateful for the speedy excellent service! read more

Quick and easy with no wait for state vehicle inspection. Definitely coming back next time.

James Ferguson and his wife are the salt of the earth kind of business owners. Last week the Mister forgot to sign his check for repairs to our son's car. Mrs. Ferguson called and was so cool about it. "I'll leave it on my desk and he can just stop by when he has time to sign it." Okay. So, like, in 2095? He'll have all the time in the world when he's dust. The service men (that is so wrong--sounds like military) are always straight forward about any repairs they find. Yeah, it's going to cost you, but it will be done correctly and on time. What is the PC term for a guy who fixes your car? Repairman? Garage station attendant? Grease dude? Maybe I will name my two favorite "guys who fix cars" here at Ferguson's, Executive Automotive Technicians. These guys are that good. read more

Any port in a storm should be the title of this review. I had a tire going flat this morning and managed to get enough air in it to nurse it in to Ferguson's, the closest open place to my house. When I stopped in, the station had no customers. The guy behind the counter asked if I wanted to leave my car and pick it up later. I explained that I needed to get to my office and I'd prefer to wait for it. He then tells me that he'll take a look at it and 'try" to help me. After a very quick repair, I was surprised by the price. By no means expensive (and certainly cheaper than a new tire), but their prices for a tire repair are higher than even a service station in Tarrytown. (Literally) 5 stars for a quick convenient fix. 0-1 stars for crabby service. Again, any port in a storm, but definitely, "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

This is a hard review because I can't evaluate the mechanics. The only person I had contact with was the lady at the front desk who was very icy to say the least. Nasty tone and failed to notify me when my car was done with inspection. When I came back to get it she didn't even acknowledge I had entered the shop. As a business owner in the retail sector I just hate this type of service and it really rubs me the wrong way. read more

Just to update my review - these guys are the best at getting my aging cars repaired affordably. They look out for the customer. They are a bit gruff at times, but I would rather have someone that I can trust repairing my car than have a great conversationalist as mechanic. read more

The positives: They're near by. I just moved here and I can literally ride my bike home in 4 minutes after dropping off the car. They go by the book on hourly charges. Based on some of the other reviews, however, it's almost like this is a really good front operation and they don't need your money - OR - they are just coasting toward retirement and don't really care about the less lucrative business. The negatives will require a list: 1. Very hesitant to use CSOP (something that those of us w/ experience in automotive field are familiar with). And they definitely make a markup on every part they told me I needed. 2. Not the friendliest people at the register or on the phone. If you've lived on the east or west coast like I have, it's not unfamiliar, but out of place for Austin, TX. 3. Good luck getting them to do a Texas state inspection. LOL yeah right. They'll come up with ANY excuse they can't do one. I should check and see if licensed providers of that service are under any state mandated obligation to live up to their billing, because Ferguson don't want none of that. 4. Gasoline prices are friggin' reee-diculous. At least 20% higher than the cheapest pumps within a 0.5mi radius (all west of MoPac on Far West). 5. They offer free air and water....Great! But guess what? If you go there past closing when all the filling station lights are still on and gas is flowing as usual, chances are the compressors in the air pumps have been turned off and the water has been cut off. I learned this the hard way on the coldest night of the year (since I've lived here) as my car told me my air pressure was really low in one tire, so I pulled in and immediately started trying to fill that tire. There was plenty of noise and the hose felt nice and taut, but when i disconnected it and checked my pressure, I was 9psi LOWER!!! So I had just deflated my tire to dangerously low levels and the coin operated air pumps in the hood were all broken (the one near the HEB doesn't even have one). This is pretty galling considering the type of neighborhood they're in. They need to make up their minds. Are they an old school friendly neighborhood station where you can rely on them for most service, you're willing to pay a premium on the gas prices for "full" service (gas, air, water, help at the pump, etc.) or is it just a front? Do you or don't you provide air and water at night in this very upscale neighborhood and set back off the main streets by a good distance? For reason #3 and reason #5 I will never do business with these guys again and I recommend that you look elsewhere in the neighborhood for gas or service. If they don't want to provide air at night FINE! Just put a damn sign out and that way people will know not to try filling their already low tires in the cold with no other options around! JUST PUT OUT A SIGN!!! But your high gas prices justify the use of a pump and water and clean window washing fluid - things that are mysteriously only available during regular business hours. JUST PUT OUT A SIGN LETTING PEOPLE KNOW!!!!!! read more

Our family has been using Fergusons for +/- 25 years and we appreciate them more and more each year. We have a large family and have had multiple used vehicles serviced there over the years. I went in to get an estimate for a repair, and got quoted around 850 dollars. They said parts alone were 500. I ordered the parts, for 56.00 dollars and took them to a mechanic and he charged me 40 to replace the parts. So I spent a total of 100 bucks! So yeah, I'd shop around before you have them fix anything. read more

This is a first for me. I just signed up with YELP today so I could share my experience with Ferguson Gas Station. I live in the neighborhood and a long time customer. I will NEVER go back. I would give ZERO stars if I could! I have put up with the worst customer service and just plain rudeness for far too long just for the convenience. I needed gas today as well as air in my tires. I pulled into what should be my friendly neighborhood gas station and started pumping my gas. I was the only customer there. I walked inside and asked if I could borrow a gauge so I could fill the tires accurately. The worker, in front of the grumpy owner woman, barely looked up and pointed to a gauge in a pencil holder. Soooo, while I put air in my tires (while wearing white wool pants ) a lady pulled up in the self service lane only needing air. The worker, who just wanted to go home, begrudgingly put air in her tires and she rolled away paying him nothing $0! I spent $60 on gas and was treated terribly. Who won in this game? No one. Ferguson just lost a paying customer, I lost convenience. Terribly BAD mojo going on in this place. BEWARE!!!! read more

It is true they will rip you off! I took my car to them and they charged me over $100 plus towing fee just for 1 fuse! That wasn't even the issue, something was shorting out in the HvAC control module and required a diagnostic wich they didn't conduct, but still charged. So a couple days later and 7 blown fuses I gave en them a call to correct there work, they offered a tow and to not charge to correct. After tow not only did they stick us with the bill but they said my car parts where rare and could take months to order and work on! Called Chrysler and the Parts were definitely in stock, THESE GUYS WILL LIE AND CHEAT YOU JUST FOR A BUCK! JUST BECAUSE THERE IN A NICE SUBURBAN AREA AND HAVE THEY OWN FAMILY MEMBERS THERE (Not working mind you) they think you won't know your getting SCREWED! DO NOT GO HERE! UPDATE: After this post, they offered to reimburse a tow fee read more

Love the mom and pop service. My son allowed all of his oil to run out of his truck because he's 16 and no one, me, ever told him you need to check oil and change it when low. Not only did they take care of everything, they gave both my teenage sons an under the hood lesson. Valuable information for a teenage boys who have a single mom that forgot to tell them! Great service, salt of the earth people, last of a dying breed. read more

Wish I could give no stars. The woman that answered the phone was absolutely rude. I asked, "are you the Texaco on North Hills Drive?", NO, we are Ferguson Automotive", me, "ok", I asked, " are you across from bank on North Hills drive?", very rudely she replied, "No, we are across from a credit union", um ok it went down hill from there I just hung up. Went in for a vehicle safety inspection. The woman at the front desk hung up on me when I called to make an appointment. Then when I arrived at the location, they sent me back home to get an unnecessary piece of paperwork to validate my insurance. Shortly after dropping my car off after that, I got a call saying my car failed the check due to the check engine light being on. They said they would merely inspect it for the modest price of $96. DO NOT get your safety inspection check here. read more

I use to live in this neighborhood and would stop in if I had a small issue or question. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. Because of this I decided to call first and then take my car in when the check engine light wouldn't turn off. Peggy was straight to the point, more knowledgeable about the mechanics of a car than any woman I have ever met(she and her husband own the shop) friendly and professional on every level. I dropped my car off at 8 and luckily with my issue they had the part ordered, fixed, inspected(I threw that in last min) and ready to go by 4pm. All the while keeping me in the loop throughout the day. Oh and she threw in a car wash at the end for free. Ive has nothing but professional, friendly encounters here from all the mechanics and staff. Thank you Ferguson Automotive! read more

I love Ferguson's. There are fewer and fewer places like this in Austin. There was a time not so many years ago when most gas stations had this kind of service, now it's a rare find. The service is 2nd to none and their $7 car wash is the best deal in town. They have brushes and sprayers you can use before you put your car through the Laser Wash/Dry experience. Arbor Car Wash is more of a full-service experience, and is great...but these guys are closer to my house and it's SO cheap. There's rarely ever a wait, and if there is, it's usually only one car in front of you. I'll always get my car washed here, and it's nice to be able to use water and air and not have to for over 75 cents for 1 minute of usage. I love Ferguson's! read more

Had a flat tire. Called for assistance. Said their tow man was on vacation. I changed my own tire and still drove over there. They made me wait for 20 minutes before they would even talk to me. Everyone else was being assisted, including people that showed up after I did. It did not escape my notice that all the other customers were men. MASOGYNISTIC is one word that comes to mind. LADIES, STAY AWAY!!!! read more

My check engine light came on so I came here to figure out why. I explained that my car was EXTREMELY low on gas and my light came on. I was curious if they could check what caused the light to come on. They tried to charge me $90 or so until I mentioned I could do it at Autozone for free. They then told me that I had 2 cylinders misfire and it would cost $1000 to fix. Afterwards, my dad explained to me that the parts would maybe cost $100 and I could easily do it myself. My car-savvy friend also explained that my car probably misfired because of my lack of gas. My car is running perfectly fine now and I haven't had any problems. Needless to say, I'm not returning and paying $1000 for nothing. read more

I was treated very nicely when I called ahead about my car trouble and when I arrived with my car to be diagnosed. However when the female manager called to discuss my car and I declined their service, the friendly treatment became brusque. When I went in to get my keys, the same female employee barely looked at me and thrust my key at me. I wouldn't have made this review except for how rudely she treated me over declining a labor charge of 96$ when Ford offered the same service for 19.95$ read more

These guys overcharge. They are dishonest, and I will never go there again. They provided service I didn't agree to, and then made me pay for the repair I didn't ask for. My new mechanic charges half what they do. I know multiple people who live near their business who agree with me read more

I have used Ferguson's for 15 years now. I have had many, many times they have worked on my car, my wife's car, and my two kid's cars. They have done everything from routine maintenance to difficult to diagnose intermittent failures (you know, where the car only acts up when it's not at the mechanic's). I have been going to mechanics for nearly half a century. Few would get a 5 star from me. Heck, it takes a lot for me to even write something on the internet. I am writing this because I read a few low ratings here that I disagree with. As to Mrs. Ferguson, she is the jewel that hold this operation together. Brisk and business-like, she has a fine mechanical mind and runs a very honest shop. As to those who find her "brusque," I say: beware of the overly friendly mechanic - these are often conning you. I have been taken to the cleaners more than once by smiling friendly mechanics. Never at Ferguson's. They have always been completely honest with me. read more

After being told the wait for an inspection was 2 hrs at a "chain" service station I drove a couple of blocks and found this bustling Shell station and gave them a try. My in/out time for an inspection was barely 15 mins at noon on a Monday. No "upselling", just good quick service and straight forward techs. My stepdaughter's vehicle needed a taillight lens to pass and they offered to order the part. Within an hour of leaving they called with a quote for the lens and labor. No frills family run biz....you are not paying for a flat screen TV and 10 mag subscriptions in the waiting area. Bring your own book and hop over to Murchison if the wait is long. Ferguson's doesn't have Wi-Fi, a flat screen tv, cushy chairs...no waiting room, really, other than a couple chairs right next to the register. But, you know what? They don't need a plush waiting room because you don't really spend much time waiting. I always come here for state inspections and oil changes. Less than an hour later I am out the door for $50 (oil change) and getting my car a free car wash. If you ever have to wait longer, there are plenty of places within walking distance to go for lunch or coffee. read more

I've lived near Ferguson Automotive for going on 2 years now. I've used them for minor things like oil changes and flat tires. Both times I've had to go to them because of a nail in my tire, it's taken 5 minutes for them to fix and costs less than $15. I'll take that any day over going to a dealership or major repair center and have them tell me I need a whole new tire. The guys there are always really friendly and helpful. They stay open fairly late too which helps if you work into the evening like I do. I'll continue going to Ferguson Automotive until they give me a reason not to. read more

I live down the street from this place and realized that they guy did he training/education at Del Mar in Corpus (my hometown). Great service, the staff are friendly and don't make you feel like an idiot because you don't know anything about cars. I've had flats fixed there, a tail light fixed, and my car inspected. They do annual inspections for me, but that's all I'll ever let them do since their estimates have always been more than I can get the same work done elsewhere. The woman at the front desk is atrocious in her attitude. Sour puss is too nice a description for her behavior toward customers. How about a smile and a kind word once in awhile? They would do a lot more business if they replaced her, or put her through a Dale Carnegie personality-changing course. Change their pitiful receptionist and offer competitive prices and I'd give them much more business. read more
