Capital Kia has been taking care of my car for over eight years. It was time for some new lights driving around in these dark streets of Austin in the summer. I made a reservation and was serviced by the check in right away but it took a little while to get my services completed. I was OK with waiting because they have great snacks and lovely coffee for me to enjoy while I wait. I use their Wi-Fi if needed and I study and do other work that I need to do at home on my iPad. read more

My car is 6 months old.... I bought it off the showroom floor with 6 miles. Realized 2 days later none of the usb's or charging pad worked.... no biggie, could be a fuse!! Drive all the way from Hutto back to the motor mile where they proceed to tell me it will sit there for 8 days before it will be looked at... I have 2 children with special needs and can't leave my car.... I told them put me on schedule, and I'll bring it back .. we can't... it HAS to sit here.... so it did, all for them to give it back and the charging pad still didn't work.... On Tuesday 05/02/23.... my check engine light comes on.... on a brand new car!!! I call the Round Rock location, and they can see me...... ON JULY 31st.... what a joke... call the South Point, and they are able to get me in the same Friday... today is that day.... we were told the code was in history and that it would need to sit on site for 4 weeks!!!! Before their "master tech" can diagnose it.... I still have to pay the car payment for it to sit there... they will not give me a loaner.... warranty will cover 45.50 a day. However, I have to pay out of pocket first....... Kia must think we are made of money, we are not.... that is obviously why we are out here buying your BROKEN brand new cars.... the service guys give no . Anthony looks at people like they are stupid and doesn't respond to questions... sadly, he's the service manager.... so I am stuck with a my full time job, 2 kids with disabilities, a car payment I still have to pay, for a brand new car I don't have, and a rental payment I can't afford up front..just figure it out, they say... thank you, Kia... what a stand-up company.... Since having my rack and pinion replaced, my tires began to wear quickly and I had to have them all replaced. Turns out Capitol Kia completely knocked my car out of alignment, and in re-aligning them Lamb's discovered the rack and pinion was badly done as well. One rental car and $1000 later, I now have a Honda. read more

Had an easy to fix problem with a blown fuse. That was it. I've had the exact same fuse replaced before in the same car by a kia dealer, and it took ~10 minutes. 2 HOURS after I gave them my car for my appointment, they said they couldn't do anything because I had stuff in the car. While that's fine and understandable, WHY was I not told this 2 hours earlier? They told me to come back another day, even though I was already 2 hours into my appointment. Just an extremely frustrating waste of a day. I also looked at several cars while I was there, in which the salesman showing me around was not fit to be selling me cars. He knew how to put the back seats down, that was about it. Find a different kia dealer. read more

I have to say, Capitol Kia has stepped up it's game in the Service Dept. I had a very poor start with them on the first 3 times in with new car oil changes, but they seem to have taken the previous criticism to heart and made some positive changes. I left there yesterday thrilled that I asked them to tell me if my headlight (which was askew) would prevent an inspection. My thought was if the car would pass it wouldn't worry about getting it repaired. Not only did they look at it, they fixed the light ("an easy fix, there's no charge")! Whoa. Haven't had a bad experience here with the service guys. Everyone in the department seems nice enough to me, despite the reviews. I always come here for maintenance and I'm happy with it. Can't speak on actually getting a car here, as I went to the Round Rock dealership for that instead. I can't speak to their sales department or policies. My experience, which was pretty much great, speaks only to the service department. I drive a 2006 Kia, which is only now showing signs of age. Earlier this summer, I brought my car to a highly recommended neighborhood shop to have a headlight replaced and to get a general look over. A week after being told everything looked great, the cylinders went and needed to be replaced. Replacements were made and the mechanic again told me that my car should drive like new. Flash forward two more weeks, when my car started behaving weirdly somewhere between Austin and Lawrence, KS. I decided that maybe I would bite the bullet and take it to the dealership. "It may be more expensive, but at least they will know what they're looking for," I thought. Gene helped me with my car, fixing the problem and addressing other issues I had missed. I was nervous when he explained that they had found other issues. And I was hesitant to agree to repairs beyond what I came for, especially since another repair shop had quoted me at over $1200 for one of the multiple repairs he was suggesting. I was shocked when the total cost came in under $1000 for all the repairs. Plus my car was ready same-day, which is huge because we are a single car household. Do you like reading numbers and costs?? I do, thus why my yelp reviews often have tons of numbers and costs and math statistics and are very thorough of detailed invoiced cost breakdown (thank me later). I just got back from Capital Kia after having my car towed from my office parking lot to the dealership. Apparently the 10 year warranty on my 2008 Kia only covers engine and transmission failures so my issues weren't part of that detailed clause. To conduct diagnosis (costs $103 FYI) of my car all of a sudden shaking badly while driving and the check engine light coming on was $103, plus $2 for disposing of parts. Leslie, from services, was very professional and put me at ease in every stage that my car was going though, especially in such a stressful time like so when your car is broken and you don't know why and you're a young person and a girl and don't want to get taken advantage of for lack of automotive knowledge. Leslie called me back within an hour of getting my car dropped off and explained to me the bad news and was able to email/text me the conversation we had with the break down of cost and reason of what is happening with my car. Here is the conversation she sent me: Crystal, Per our conversation, your vehicle is in need of a cylinder 1 ignition coil. Generally it is recommended to replace all spark plugs so that you have a chance in salvaging the remaining coils. Replacement of one coil and all spark plugs will cost 411.29. There is still a chance that you may have additional coils go out, sometimes the damage may be to far along causing another repair needed on a coil. This would inadvertently cause a need to revisit this repair which can become costly doing them individually. I recommend that if you replace all coils and spark plugs the overlap in labor would not effect you in the future. Cost to replace all coils and spark plugs is 799.04. As you can tell the only additional cost is the additional parts. Your vehicle is also in need of a timing belt per our inspection. Pulled the cover to inspect and can see it has not been performed. Replacing timing belt, tensioner, and idler pulley would cost 756.22. This is an important repair to do to prevent the loss of your engine. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Now Southwest KIA. I took my vehicle into Capitol Kia for a tune-up in 2016, 2017 It was discovered the spark plugs were corroded. I had a new battery (at least it was supposed to brand new) in 2016, before the end of 2017 it started dragging. Today it's DEAD! Called to complaint and he told me it has a two-year warranty but I will have to pay 100% labor to replace/install it. I've had it with KIA, if they think they're getting away with trying to pull something over me, I got news for them. Like I told the guy, I'm submitting my complaint to the Attorney General Office (Consumer Protection) against Capitol KIA. Why should I have to pay them more labor charges for their defective KIA factory battery? I should have bought a new battery from any local car part store it I'd known. read more

Each time I have taken my car in for service I have been greeted by very friendly technicians who go above and beyond to provide good service. They call (I drop it off and leave) to follow up with me on both what needs to be done as well as what my repair options I have. Everyone I have come in contact with from the receptionist to the General Manager have been both friendly and accommodating. You will not find friendly or better service in town! Service Department. I'd be willing to give them a pass on the fact that my internet request for a service appointment didn't even merit a return phone call. Good thing I bothered to call prior to showing up at my requested time. I'd be willing to give them a pass but that was not our first bad experience. There is not much to the waiting area. The service bay looks overcrowded with cars all the time. Bad attitudes are in abundance. Now that I have a new KIA under warranty and am stuck using them for certain covered maintenance I am likely to be sending a letter to the Corporate office. read more

I actually purchased my car from another Kia Dealership in another city along with an extended warranty. I had all kinds of problems with the car and Capital Kia was the nearest dealership when i moved to Austin so my car was towed into Capital Kia. I was 17 I think when all this happened. After looking at the car the mechanic determined it was the Fuel Hose and told me the repairs were $1000+ dollars. I told him I had an extended warranty and the car was less than a year old. He said it wasnt in their system so I asked if he would look into the glove compartment. I had to get a cab and come down to the lot to get the paperwork because Kia wouldnt. I went home. And repeatedly asked about a rental car that was included in the warranty. They kept my car for 6 days and wouldnt give a rental. They said they had to be physically working on it for more than 4 hours to give a rental. But they had , my car for 6 days. Finally I went picked up my car drove it down the road and it cut off in the middle of the street. I called Cap Kia who said they were sending someone to come get me. I sat for 3 hours waiting and finally called road side assistance after pushing my own car out of the road in 4 inch heels and white pants. (on my lunch break, in training at a new job) When the road side towing company came and dropped me off at CapKia I asked why they never sent anyone to which they said the porter was currently down south.... I had been told for the 3 hours he was on the way. When we arrived at the dealership the first thing the mechanic did was open the hood and start looking at the engine etc. I left again and was provided a raggedy rental car 2 days later. The alignment on the rental was so bad I took the car back and bumed a ride to work for 4 days i was without a car. When I finally got the car back (keep in mind the car was BRAND NEW) I heard a new knock whenever I pushed the breaks. I took the car to another mechanic that said All of my motor mounts were broken and there was other damage. I went to Capital Kia again and after getting the worse customer service ever. They said the repairs they made never called for them to be under the hood and fuse hose was under the seat. To which i Told them I saw them under the hood of the car. I stood in the hallway called attorneys, Fox 7, and the BBB. In 10 mins I was approached by the Police who said the wife of the owner had heard me screaming which was a completely lie. I was on the phone the entire time. I asked if the video tape could be watched to prove she was lying. No one else heard anything and had no clue what was going on except his wife. When the owner arrived while we were talking to the police the story completely changed from "I heard her screaming" to someone heard her screaming and told the me. Needless to say a criminal trespass warning was placed and I couldnt come back to the dealership. I ended up going to SouthPoint Kia who kindly fixed everything. Regardless of everthing I decided to never buy a Kia again. This all happened years ago. I ended up having to sue capital kia. My point to you all: 1. The Kia warranties are no good no matter the dealership. 2.Capital Kia were just sleezy liars who are terrible at fixing cars and when they break something you may as well call an attorney. 3.The sales manager, service manager and owner all had the chance to fix this and they didn't. The greasy, sleak employees got worse and worse. 4. I've been telling this story for years to anyone who will listen in hopes of people never buy anything from this place and they would go out of business. Please do not buy here. You will not be the exception to the rule. There will be one situation and you'll feel like you got hustled too. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever had. Thankfully I caught that their online price was over $600 cheaper than the lot price (they acted totally clueless about it). I also was straight up LIED to about their oil change deal. It's a complete scam. I was told at the time that tire rotation is included and man, if I wasn't flabbergasted when I go in for service and they tell me it's not included. The man I dealt with on the phone was totally smug and rude when I called about it. They also were supposed to fix my windshield wipers and NEVER DID. They are liars and just scummy people. I have had my 2011 Kia Rio serviced here multiple times. It seems every couple months the car needs some major service done and this "rarely or never happens with their other cars." And when I bring it in their staff will say "Besides general maintenance, this repair will keep you good for years." Two months later, something else happens to break down, who knows maybe I have a lemon. I bought the car for around 10k in 2012, and I have paid over $1800 in repairs there over the course of the last year. I recently came in for much needed repairs early in the AM. . I arrived before they opened their doors to be on time and ease my traffic woes coming into Austin. I realize that many employees may share similar tasks each morning and would like at least 2-3 minutes before customers come in, yet I gave them 4 minutes and saw there was one female already there. Within the time it took me to get out of my vehicle and walk to the front (glass) door; she quickly vanished from the counter and within two minutes of standing there I saw another young male worker dressed in all beige come in-just say "good morning, and someone will be with you" and walked away{at least he acknowledges a customer's presence and did not disappear like the female worker that vanished so abruptly}. I did not have to wait long, "Gene" showed up and quickly offered customer service, checked my vehicle appointment and states " you were scheduled with G (the female that quickly disappeared), but I can help you" and I was able to sit comfortably to wait for my ride home in the waiting area. {that was quite non-customer friendly that if you know you have an appointment, you would vanish like that without even a "morning"} Throughout the time, my vehicle was there; he kept in fair contact and updates on my car repairs; even when I returned for my vehicle--I did finally receive customer service from that same female that seemed to eager to cash me out ( since I came late after Gene had already left); certainly the opposite of her initial response when I first came in, earlier that month. Of course, there was still one thing to wait on the part(s), and Gene kept me updated and I did come in a few days later for my last repair. Even though he was away at training in another city; Tony was just as helpful and friendly customer service orientated. My vehicle was repaired quickly and my visit(s) certainly were not completely soured by my first-early morning initial appointment that took until the third worker to acknowledge they had a customer in their office. I can absolutely state that I have received great service from both Gene and Tony at different times and have never had any problems with their customer service. All in all, my past visits have always been very courteous, efficient and solutioned rather promptly, yet it was not appreciative to be "greeted with such poor customer service so early in the AM (except with these two workers G and the beige dressed young male worker); maybe they should change to afternoon shifts and would be more serviceable that way and in a better mood. read more

I was there with a erratic noise in my engine. Sometimes you could hear the noise and sometimes you could not. Had to bring it in twice because of that noise problem. The first time it wouldn't make the noise at all. I also always use this dealership for oil changes and required maintenance. Gene was my service guy for the noise visits and many times before. Best service I have ever had any where, hands down. Victor Montes was the associate that sold me my brand new kia forte. He took the time to really explain all the safety features that come with a kia, showed me a few different cars, and got me an amazing deal. I came in looking for a cheap used forte and left that night with a 2016 still within my original budget plan. He stayed almost four hours after closing just to get me the best deal and make sure I was 100% comfortable with the payments. I'll never shop anywhere else, seriously wonderful service. read more

This review is in relation to the service department. I made an appointment to have my car looked at two weeks in advance. I promptly dropped it off at 9:00 am and called at 1:30 because I hadn't heard anything. I was told they hadn't even started on it but that it would probably get in at 2:00. I called back at 4:30 and was told more than likely they weren't going to get to it a all today. I indicated that okay; I'll come back and get it. So without it even being looked at, I had to get a ride back to pick it up. When I get there five guys are hanging aournd the office not doing anything and when I started saying I had made the appointment two weeks ago; one of the guys go well it was Nate you were dealing with so I don't know anything about that but are you going to bring it back. My response "It's highly unlikely." Why on earth would I bring it back when I don't live nor work near the location in the first place and no one even moves it from the parking spot I left it in all day. It's bad enough that I had to keep calling all day because no one called me to tell me they weren't going to get to it. As it was I had my car exactly 3 days before the check engine light came on in the first place. I don't feel I should be experiencing issues already! Plan horrible! Now I'm going to have to take it somewhere else and waste another day. Oh and the topping on the cake is my mother bought a car the same day from Carmax and she has gotten two letters from the dealership and several follow-up calls where as I haven't heard anything from anyone at Capitol Kia! read more

Absolutely the worst service department in the world. DO NOT PURCHASE any Kia vehicle and expect Capitol Kia to perform warranty service work. I purchased a 2007 Kia Optima brand new from Capitol Kia. After listening to their finance person regarding all the things that would not be covered under factory warranty, I purchased the extended warranty thinking that would resolve any warranty concerns I may have. I took my Kia Optima to Capitol Kia twice regarding the wheel alignment. On both occasions they told me there was nothing wrong with the alignment. I guess I must have been imagining the irregular wear on the tires and the constant pulling on the steering wheel. After 25,000 miles the tires needed to be replaced due to the improper wear. I took the car to Firestone, purchased four new tires and asked them to check the alignment. As I suspected, the alignment was out. I paid Firestone to repair the alignment. Then the dashpad came loose and started rattling. Again, I took the car to Capitol Kia. They responded by saying that the dashpad doesn't "move" any more than one on a brand new car. I guess the fact that you can watch it vibrate while your driving down the road is standard. Eventually, the vehicle had a factory recall. Again, I took the car to Capitol Kia for the recall and asked them again to look at the vibrating dash pad. This time I was told that squeaks and rattles are only covered for 12,000 miles and the fee to look at this would be $95.00 per hour. HUH? I thought my extended warranty would cover "bumper to bumper" for 5 years or 60,000 miles. The service advisor responded with "Oh I forgot about that." Yeah right!!! I told the service advisor that I would take it up with the Attorney General's office and I walked out (but left the car there for the recall). About an hour later I got a call from the service manager complaining about the way I treated his service advisor. I complained right back about the way I was treated as a customer. He finally relented after I told him I would be filing a complaint on Monday with the Attorney General's consumer affairs division. They looked at the car (it took them three days) and then responded that the dashpad was rattling because the windshield had been replaced and it wasn't replaced with factory glass. Are you kidding me? The dash pad rattle is about four inches away from the windshield. The two are in no way related. My complaint with the A.G.'s office was filed this past Monday. Oh yeah, when they called me to tell me the car was ready to be picked up, they informed me that "as part of our exceptional customer service, we perform a bumper to bumper inspection of your vehicle." I almost had a stroke!!! They told me that the alignment was off and they would need to repair it (at a cost to me, of course). I told them in no uncertain terms to keep their G__ D___ hands off the alignment - that I had paid to have it done properly and that if there was anything wrong with it I would have Firestone fix it. Capitol Kia has NEVER completed any requested warranty repairs on my car. They have always had some excuse why I needed to pay them to complete the repairs. We'll see what Greg Abbott and his legal team have to say about that!!! read more

I would definitely recommend this dealership and service person. Kia can get a bum rap for being a cheap car, but I have been happy with mine for 3 years. Bryce (Brice?) helped me today. I have been having problems with my bluetooth off and on for almost 2 years. They replaced the radio, it worked for a while, then it would stop. I'd deal with it for a while because hey....first world problems right? But then I think "I am PAYING for this feature" So I'll schedule an appointment and they always just made me feel crazy. Then I'd spend half my day there and I would get "well we couldn't duplicate your issue" or something. Well I called today because it was happening again, my bluetooth hasn't worked in my sorento for about 3 weeks now, then it wouldnt work plugged into the USB or the AUX jack either. I got Bryce. He troubleshooted with me for about 10 min or so, he had me reset my radio, I had to disconnect the call bc all this time, although I couldn't get music to play, calls would come in on my car. It would show my phone was connected but only calls would come through, no music etc. So anyway I reset it, let him go and guess what? IT WORKS!! I am over the moon and all of the other times I feel like he has righted all the wrongs I've felt over this! I called and talked to Cody, a manager, to sing his praise. Bryce, I hope you read this! It's such a little thing but you took the time to listen and trouble shoot, and I didn't have to bring my car in and wait for hours, and I know what to do if it happens again after a while. Capitol Kia is amazing!! I have to say...I was so impressed Saturday. I had bought a second hand Kia Rio with 30k miles on it from a secondary dealer. One of my sensors came on. Having not had a good experience with that dealership during the purchase of my car, I called Capitol Kia. I spoke to Tony Miano on the phone and he told me he would work me in if I could come at 4pm and that he would have me ready to go by 6pm. When I arrived, Tony was so gracious. He explained to me that I have a 60k warranty on my car, in spite of the fact that I am the second owner, and that most my repairs would be covered by Kia for free. He checked all my fluids, my brakes, my tire pressure, etc, for free. And he gave me a discount on my oil change. I only paid $23 and change. He also told me while waiting to go eat, on the house. They bbq there and I went to have marinated beef fajitas while waiting. I came back and was able to use the computer room to fart around for free. They were so kind to me, and thorough, and honest.
