In a nut shell, this is the timeline of my transmission with work done by Cottman's. 5/12/17 - Initial transmission lock up 5/13/17 - $800 worth of work, and I got my car back 5/15/17 - Locked up again! (more issues, no transmission fluid) 5/19/17 - $1500 worth of a rebuild and I got my car back 5/20/17 - Found a leak (bad seals..) 5/23/17 - get my car back 8/8/17 - Found another leak (failed to configure computer, multiple seal leaks) 4/24/18 - Found another leak (bad seal behind torque converter) 5/23/18 - Transmission locked up again!!!! I brought my car in 5/13/17 when my transmission locked up. They did some work, cost me a couple hundred dollars, but I got it out a couple days later. I drove it home and it locked up immediately by the time I drove it the 10 minutes to my house. I brought it back to them the following Monday, 5/15/17, and this time they had to rebuild the whole thing. They also didn't fill it will transmission fluid before letting me take it the first time. They did the work, pulled it, sent it out to get rebuilt and reinstalled it. It never ran the same, but no one really expects it to, right? When it was installed there were continued noises that have never stopped. I also noticed they ruined my brand-new ball joints because they tried to pop it off the joint instead of simply unscrewing the nut and bolts off the lower control arm! I picked my car up 5/19/17 after they rebuilt the transmission. I noticed the next day that my car was still leaking transmission fluid!!! I took it back to them yet again on 5/20/17!! Picked my car up 5/23/17, it didn't show any leaks at least, but never again has it sounded the same again. I noticed even more leaking beginning of August, and I brought it back to them again on 8/8/17! It was literally spraying transmission fluid on the inside of the front driver's side wheel well. I suspected this, so cleaned it thoroughly, and noticed that it still was getting wet. They removed the transmission and sent it back to the shop. The guy at the shop told them that there wasn't anything wrong with the transmission, they just didn't reconfigure the computer correctly, and sent the transmission back to Cottman. Cottman changed out some seals around the cv joint and reconfigured the computer. This was why it never sounded the same!! After I got it back it sounded a little better, drove a little better, but still not that good. In April of 2018 I took my car to another shop to have them see if they could find out what some of the squeaks and noises are coming from. They couldn't find any, but found another leak in the transmission!!! This one was located up in the front seal of the transmission, behind the torque converter!! So, I took it back to Cottman's again to have them fix it. Why would I keep coming back here, because the transmission is under warranty still.. They took it in 4/18/18 and repaired the leak and replaced the seal. So, now I'm driving my car to work 5/23/18 at 8:30AM and my transmission locks up again!!! It wont go past 2nd gear, it wont go into reveres anymore. I limp back to Cottman's shop to have them look at their handiwork and to take care of it. This time, they come back and tell me its 7000 miles past the warranty of the engine!!! Really! Like I drove 7000 miles between 4/18 and 5/23.. You took it in last month and fixed your continued problems! It obviously has continued issues, they have not done their job, they never properly repaired the problems and instead did shotty work until my transmission locked up again! Now they want me to pay for a whole new build!! Do not trust this place, they don't know what they are doing. They are not honest with their customers and have not been able to resolve the continued issues with my transmission. I have continued to give them the benefit of the doubt because they have always attempted to correct the issue. This time they have not. I do not recommend you have them do work on your car.

Drove and saw him for a free estimate which he got to me that evening. I asked him when I was at his shop doing the estimate about how long he thought it would take. He said a week or less. I told him I wanted to be in San Antonio on the following Wednesday. He informed me he would have space for me the next day, Thursday. I checked the estimate and brought the car back to him on Thursday after work. Matt was waiting for me. He was communicative, prompt, affable, funny and smart. I could tell from the minute I started talking with him I liked him. On his day off, Sunday, he called me and told me that he thought he could definitely make that happen and he did. Mind you he just had a baby girl so sleep was abviously an issue. He delivered and he delivered more than what he assured me that he would do and promised that he would do. The work that I received coupled with the transparency and honesty that he gave me regarding what I thought was possibly a bent axle or hub which was actually only a control arm which he diagnosed replaced and fixed when he could have told me it was more. Fixing the wheel and then color matching my very detailed Pearl paint. Wow! When I was picking up my car, I walked into his office and told him it looked better than when I bought it. Matt told me he does things like he would do them for himself. I'm the same way and respected the hell out of that. I went to fill up my car and realized he had not cut any corners when I noticed the inside of my fuel well door had been painted with the same care as the visible parts. UPDATE: Google has deleted my legitimate review protecting a business scamming people. Just got an…read moreupdate from the shop I had to hire to fix's my wiring issues. They found that A-Tex melted the wiring harnesses which caused it to melt more wiring harnesses in the truck and made an absolute mess out of the wiring. It is literally costing me thousands of dollars to get fixed what they fried in the truck. This shop has no idea what they are doing. BEWARE! I will attach the email I received from the other shop. 100% DO NOT use this shop. The owner JR lied and gaslit the whole time. As soon as I gave him all the money before the project was done he hid my truck and started acting shady. I had to basically threaten escalation to proper channels to get him to respond. He literally hid my truck for weeks and lied about it going back to the machine shop. I caught him hiding my truck to turn other jobs since I had already paid him. Straight up caught him in a lie. He told me he couldn't make payroll one week and he was sorry I got caught up in it. Not my problem I gave you a ton of money. Obviously the guy doesn't know how to run a shop and will lie and gaslight. Demanded my truck back and the tail lights don't have the red lights because they hooked it up wrong. He melted my wiring harness for tail lights. My grill is missing the "A" in Toyota. My raptor lights in the grill aren't even hooked up. My AC wasn't blowing cold which they recharged in front of me and it's already not blowing cold again when it was perfect when I first dropped it off. There were random wires hanging down by the spare tire and I don't even know where they go. The weather stripping on the bottom of the window is bulged out and horrible looking. The weather stripping at the top of the door is hanging out in the drivers side only. The spray in bed liner gas overspray drips and dings all in the bed that I paid to get fixed. My window guards are missing. I got my $300 LED tail lights back with a melted wiring harness and they had to install tail lights I didn't really want. There is a huge scratch of missing paint by my bumper. My back window isn't sealed properly and hanging out a little. I mean it's just crazy the corners they cut and told me they were professionals. I feel like with the thousands and thousands I sent I deserve a partial refund for not getting the work done l paid for and being lied to. They had my truck for months. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had and I strongly urge you not to use this shop. I was so excited about this and thought I had found a good place. Now everyone I know will not be going and letting everyone else know not to go. It's insane someone can run a business like this and get away with it. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE AND DO NOT EVER PAY A SHOP UP FRONT! This isn't over I am 1000% going to pursue a partial refund since the work promised wasn't done or done horribly. The dealer collision center (Sewell) would not repair it (after billing me more than $1000 for towing and disassembly) because GM is really bad about discontinuing and running out of parts, esp. for smaller volume vehicles like this. I asked Sewell for any recommendation other than totaling the vehicle, and they suggested A-Tex. To be honest, at first glance at JR's shop, I was anxious about their ability to handle a very complex and tight tolerance high performance vehicle with a lot of electronics and sub-systems (they had mostly older classic cars at the shop), but I talked to the owner JR and his team, and got multiple reassurances that they could handle it, and they discussed what needed to be done in a way that was credible to me, with young gents who were experts in different job areas. I also brought my son-in-law who restores 'Vettes, and he confirmed. JR quoted in the same cost range as the dealer estimate, so I paid half up front because parts are expensive and some are near impossible to find. The results were miraculous - OEM parts (used or new), flawless engine, frame, and body work, and the car looks literally factory new and drives perfectly. I made the final payment, drove the car home, and (a bit embarrassed to say) shed some tears to have it back instead of towing it to the junkyard. Thank you JR.

My insurance company wanted me to go to their "preferred" body shop but after looking at their reviews, I decided to do my own search for customer feedback on south Austin body shops and came across City Collision. I'm glad I did! I found City Collision and took my car over to see Travis. He even found additional work that needed to be done that my insurance company's inspector had missed. He contacted the appraiser and got the additional repairs authorized and was very quick in making the needed repairs. When I first arrived, I saw that this shop didn't have a bunch of employees so I thought that it might take a while to get my car back. I was a bit concerned because I didn't have rental reimbursement on my insurance policy so I was paying out of pocket for my rental. I told Travis about this and he assured me that he would get my car finished as soon as possible. He didn't disappoint! It was completely done in only 3 days (not counting the delay from my insurance company about authorizing the additional repairs which was out of his control). The front end of my car looks better than before I hit the coyote! It looks like it's brand new right off of the showroom floor! Awesome work! I highly recommend taking your vehicle to see Travis at City Collision if you're in need some repairs either minor or major.

I have two vehicles in good or new condition, so I knew that I could take my time to find the right repair facility here. Red Lion Motors is down a dirt rd on the owners property in Leander off RM 1431. Greg Potts is a master mechanic and taught Auto repair at ACC for twenty years. He is thoughtful and deliberate , uses the net for complete updates on every aspect of repair. My first visit was simply for an oil change. Greg sold me on the benefits of synthetic motor oil and I am glad that he did. My Silverado had one valve that would be noisy for the first few minutes of start up but that noise has gone away. The motor also runs a few degrees cooler since the change. There is no fancy waiting room here but you will feel confident that you and your vehicle are being well cared for.
