Some mechanics might say sorry and just refer me back to the dealer to figure it out but John had connections and solutions and after a few days I had my car back and I was so very grateful. Raul is the most honest mechanic I've been to. I've been to two dealerships saying I need to get my head gasket and carriers replaced AND that my a/c compressor needs replacing. Both would have totaled over $5k in repairs. I took it to Raul and he found nothing wrong with my engine, no leaks. The a/c compressor is perfectly fine, but the system was low on freon. So he hooked it up and recharged the system. Straight foreward and honest. No pulling my leg and or trying to pull a fast one on me. I will take my car to him in the future for sure. This is a true story so pay attention... My wife has a 2012 Prius V that suddenly quit. We had it towed home while we looked for a shop to take care of it. We found out about John at Raul's and took it there. He called to tell us that it was the primary computer for the engine and drive train and it would cost $2,500 to $3,000. I immediately asked about warranty coverage and since my wife drives the vehicle I asked her the mileage was. She told me 107,200 and I knew we were cooked. I told John to fix it anyway and he did. The final bill was $2,690.00 and my wife said it ran like new. I had to drive the car myself two days later and while cruising around I noticed the mileage was 97,259 - NOT OVER 100,000 SO THE WARRANTY WOULD HAVE COVERED OUR LOSS. I called Toyota and plead our case to their warranty department. They said to submit our paperwork and they would consider a rebate, but, do not count on it. We were supposed to have it done by a dealer. So, we submitted everything and then forgot about it. About 45 days later we received a full rebate! The Toyota folks told us that they approved the rebate because John did everything right. He followed all the proper procedures, purchased original Toyota parts, took great notes, and was already a certified hybrid mechanic. It could not have gone any better. I went to this repair place for a known fix for my car upon recommendation of a friend. All I needed to get done was to put in two QTP motors & 1 valve. This is a fix that I have done myself before and I understand the complexity of work and it has taken me ~involved for a after market part that is install on my car. This place did not give an estimate ( to my fault, I didnt ask for it) and they did not call when the estimate increased beyond what would be considered reasonable for this job (2-3 hours of labor). When I arrive to pickup, they charged me for 6 hours of labor @ $115/hour for something that should have been done in 2-3 hours max. The work was only to replace 2 external valves on the after market part, which I have done myself in ~45mins when I had the time and to chase down the control unit. I had pointed to them where I think the control unit would be, so charging me 3+ hours for a doing this work is excessive. Net summary: Make sure to get an estimate before you leave, make sure to ask them to ask for your permission before they go beyond the estimate. read more

I've been dealing with an EVAP code on my Jeep Wrangler for over 2 years. I decided to have a mechanic look at it. Took it to Raul's. John kept me informed while he ran diagnostics. He replaced my cheap aftermarket EGR Valve that is in the most difficult place to get to. He also found a leak That set off a handful of codes. He put on original Chrysler parts and had it ready the same day. He also replaced wheel stud i apparently stripped out doing my breaks. I knew this place has been in business since I was in middle school. Price was very reasonable. It's been two weeks and no check engine light!! Now I can finally use the automatic start. Since it's freezing temperatures in ATX again. My Jeeps sits on 35" mud terrains. So it doesn't like going over 75. But since John fixed evap. It does 80 on the toll way now. THEY FIXED MY PRIUS! IF YOU HAVE A HYBRID, CONSIDER RAUL'S BEFORE YOU WASTE MONEY AT THE DEALER! The HV (hybrid) battery on my 05 prius went out, and they were the only place in town that could fix it. After my normal mechanic told me that I "had to take it to the dealer" I called toyota, and they quoted me $4,200 to replace the battery. I stared freaking out, but then I found Raul's, and John quoted me about 40% less! I dont know what these other reviews are talking about saying Raul's is too expensive. They did a great job for much much less than toyota. Also Rauls gave me a 3yr warranty on the battery, while the dealer told me only 1 yr. AND they washed my car for me too, and vacuumed out the inside at no cost. They even have a wrecker service that will come get your car. I highly highly recommend them. read more

I wouldn't trust my car with any other shop besides Raul's. Yes, they're THAT GOOD. I've taken three different cars to Raul's and they really know what they are doing. But, like Shirley H. said, it will cost you. They know they're good, so they can charge what they do because they have tons of return customers (like me.) I have to admit that I am having problems with car #4 and am thinking about taking is somewhere else--for the simple reason that I really can't afford Raul's right now. It makes me scared to think about the risk I'm taking by not going to Raul's, but we'll see what happens! p.s. Three stars for Raul's because they charge A LOT for labor! read more

Add in the fact that they get their oil wholesale (at less than Walmart prices), and I got even more ripped off. I would never even call this shop again for an estimate. We have an older Lexus that my childhood friend usually works on, but didn't have time to replace our valve cover gasket as he's a single dad and works a lot of overtime in the Spring and Summer months, but he did verify that that was the service that we needed. My husband called Raul's and they didn't call him back until the next day only to tell him that they'll get back to him with an estimate, but if there's an oil leak it could be engine blow back that would cost thousands to repair. They called back a little more than an hour later and stated that the engine is gone and they don't do that! What?!? The car runs fine, it's just leaking oil. My husband said that the guy sounded as if they just didn't want to be bothered with it. I called Bearden Automotive as I've taken other Lexus' there in the past, they were friendly and quoted me a reasonable price right then and there. The mechanic knew exactly what I was talking about in explaining the issue and stated that it was a single day repair for a flat rate + tax. I also told him what Raul's told my husband and he said that it made no sense. If you have a Lexus or Toyota. Take it to Bearden. They aren't too busy to be courteous to they're customers or work on their cars. They also told me that they only use manufacturer parts. Taking my car in tomorrow. read more

I am going to attempt to be as nice and professional as I can with this review. Basically, all I can say is "Do not go here." It's not a matter of the work being bad, incomplete or anything along those lines. It's not a matter of the people being rude or anything like that. It's a matter of this place charging you an arm and a leg for their work. They charged me double what anyone else would charge for one job. Then many months later, I simply wanted to see what they would charge for some AC work, since they are located so close, and once again they quoted me a price that was DOUBLE what others were charging. My 2009 Prius check engine light was on. From OBII scanner, the code is P1121. I ask different places for a quote to replace my Coolant Flow Control Valve (Part # 1667021010) and John give me the best price. I message him for the quote and make the appointment via Yelp. I drop off my car at noon and got the car back in the afternoon with the old part. My check engine light is now off. I would recommend John for the hybrid service. read more

Affordable and honest!! Thank you for fixing my car so quick. I went in for what seemed to be a bad, squeaky break. Being a girl I thought my tire might fall right off. I called Raul's and they took my car in immediately. They called my back in about 1 hr and said it was ready to be picked up. I went in and they said they took my tire off and looked around and found a leaf wedged in the break pads causing it to make that horrible noise. WHEWW..... I was relieved when I found out I did not need a new tire or breaks. The BEST part, they did not even charge me to look at my car or to fix the problem. WOW, who does that? Expensive but good work. In/out right away. Your pocket book will be much lighter so hold your breath~ no joke. Plus a ride was never offered if I needed one during repair work. Never owned a new car. No car pmts here. Since I am 50+, I know a little about used cars repairs. I took my car in for new belts/water pump replacement. OUCH! The bill was $1400. I found duplicated charges/removed them ~ so it would have been more due to clerical errors. Right!? Next time, I needed a tune up. While it was there, I guessed the mechanic would mention the noise it was making. While he had it on the rack, he could have estimated where that noise was coming from. They were not that busy b/c it was close to Christmas. Not a word. That was the final straw for me. I'd told the mechanic during tune up that I was due a radiator replacement. So I requested an estimate. It was higher than another place quoted me. Not surprising. Maybe that is why you can get in/out here w/o much waiting? Folks don't come back? read more

John was very kind and helpful coming to help me considering it's not something they normally do. He walked across traffic and assisted me attempting to jump my truck then realizing it was my anti-theft plug that was the problem.
